Facebook and tech giants to target attacker manifestos, far-right militias in database
July 26 (Reuters) - A counterterrorism organization formed by some of the biggest U.S. tech companies including Facebook (FB.O) and Microsoft (MSFT.O) is significantly expanding the types of extremist content shared between firms in a key database, aiming to crack down on material from white supremacists and far-right militias, the group told Reuters.
Until now, the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism's (GIFCT) database has focused on videos and images from terrorist groups on a United Nations list and so has largely consisted of content from Islamist extremist organizations such as Islamic State, al Qaeda and the Taliban.
Over the next few months, the group will add attacker manifestos often shared by sympathizers after white supremacist violence and other publications and links flagged by U.N. initiative Tech Against Terrorism. It will use lists from intelligence-sharing group Five Eyes, adding URLs and PDFs from more groups, including the Proud Boys, the Three Percenters and neo-Nazis.
The firms, which include Twitter (TWTR.N) and Alphabet Inc's (GOOGL.O) YouTube, share "hashes," unique numerical representations of original pieces of content that have been removed from their services. Other platforms use these to identify the same content on their own sites in order to review or remove it.
While the project helps combat extremist content on mainstream platforms, groups can still post violent images and rhetoric on many other sites and parts of the internet.
The tech group wants to combat a wider range of threats, said GIFCT's Executive Director Nicholas Rasmussen in an interview with Reuters.
"Anyone looking at the terrorism or extremism landscape has to appreciate that there are other partsâŚthat are demanding attention right now," Rasmussen said, citing the threats of far-right or racially motivated violent extremism.
The tech platforms have long been criticized for failing to police violent extremist content, though they also face concerns over censorship. The issue of domestic extremism, including white supremacy and militia groups, took on renewed urgency following the deadly Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
Fourteen companies can access the GIFCT database, including Reddit, Snapchat-owner Snap (SNAP.N), Facebook-owned Instagram, Verizon (VZ.N) Media, Microsoft's LinkedIn and file-sharing service Dropbox (DBX.O).
GIFCT, which is now an independent organization, was created in 2017 under pressure from U.S. and European governments after a series of deadly attacks in Paris and Brussels. Its database mostly contains digital fingerprints of videos and images related to groups on the U.N. Security Council's consolidated sanctions list and a few specific live-streamed attacks, such as the 2019 mosque shootings in Christchurch, New Zealand.
GIFCT has faced criticism and concerns from some human and digital rights groups over censorship.
"Over-achievement in this takes you in the direction of violating someone's rights on the internet to engage in free expression," said Rasmussen.
The group wants to continue to broaden its database to include hashes of audio files or certain symbols and grow its membership. It recently added home-rental giant Airbnb (ABNB.O) and email marketing company Mailchimp as members.

Good News. The NYT has decided it's acceptable to discuss the topic of C19 vaccine failure
Even Dr. Fauci agrees. Perhaps, the mounting evidence is too substantive to ignore. Letâs consider some details and the implications.
Public health positioned respiratory vaccines as the magic cure-all. It would both save society and wash away their sins, like lockdowns, perhaps the worst policy idea ever. We were told the sacrifices of today would bring salvation tomorrow.
It takes years to properly develop a vaccine and no, gobs of cash and public health cheerleading doesn't change this reality. Nor does the warp speed cutting of regulatory corners at the expense of safety, efficiency and durability.
But perhaps more disturbing was the deliberate misrepresentation of their utility. It was argued, perhaps out of ignorance, that C19 vaccines would stop the infection, disease and transmission processes dead in their tracks. This was always a fantasy.
Respiratory vaccines, as currently conceived, can't effectively block viral infection or transmission. There are basic technical limitations. Perhaps, however, they would diminish disease severity, a worthy goal particularly for those at risk of hospitalization and death.
This assumption now seems uncertain, as data rolls in from Britain and Israel. 4-6 months out, relative vaccine efficacy has dropped markedly and the benefit of vaccination in preventing serious illness/death appears muted.
There are many aspects to vaccine failure at the population level and they are tricky. There's the issue of immunosenescence and breakthrough infections, the later a panicked result of vaccinating when viral circulation is high and the antigenic target small.
So that's the rub, the public collectively sacrificed for an end point that was never really achievable. This is the conservation that society is now avoiding as it drives to the heart of "trust" and "honesty". Ever more so, given the serious concerns with vaccine safety.
Avoiding this conversation has become a cottage industry in Canada. Public health has instead obsessed over vaccinating swaths of the population who aren't at personal risk and where benefit is marginal at best. This obsession has further eroded "trust".
The failure of public health to deal with reality has had wide ranging implications. It has spawned an ever-worsening campaign of coercion unhinged from the viral concern. Basic right/freedoms curtailed and medical ethics destroyed. It has been depressing predictable.
More seriously, the legitimacy of gov't is now being questioned along with public health given its continuous string of failure. The former will survive and later is far less certain given the magnitude of this debacle.

Ontario universities face legal fight over vaccination mandates
https://tnc.news/2021/07/26/ontario-universities-face-legal-fight-over-vaccination-mandates/
Ontario universities that require all students to get COVID-19 vaccines are staring down the barrel of a legal confrontation.
The Constitutional Rights Centre (CRC), which represents Childrenâs Health Defense Canada, announced on July 26 that it had sent legal notices to Western University and Seneca College. The documents threaten lawsuits unless the universities scrap their vaccine mandates.
The CRC says mandatory vaccines âhave no place in a Constitutional Democracy.â
Seneca College was the first post-secondary institution in Canada to require vaccinations for students returning to campus this fall. Those who do not comply will be left to resume their studies âonline or in a flexible-delivery format.â In its letter to Seneca, the CRC says the university contravenes its own discrimination and harassment policy by âmaking an arbitrary and unlawful distinction between vaccinated and unvaccinated students.â
Western University announced its COVID vaccine policy on May 27, 2021, which ârequires students living in residence to have received at least a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine preferably before their move-in date but at least within 14 days following their move-in date.â The CRC states that Westernâs mandate âruns afoul of the principles and objectives⌠of numerous statutes including, the Healthcare Consent Act, and the Personal Health Information Protection Act.â
In the letter to Western University, the CRC states that since âthe COVID-19 vaccine has not been approved by Health Canada for general use and has only been made available for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA), the decision and responsibility for mandating lies squarely and exclusively with the university.â
In Ontario, most universities, including the University of Waterloo, Wilfred Laurier University, the University of Guelph and the University of Toronto, have decided to mandate vaccines.
Standing in stark contrast to Ontario is Quebec, where most universities, including McGill and Concordia, do not require the COVID-19 vaccine.
McGill Universityâs âview is that [they] cannot legally require this in the Quebec context unless the Government mandates vaccination.â
On their website Concordia University writes, âto date, public health authorities have not given any directives that would require Concordia to make vaccinations mandatory for faculty, staff or students.â
The CRC says it is preparing to send letters to more institutions because âcolleges and universities are not above the law, especially the Constitution.â
âEducational institutions have no business pressuring, influencing, forcing, compelling, coercing, nor extorting students to assume an Emergency Use Authorization only inoculation as a term of attending,â asserts the CRC.

Would you let unvaccinated friends in your house? Torontonians respond
https://www.rebelnews.com/would_you_let_unvaccinated_friends_in_your_house_torontonians_respond
Last week, my fellow Rebel Kian Simone and I went to Yonge-Dundas Square in downtown Toronto. The reason for the excursion was to ask people: will the double vaccinated be inviting their unvaccinated friends and family into their homes? I have been faced with this very scenario myself, and wanted to gauge how common the sentiment of âno vax, no inviteâ was.
I was expecting most people to say, âno way will I invite unvaccinated people over.â But instead I was pleasantly surprised to find that many people said their friendsâ and family membersâ vaccination status wouldnât stop them from inviting them into their homes.
In fact, I was so prepared for people to be unwavering on this issue that I came equipped with harder questions like, âshould the unvaccinated be forced to easily identify themselves in public by wearing some visible marker?â Luckily, not a single person was interested in establishing measures as tyrannical as that.
The mainstream media seems to want us to think we are more divided than we are, instilling fear and disunity into our already fragmented culture with endless reminders about the importance of vaccination status.
It felt amazing to get outside under the bright July sun and talk to Torontonians of all different ideological backgrounds about this increasingly prevalent social issue.

COVID: The Wrecking Ball To Scientific Integrity
https://principia-scientific.com/covid-the-wrecking-ball-to-scientific-integrity/
Most Americans have at least until now maintained faith in the integrity of our scientific establishment. But COVID-19 and the scientific malfeasance it has spawned may be the wrecking ball that tears down even that pillar of faith.
The litany of scientific sins committed in the name of COVID-19 fear-mongering includes but is not limited to the publishing of false data in a leading medical journal, the publication of intentionally misleading articles masking the laboratory origins of the SARS-2 coronavirus and the subsequent deliberate withholding of evidence to the contrary, the smearing of lauded scientists who have questioned the severity of COVID-19 and/or the treatability of the disease, and the arrogance of medical authorities such as Robert Fauci that now-validated criticism of him and the official COVID-19 narrative is âanti-scienceâ.
The end result of all this is not merely academic, for hundreds of thousands of lives may have been lost and children not been born due to the scientific malfeasance.
One of the most egregious scientific acts was the article in Lancet in May of 2020âjust when COVID-19 was ramping upâthat argued that hydroxychloroquine (HCQ, sold as Plaquenil) was both ineffective and dangerous in treating COVID-19 symptoms.[1]
This contradicted the fact that HCQ had been sold safely for decades to millions of people over-the-counter in many nations for anti-malarial and other purposes and that leading virologists were already using it effectively to treat early COVID-19 symptoms.
By the time the bogus study was retracted, its results had already been trumpeted by the mainstream media and by leading health officials in their attacks on HCQ. Despite later meta-analyses indicating some treatment efficacy in the early stages of COVID,[2] the damage had already been inflicted.
HCQ was pulled off the market in many nations and is still banned for treating COIVD-19 in many, such as Australia.
Equally damaging were the outrageous predictions of over 500,000 dead Britons and two million Americans due to COVID-19 by epidemiologist Neil Ferguson of Imperial College in London, who back-pedaled his predictions after his conclusion led to the draconian lockdowns that have so greatly damaged Western society.[3]
By contrast, an important study disputing the official COVID-19 narrative, such as Briandâs epidemiological one in the Johns Hopkins News-Letter that questioned the lethality and accuracy of COVID-19 statistics[4], was retracted by the university in an unprecedented act of scientific censorship.
Lancet later figured in another important repugnant scientific actionâthe publication of a letter signed by over two dozen scientists condemning speculation that the Wuhan version of the SARS coronavirus might have been created in a laboratory.[5] It was surreptitiously written by Peter Daszak, the very scientist conducting dangerous gain-of-function viral research that was banned in the United States and who was attempting to create synthetically souped-up versions of the coronavirusâin Wuhan itself.
It is now widely accepted that the SARS-COVID-2 coronavirus was unnaturally cleaved at a furin site, but what is equally shocking is that many virologists knew this but refused to report it because they deemed it would support President Trumpâs statements on the origins of the virus.[6]

