(NYT) President Biden’s surgeon general on Thursday formally requested that the major tech platforms submit information about the scale of Covid-19 misinformation on social networks, search engines, crowdsourced platforms, e-commerce platforms and instant messaging systems.
The surgeon general, Dr. Vivek Murthy, also demanded information from the platforms about the major sources of Covid-19 misinformation, including those that engaged in the sale of unproven Covid-19 products, services and treatments.

The Force Investigation Team is examining evidence after multiple officers shot a man when he reportedly rammed his car into the Federal building and fired a rifle downtown.
People began calling 911 around 8:10 PM to report the sounds of gunshots near the intersection of 1 Avenue and Yesler Street as well as the 100 block of Marion Street.
Responding officers found the suspect in the 100 block of Marion street where he had crashed his vehicle into the Federal building. Officers attempted to contact the man who was reportedly still armed, and for reasons that remain under investigation, opened fire striking the suspect.
Seattle Police Officers and Seattle Fire Department Medics attempted medical aid but the suspect died at the scene.

Armed intruder arrested after lockdown prompted at Joint Base Andrews

MARYLAND- Joint Base Andrews was locked down Sunday night after two people intruded the base.
According to JBA officials, around 9 p.m. today, a vehicle drove through the security checkpoint at the Main Gate.
Officials say barriers were immediately deployed and stopped the vehicle. The two individuals fled the vehicle, and one was taken into custody. The one who was arrested had a weapon.
According to officials, they are still searching for the other intruder.
No shots were fired.
Officials say there is not an active shooter situation at JBA, but the other intruder’s whereabouts are unknown as of now.
The main gate remains currently closed and traffic is being diverted to the Virginia Gate.
Roland Martin, who was on the base, tweeted JBA went on lockdown and says helicopters were seen flying around.
Reports say the incident took place shortly after Vice President Kamala Harris touched down from Selma, but both have left via Marine Two before the report was made public.
Harris and the Cabinet members went to Selma for the anniversary of Bloody Sunday, in which police beat and tear-gassed Black voting rights marchers in 1965.
The president was not at the base because he traveled directly from Delaware to the White House via a helicopter, the Washington Post reports.

White House director of social media Dan Scavino blasted Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) in a tweet late Wednesday night, calling the Republican senator a "hater."
Citing reports that Flake was "troubled" by the Wednesday actions of House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), Scavino tweeted, "Is hater Jeff Flake a Republican?"
Flake reportedly said earlier Wednesday that he was "very troubled" by Nunes's surprise announcement earlier in the day that he had seen intelligence reports that showed authorities had incidentally gathered information on members of the Trump transition team.
Nunes made the announcement at a press conference, saying the information had been "widely disseminated" and "unmasked" several individuals from the Trump team. He later briefed the White House about what he had seen before discussing the information with the rest of the committee.
