If you kill someone in self-defense in Canada you're a murderer. There's an "escalation of force" rule, meaning if you're attacked by an unarmed man you're legally not able to retaliate with deadly force. Take note that a large percentage of Judges will be left-leaning and therefore unsympathetic to anyone that defends themselves.
