Canadian clergy rebuke Trudeau for invoking Emergencies Act, other 'tyrannical actions'

A group of Canadian clergy sent an open letter to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau earlier this week rebuking him for invoking the Emergencies Act to quell the Freedom Convoy and for other actions they described as "tyrannical."

"We are writing to you as representative pastors of Christian congregations from across the nation and as law-abiding citizens who respect the God-defined role of civil government and uphold the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the highest law of our land, which recognizes the supremacy of God over all human legislation," read the letter, which was signed by 29 clergymen and remains open for other Canadians to sign.

Explaining their repeated, earnest attempts to prayerfully redress their grievances with all levels of government regarding "indefinite suspension of civil liberties, coercive mandates and perpetual state interference in the life, freedom and worship of the church," the pastors denounced Trudeau for cracking down on the Freedom Convoy instead of hearing them out. They emphasized that members of the clergy are a part of the convoy.

"The Ottawa protest has presented your government with a wonderful opportunity to meet with and speak to ordinary Canadians lawfully and peaceably requiring the restoration of their constitutional rights," they wrote.

"However, in response to their singing, praying, dancing, candy floss, bouncy castles, speeches about the Constitution and outpourings of patriotic love for the country, your government has not only refused to meet with these citizens to hear their concerns, you have insulted, denigrated and lied about them, further dividing a hurting and broken nation."

The pastors went on to rebuke Trudeau and his government for seemingly believing that they have the authority to bestow and remove fundamental rights at will.

"Your government does not grant people the right to their bodily integrity, the right to work or earn a living, the right to decide for their children or to be with their families or dying loved ones, the right to gather to worship and obey God, the right to travel in their own land or enter and leave. Civil government exists to protect these pre-political and fundamental freedoms, not bestow and remove them as if it can function in the place of God."

The pastors also condemned Trudeau "in the strongest possible terms" for his "unprecedented" invocation of the Emergencies Act to stop the Freedom Convoy protests and blockades. "There is no national emergency and to invoke one to crush peaceful political dissent is a totalitarian act of repression displaying weakness not strength," they said.

"These tyrannical actions are exposing this government and people to the judgment of God, and we are deeply concerned that you do not appreciate the significance of God’s wrath upon a rebellious and lawless nation," they warned in closing.

The pastors concluded by urging Trudeau "to repent of the sins of pride, rebellion against God, and bearing false witness."

"You have not displayed a brotherly care and love for these honest hard-working people who have tried to peacefully bring their very serious concerns to your attention," they added.

Video circulated widely on social media Friday of police decked out in riot gear cracking down on convoy protesters in Ottawa by arresting them, tear-gassing them, and deploying officers on horseback through the crowds.

Among the signatories of the open letter was Rev. Tim Stephens, who was arrested twice last year in front of his family when his Fairview Baptist Church in Calgary continued to congregate. His second arrest, which happened after a police helicopter found his church gathering outside, prompted Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., to send a letter to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) urging it to consider adding Canada to its watch list.

The pastoral letter was organized by Liberty Coalition Canada, a Christian activist organization that was also behind the initiative urging ministers in Canada and the United States to devote their sermons on Jan. 16 to denouncing Bill C-4. The new Canadian law carries a potential five-year jail sentence for counseling that does not affirm homosexuality and transgender identity.

Approximately 5,000 churches joined in the protest from the pulpit, which took place less than a week before the first convoy departed for Ottawa from Prince Rupert, British Columbia, on Jan. 22.

NARA Confirms Classified Info Found in Docs That Trump Took to Mar-a-Lago After Leaving Office

The development comes as speculation grows that Trump could be investigated by federal authorities for suspected crimes related to his handling of presidential documents.

The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) announced on Friday that classified information was discovered in the 15 boxes of documents taken to Mar-a-Lago, Florida, by former President Donald Trump after he left the office in January last year.

In a letter to Congress, the government agency stated that documents labeled "classified national security information" were discovered in the boxes confiscated from Trump's residence.

"NARA has identified items marked as classified national security information within the boxes. […] Because NARA identified classified information in the boxes, NARA staff has been in communication with the Department of Justice," the agency said in a letter to Democrat Rep. Carolyn Maloney of New York, who is chair of the House Oversight Committee.

The letter, which is a response to Maloney's inquiry, signed by NARA archivist David Ferriero, added that the Trump administration failed to capture and preserve "certain social media records."

"NARA has also learned that some White House staff conducted official business using non-official electronic messaging accounts that were not copied or forwarded into their official electronic messaging accounts," per the letter.