Canadian hospice vows to rebuild âcompletely independentâ from govât. to avoid euthanasia
https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/canadian-hospice-vows-to-rebuild-completely-independent-from-govt-to-avoid-euthanasia
âThe Government tried to destroy us because we refused to kill our patients, but we will rise like the Phoenix, better than ever.â
DELTA, British Columbia, July 28, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) â A hospice society in British Columbia has vowed to rebuild âcompletely independent from the governmentâ after it was evicted after 35 years by health officials for refusing to allow euthanasia at its palliative care facility.
âThe Government tried to destroy us because we refused to kill our patients, but we will rise like the Phoenix, better than ever,â Delta Hospice Society (DHS) president Angelina Ireland told LifeSiteNews. âWith Godâs help, no one will stop us.â
In a message sent out to supporters last week, Ireland said the DHS has a new vision to build another hospice free from the grips of government control: âOne built completely independent from the government. No Government money, no Government land, no Government interference, and most importantly â NO government forced killings.â
âWe understand the need is so great to protect people from MAiD [Medical Assistance in Dying] (Euthanasia) that we must continue to fight for Life until its natural end. We have embarked on a new movement called âHospice Sanctuaryâ and we hope to pave the way for independent, safe places for the dying free from euthanasia â all across this country.â
On March 29, 2021, DHS was evicted from its two buildings after the Fraser Health Authority, one of five publicly funded health care regions in British Columbia, canceled the lease.
The Canadian government legalized euthanasia â the lethal injection of sick patients â in 2016. Since that time, DHS had been under attack by both the provincial government and euthanasia activists because it refused to allow the practice at its palliative care hospice.
Ireland says that what the DHS needs now is for current members to renew their membership as well as for new people to consider joining them. ContinueâŚ

Feds withholding healthcare transfers to New Brunswick over abortion access
https://tnc.news/2021/07/28/feds-withholding-healthcare-transfers-to-new-brunswick-over-abortion-access/
Justin Trudeau says the federal government will be withholding healthcare transfers to New Brunswick because he claims the province is limiting access to abortion.
According to Trudeau, the New Brunswick government has not lived up to its obligations under the Canada Health Act because it continues to make it difficult for women to access abortions.
âMaking sure that every woman across this country has access to reliable reproductive services is extremely important to us, and thatâs why weâve continued ⌠to impress strongly upon the government of New Brunswick how it needs to keep up its obligations under the Canada Health Act,â Trudeau told reporters in Moncton, NB on Tuesday.
While Trudeau initially said the feds would be holding back millions of dollars, the Prime Ministerâs Office said after the news conference the correct figure is $140,216.
The New Brunswick government bans public funding for abortions conducted outside three approved hospitals. The provincial government subsidizes abortions at two hospitals in Moncton and one in Bathurst, but says it will not cover the cost of the procedure at the privately-owned Clinic 554 in Fredericton.
Pro-life advocacy group RightNow co-founder Alissa Golob sharply criticized Trudeauâs decision to withhold healthcare transfers to New Brunswick.
âJustin Trudeau is such an extremist on the abortion issue, he would rather withhold taxpayer dollars (without taxpayer consent) during a pandemic, than follow the Canada Health Act and let provinces decide funding decisions themselves,â Golob told True North.
âIn Trudeauâs twisted mind, killing children supersedes life-threatening medical conditions. Let that sink in.â
Trudeau said the feds will work to ensure all Canadians have access to abortions, including at Clinic 554.
In June, a New Brunswick judge authorized the Canadian Civil Liberties Association (CCLA) to mount a legal challenge to the provinceâs abortion law. The provincial government opposed the associationâs bid for standing, arguing the CCLA has no specific connection to the province.

Vandals behead statue of baby Jesus at Sudbury church
https://tnc.news/2021/07/28/vandals-behead-statue-of-baby-jesus-at-sudbury-church/
Vandals targeted a statue of the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus located at the Sainte-Anne-Des-Pins Catholic Church in Sudbury, Ont.
The statue of Jesus was beheaded.
Sainte-Anne-Des-Pins Catholic Church is the 56th church in Canada that has been vandalized, burned down or desecrated since the announcement of the apparent discovery of graves found near a residential school in Kamloops, BC.
Despite calls for calm by Indigenous leaders, Christian communities continue to be targeted by radical arsonists and vandals.
This isnât the first time the Sudbury church has been targeted by vandals.
âThe statue itself seems to be an article they focus on,â said Michel Chretien, with Sainte-Anne-Des-Pins. Earlier this year, the statue of Jesus was beheaded and had its arms broken off.
The church says there have been other property damaged over the past few years.
âWeâve had wires for the internet, wires for the air conditioning cut â even a few weeks back we had a small tree cut on the grounds,â Chretien said.
While the church has installed surveillance cameras, vandals continue to target the church.
âWe do pick up 10 to 30 needles a day, especially in the mornings. At the moment, we are studying the possibility of putting a fence around the church grounds. It should be done within the next (year) or so,â Chretien told CTV News.
Sudbury Police say they have increased their presence in the Sudbury downtown area.
âThis is a 52% increase in comparison to last year,â said spokesperson for the Greater Sudbury Police Service Kaitlyn Dunn.
âDuring COVID-19, we have seen a lot of our vulnerable population displaced in the downtown core and with this reduction in foot traffic as well as vehicle traffic, we have seen an increase in the visibility of crime. So, break and enters, mischiefs, and property thefts.â

Class of 2021 will lose $2,000 annually for the first five years after graduation: think tank
https://tnc.news/2021/07/28/class-of-2021-will-lose-2000-annually-for-the-first-five-years-after-graduation-think-tank/
Government-mandated COVID-19 lockdowns have hurt young Canadian workers: according to a memo released by the C.D. Howe Institute, the unemployment rate among 15 to 24-year-olds rose from 10% in February 2020 to almost 30% by May 2020.
The authors of the memo note, âit is well documented that adverse labour market entry conditions result in lower lifetime earnings, poorer health and lower life expectancy compared to graduating when labour market conditions are strong.â
The authors estimate that âa typical 2021 graduate will lose approximately $2,000 annually for the first five years after graduation; this is equivalent to a loss of 5â12% of the amount they would have earned over the first five years if the pandemic had not occurred.â
This loss in wages occurs because it takes longer for individuals to find jobs, and they accept lower-paying jobs than they would have in a better labour market.
Whatâs even more concerning is that half of university graduates had debt prior to the pandemic, owing an average amount of $28,000, according to a 2020 Statistics Canada report. The report predicts that students may incur more debt to weather the pandemic and compensate for the loss of income.
Effective April 2021, the federal government suspended the accumulation of interest on student loans until March 31, 2023.
Federal Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation Franco Terrazzano told True North that âstudents have been struggling through the downturn and they need relief, but itâs important for politicians not to substitute a mountain of government debt for student debt.â
âRight now, each Canadian owes about $57,000 in government debt, and these same younger taxpayers will face an even larger government debt bill if politicians donât put away the credit cards.â
According to Terrazzano, âpoliticians should help young Canadians by reducing the cost of living and setting the stage for business and job growth. But to do that, politicians need to rein in all the deficit spending, reduce taxes and cut red tape.â

Canadian federal government chooses their war on plastic over their war on COVID
https://www.rebelnews.com/canadian_federal_government_chooses_their_war_on_plastic_over_their_war_on_covid
In a story of competing nonsensical ideas, let me show you how the feds chose their war on plastic over their war on COVID.
The federal government actually created a communications plan to discourage people from using disposable masks, in the name of fighting plastic pollution.
We found the information in a larger access to information package that wasnât exclusively provided to Rebel News, but was released as part of proactive disclosure, meaning if someone else files for these things, eventually they get released to everyone. And we do what other people donât, and thatâs go back and read them. To see what was missed or ignored.
There was a war taking place in the pages of these documents. A virtue signalling war. Which is higher on the Liberal totem pole? Wearing a mask, or saving the planet?
The briefing note starts off by acknowledging the problem:
Personal protective equipment and its packaging are frequently single-use products containing or made entirely of plastic.
You'll recall that the Liberals are banning single-use plastics entirely. Anyway, let's go on.
Outside healthcare settings, Canadians are being asked to wear non-medical face coverings in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The quantity of plastic waste generated by single-use masks with some ending up as litter is increasing.
And here is the moral dilemma for the Liberals. Because they must acknowledge single-use plastics are saving lives. But they also acknowledge that the mask mandates across the country are increasing garbage.
So here we go. The battle of the moral hierarchy.
Health Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada, and the Public Health Agency of Canada are receiving inquiries regarding plastic PPE waste, particularly given the government's commitment to reducing plastic waste and pollution and banning single-use plastics.
What were the Liberals to do?
Well, they created an entire messaging plan, including a social media strategy and a plan to create blog posts and podcasts, as well as classroom information distributed to schools. It looks like this included messaging towards little kids, based on the materials, like colouring sheets encouraging the use of reusable masks.
A medium profile, proactive and sustained approach is recommended. Communication activities will focus on encouraging the public to use reusable cloth masks instead of single use to minimize environmental impact, and educating them about proper disposal of single use PPE if and when they are used.
Now, in none of the proposed talking points do they ever lay out that reusable PPE, like cloth masks, is actually protective against COVID-19.
Instead, the government calls reusable PPE cost-effective and environmentally friendly. Apparently, this is the most important thing to this government.
Look at this:
Recent studies suggest that cloth face masks need at least two to three layers of fabric in order to be protective, and the CDC recommends using two layers of quilting fabric or cotton sheets for homemade masks.
At the end of the day, whatever you believe about masks or no masks, the Liberals admit in these documents that disposable, medical grade PPE is the most effective.
But they didn't want you to use it, because for them the war on plastic was more important than the war on COVID.
Inventor of mRNA Vaccine: Some Covid Vaccines Make the Virus More Dangerous
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2021/07/inventor-mrna-vaccine-covid-vaccines-make-virus-dangerous/
Dr. Robert Malone, M.D., M.S.,, a distinguished physician who discovered RNA transfection and invented mRNA vaccines, was on Steve Bannonâs War Room Weednesday with some alarming newsânew data indicates that people who have taken the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are at greater risk of getting Covid than someone who is not vaccinated.
Before you watch the video, you need to understand the termâAntibody-Dependent Enhancement aka ADE:
Antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE), sometimes less precisely called immune enhancement or disease enhancement, is a phenomenon in which binding of a virus to suboptimal antibodies enhances its entry into host cells, followed by its replication.[1][2] ADE may cause enhanced respiratory disease and acute lung injury after respiratory virus infection (ERD) with symptoms of monocytic infiltration and an excess of eosinophils in respiratory tract.[3] ADE along with type 2 T helper cell-dependent mechanisms may contribute to a development of the vaccine associated disease enhancement (VADE), which is not limited to respiratory disease.
According NBC reporting (I canât believe Iâm citing that outfit as a reliable source):
New data suggests that fully vaccinated individuals are not just contracting COVID, but could be carrying higher levels of virus than previously understood, facilitating spread, my NBC News colleagues are reporting. New indoor masking guidance expected today.
Dr. Malone has warned of this risk for several months. What are we to do? Malone says that instead of relying on the flawed vaccines, Doctors should use drugs for treating Covid that have proved effective, such as Ivermectin (more about that following the video), is neutralizing Covid:
What should scare the hell out of you is the extraordinary efforts being taken to silence and discredit Dr. Malone. I encourage you to read Michael Haynes piece from July 5, which details Maloneâs Kafkaesque ordeal. Here are some relevant paragraphs from his article:
Information about the inventor of the mRNA technology used in certain COVID-19 vaccines was removed from the online encyclopedia site Wikipedia after he publicly warned against giving the experimental gene therapy vaccines to young people and that there was insufficient information about the injections to give informed consent. . . .
On June 10, 2021, Dr. Malone joined biologist Bret Weinstein, Ph.D, on the Dark Horse Podcast, where Malone raised numerous safety concerns about the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines, both of which use mRNA technology. He warned about future autoimmune issues caused by the spike proteins within the mRNA injections.
Malone also stated that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was aware that the spike proteins were âbiologically active and could travel from the injection site and cause adverse events, and that the spike protein, if biologically active, is very dangerous.â
YouTube swiftly moved to censor clips from the three-hour podcast interview.
This is the kind of authoritarian censorship carried out by Adolf Hitler, Josef Stalin and Pol Pot. When the media and the Government conspire to quash dissenting opinions and legitimate, provable facts, we have crossed the threshold of fascism.
The same effort to discredit Dr. Malone also has been unleashed against non-vaccine treatment methods. Remember what happened to anyone who dared suggest using Hydroxychloroquine or Ivermectin?
And do you remember the news stories in May about how Covid was devastating India? I bet you have heard little about the efficacy of Ivermectin in stopping Covid in Dehli.
Ivermectin obliterates 97 percent of Delhi cases
Dr. Pierre Kory told the world on December 8, 2020, that Ivermectin âobliteratesâ this virus. Obliterate means to decimate, demolish, or annihilate. It means to eliminate or destroy all trace, indication, or significance.
This graph shows that Ivermectin, used in Delhi beginning April 20, obliterated their COVID crisis. No one should be able to talk you out of this â not a salesman, a drug company, a television celebrity doc, and certainly not the top doctor for the WHO or the NIH who is paid to do that.
It is your duty as an American to challenge and question everything the Government represents as true. We now have concrete evidence that Dr. Anthony Fauci has taken diametrically opposed positions without blinking an eye. Some call that âlying.â The same with the CDC (as I pointed out in my last article). Perhaps the CDC should be renamed the Center for Disinformation & Confusion in light of the contradictory guidance issued regarding masks and vaccines.

