Demonstrators demanding an ‘end to vaccine mandates’ and the sacking of the government

Several anti-vaccine-mandate marches were organized by the ‘Convoy to Canberra’ movement in the Australian capital of Canberra on Saturday. Groups of protesters moved in several directions in the city center, blocking traffic and converged near the parliament buildings.

Banners reading “No jabs for jobs,” “Hands off our kids,” and “My body, my choice” were seen at the rallies, footage from RT’s Ruptly video agency showed. Other banners read “Since 2020 I’ve lost my chance to say goodbye,” and “Together united we will never be defeated.”

Demonstrators wrapped in flags chanted “Sack them all” in reference to the Australian government as they marched through the streets, while calling to “Save the children” and “Save Australia.”

Police cars accompanied the protest, which appeared peaceful.

One man who joined the movement told Ruptly that he considered the government’s stringent Covid-19 restrictions to be a “breach of our constitution” and the rule of law. He accused the authorities of taking “total control” of the people.

Freedom Convoy movement spreads across the globe

Another protester with a loudspeaker told the cheering crowd that the convoy would stay in the city “for as long as it takes to make a statement that we are not going to stand idly by” in response to the government’s policies. He also called for an “end to the vaccine mandates.”

Protests have been ongoing in the Australian capital this month, with between 10,000 and 15,000 people camping outside the national parliament. The latest marches did not attract crowds as large, but hundreds still attended from across the country.

The smaller size of the gathering should not “dishearten” anyone, a man filming the event told local media, saying that the rallies “are very spread out.”

Demonstrations against coronavirus restrictions and mandatory vaccination in particular have been gaining momentum around the world. Inspired by the original ‘Freedom Convoy’ in Canada, where truckers occupied downtown Ottawa and blocked border crossings, people have also recently driven trucks and other vehicles to central governmental precincts in Finland and New Zealand.

Reports: Alleged Epstein Pimp Discovered Hanged in French Prison Cell

Jean-Luc Brunel, the French modeling agent accused of procuring over 1,000 women and girls for Jeffrey Epstein, was discovered hanging in his Paris prison cell Saturday morning while “security cameras were reportedly not working.”

The 76-year-old’s “apparent suicide” bears striking similarities to Epstein’s death in August of 2019, where “US authorities later said that ‘technical errors’ led to the CCTV footage of the convicted sex offender’s prison cell being lost,” the Daily Express reports.

“A night patrol found his lifeless body at about 1am,” a source told the Daily Mail of Brunel’s death. “A judicial enquiry has been launched, and early evidence points to suicide.”

The Daily Express reports that the apparent suicide occurred in a section of the prison “where the security cameras were reportedly not working.”

“Brunel is thought to have been alone at the time of his death and there were no cameras to record his final hours, according to an investigating source at La Santé – one of the toughest jails in France,” Daily Mail reports.

His lawyers, Mathias Chichportich, Marianne Abgrall, and Christophe Ingrain, released a statement on his death, according to French newspaper Le Monde:

His distress was that of a 75-year-old man crushed by a media-judicial system on which it would be time to wonder. Jean-Luc Brunel has continued to proclaim his innocence. He multiplied his efforts to prove it. His decision was not driven by guilt, but by a deep sense of injustice.

Several models have leveled accusations against Brunel, who was indicted last June for alleged “rape of a minor over 15 years old,” Le Monde reports. Brunel was already in pre-trial detention following previous allegations that resulted in a December 2020 indictment for “rape of a minor over 15 years old” and “sexual harassment” of two other women.

In November 2021, he was briefly released from detention under judicial supervision, but after a few days, the Paris Court of Appeal decided to return him to custody, according to Le Monde.

Moreover, Virginia Giuffre, who settled a sexual-assault civil suit with Epstein pal Prince Andrew out of court last week for $16.3 million, as Breitbart News reported, previously accused Brunel of abusing her, according to the Daily Express.

In a 2015 affidavit, Giuffre stated that Epstein boasted having slept with upwards of 1,000 women that Brunel procured, according to the Daily Beast.

“A lot of the girls came from poor countries or poor backgrounds, and he lured them in with a promise of making good money,” Giuffre said in the affidavit. “Jeffrey Epstein has told me that he has slept with over 1,000 of Brunel’s girls, and everything that I have seen confirms this claim.”

In court documents that were filed in both the United States and France, Guiffre said she had “sexual relations with Brunel on several occasion” when she was aged 16-19, Daily Express reports.

Brunel emphatically denied the allegations, just as the queen’s son did. Brunel was awaiting trial on a date yet to be scheduled when he was discovered dead Saturday.

The 76-year-old has faced sexual allegations since the late 1980s, and a CBS documentary that aired in 1988 chronicled models’ allegations that the agent had drugged and sexually abused them, Daily Express reports.

In France, the rape of a minor carries a sentence of up to 15 years, per the outlet.

Ghislaine Maxwell's Family 'Fears For Her Safety' After Epstein "Pimp" Jean-Luc Brunel Found Hanged

Update (1540ET): Reporters who have been following the Epstein case have started to weigh in on Twitter, noting that Brunel's death was "a devastating setback for the victims."

Even the family of Ghislaine Maxwell, who is still imprisoned, now allegedly "fears for her safety" after the second death of a high-profile offender related to the case who was in a highly secure facility.

