Just found out my kid's school had an "active shooter drill" last week. At least some of the kids were NOT TOLD it was a drill. Some of the teachers acted as though it was REAL!

I am freaked out and PISSED!!!!!

nope I'm certain they are not closed on voting days but our school had the voting occur in a room outside the locked access doors

People are correct that the doors are locked except the front door to the office. Visitors can visit the front office and show ID, have driver's license scanned, a photo ID sticker printed and must be worn and signed in. Then you get buzzed in through the doors to the classrooms. All Texas public schools I have been in are like this.

""New Details Emerge About Border Patrol Agent Who Killed Texas School Shooter, How Many Agents Responded'''

The Border Patrol agent credited with killing the 18-year-old Latino male who murdered 19 children at an elementary school in Texas on Tuesday was part of an elite unit that utilizes military special operations training.

The agent is part of BORTAC, which stands for “Border Patrol Tactical Unit,” a small unit composed of only a couple hundred agents that is relied upon to carry out dangerous missions, including going after human traffickers and raiding stash houses.

The Wall Street Journal reported that approximately 150 Border Patrol agents are stationed in Uvalde, which is where Robb Elementary School is located.

When local police sent out the call yesterday about the shooting, Border Patrol agents were among the first law enforcement officials to respond.

The report said that 80 Border Patrol agents responded to the shooting and that the BORTAC agents usually carry their tactical gear with them.

“Initially, the Bortac agents couldn’t get into the classroom because of a steel door and cinder block construction,” the report said. “Meanwhile, the gunman … shot at them through the door and walls.”

“The Bortac agents got a master key from the school principal that allowed them to enter the room,” the report added. “One Bortac agent’s shield was hit by rounds upon entering and a second agent was wounded by shrapnel. A third killed the suspect.”

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said that the agents acted “without hesitation” as they “put themselves between the shooter and students to end the bloodshed and administer medical aid.”

“Their heroism yesterday saved lives,” Mayorkas added.

The U.S. is well below the world average in terms of the number of mass public shootings, and the global increase over time has been much bigger than for the United States.

Over the 18 years from 1998 to 2015, our list contains 2,354 attacks and at least 4,880 shooters outside the United States and 53 attacks and 57 shooters within our country. By our count, the US makes up less than 1.15% of the mass public shooters, 1.49% of their murders, and 2.20% of their attacks. All these are much less than the US’s 4.6% share of the world population. Attacks in the US are not only less frequent than other countries, but they are also much less deadly on average.

Out of the 97 countries where we have identified mass public shootings occurring, the United States ranks 64th in the per capita frequency of these attacks and 65th in the murder rate.

Not only have these attacks been much more common outside the US, the US’s share of these attacks have declined over time. There has been a much bigger increase over time in the number and severity of mass shootings in the rest of the world compared to the US.

I think it is discouraged but not a hard ban. Maybe we get some strikes before it blocks us from saying it again for awhile. Not sure how such a system would work.

'''WEF wants kids to learn in the metaverse to curb climate change

Pushing for virtual life.'''

“Disconnecting” children from the physical world and “plugging them” into a virtual one is the way to go when it comes to the future of education, according to the World Economic Forum (WEF).

This is one of the “gems” that have come out of this year’s gathering in Davos, with a post on WEF’s website arguing that this direction is necessary, among other things, to combat climate change – rather, pressure to do so will drive the digitization of education. Other reasons would be better quality, accessibility, and affordability of education.

Children, now overly “reliant” on items like textbooks, notebooks, and pencils as learning tools, should in the future become immersed in virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality environments, writes Dr. Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri.

The pandemic is cited as a good example of how digital tools can be used for online education, but, according to the author, they are not enough, because students were merely being transferred knowledge instead of having practical and “in person” experience.

The post laments that while technological advancements are being widely used to transform administrative and services sectors, this is currently not enough to disrupt education.

“These advancements’ infiltration of education systems has become an increasing imperative,” says Al Dhaheri, who thinks VR will be a crucial element in future “experiential learning” that lets students see, hear, touch, and act in a virtual world.

Federal red flag gun bill could gain bipartisan support after Texas mass shooting

Bipartisan discussions regarding a red flag gun bill are underway in the U.S. Senate.

Discussions about a potential bipartisan agreement on a red flag gun bill are currently underway in the Senate following the mass shooting at a Texas elementary school.

The state of Florida passed a red flag bill after the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018. The law has reportedly been employed 6,000 times, according to a local media report.

A similar bill is currently being considered after the shooting that claimed the lives of at least 19 children Tuesday at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.

In total, 19 states have red flag laws designed to keep guns out of the hands of violent or mentally ill individuals.

"We talked about the red flag," said Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.). "It's worked. It's worked in states such as Florida. It's been very effective."

Sen. Mike Braun (R-Ind.) said he would consider voting for red flag legislation.

"I'm going to look at anything that has practical application and the ability to pass that's going to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill," he said.

Curtis Heide, a key FBI agent during the false arrest of my friend Roger Stone testified under oath, in front of a jury, that he knew from the summer of 2016! that the Russia BS was fake, yet he still participated and helped perpetuate this criminal hoax on Roger and his family as well as on the American people. Someone MUST go to jail for this. Those in the FBI should be ashamed of themselves!

Something stinks in Georgia.

"In the race for insurance commissioner, Trump-endorsed candidate Patrick Witt lost to a nobody named John King — and John King got 70% of the votes!

Now take a look at Patrick Witt’s numbers county by county: he got the same percentage of votes in 122 out of 159 counties in Georgia.

Let me repeat: the same percentage. Patrick Witt gets the same percentage in deep blue counties as he gets in deep red counties. Uniform numbers."

Reporter - Should police have went in sooner?

Officer - That’s a tough question.. Our job is to report the facts.. 🤯🤯

Reporter- Is it true parents were urging police to go in the building and asking to borrow police gear while waiting on the swat team?

Officer - I have heard that information, but we have not verified. It may be rumor.
