Belarus has moved to impose penalties of its own by banning import goods from countries that have introduced sanctions against Minsk. (TASS)

“In order to protect national interests, the government of the republic of Belarus decided to ban import of a number of goods originating from the states applying illegal anti-Belarusian sanctions," the foreign ministry stated.

The EU enforced a fifth package of anti-Belarusian sanctions on December 2, which hit 17 individuals and 11 organizations connected to state activities.