Stephen Harper blasts woke culture in latest podcast appearance
https://tnc.news/2021/07/28/stephen-harper-blasts-woke-culture-in-latest-podcast-appearance/
Former Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harperâs latest podcast appearance was filled with hard truths for Canadians. Harper tackled questions on the woke left, pandemic response, fiscal policy, China and globalization during his American Optimist interview with Joe Lonsdale.
âWhatâs so threatening aboutâŚthe far woke left,â according to Harper, is that âits goal is authoritarianism.â
Harper connected the behaviour of the modern left to the totalitarianism at the root of Marx and Engels. Marxâs view was that his âopinions were not opinions, they were science⌠Therefore, since youâre arguing against facts, you get to the Soviet mentality that all dissent is essentially a mental illness or something that needs to be reeducated and corrected.â
This is a startling trend in todayâs COVID-era, as activists and politicians have dismissed serious concerns about government-mandated lockdowns and questionable public health orders. The Trudeau government has often dismissed its critics by accusing them of spreading âmisinformationâ and âconspiracy theories.â
Regarding Canadaâs COVID-19 response, Harper said, âthis is bad macroeconomic policy on an enormous scaleâ and that the government reaction has âbeen overkill.â Harper expressed concern over consumer inflation, asset inflation, bubbles and the inevitable interest rate hikes which will impact investment.
Sooner or later, he said, Canadians will come to realize that all of this supposed âaffordable government spending is not so affordable.â
Canadaâs federal debt surpassed $1 trillion dollars this year following a frenzy of pandemic spending by the ruling Liberal government. Further, in its latest budget, the government revealed a whopping deficit of $354 billion with no plan to pay down the debt and balance the books.
Harper is hardly the first to criticize the Liberal spending throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Economists from the Fraser Institute released a study in June 2020 saying that âstimulus spending will likely harm Canadian economyânot help it.â
Harper struck at the root of the issue, saying that âwhatâs happening right now⌠[is that these] bastardized Keynesian fiscal policy guys or modern monetary theorists [are] trying to convince the population that the fundamental principle of economic science is untrue.â
Harper goes on to discuss the problems of globalization: âAt the end of the cold war, all common sense on economic interaction related to national security went out the window, and we just assumed everybody ⌠is going to be a friend ⌠so we can trust them with anything. That has to change.â
One of the most criticized aspects of Canadaâs COVID-19 pandemic response has been the Liberal governmentâs trust in China. While multiple countries were developing vaccines, the Canadian government chose to only pre-order doses from CanSino Biologics. The government even sent the company a cash advance for vaccines that were never delivered to Canada.
According to Harper, we must ensure our supply chains do not depend on unreliable countries and that âwe have redundancy in terms of sources of supply.â
Despite his concerns, Harper believes that Canada has a âgreat future.â Still, Canadians must realize that âthe adolescent ego of the woke university crowd is not an alternative governing philosophy for any society.â

CDC: The coronavirus could be 'just a few mutations' away from evading vaccines
Natalie Musumeci,Aylin Woodward,Aria Bendix
Tue, July 27, 2021, 3:55 PM¡
The coronavirus is "just a few mutations potentially away" from evading current COVID-19 vaccines, the CDC said.
Coronavirus cases have been surging in the US, fueled by the highly transmissible Delta variant.
The more transmission, the more opportunity for the virus to replicate and gain dangerous mutations.
See more stories on Insider's business page.
The coronavirus could be just a few mutations away from evading existing COVID-19 vaccines, according to the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
"These vaccines operate really well in protecting us from severe disease and death, but the big concern is that the next variant that might emerge - just a few mutations potentially away - could potentially evade our vaccines," CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said in a Tuesday press briefing.
She added, though that "right now, fortunately we are not there," since current COVID-19 vaccines "operate really well in protecting us from severe disease and death."
Coronavirus cases, fueled by the highly transmissible Delta variant, have been surging in the US and across the globe - largely among those who are unvaccinated. In the last month, the US's seven-day average of new daily cases has quintupled: from 11,887 on June 26 to 56,635 on Monday.
The CDC announced Tuesday that people infected with Delta - vaccinated or unvaccinated - have higher viral loads (meaning they carry greater amounts of virus) compared to other versions of coronavirus. That means even vaccinated people could pass the virus along to others similarly to how unvaccinated people do.
More transmission means more mutations
All viruses change over time as they replicate inside an infected host. So countless versions of the coronavirus are circulating, each separated by a handful of tiny changes in its genetic code. Many of these have no real public-health impact, but the more people a virus infects, the more chances it has to mutate into a new, dangerous variant.

Lacey Lee Elliott: Global News host cancelled after vid on NOT trusting the media
https://www.rebelnews.com/lacey_lee_elliott_global_news_host_cancelled_not_trusting_the_media
This past Saturday, when covering the Worldwide Freedom Rally 3.0 in Vancouver, I came across a journalist named Lacey Lee Elliott, who told me she had been cancelled for raising concerns about ethical standards in media today.
With concerning censorship bills like Bill C-10, which is off the table for the summer, and dictatorship-worthy Bill C-36 still having the potential to become law in Canada, it can be hard to remember that in some situations, itâs not just the government to blame for the state of freedom of expression in Canada.
As youâll see in this full report, our increasingly persistent cancel culture, where citizens and certain businesses work hard to censor thoughts, can be almost as effective as a radically authoritarian law.
Lacey was best known for being a co-host on Driving Television, which aired on Global News for years. But after issuing a warning to the public on her YouTube channel about trusting the media, as well as discussing why mask exemptions should be honoured, Lacey seemed to find door after door slamming in her face when it came to finding work after her show.
But that hasnât stopped Lacey from continuing to publish content for the public, nor from speaking out on issues that she feels are important for the public to hear about.
Watch the full report to find out how, and why, Lacey was cancelled for speaking out.
Unlike state-sponsored media, we do not receive millions of dollars from the federal government to bring you the news. If you support the journalism we do, that includes not hiding the discussion of ethics in media, please support our work by donating what you can at RebelFieldReports.com.
Laboratory-confirmed influenza detections
In weeks 21 to 24, one laboratory detection of influenza was reported.
To date this season, 73 influenza detections have been reported (Figure 2), which is significantly lower than the past six seasons where an average of 51,942 influenza detections were reported for the season to date. All provinces and territories are closely monitoring indicators of influenza activity this season. Data in the FluWatch report represent surveillance data available at the time of writing, and may change as updates are received.
Thirty-one of the influenza detections reported to date this season are known to be associated with recent live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV) receipt and do not represent community circulation of seasonal influenza viruses. LAIV strains are attenuated but can be recovered by nasal swab in children and adults following vaccination with that product (i.e., "shedding"). For more information, please refer to the Canadian Immunization Guide Chapter on Influenza and Statement on Seasonal Influenza Vaccine for 2020â2021 (Section IV.2). Four of the influenza detections reported to date this season were sporadic detections of swine variant influenza A viruses: one influenza A(H1N1)v, two influenza A(H1N2)v and most recently in week 23, one influenza A(H3N2)v. These variant viruses differ from the influenza strains responsible for seasonal influenza epidemics. They are usually acquired through direct or indirect contact with swine and do not spread easily from person to person.
Overall, the percentage of laboratory tests positive for influenza remains at exceptionally low levels, despite the elevated levels of testing seen this month. In weeks 21 to 24, 23,798 tests for influenza were performed at reporting laboratories and the average percentage of tests positive was 0%. Compared to the past six seasons, the number of tests performed for this time period was higher than the average (11,182) and the percentage of tests positive for influenza remains well below average (4.4%) (Figure 3a and 3b).
Testing for influenza and other respiratory viruses has been influenced by the current COVID-19 pandemic. Changes in laboratory testing practices may affect the comparability of data to previous weeks or previous seasons.
For more detailed weekly and cumulative influenza data, see the text descriptions for Figure 2 or the Respiratory Virus Detections in Canada Report.

Canadian church faces $85,000 in fines for breaking COVID rules
https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/canadian-church-faces-85000-in-fines-for-breaking-covid-rules
A judge agreed Tuesday to allow the church to reopen so long as a COVID safety plan is posted inside the building.
WATERLOO, Ontario, July 29, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) â A Christian church in Canada, whose doors were locked by health officials for breaking COVID rules, is facing $85,000 in new fines, but a judge agreed Tuesday to allow them to open so long as they post a COVID safety âplanâ inside their building.
âThe other elders owe $7,500 each, and the church itself owes $35,000. The judge will review the Ministry of the Attorney Generalâs legal costs and then order us to pay legal costs at a later date. So in total we owe $85,000 plus legal costs,â wrote Pastor Jacob Reaume of Trinity Bible Chapel located in Waterloo, Ontario, in a July 27 note.
âKeep in mind that we owed $45,000 just for legal fees for the January 24 conviction. For contempt proceedings, itâs unlikely that we can appeal. So weâll have to pay up. When this is all added up, weâre gonna owe a lot of money. But Jesus is worth it,â wrote Reaume.
Trinity Bibleâs fines are the result of a contempt of court charge for holding an April 25 service contrary to local COVID rules.
Trinity Bible had its doors shut by Ontario Justice John Krawchenko on April 30 because it would not follow the local COVID rules in place at the time which banned in-person worship.
The churchâs legal representatives from the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) were in court Tuesday on behalf of the church.
LifeSiteNews corresponded with JCCF lawyer and interim President Lisa Bildy, who said that it will be very difficult for Trinity Bible to challenge the contempt of court fines.
The church had been fined thousands of dollars before for defying local COVID rules to hold indoor worship services.
Despite the fines, the same Kitchener judge who shut them down in April, Krawchenko, said they can gain access to the building if they supply a COVID health safety plan and place it in the church.
âThe respondents shall provide a copy of their safety plan, which is required by law to the applicant, prepared in accordance with this regulation, and provide proof of its posting at the church, at which point the applicant shall cause the locks to be changed to allow the reopening of the church,â said Krawchenko during court proceedings Tuesday.
On July 16, the Ontario Attorney General said it would not consent to the removal of the locks on the church unless the elders signed an undertaking to promise to follow all COVID rules.
Trinity Bible refused to sign the undertaking at the time, but according to Reaume, Krawchenko this past Tuesday did not ârequire an undertaking to regain entryâ to the church, and only said they had to post the COVID safety âplan.â
âSo thereâs a chance we could be in soon. But thereâs some things we need to iron out,â noted Reaume. âThe prosecution wanted us to sign an undertaking to abide by COVID protocols as prerequisite to getting our building back. We refused. In fact, while in court last week, we said through our counsel, âThe church is the Bride of Christ and we cannot hand her over to Premier Ford â no undertaking on that basis will be given.â That was recorded in the court file.â