The NYPost reached out to Maxwell's brother, Ian Maxwell, who told the New York tabloid that his family is extremely concerned after Brunel's death - allegedly suicide by hanging, circumstances similar to those surrounding the death of Epstein himself -

"It’s really shocking," Ian Maxwell, one of Ghislaine’s siblings, told The Post. "Another death by hanging in a high-security prison. My reaction is one of total shock and bewilderment."

In an interview from his home in London, Maxwell said the family “fears for her safety” at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn where she is being held.

Maxwell is due to be sentenced in June. The family added that it's unconscionable that Brunel wasn't on suicide watch, and reiterated that Maxwell has never expressed being suicidal.

As we said below, Maxwell is due to be sentenced in June. Her attorney Bobbi Sternheim refused to comment.

Stop us if you've seen this one before…

Alternatively described as Jeffrey Epstein's "best mate" and "pimp", Jean-Luc Brunel, a former French modeling agent who has been imprisoned since 2020 on charges he aided Epstein's sex-trafficking enterprise, has committed suicide in his cell, according to French newspapers Le Monde and Le Parisian.

He was found hanged in his prison cell at La SantĂŠ in Paris just a week after Prince Andrew reached a multi-million dollar settlement with Virginia Giuffre, an Epstein trafficking victim whom Brunel was also alleged to have abused.

Brunel, 76, had been indicted and imprisoned in December 2020 after being denied bail following accusations of rape and sexual assault of minors. including three 12-year-old sisters. He also faced investigation over human trafficking and being part of a criminal conspiracy amid his association with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

Specifically, he is alleged to have flown the three sisters to America from Paris so they could be a "birthday present" for Epstein. He is known to have taken at least 25 trips on Epstein's private plane, "the Lolita Express". When Epstein was locked up in 2008, he was a regular visitor to his jail in Florida.

Media reports have repeatedly described Brunel as a key member of Epstein's inner circle. However, now that he is gone, it's believed he will take many secrets to his grave. His old pal Epstein was also found "hanged" in his cell in Manhattan pending trial back in 2019. In that case, the guards who were supposed to be watching him later struck a plea deal to avoid jail time.

Prosecutors have opened an investigation into Brunel's cause of death.

The French fashion agent was originally detained at Charles de Gaulle Airport as he was about to fly to Senegal.

Brunel denied involvement "directly or indirectly" in any of Epstein’s alleged crimes in a statement he issued in 2015. It read: "I strongly deny having committed any illicit act or any wrongdoing in the course of my work."

But Giuffre alleged that Brunel "farmed out" modelling hopefuls to the pedophile, as well as other men, for sex. She also claimed she was once forced to have sex with Brunel at Epstein’s home. She also alleged that Brunel once set up a photo-shoot with seven Russian girls which Prince Andrew watched.

She later claimed in an affidavit that Epstein had slept with "over 1,000" of Brunel's girls.

In 2019, French cops raided the offices of Karin Models, an agency founded by Brunel. They received evidence from several of his former victims who waived their anonymity to speak out.

New Zealander Zoe Brock has claimed in statements made to French investigators that she was abused in his Paris home in the early 1990s. Meanwhile, Dutch model Thysia Huisman, who was 18 when she first stayed with Brunel, said she was raped by him in 1991.

Brunel's former associate, Ghislaine Maxwell (who allegedly introduced him to Epstein) was found guilty in the US back in December. Her sentencing has been tentatively set for June.

Trump Accuses Democrats of Looking for ‘Their Next Scam’ Amid Controversy Over Classified Docs

On Friday, the US National Archives and Records Administration confirmed that 15 boxes-worth of classified documents were taken to Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate after he left the White House last January.

Former president Donald Trump has dismissed media reporting on the transfer of classified documents to his private Florida residence, insisting that nothing illegal or improper took place.

“The National Archives did not ‘find’ anything, they were given, upon request, Presidential Records in an ordinary and routine process to ensure the preservation of my legacy and in accordance with the Presidential Records Act. If this was anyone but ‘Trump’, there would be no story here. Instead, the Democrats are in search of their next Scam,” Trump said in a statement.

The former president’s comments follow a report citing a NARA letter to a Democratic lawmaker stating that documents labeled “classified national security information” were “identified” within the 15 boxes of papers taken from the White House by Trump after he left office, and that the agency has “been in communication with the Department of Justice” over the matter.

“The Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax turned out to be a Democrat-inspired fake story to help Crooked Hillary Clinton. Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax #2, and so much more, has all been a Hoax. The Fake News is making it seem like me, the President of the United States, was working in a filing room [sic],” Trump wrote. “Instead of focusing on America, the media just wants to talk about their plan to ‘get’ Trump,” he added.

The former president reportedly transferred the boxes of documents back to the agency in January. The documents are said to have included “love letters” between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, with whom the Republican had formed a close personal rapport during his time in office, as well as a letter from former president Barack Obama.

NARA has asked Trump’s representatives to “continue to search for any additional Presidential records that have not been transferred” to the agency, “as required by the Presidential Records Act.”

The spat over the records could provide new ammunition for Democrats looking to permanently bar Trump from making a presidential comeback attempt in 2024. Previous efforts, including two impeachment trials, a bid to have Vice President Mike Pence replace Trump following the 6 January Capitol riots on constitutional grounds, a criminal probe into the billionaire’s finances, and a House of representatives probe on 6 January, have so far failed to secure legal grounds to prevent Trump from making another run for public office.