In response to a question of what steps NARA has already taken, and what it is currently doing to guarantee that any further records not turned over to NARA are not lost or destroyed, the agency said that it has "asked the representatives of former President Trump to continue to search for any additional Presidential records that have not been transferred to NARA, as required by the Presidential Records Act (PRA)."

"After the end of the Trump Administration, NARA learned that additional paper records that had been torn up by former President Trump were included in the records transferred to us," Ferriero noted about some of the documents allegedly not preserved by the administration. "Although White House staff during the Trump Administration recovered and taped together some of the torn-up records, a number of other torn-up records that were transferred had not been reconstructed by the White House."

Instead of handing over 15 boxes of documents to the Archives, Trump took them to Mar-a-Lago after he stepped down from the presidency. Last month, the former president had to return those boxes to the agency.

According to a report from earlier this month, the boxes contained "love letters" between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, as well as a letter from former President Barack Obama.

Officials at the National Archives reportedly feared that the former president had broken the law when it came to handling government documents, particularly secret documents, and urged the Justice Department to investigate.

Representatives for Trump reportedly told the NARA that they were "continuing to search for additional presidential records that belong to the National Archives" in accordance with the PRA.

Wife of Navy nuclear engineer pleads guilty in submarine spy case

A former private school teacher will serve up to three years in prison after pleading guilty Friday to helping her husband in what both believed was a plot to sell closely guarded American secrets to a foreign power.

The plea by Diana Toebbe, 46, comes after her husband admitted guilt on Monday, Valentine's Day, and implicated her in his crimes. Both are being held in a jail in West Virginia, where they were arrested in October.

The Justice Department said Diana Toebbe, who has a Ph.D. in anthropology, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to communicate restricted data related to nuclear designs, which carries a maximum statutory penalty of up to life in prison.

Under the terms of her deal, she will serve a sentence of not more than 36 months, the Justice Department said. A federal judge will decide the exact sentence after a pre-sentence investigation and hearing.

Her husband, Jonathan Toebbe, 43, is a former Navy nuclear engineer who was accused of trying to pass information about designs for nuclear-powered submarines to an undercover FBI agent posing as a representative of a foreign government. Prosecutors say Toebbe hid memory cards containing the sensitive information inside peanut butter sandwiches, Band-aid wrappers and chewing gum packages.

At a hearing Monday in a West Virginia courtroom, Jonathan Toebbe pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to communicate restricted data. The plea agreement calls for a possible sentence of 12 ½ to 17 ½ years in prison.

Prosecutors said in court filings that the scheme began in April 2020 when Jonathan Toebbe, who worked on the Navy’s nuclear propulsion program, mailed a package of restricted information to representatives of a foreign country, offering to reveal many more secrets in exchange for up to $5 million in cryptocurrency.

After the U.S. government learned about the offer, the FBI reached out to him, pretending to be from the country he contacted. The country was not identified in the court filings.

Prosecutors said he at first wanted to deal strictly by email but later agreed to store the data on SD cards, which he would leave at designated “dead drop” locations.

Investigators said he concealed the cards in half a peanut butter sandwich, a chewing gum package and a sealed Band-Aid wrapper, making the drops in June, July, August and October. Court documents said the cards included designs for the Navy’s Virginia-class submarines, nuclear-powered fast-attack vessels incorporating stealth technology that are able to fire cruise missiles.

By Aug. 28, the FBI had paid Jonathan Toebbe $100,000 in cryptocurrency, the documents say. The next day, he sent an email thanking the person he believed was his foreign intelligence handler, according to the court documents.

“One day, when it is safe, perhaps two old friends will have a chance to stumble into each other at a cafe, share a bottle of wine and laugh over stories of their shared exploits,” he wrote, according to the court filings.

“I will always remember your bravery in serving your country and your commitment to helping me,” he added, the filings say.

Jonathan Toebbe has agreed to give back the $100,000 and the restricted data he took.

The couple, who live in Maryland, has two young children.

The plea documents don’t specify a motive, but court documents previously filed in the case suggest the company had money problems and also were extremely frustrated with the direction of the country under President Donald Trump.

Melania Trump slams 'dream killers' in the media after reports on Florida charity probe

Former first lady Melania TrumpMelania TrumpMelania Trump unveils new line of NFTs Trump used Secret Service agent's phone to call Melania Trump after Stormy Daniels report: CNN Melania Trump's 'high teas' under investigation in Florida MORE blasted “dream killers” in the media following reporting on an investigation launched by Florida officials into a fundraiser of hers.