âUnnecessary, misleading, catastrophicâ: Senior European physicians co-author expert statement on COVID vaccine for children
https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/unnecessary-misleading-catastrophic-senior-european-physicians-co-author-expert-statement-on-covid-vaccine-for-children
'The only possible conclusion from this analysis is that the use of this [COVID] vaccine in adolescents cannot be permitted, and that its ongoing use in any and all age groups ought to be stopped immediately.'
July 30, 2021 (Americaâs Frontline Doctors) â Eminent European physicians and scientists this month co-authored an expert statement regarding ComirnatyâCOVID-19 mRNA vaccine for children, outlining their expert opinions that âvaccination of adolescents for COVID-19 is unnecessary, claims demonstrating efficacy are misleading, and the safety profiles are catastrophic.â
It is authored by the former Chair of the Institute of Medical Microbiology and Hygiene, Johannes-Gutenberg University of Mainz Prof. emiretus Sucharit Bhakdi, M.D.; European registered toxicologist and immunologist and CEO of the TPI consult GmbH Prof. Dr. Stefan Hockertz; Facharzt fĂźr medizinische Mikrobiologie und Infektionsepidemiologie, Department of Chemistry, University of Waterloo Prof. Dr. Med. Michael Palmer; and Facharzt fĂźr innere Medizin-Lungen-und Bronchialkrankheiten, Facharzt fĂźr Hygiene und Umweltmedizin, Facharzt fĂźr Ăśffentliches Gesundheitswesen Ltd. Med. Dir. i.R. Dr. Wolfgang Wodarg.
The document seeks to answer three questions:
Is vaccination of adolescents against COVID-19 necessary?
Is the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine effective?
Is the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine safe?
Arguments presented in Section 1 of the study pertain to all COVID-19 vaccines, whereas those in Sections 2 and 3 apply specifically to the Pfizer vaccine.
Section 1 seeks to show that vaccinating adolescents for COVID-19 is unnecessary, because in this age group the disease is almost always mild and benign;
for the rare clinical cases that require it, treatment is readily available;
immunity to the disease is now widespread, due to prior infection with the virus (SARS-CoV-2) or with other coronavirus strains; and
asymptomatic adolescents will not transmit the disease to other individuals who might be at greater risk of infection.
Section 2 seeks to demonstrate that the claims of efficacy that Pfizer attaches to its vaccineânamely, 95% efficacy in adults, and 100% in adolescentsâare misleading, because these numbers pertain to relative, not absolute efficacy, the latter being on the order of only 1%;
specious, because they refer to an arbitrarily defined, clinically meaningless evaluation endpoint, whereas no efficacy at all has been demonstrated against severe disease or mortality;
most likely altogether fraudulent.
Section 3 seeks to show that the safety profile of the Pfizer vaccine is âcatastrophically badâ. It claims that
Pfizer, the EMA, and the FDA have systematically neglected evidence from preclinical animal trials that clearly pointed to grave dangers of adverse events;
the Pfizer vaccine has caused thousands of deaths within five months of its introduction;
The agencies that granted emergency use authorization for this vaccine committed grave errors and omissions in their assessments of known and possible health risks.

Dr. Stella Immanuel, Hydroxychloroquine Advocate, Sues CNN, Anderson Cooper for $100M
By Cammy Pedroja On 7/29/21 at 6:22 PM EDT
he Texas doctor who became famous in 2020 for promoting the use of Hydroxychloroquine [HQC], an anti-malarial drug, as "a cure" for COVID-19 has filed a defamation lawsuit against CNN and CNN anchor, Anderson Cooper in the amount of $100 million.
Dr. Stella Immanuel filed a federal lawsuit on Tuesday claiming that, "in an effort to vilify, demonize and embarrass President [Donald] Trump, Cooper and CNN published a series of statements of fact about Dr. Immanuel that injured her reputation and exposed her to public hatred, contempt, ridicule, and financial injury."
In the suit, Immanuel says Cooper and CNN "effectively caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands whose lives would have been spared if they had been treated early with HCQ."
In July 2020, then-President Trump tweeted a video of Immanuel speaking on the steps of the Supreme Court building, where she claimed "You don't need masks, there is a cureâŚYou don't need people to be locked down."
In the same filmed event, which Immanuel chronicles in the suit, she said, "All you fake doctors out there that tell me, 'Yeah. I want a double blinded study.' I just tell you, quit sounding like a computer, double blinded, double blinded. I don't know whether your chips are malfunctioning, but I'm a real doctorâŚwe have neurosurgeons, like Sanjay Gupta saying, 'Yeah, it doesn't work and it causes heart disease.' Let me ask you Dr. Sanjay Gupta. Hear me. Have you ever seen a COVID patient?"
A double-blind study is widely considered in the medical community as the gold standard in proving the efficacy of a treatment. It is one of the only ways to remove physician and patient bias from the testing process, as neither knows if the patient is receiving the real treatment or a placebo.
After the video started to gain traction on social media, Anderson Cooper and CNN began making statements to debunk Immanuel's claims. One CNN video said Dr. Immanuel was "spreading conspiracy theories on COVID-19" and promoted an "unproven drug, hydroxychloroquine."
Cooper went on the air saying "Trump promoted a doctor who believes that women can be physically impregnated by witches in their dreams" and who "has, among other things, claimed that sex with 'tormenting spirits' is responsible for gynecological problems, miscarriages and impotence." He pointed to YouTube videos where Immanuel made these claims.
Facebook eventually took down the video because it was "sharing false information about cures and treatments for COVID-19," according to Andy Stone, a spokesman for the platform.
Immanuel continues to claim HQC is "entirely effective" in the suit, and asks for $100 million for "compensatory damages and punitive damages," in addition to court costs and interest.
While the Federal Food and Drug Administration had issued an emergency use authorization for HQC in COVID-19 treatment for a short time, that approval was revoked in June 2020 when the drug was deemed "unlikely to be effective" and to be a potential cause of "serious cardiac adverse events and other potential serious side effects."
Newsweek reached out to CNN for comment.

Hereâs the truth America:
The âgame changerâ data the CDC used for the mask mandate is from a single study from India.
The study was rejected in peer review. But CDC used it anyway. Remember what I said about public health officials losing our trust?

Canadaâs govât. proposes âDigital Safety Commissionerâ to shut down websites deemed âharmfulâ
https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/canadas-govt-proposes-digital-safety-commissioner-to-shut-down-websites-deemed-harmful
The âDigital Safety Commissionerâ would be joined with a new âDigital Recourse Council of Canada,â as well as an âAdvisory Board.â
July 30, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) â Canadaâs Federal government released plans Thursday to create a âDigital Safety Commissionerâ who would have the power to shut down websites deemed a threat to âdemocracy,â and to promote content deemed âharmful.â
âCanadians expect their government to take action against serious forms of harmful content online. We need to create new rules for social media platforms and online services to address harmful online content and hold individuals accountable, while respecting the importance of freedom of expression in a free and democratic society,â said Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada David Lametti in a press release regarding the government launch of a âpublic consultation on a proposed approach for promoting a safe, inclusive and open online environment.â
According to the government, the âDigital Safety Commissionerâ would be tasked with overseeing and enforcing a new set of rules to regulate online media.
The new rules would be based on a new piece of legislation to be introduced âin the fall of 2021,â as well as on Bill-36, which was introduced in June, according to the discussion guide about the proposed changes.
The new legislation would apply to âonline communication service providersâ which the government defines as major social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, as well as Pornhub.
Both âfitness applications or travel review websitesâ would be excluded from the new rules, as would âprivate communications, nor telecommunications service providers or certain technical operators.â
However, the legislation would also allow the government to âinclude or exclude categories of online communication service providers from the application of the legislation within certain parameters.â
The new rules would also give the government the power to shut down websites within â24 hoursâ of being flagged for having allegedly âhatefulâ content.
âOnce platform users flag content, regulated entities would be required to respond to the flagged content by assessing whether it should be made inaccessible in Canada, according to the definitions outlined in legislation. If the content meets the legislated definitions, the regulated entity would be required to make the content inaccessible from their service in Canada within 24 hours of being flagged,â reads the discussion guide regarding the new proposed rules.
The âDigital Safety Commissionerâ would be joined with a new âDigital Recourse Council of Canada,â as well as an âAdvisory Board.â
The Recourse Council would âprovide people in Canada with independent recourse for the content moderation decisions of regulated entities like social media platforms,â says the government.
The âAdvisory Boardâ would be tasked with providing both the Commissioner and the Recourse Council with âexpert advice to inform their processes and decision-making, such as advice on emerging industry trends and technologies and content-moderation standards.â
According to the discussion guide on the new proposed rules, the government claims that a âgrowing body of evidence shows that these benefits also come with significant harms.â
âIndividuals and groups use social media platforms to spread hateful messaging. Indigenous Peoples and equity-deserving groups such as racialized individuals, religious minorities, LGBTQ2 individuals and women are disproportionately affected by hate, harassment, and violent rhetoric online,â reads the guide. Time to Move to Canada? Alberta Declares COVID-19 a Common Flu
If it werenât for the snow and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, I would emigrate to Alberta, Canada. Like Sweden, which displayed significant intestinal fortitude in defying the lockdown drumbeat throughout the pandemic, Alberta is using common sense. The province is satisfied with the vaccine uptake among its citizens, and COVID-19 is losing special status.
COVID-19 is officially losing its special status in Alberta, signalling an end to the pandemic in the province. The Chinese Virus will be treated just like the flu and other respiratory diseases in Alberta, according to the latest provincial guidance.
On Wednesday, Premier Jason Kenneyâs government took a bold step and announced that quarantines are no longer mandatory for anyone who tests positive for the virus beginning on July 29th.
According to the press release, provincial leaders are recognizing that viruses are going to virus:
Nearly 75.6 percent of eligible Albertans have now received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 64.3 percent are fully immunized. Vaccines dramatically reduce the risk of severe outcomes and the risk of infection. While COVID-19 cases may rise in the coming months, a surge of hospitalizations and other severe outcomes is much less likely thanks to vaccines.
In the coming weeks, Albertaâs health system will take steps to make sure that it is ready to support all patients, including those with COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses, like influenza, which health officials expect to increase this year.
Alberta measures severe illness and hospitalizations rather than positive tests. Quarantine will now move from mandatory to recommended if you receive a positive test. They will continue to test for severe cases and manage outbreaks in high-risk settings like nursing homes. However, this is typical of what the United States does for influenza.

