UVALDE, Texas —
A gunman opened fire at a Texas elementary school on Tuesday morning, killing multiple students and one teacher.
Here’s what we’ve learned so far:
• 18 children and three adults were shot and killed at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday morning, according to a state senator briefed by the Texas Rangers.
• The shooter has been identified as 18-year-old Salvador Romas, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said. Romas is dead.
• Authorities believe the suspect acted alone.
• The suspect's grandmother was shot prior to the school shooting. Authorities believe the shootings are linked. Sources initially reported that she had died, but a Texas state senator said she was still alive.
• Two police officers were also shot. They are expected to survive.
• The school district's superintendent said that the remainder of the school year and all activities have been canceled.
