A 51-year-old New York Times correspondent Brent Renaud was shot dead in Irpen today. Another journalist was injured. Now they are trying to take the victim out of the combat zone.

While Renaud’s death is being attributed to Russia, this info is sourced only to Ukraine officials. It does appear Renaud was killed in an area under Ukrainian control while wearing an old NYT press badge, but he hasn’t contributed anything to the NYT since 2015.