Republicans demand answers about Wuhan lab gain-of-function research, why top scientist said COVID-19 looked engineered then called it 'crackpot theory' after speaking with Fauci
Republican lawmakers are demanding answers about potential gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Two House Republicans want to question a top scientist as to why he originally said the COVID-19 virus looked engineered, but then just days later he called the idea a "crackpot theory" after speaking with Dr. Anthony Fauci.
House Committee on Oversight and Reform ranking member Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) and House Committee on the Judiciary ranking member Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) are calling to speak to Fauci and Kristian Andersen, a virologist at the Scripps' Department of Immunology and Microbiology. The Congressmen want Fauci and Andersen "to brief the committees about gain-of-function research conducted at the Wuhan lab and the possibility COVID-19 was engineered to be more contagious."
In the news release from the Republican House members, they cite an email Andersen sent to Dr. Fauci on Jan. 31, 2020, which stated that COVID-19 appeared to be engineered. Andersen noted that he and three other scientists "all find the genome inconsistent with evolutionary theory" of the coronavirus origin.
However, Andersen did an about-face, saying the possibility that the coronavirus was engineered was a "crackpot theory" after speaking with Dr. Fauci on a conference call with other international virologists.
"In three days, with no explanation as to why, you flipped your perspective entirely and began calling a theory you lent credence to only days earlier a 'crackpot theory,'" wrote Jordan and Comer. "It would appear the primary intervening event was the February 1 conference call with Dr. Fauci. We are very interested in understanding what happened on that call or what science came to light that caused such a dramatic change in your own hypothesis as to the engineering of COVID-19."
According to a USA Today report, the Feb. 1 meeting "played a pivotal role in shaping the early views of several key scientists whose published papers and public statements contributed to the shutting down of legitimate discussion about whether a laboratory in Wuhan, China, might have ignited the COVID-19 pandemic."
In the letter from the Republican lawmakers to Andersen, they highlight that Fauci is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, which "has provided you with millions of dollars in taxpayer funded grants."
"The American public does not know what happened on this call, as all emails pertaining to the content of the discussion have been redacted," the letter reads. "But we do know what happened after."
The letter states, "On February 4, 2020, you sent an email to Dr. Peter Daszak, the Chief Executive Officer of EcoHealth Alliance, Inc.âanother organization that had received millions of dollars in taxpayer grants from Dr. Fauciâstating: 'The main crackpot theories going around at the moment relate to this virus being somehow engineered . . . and that is demonstrably not the case.'"
Andersen deleted his Twitter account in June, following scrutiny when unearthed emails surfaced that he warned Fauci that "some of the features" of the virus "(potentially) look engineered."
The GOP lawmakers also fired off a letter to Dr. Fauci, questioning President Joe Biden's chief medical advisor about gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab.
"Dr. Fauci has repeatedly told Congress, under oath, that NIAID has not funded dangerous gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab," the Republicans declared. "However, new emails show a closer relationship between NIAID and the Wuhan lab than previously known, including NIAID funding gain-of-function research without needed oversight and reviews."
The Republicans note that the Wuhan Institute of Virology is listed as a "Key Laboratory of Special Pathogens and Biosafety" in the paper, and that the work was funded by an NIAID grant.

TERRAZZANO: Canada has a divide and itâs between the government and taxpayers
https://tnc.news/2021/07/30/terrazzano-canada-has-a-divide-and-its-between-the-government-and-taxpayers/
COVID-19 has shone a light on a fundamental divide within Canada: the growing government bureaucracy and those forced to pay for it.
This contrast is illustrated by Statistics Canadaâs latest jobs report. The private sector, including those who are self-employed, has shed 520,400 jobs since COVID-19 hit us, while the number of government jobs across the country has increased by 180,000.
Of those new government jobs, 52,900 are public administration bureaucrats.
These new government positions spur on a higher tax burden for many families saddled with pay cuts and job losses and for businesses that were ordered to shut down.
Unfortunately, this isnât new. This bureaucrat surge follows years of increases.
âOttawaâs public service has swelled by roughly 10,000 bureaucrats per year under Trudeau, to roughly 380,000 today,â wrote Postmedia reporter Jesse Snyder in May.
We just endured months of government lockdowns, so letâs do a thought experiment.
What does a gym owner whoâs fighting to keep their business lights on need more: tax relief and red tape reductions, or more bureaucrat mouths to feed?
On top of the government job gains, Canadian taxpayers also have to pay for pay raises for politicians and thousands of bureaucrats during the pandemic.
Members of Parliament pocketed not one, but two pay raises during COVID-19. The pay hikes range from $6,900 for a backbench MP to $13,800 for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Before these pay raises, Trudeau and his ministers were already within the top one per cent of Canadian income earners.
This is in stark contrast to politicians in New Zealand who quickly stood in solidarity with taxpayers.
âWe acknowledge New Zealanders who are reliant on wage subsidies, taking pay cuts and losing their jobs as a result of the COVID-19 global pandemic,â said New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. âI can confirm that myself and government ministers and public service chief executives will take a 20 per cent pay cut for the next six months.â
Back home in Canada, government bureaucrats gobbled-up pay raises alongside of politicians.
Documents obtained by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation show more than 18,000 provincial government bureaucrats and post-secondary employees received a raise during lockdowns last year in Alberta.
Same goes at city hall.
Nearly 14,000 employees at the city of Calgary and more than 34,000 employees at the city of Toronto received a raise last year. How many other cities and provinces handed-out pay raises while taxpayers struggled through lockdowns?
Itâs a similar story at the federal level, where the feds agreed to hike the pay for thousands of its employees.
Itâs tough to track down any government bureaucrat that took a pay cut during the lockdowns. In fact, the federal government has no records of its employees ever receiving a pay cut, according to research from the think tank Secondstreet.org.
Fortunately, there are some politicians, such as Albertaâs Jason Kenney, who are trying to make the government payroll fairer to the taxpayers who pay for it.
Premier Kenney is proposing a three or four per cent wage reduction for employees. By comparison, any private sector worker lucky enough to take that hair cut over the last five-plus years in Alberta was one of the fortunate ones.
However, instead of being willing to help shoulder the burden of the downturn, government union bosses are lighting their collective manes on fire.
A university union boss called the proposed haircut ânothing short of disgusting.â During the pandemic, a group of union bosses even threatened general strikes.
Soon, Canadians will have to grapple with an important question: how are we going to pay back the mountain of government debt? The answer canât be to make the private sector bear the entire burden.
We need politicians and bureaucrats to share in the difficult times and take a cut.

German newspaper APOLOGIZES for pushing COVID lockdown hysteria and harming society
https://www.naturalnews.com/2021-07-30-german-newspaper-apologizes-covid-lockdown-hysteria-society.html

(Natural News) For its contributions in spreading Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) lies that led to mass lockdowns, mask mandates, and psychological and physical torture by power-hungry government officials, the German news outlet Bild has issued a formal apology.
The paper put up a video â you can watch it below â specifically addressing the youth of Germany, who have arguably suffered the most from all the tyranny. Bild says it made a mistake by supporting Chinese Virus authoritarianism, which has completely destroyed society.
âTo the millions of children in this country for whom our society is responsible, I want to express here what neither our government nor our Chancellor dares to tell you: we ask you to forgive us,â the paper now says.
âForgive us for this policy which, for a year and a half, has made you victims of violence, neglect, isolation, and loneliness.â
Bild went on to express regret for ever covering any of the governmentâs fake news about the Fauci Flu, which the paper says was âlike poison,â making people feel like they âwere a mortal danger to society.â
âYou are not a danger to society,â Bild now says. âDonât believe this lie. Itâs up to us to protect you. What happened to our children, many people and Bild denounced it.â
âNothing happened. Merkel organized a summit for children? No! Instead, we persuaded our children that they were going to murder their grandma if they dared to be what they are: children. Or if they met their friends. None of this has been scientifically proven.â
The medical fascists took advantage of innocent children, using them as pawns to push more tyranny
Since children are unable to fight back and oftentimes do not even know they are being lied to by adults or authority figures they have been taught to trust, many were forced into masks or told they needed to get injected with a Trump Vaccine in order to avoid spreading illness.
This destroyed countless childrenâs mental health, and many are now traumatized, possibly for life, because of Fauciâs lies.
âIt was easy to force that on the children,â Bild says. âThey canât defend themselves and they donât vote. When a state steals the rights of a child, it must prove that by doing so it protects him against concrete and imminent danger. This proof has never been provided.â
Just about everything that was spread like wildfire over the past year concerning the Wuhan Flu was government-schemed propaganda. And to this day, that propaganda continues to be spread, demonstrating itself to be the true virus.
âIt has been replaced by propaganda presenting the child as a vector of the pandemic,â says Bild about the governmentâs lies, which come in the name of âscience.â
âThose who wanted to contradict this propaganda were never invited to the expert table. Our policies would do better to open schools and sports halls rather than polling stations, otherwise they will have on their conscience, and will leave in the history books, a multitude of innocent souls.â
These are powerful statements from Bild, and we commend the paper for having the bravery to speak out. You are unlikely to find any similar humility from any American fake news outlets, which have chosen to double down in spreading their plandemic lies.
The latest media schtick, in fact, involves blaming the âunvaccinatedâ for the sudden âsurgeâ in new cases of the so-called âdelta variant,â which the Biden regime says will kill everyone unless there is full compliance with getting a Trump Vaccine.

Twitter Suspends Science Writer After He Posts Results Of Pfizer Clinical Test
Just yesterday, we discussed the censoring of a commentator by Twitter for merely expressing an opinion over the need for a âpauseâ on any federal mandates on Covid-19 as new research is studied.
Now, a former New York Times science reporter, Alex Berenson, has been suspended for simply quoting the results from a clinical trial by Pfizer and raising questions over any vaccine mandate. In the meantime, the White House accused both the Washington Post and New York Times of irresponsible reporting on Covid, but surprisingly Twitter has not suspended those accounts. It is the license of the censor. Twitter is unwilling to let people read or discuss viewpoints that it disagrees with as a corporation. Many on the left, however, have embraced the concept of corporate speech and censorship. It turns out that the problem with censorship for many was the failure to censor views that they opposed. With the ârightâ censors at work, the free speech concerns have been set aside.
I have little ability to judge the science on such questions. However, I welcome the debate. Yet, rather than answer such critics and refute their arguments, many people focus on silencing anyone with dissenting viewpoints like Berenson.
Berenson has been effectively confined to Substack by Big Tech due to his discussing dissenting views on the science surrounding Covid-19. His latest offense against Big Tech came when he posted the results published by Pfizer of its own clinical data. He claimed that the research showed little difference in morality between those in the trial with a vaccine and those given a placebo.
In the meantime, the White House sent out an all caps condemnation for âcompletely irresponsibleâ reporting on the infliction of vaccinated people according to another study.
Ben Wakana, deputy director of strategic communications and engagement for the White House, blasted the Washington Post over its headline about a study of a COVID-19 outbreak in Provincetown, Massachusetts on July 4th. The Post tweet read âVaccinated people made up three-quarters of those infected in a massive Massachusetts covid-19 outbreak, pivotal CDC study finds.â Wakana responded âCompletely irresponsible,. 3 days ago the CDC made clear that vaccinated individuals represent a VERY SMALL amount of transmission occurring around the country. Virtually all hospitalizations and deaths continue to be among the unvaccinated. Unreal to not put that in context.â
Wakana addressed the same issue with a New York Times tweet stating âBreaking News: The Delta variant is as contagious as chickenpox and may be spread by vaccinated people as easily as the unvaccinated, an internal C.D.C. report said.â That sent Wakana into all caps: âVACCINATED PEOPLE DO NOT TRANSMIT THE VIRUS AT THE SAME RATE AS UNVACCINATED PEOPLE AND IF YOU FAIL TO INCLUDE THAT CONTEXT YOUâRE DOING IT WRONG.â