Tickets for a charitable “high tea” event, set to take place in April, are being sold by Trump, and the profits are supposedly going toward the “Fostering the Future” initiative of her "Be Best" endeavor, The New York Times reported Saturday.

But neither Fostering the Future or "Be Best" are registered charities in Florida, the newspaper noted. Florida officials told the Times that the Consumer Services Division was conducting a probe into the fundraiser.

“Despite my actions, the press continues to publish inaccurate, misleading, and outright incorrect articles about my work. The media has created a narrative whereby I am trying to act in an illegal or unethical manner,” Trump said in a statement on Friday.

“That portrayal is simply untrue and adversely affects the children I hope to support. Those who attack my initiatives and create the appearance of impropriety are quite literally dream killers. They have canceled the hopes and dreams of children by trying to cancel me.”

In her statement, she indicated she was the victim of a “politically motivated decision” recently regarding her Fostering the Future initiative, in which she said that an Oklahoma school that was supposed to receive scholarships decided against working with her.

“Recently, a computer science school founded in Silicon Valley with a campus in Oklahoma agreed to work with Fostering the Future. Multiple scholarships were going to be granted through the school’s preferred designated fund, based in Tulsa, with the first class of students enrolling in Fall 2022,” Trump wrote.

“I had signed the Designated Fund Agreement and was waiting for the countersignature when the school informed me it would no longer participate. They would not accept scholarship dollars for deserving students—even as an anonymous gift. It was made clear to me that the school’s Board of Directors organized a politically motivated decision,” she added.

She claimed it was the not the first time that her mission "to support children" had been impeded by politics, but said, "Supporting children is not, and should never be, part of a political agenda."

The violence has escalated in Canada and the Genie will not go back in the bottle. Dictators willing never give up their power. I pray for you Canada, gather the strenght to stop it before it starts, for if you wait too long the horrors you will endure will be beyond imagining.

WE SHALL BE CRUEL

18. Our absolutism will in all things be logically consecutive and therefore in each one of its decrees our supreme will must be respected and unquestionably fulfilled: it will ignore all murmurs, all discontents of every kind and will destroy to the root every kind of manifestation of them in act by punishment of an exemplary character.

19. We shall abolish the right of appeal, which will be transferred exclusively to our disposal - to the cognizance of him who rules, for we must not allow the conception among the people of a thought that there could be such a thing as a decision that is not right of judges set up by us. If, however, anything like this should occur, we shall ourselves quash the decision, but inflict therewith such exemplary punishment on the judge for lack of understanding of his duty and the purpose of his appointment as will prevent a repetition of such cases …. I repeat that it must be born in mind that we shall know every step of our administration which only needs to be closely watched for the people to be content with us, for it has the right to demand from a good government a good official

20. OUR GOVERNMENT WILL HAVE THE APPEARANCE OF A PATRIARCHAL PATERNAL GUARDIANSHIP ON THE PART OF OUR RULER. Our own nation and our subjects will discern in his person a father caring for their every need, their every act, their every interrelation as subjects one with another, as well as their relations to the ruler. They will then be so thoroughly imbued with the thought that it is impossible for them to dispense with this wardship and guidance, if they wish to live in peace and quiet, THAT THEY WILL ACKNOWLEDGE THE AUTOCRACY OF OUR RULER WITH A DEVOTION BORDERING ON "APOTHEOSIS," especially when they are convinced that those whom we set up do not put their own in place of authority, but only blindly execute his dictates. They will be rejoiced that we have regulated everything in their lives as is done by wise parents who desire to train children in the cause of duty and submission. For the peoples of the world in regard to the secrets of our polity are ever through the ages only children under age, precisely as are also their governments.

21. As you see, I found our despotism on right and duty: the right to compel the execution of duty is the direct obligation of a government which is a father for its subjects. It has the right of the strong that it may use it for the benefit of directing humanity towards that order which is defined by nature, namely, submission. Everything in the world is in a state of submission, if not to man, then to circumstances or its own inner character, in all cases, to what is stronger. And so shall we be this something stronger for the sake of good.

22. We are obliged without hesitation to sacrifice individuals, who commit a breach of established order, for in the exemplary punishment of evil lies a great educational problem.

23. When the King of Israel sets upon his sacred head the crown offered him by Europe he will become patriarch of the world. The indispensable victims offered by him in consequence of their suitability will never reach the number of victims offered in the course of centuries by the mania of magnificence, the emulation between the GOY governments.

24. Our King will be in constant communion with the peoples, making to them from the tribune speeches which fame will in that same hour distribute over all the world. == ← ""antichrist