Newly appointed âindependentâ senator made multiple donations to the Liberals
https://tnc.news/2021/07/31/newly-appointed-independent-senator-made-multiple-donations-to-the-liberals/
One of the âindependentâ senators recently appointed by the Trudeau government made multiple donations to the Liberal Party of Canada.
On Thursday, the government announced the appointment of five members into the Red Chamber. Amina Gerba was hand-picked by the prime minister to represent Quebec, alongside Michèle Audette, ClÊment Gignac, David Arnot and Karen Sorensen.
Gerba, described as an âambassador for Afro-optimismâ in her Government of Canada website biography, donated $500 to the Liberal Party in 2019, $454.80 to the AhuntsicâCartierville Federal Liberal Association in 2019 and $250 to cabinet minister MĂŠlanie Jolyâs nomination campaign in 2015, according to Elections Canada records. Gerba also made donations to the New Democrats in 2015.
Gerba made some of the political donations using her full name â Amina NleungâAbah Gerba.
The Independent Advisory Board for Senate Appointments (IABSA) claims new Senate appointments are ârecommended by the IABSA, and chosen using the merit-based process open to all Canadians.â
This process is supposed to âensure Senators are independent, reflect Canadaâs diversity, and are able to tackle the broad range of challenges and opportunities facing the country.â
However, the government made no mention of Gerbaâs support of the Liberal Party at the time of her appointment.
Many opposition politicians criticized Trudeau when he first founded the IABSA in 2016. The board was supposed to avoid the partisanship associated with Senate appointments, but many argued that it merely offers Trudeau more discretion on who gets selected.
In 2017, independents voted with the government 94.5% of the time.
True North reached out to Senator Amina to inquire about her connections to the Liberals but did not hear back in time for publication of this article.
This isnât the first time an âindependentâ senator was found to have ties to the Liberal Party. In June, Trudeau appointed Bernadette Clemen â a former two-time Liberal candidate.
Both in 2011 and in 2015, Clement ran as a candidate for the Liberal Party of Canada in Ontario and lost both times to former Conservative MP Guy Lauzon.
Earlier this week, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney called out the Prime Minister for his recent Senate appointment in Alberta, claiming Trudeau showed âcontempt for democracyâ by appointing a Banff mayor Karen Sorenson to represent the province ahead of the senate elections.
âThe Prime Minister knows full well that Alberta will be holding elections for Senate nominees in October of this year. I personally informed him of our forthcoming Senate elections at our July 7, 2021 meeting in Calgary,â Kenney said in a statement.
â[I] told him that the Alberta Legislature had adopted a motion calling on the Prime Minister not to fill the two current senate vacancies, but to wait for Albertans to choose their own preferred Senate candidates.â

American Couple Fined $50,000 For Traveling To Canada With Fake Vaccination Documents
https://www.zerohedge.com/covid-19/american-couple-fined-50000-traveling-canada-fake-vaccination-documents?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+zerohedge%2Ffeed+%28zero+hedge+-+on+a+long+enough+timeline%2C+the+survival+rate+for+everyone+drops+to+zero%29
Canada has for more than the past year become known as having arguably the most stringent and far-reaching travel screening and lockdown/quarantine polices of any country. For example the US-Canada border is still closed, but is set to open August 9th - only for the fully vaccinated.
Throughout what's essentially been more or less a 'permanent' state of lockdown since the start of the pandemic, even Canadians re-entering the country from outside have had to quarantine for at least two weeks if they can't show proof of vaccination. This policy has been in effect in other countries as well, especially in Europe, which has perhaps made it inevitable that foreign travelers have sought to find ways around the restrictions. Authorities have worried about fake vaccination certificates popping up globally as the concept of 'COVID passports' has remained under discussion and is already fast becoming a reality at least in practice.
Via CTV News
One particular recent instance being reported this week included a pair of American travelers busted by the Canadian government for what were described as fake COVID-19 vaccination documents, apparently in their bid to avoid quarantine measures and successfully enter the country.
They were reportedly fined 20,000 Canadian dollars each - or about $25,000 USD - after getting caught with the fakes. In total the pair will pay a whopping $50,000 fine.
"The unnamed travelers arrived from the U.S. in Canada the week of July 18. Officials from the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) fined each traveler four times for a total of 19,720 CAD per traveler" Fox details.
Official protocol required that they also show a negative COVID test before boarding the inbound plane, after which travelers are required to be confined in a government-approved hotel for three days at the end of which they have to test negative again. All of this is at the traveler's expense of course.
In this latest falsified documents case, the American pair even had fake negative tests:
The fake documents consisted of proof of vaccinations and pre-departure tests; officials also cited the pair for "non-compliance" with government requirements for accommodation and on-arrival testing, according to a PHAC press release.
Via City News/The Canadian Press
The press release further laid out the maximum possible penalty for traveling with fake COVID documents or lying to enforcement officers as follows:
Violating any quarantine or isolation instructions provided to travellers by a screening officer or quarantine officer when entering Canada is also an offence under the Quarantine Act and could lead to a $5,000 fine for each day of non-compliance or for each offence committed, or more serious penalties, including six months in prison and/or $750,000 in fines.
But likely this is only the beginning - as what are tantamount to 'vaccine passports' becomes the de facto new normal across various parts of the globe, there's little doubt that an entire sophisticated counterfeit documents industry will arise - if it hasn't already.

The Road To Totalitarianism
People can tell themselves that they didnât see where things have been heading for the last 17 months, but they did.
They saw all the signs along the way. The signs were all written in big, bold letters, some of them in scary-looking Germanic script. They read âŚ
âTHIS IS THE ROAD TO TOTALITARIANISM.â
Iâm not going to show you all those signs out again. People like me have been pointing them out, and reading them out loud, for 17 months now. Anyone who knows anything about the history of totalitarianism, how it incrementally transforms society into a monstrous mirror image of itself, has known since the beginning what the âNew Normalâ is, and we have been shouting from the rooftops about it.
We have watched as the New Normal transformed our societies into paranoid, pathologized, authoritarian dystopias where people now have to show their âpapersâ to see a movie or get a cup of coffee and publicly display their ideological conformity to enter a supermarket and buy their groceries.
We have watched as the New Normal transformed the majority of the masses into hate-drunk, hysterical mobs that are openly persecuting âthe Unvaccinated,â the official âUntermenschenâ of the New Normal ideology.
We have watched as the New Normal has done precisely what every totalitarian movement in history has done before it, right by the numbers. We pointed all this out, each step of the way. Iâm not going to reiterate all that again.
I am, however, going to document where we are at the moment, and how we got here ⌠for the record, so that the people who will tell you later that they âhad no clue where the trains were goingâ will understand why we no longer trust them, and why we regard them as cowards and collaborators, or worse.
Yes, thatâs harsh, but this is not a game. It isnât a difference of opinion. The global-capitalist ruling establishment is implementing a new, more openly totalitarian structure of society and method of rule. They are revoking our constitutional and human rights, transferring power out of sovereign governments and democratic institutions into unaccountable global entities that have no allegiance to any nation or its people.
That is what is happening ⌠right now. It isnât a TV show. Itâs actually happening.
The time for people to âwake upâ is over. At this point, you either join the fight to preserve what is left of those rights, and that sovereignty, or you surrender to the âNew Normal,â to global-capitalist totalitarianism. I couldnât care less what you believe about the virus, or its mutant variants, or the experimental âvaccines.â This isnât an abstract argument over âthe science.â It is a fight ⌠a political, ideological fight. On one side is democracy, on the other is totalitarianism. Pick a fucking side, and live with it.
Anyway, hereâs where we are at the moment, and how we got here, just the broad strokes.
Itâs August 2021, and Germany has officially banned demonstrations against the âNew Normalâ official ideology. Other public assemblies, like the Christopher Street Day demo (pictured below), one week ago, are still allowed. The outlawing of political opposition is a classic hallmark of totalitarian systems. Itâs also a classic move by the German authorities, which will give them the pretext they need to unleash the New Normal goon squads on the demonstrators tomorrow.
In Australia, the military has been deployed to enforce total compliance with government decrees ⌠lockdowns, mandatory public obedience rituals, etc. In other words, it is de facto martial law. This is another classic hallmark of totalitarian systems.
In France, restaurant and other business owners who serve âthe Unvaccinatedâ will now be imprisoned, as will, of course, âthe Unvaccinated.â The scapegoating, demonizing, and segregating of âthe Unvaccinatedâ is happening in countries all over the world. France is just an extreme example. The scapegoating, dehumanizing, and segregating of minorities â particularly the regimeâs political opponents â is another classic hallmark of totalitarian systems.
In the UK, Italy, Greece, and numerous other countries throughout the world, this pseudo-medical social-segregation system is also being introduced, in order to divide societies into âgood peopleâ (i.e., compliant) and âbadâ (i.e., non-compliant).
The âgood peopleâ are being given license and encouraged by the authorities and the corporate media to unleash their rage on the âthe Unvaccinated,â to demand our segregation in internment camps, to openly threaten to viciously murder us.
This is also a hallmark of totalitarian systems.
And that, my friends, is where we are.
We didnât get here overnight. Here are just a few of the unmistakable signs along the road to totalitarianism that I have pointed out over the last 17 months.

Stop listening to the lockdown authoritarians and live your life again
https://tnc.news/2021/08/02/stop-listening-to-the-lockdown-authoritarians-and-live-your-life-again/
Canada finally has a province willing to stand against the madness of endless lockdowns, media fear-mongering, and irrational paranoia when it comes to COVID-19.
Alberta announced earlier this week that it is lifting many of its remaining COVID restrictions â including forced quarantine and mask mandates.
Albertaâs Chief Medical Officer Dr. Deena Hinshaw announced the provinceâs new approach to the virus earlier this week, noting that Alberta is dropping forced quarantine requirements for those who had close contact with a COVID patient, and later this summer will drop all quarantine mandates and many mask requirements.
In other words, theyâll be treating COVID much like any other airborne illness.
When youâre sick with the flu, you stay home â not because of some government edict but simply out of caution, respect for others and common sense. The government does not legally require quarantine for people with other illnesses, no matter how severe the symptoms are or how contagious it may be.
And while most Albertans let out a sigh of relief, these measures were quickly condemned and demonized by the usual suspects in the authoritarian left-wing lockdown crowd.
âWho does this to their own public?â read one CTV headline, in a story featuring an angry ER doctor (wearing scrubs in his own living room, for some reason) who apparently wants Canada to stay locked down forever.
While many journalists expressed anger at Albertaâs leadership for daring to open, some journalists directed that contempt at the people of Alberta.
âThe first thing you need to know is that Alberta was initially largely settled by Americans, that they are godâs chosen people, and that itâs their hard work and ingenuity that put the oil in the ground, and itâs their hard work and ingenuity that pulls it out again,â said Dale Smith, an Ottawa-based freelance reporter who is a member of the Parliamentary Press Gallery.
âWith this in mind, they are more concerned about individual âfreedomsâ than the collective good,â said Smith, who is originally from Calgary but apparently had so much disdain for his compatriots he left.
âIt is inconceivable to me. It is the height of insanity,â added Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi of Dr. Hinshawâs decision to no longer mandate quarantine.
Itâs remarkable how quickly the tables have turned.
Iâm old enough to remember three months ago when left-wing voices were hectoring the anti-lockdown crowd for daring to criticize the all-knowing public health officials. But now that public health officials are beginning to change their tune, the authoritarian lockdown crowd â including Nenshi and Smith â have given themselves permission to condemn these experts to their heartâs content.
It must be nice to believe you have the moral high ground no matter what side of the issue you take.
The global COVID pandemic and ensuing lockdowns gave these busybodies a taste of unlimited power and control, and they liked it a little bit too much to simply let it go.
Ironically, by demanding more restrictions â even for vaccinated Canadians â these left-wing doctors, journalists and politicians are undermining the case to get vaccinated.
The reality is that, according to data from the Public Health Agency of Canada, the COVID case mortality rate for patients with one dose is 0.0027% and 0.0018% for those who are double vaxxed. Thatâs about on par with the seasonal flu.
Compound the very low risk for the vaccinated with new information about the drastic impact of lockdowns on mental health and well-being and it makes Albertaâs new approach seem like a slam dunk.
A recent Statscan report showed that more than four times as many working-aged Canadians died from the lockdowns than from the virus.
Between January 2020 to April 2021, 5,535 Canadians under the age of 65 died because of âindirect consequencesâ due to the pandemic, while 1,380 Canadians in the same age group died from the virus during that same time period.
The lockdowns were deadlier than the virus for most Canadians. Itâs time to stop listening to the left-wing lockdown authoritarians and start living our lives again.

Great Reset: World Economic Forum Declares the âAge of Human Robots is Overâ
https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2021/08/03/world-economic-forum-declares-the-age-of-human-robots-is-over/
The globalist World Economic Forum has released a video in which three âfuturistsâ predict what human life will look like after the so-called Great Reset, foretelling that technology will replace the âage of human robotsâ.'
Take a walk into the future,â the World Economic Forum (WEF) implored users on social media on Monday, as they presented the Great Reset technological wonders which will free humanity from manual labour in favour of work which requires âunderstanding what it means to be human.â
Stuart Russell of the University of California, Berkeley said in the video: âWeâre getting past the last 10,000 years where weâve used humans, by and large, engaging only a tiny fraction of human abilities and forcing people into repetitive, tedious dead-end work for the most part.â
âSo the age of human robots is over and we have to figure out a new age. That means dramatic changes to the structure of our economy and society,â he declared.
In extended remarks from the Global Technology Governance Summit, Professor Russell said that people shouldnât be afraid of automation taking their jobs for the time being, saying: âThe kind of AI that people are worried about taking all the jobs doesnât exist yet.â
Professor Amy Webb of New York Universityâs Stern School of Business predicted the increased use of editing genomes in order to âwrite a new code for lifeâ and âredesign organisms for beneficial purposesâ.
The professor said that this process has already begun with some of the coronavirus vaccines, which she noted: âmake use of an engineered code in the form of messenger RNAâ.
Webb went on to predict the use of âdiminished reality glassesâ which would enable the wearer remove unwanted things from their view, such as âgarbage or other peopleâ.
Mike Bechtel, Chief Futurist of the London-based Deloitte, said that âambientâ technology will always listen to your commands rather than needing to address specific smart speakers.
He likened the immersive tech experience to a âdigital Downton Abbeyâ in which the âright agentâ comes to aid you in each scenario.
Responding to the video, anti-woke campaigner Dr James Lindsay wrote: âThese freaks are excited about this stuff.â
âThe genteel quasi-Marxist elitist dorks with soft hands, who want to reshape our world according to their vision, which is already failing, donât understand that doing honest work and feeling proud of it is a huge part of âunderstanding what it means to be humanâ,â Lindsay said.
In June of last year, the founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, Klaus Schwab, famously declared that the Chinese coronavirus was an opportunity for global governments to introduce a âGreat Reset of capitalismâ.
The globalist German engineer argued that the âworld must act jointly and swiftly to revamp all aspects of our societies and economies.â
The call for a ânew ageâ has been longstanding from the Davos-based group, with a 2016 video predicting a âhappyâ future in which individuals no longer owned property.
âWelcome to the year 2030. Welcome to my city â or should I say, âour cityâ. I donât own anything. I donât own a car. I donât own a house. I donât own any appliances or any clothes,â the WEF projected.
The World Economic Forum recently came under criticism for hailing the benefit of âquieterâ cities as a result of the coronavirus lockdowns which they said have been âimproving cities around the worldâ.

Toronto Blue Jays the most recent example of elites being granted special status
https://www.rebelnews.com/toronto_blue_jays_the_most_recent_example_of_elites_being_granted_special_status
Last Friday, the Toronto Blue Jays played their unofficial home opener, in that they actually got to play a home game in Hogtown as opposed to Florida or Buffalo.
As the teamâs website triumphantly notes: âAfter nearly two years away, the Toronto Blue Jays are finally coming home to Canada beginning July 30. The club was granted a National Interest Exemption by the federal government that will allow Major League Baseball games to be played at Rogers Centre, with robust health and safety protocols in place.â
Who knew that Americaâs favourite pastime was so important in Canada that it would qualify for a ânational interest exemptionâ?
And, say, what is a ânational interest exemptionâ in the first place?
Well, according to the federal government, such an order exempts âa foreign national whose presence in Canada, in the opinion of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship or the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, is in the national interest. National interest considerations used to overcome the travel restrictions pertain to why the person should exceptionally and immediately be allowed to board a flight bound for Canada or enter Canada. For example, business visitors travelling to contribute to Canadaâs critical infrastructure may be considered to be in the national interest.â
And, um, professional baseball playersâŚ
So, in other words, money talks and B.S. walks.
If you are a multimillionaire baseball player playing ball for a multi-billion dollar conglomerate such as Rogers Communications Inc., those COVID quarantine hotel rules do not apply. But if youâre just a regular tax-paying citizen who has the temerity to cross the border, make sure you pony up some big bucks in order to stay at the local Motel Hell upon landing back in Canada.
Then again, as Karl Malden used to say in those old American Express commercials: âMembership has its privileges.â And if you are an elite pro athlete, you are amongst the most privileged on the planet. Which reminds us of another chestnut, this one from George Orwellâs Animal Farm: 'All animals are created equal but some animals (for example, Blue Jays) are more equal than others.'

Trudeau insults Albertans by ignoring senator voting tradition, appoints his own Liberal senator
Another day, another Laurentian elite slap in the face to Albertans. The disrespect never ends.
Yesterday, Trudeau announced he was appointing a new senator. If you live in a different province, that might seem like a routine thing â having some leader in Ottawa choose who will represent you in the Senate with a gravy, high-paying patronage appointment, a thank you for being a loyal Liberal for basically the rest of their lives. But not here in Alberta.
Here, we choose our own senators. We have for decades. When we hold municipal elections, we elect our senators at the same time, based on the accepted convention and expectation that the prime minister will appoint who we chose for ourselves.
People put forward their names and usually run under a party banner. But Trudeau knows Albertans would never choose a Liberal senator, after all the Liberals have done to us â blocked pipelines, phased out our jobs, carbon taxed the industry they didnât kill, caused trade wars that hurt our farmers and grabbed our guns. So yesterday, Trudeau disregarded the will of the entire Alberta electorate. And appointed his own senator, even as we head to the polls to make our own choice in October.
Trudeau appointed the mayor of Banff, Karen Sorenson. And she was happy to take the $161,000 annual salary for the rest of her working life, plus top ups. She was fine to just steal that job from the person Albertans were going to choose, without an ounce of shame. Who does that? Except a Liberal in Alberta, I guess.
If Sorenson thought Albertans wanted her as a senator, why didnât she just put her name forward? She didnât, because she knew sheâd lose. Easier to just steal the job I guess. How unethical. Oh, and we are all to believe she is an âindependent senator.â Look how independent she is in this photo with another quota appointment, disastrous infrastructure minister Catherine McKenna, most recently famous for losing track of 9,000 infrastructure projects.
And here she is gushing over getting a selfie with the sock model in the PMO.
Naturally, Premier Jason Kenney was outraged, issuing a statement that said, âthe prime minister's decision to snub his nose at Alberta's democratic tradition is part of a pattern of flippantly disregarding our provinceâs demands for fair deal in the Canadian federation and the desire of Albertans for democratic accountability.â
We should not have been surprised by this, though. In 2018, Trudeau also appointed another so-called independent senator, former Edmonton Sun columnist Paula Simons, to the senate, overlooking the last one we Albertans elected, a man named Mike Shaikh. And just like Sorenson, Simons happily stole the job from the man we chose to do it, even after she had railed against the unaccountable unelected in the past. I guess she realized being a print journalist is a dead end sunset industry job. She spent the pandemic bragging about her ability to be a shut-in, and not leave the house. These people are so gross. Not even an apology to Shaikh after she stole his job and our votes.
And for being so-called independent, Simons sure likes to support the Liberal government against the will of Albertans, like with her support of pipeline killer C-69.
And this carries on the long standing Liberal tradition of disrespecting our choices. Jean ChrĂŠtien appointed Tommy Banks to the Senate instead of Bert Brown, the Reform candidate chosen by Albertans in 1998.
I donât want to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but if Trudeau were a plant put there by western separatists, would he be doing anything differently?

Toronto souvenir shop now shuttered due to City Hall bureaucrat's alleged vendetta
After almost two decades in business, The Souvenir Market situated inside Torontoâs St. Lawrence Market is no more. Last Saturday was the last day for the little souvenir shop. Owner Jenny Huang survived everything from a recession to COVID-19 lockdowns to a dearth of tourists, thanks to a closed border. But she could not survive a bureaucrat with a chip on his shoulder.
As we reported last month, Jenny alleges she was targeted for eviction because she had the utter temerity to complain about a busker with addiction issues. This busker would perform outside her shop, and Jenny says his erratic behaviour scared away customers from her store.
Alas, she shouldâve kept quiet. Thatâs because Jenny alleges that one of the marketâs real estate managers, Daniel Picheca, took a dim view of her complaining. Apparently, a shopkeeper should be grateful to do business under any conditions in the city-owned St. Lawrence Market. And so it is that this individual allegedly carried out an inexplicable vendetta against her. (We reached out to Mr. Picheca, but he declined to comment, directing all our queries to City of Toronto spokesman Brad Ross.)
Last month, Mr. Ross had this to say: â[The St. Lawrence Market] is a City asset that must maximize revenues from its vendors. We have a responsibility to Toronto taxpayers to manage the Market and the leases responsibly. In short, this means business decisions are sometimes made that are not going to please everyone. We are very sympathetic to Ms. Huang and her desire to continue as a merchant at the Market, but the issue here is a combination of an over-representation of the souvenir category, the need for tenants to operate during set market hours as required by the lease agreement, and the City's right and obligation to make decisions that are best for the Market and all of its vendors to ensure the Market's continued success.â
Mr. Ross avoided all mention of Mr. Pichecaâs role in Jennyâs eviction. As well, if the people running the St. Lawrence Market feel that there are too many souvenir shops, why pick on Jenny? Her shop was the very first souvenir store to open in the St. Lawrence Market some 18 years ago â why is she the first to go?
Such is the injustice that Toronto criminal defence lawyer Calvin Barry took on Jennyâs case pro bono, but even he could not slay City Hall.
And yet, it makes no sense: how is it that a busker with issues who doesnât pay a penny in rent trumps an entrepreneur who never defaulted on her lease agreements? Itâs gross. It is unjust. Where are you on this file, Mayor John Tory?

Alberta treating COVID like seasonal flu has TV doctors worried
https://www.rebelnews.com/alberta_treating_covid_like_seasonal_flu_has_tv_doctors_worried
Alberta has made the bold decision to begin treating COVID-19 like other endemic health concerns, much like the seasonal flu. This choice has drawn sharp criticism from critics of Premier Jason Kenney, like his main political rival, Alberta NDP leader Rachel Notley who felt this shift in policy was âjust too soonâ and from Calgary's mayor, Naheed Nenshi, who described the decision as âcompletely inexplicable.â
On last night's episode of The Ezra Levant Show, Ezra shared his thoughts on Alberta's shift in COVID-19 policy.
Speaking about how the era of needless fearmongering over the virus was coming to an end in the province, Ezra said:
Yeah, COVID fear-porn is over, TV doctors hardest hit, I guess. Now, I support these doctors having their freedom of speech and giving their political advice. I would invite them to run for office as part of a lockdown party â maybe that's just another way of saying the NDP.
But if they want to be doctors â be doctors, give advice to their patients. I'm not their patient. They're not doctors to the whole province. If they want to be legislators, run for office. I encourage it, I really do. Let's finally put these lockdown ideas to a public test.0

âOur doors will always be openâ: Fairview Baptist Church sees growth after pastor jailed
Pastor Tim Stephens was arrested, sent to jail and released after Alberta Health Services failed to provide him adequate notice that an order banning gatherings applied to him and his congregation. He was then re-arrested mere days later (for an outdoor gathering of all things) only to be jailed again for two weeks. His place of worship, Fairview Baptist Church, was also seized by Alberta Health Services. All for the grave sin of continuing to gather for worship despite COVID restrictions over the past 16 months.
Pastor Tim could have been released from jail earlier, had he been willing to compromise his capacity as shepherd to his church. But he was not, and so he refused to sign the bail conditions presented to him on principle. With COVID restrictions in Alberta being removed, the Justice Rooke order under which Pastor Tim was being held was rescinded and he was released. He is free for the time being, but make no mistake â Alberta Health Services is continuing their zealous legal pursuit of pastors who dared to question their directives, and serious legal battles lay ahead for Pastor Tim.
His church building was also returned, but the congregation now has a new problem to deal with. Pastor Timâs uncompromising witness to the primacy of Christ is drawing in many new worshippers. His growing flock will no longer fit inside their returned church building. They have been gathering instead, in increasing numbers, at Shepard Community Hall to accommodate all the newcomers.
We spoke with Pastor Tim Stephens about his growing community of faith and the legal battles ahead. We also spoke with Pastor James Coates of GraceLife Church, who was in attendance. As you may recall, Pastor James was also arrested and had his worship space seized by Alberta Health Services, so the two pastors share a unique bond born of their shared fight for religious freedom.
The buildings for GraceLife Church and Fairview Baptist Church were both returned to their rightful owners as restrictions have relaxed, but dozens of Christian communities across the country will not be so lucky. Arson has claimed the worship spaces of many people of faith. In total, 53 churches have experienced either arson or vandalism across Canada, and yet politicians have been largely silent on the matter. 3
Go to SaveOurChurches.ca and sign our petition demanding that politicians condemn these acts of hatred and terrorism and ensure safety for Christians and their places of worship.

Following Health Canada guidelines on mixing vaccines could get Canadians kicked off cruises
A little update on what is happening at the moment with cruises in Canada, including in Quebec. After several calls with different companies, I concluded that none of them have the exact same policies on vaccination. It reminds me strangely of Canada, where no province acts exactly the same as the others.
Quebec initially praised the AstraZeneca vaccine, but later recommended it only for those over 65. In the span of a few weeks, the government then lowered the recommended age to over 30. The government now only recommends AstraZeneca for those over 18 who received it for a first dose, or for those who cannot get the mRNA vaccines, but many people have already received their first dose of AstraZeneca.
The WHO has cautioned against mixing vaccine doses, as there are no long-term data on possible side effects. Health Canada has once again decided to manage this in its own way. They have encouraged people to mix and match the type of injections that would allow them to be more protected against COVID-19 and for a longer period of time.
After two double-vaccinated passengers were turned away from a cruise due to having mixed doses of the vaccines, I looked into the matter. Some companies would only approve mixed courses of vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna. Unfortunately, AstraZeneca is not included. Some companies simply refuse mixed vaccines altogether.
So we have a government that strongly recommended the mixing of vaccines to the population, and now those people are seeing their promised freedoms suppressed simply due to having listened to their government. How long will people tolerate what is happening? Is this what could happen on airlines, too?
How far will peopleâs tolerance go? If like me, you find things are going too far, please go to NoVaxPassport.com to support us and to sign our petition against these extreme measures.

Liberal connections overshadow Trudeauâs latest âindependentâ senate appointments
The Trudeau governmentâs latest so-called âindependentâ senate appointments have deep ties to the Liberal Party of Canada, leading to questions about Prime Minister Justin Trudeauâs claim that âindependentâ senators are non-partisan.
According to the government, the Independent Advisory Board for Senate Appointments is in charge of the candidate-selection process. The board is billed as an âindependent and non-partisanâ federal body which informs the prime minister on appointments.
However, of the eight latest senate appointments, five donated substantial amounts to the Liberals, two were former Liberal candidates and one was a director of the Trudeau Foundation.
On June 22, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recommended the appointments of Bernadette Clements, Hassan Yussuff and James Quinn. Just over a month later, on July 29, he recommended David Arnot, Michèle Audette, Amina Gerba, ClÊment Gignac and Karen Sorensen for appointment.
As reported by True North, Trudeau appointed former Liberal candidate Bernadette Clement to the senate despite failing to be elected as a Liberal candidate in 2011 and in 2015.
During both elections, Clement lost to Conservative MP Guy Lauzon. Photos of Clement as a candidate show her being embraced by Trudeau on the campaign trail. Although Clement has a long and storied past with the Liberal Party, the government made no mention of her past candidacies at the time of her appointment.
Former labour leader Hassan Yussuff has also used his position to elevate the Liberals in the past. In 2020, while still the leader of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC), Yussuff endorsed disgraced former Liberal finance minister Bill Morneauâs candidacy for the role of secretary general of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development.
Yussuffâs decision was immediately met with accusations of partisanship and denunciation from fellow union leaders. It was later revealed that Yussuff acted on his own and did not consult the CLCâs board before endorsing Morneau.
Like Clement, Michèle Audette was also a former Liberal candidate before being hand picked to the Senate by Trudeau.
In 2015, Audette ran as a candidate for the Liberal Party of Canada in the Terrebonne riding of Quebec. Audette lost the race to Bloc QuĂŠbĂŠcois MP Michel Boudrias.
Audetteâs elite Liberal ties donât end there, since Audete was also listed as a member of The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Board of Directors in its 2016-2017 plan.
As reported by True North, so-called âindependentâ senator Amina Gerba is a repeat donor to the Liberal Party of Canada.
Over the years, Gerba has donated hundreds of dollars to the Liberals, including a $250 donation to the 2015 campaign of Liberal cabinet minister MĂŠlanie Joly. Gerba has also donated $500 to the Liberal Party in 2019 and $454.80 to the AhuntsicâCartierville Federal Liberal Association in 2019.
While not having served as a federal Liberal, ClĂŠment Gignac has a long history in Quebecâs Liberal scene. As an MNA with the Quebec Liberal Party, Gignac served in office from 2009 to 2012 where he also held the position of minister of economic development, innovation and export trade.

Trudeau-appointed senator says Canada has âno democratic traditionâ of free speech
One of Canadaâs newest senators is on record supporting an online hate speech law like the one introduced by the Liberal government earlier this year, saying there is no such thing as unfettered free speech in Canada.
âCanada has no democratic tradition of unbridled free speech,â Senator David Arnot said in 2019. âFreedom of speech in Canada has always been freedom governed by limits recognized in law.â
Arnotâs comments were made before a hearing of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights. Far from being a neutral legal assessment of free speech rights in Canada, Arnot was actively calling on the government to introduce measures to restrict online speech.
Arnot, then serving as Saskatchewanâs human rights commissioner, said the repeal of section 13 of the Canadian Human Rights Act by the previous Conservative government left Canadians with âlittle ability to protect themselves against online hate speech and discrimination since then.â
Section 13 allowed the Canadian Human Rights Commission to prosecute people for supposedly hateful comments made online. The section had a near-100% conviction rate before it was repealed under heavy scrutiny for limiting free speech.
Justin Trudeauâs Liberals reintroduced section 13 earlier this year in Bill C-36, which prohibits online comments the government deems âlikely to foment detestation or vilification of an individual or group of individuals on the basis of a prohibited ground of discrimination.â
In Arnotâs testimony, he called for a revival of section 13, as well as independent prosecution rights for the Canadian Human Rights Commission to pursue cases without complainants.
In his testimony, Arnot said censoring online speech can, somehow, benefit free speech.
âIronically, hate speech arises in public debates and can be very restrictive and exclusionary,â he said. âLegitimate debate in our democracy that is expressed in a civil manner encourages the exchange of opposing views. Hate speech is antithetical to that objective. It shuts down dialogue by making it difficult or impossible for members of a vulnerable group to respond, thereby stifling discourse. Hate speech that shuts down public debate cannot dodge prohibition on the basis that it promotes debate.â
Arnot did not provide a definition for hate speech or explain how it infringes on other peopleâs right to speak freely.
âIdeas are not the target; rather the mode of expression of the idea is the target,â he said. âA realistic view of modern society must inform free speech, discourse, and the limits thereon.â
Last week, government officials unveiled their plans to establish a digital safety commission to oversee social media companies and their compliance with the new online hate speech rules. Under the proposed regime, tech companies would have 24 hours to remove content flagged as illegal or face fines in the millions of dollars.

'For $1/Day'⌠Double-Blind Ivermectin Study Reveals COVID Patients Recover More Quickly, Are Less Infectious
A double-blind Israeli study has concluded that Ivermectin, an inexpensive anti-parasitic widely used since 1981, reduces both the duration and infectiousness of Covid-19, according to the Jerusalem Post.
The study, conducted by Prof. Eli Schwartz, founder of the Center for Travel Medicine and Tropical Disease at Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer, looked at some 89 eligible volunteers over the age of 18 who had tested positive for coronavirus, and were living in state-run Covid-19 hotels. After being divided into two groups, 50% received ivermectin, and 50% received a placebo. Each patient was given the drug for three days in a row, an hour before eating.
83% of participants were symptomatic at recruitment. 13.5% of patients had comorbidities of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, hypertension or cancer. The median age of the patients was 35, ranging from 20 to 71-years-old.
Results
Treatment was discontinued on the third day, and patients were monitored every two days thereafter. By day six, 72% of those treated with ivermectin tested negative for the virus, vs. 50% of those who received the placebo. Meanwhile, just 13% of ivermectin patients were able to infect others after six days compared to 50% of the placebo group - nearly four times as manyâŚ..

Feds grant $1.2 billion in loans to 4,927 unidentified businesses
https://tnc.news/2021/08/03/feds-grant-1-2-billion-in-loans-to-4927-unidentified-businesses/
The federal Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) approved 100% loan guarantees of $1.2 billion to 4,972 unidentified businesses. The loans were disclosed in a recently released BDC report to the House of Commons finance committee.
The BDC is a crown corporation, is wholly owned by the federal government and is a major lender and investor in companies across Canada. Loans were approved through a Highly Affected Sectors Credit Availability Program launched by cabinet in February 2021.
Companies that previously qualified for wage and rent subsidies and showed 50% revenue losses in three of the previous eight months before their application were eligible for 100% loan guarantees, as first reported by Blacklockâs reporter.
Official estimates show that fifty-two banks and credit unions across Canada have enrolled in the program to date. Records show that loans reaching $6.25 million were made available to chain operators of hotels and restaurants. The program waives interest payments for a year, and the 4% loans have a decade-long repayment period.
Spokesperson for the United Here union representing hospitality workers Michelle Travis urged borrowers to be identified. On May 21, she told the finance committee âtransparency is critical,â and that âthe public should know because the government is absorbing the risk.â
âFrankly there are a lot of programs that are out there at the federal level and we donât know which companies are tapping them,â said Travis. âWhich companies are getting low interest, fully-backed loans from the government? And how much are they getting?â
Finance minister Chrystia Freeland said that the loan guarantees were meant to help hard-hit employers âweather this storm and be ready for a robust recovery.â
Freeland gave the impression that the loans were given due to hardships brought on by the pandemic, although evidence suggests that the BDC might be in no position to issue loans at all.
In 2018, Ian Madsen of the Frontier Centre for Public Policy published a valuation of the BDC. Madsen raised concerns over the illiquidity of BDCâs assets. He concluded that âit is far better that private investors take on the risks that BDC is incurring.â
Madsen told True North that the BDC pandemic loans âseem to be an instance of mission creep and political meddling, wherein the government has steered them into being a lender of last resort.â

US senator slams Trudeau governmentâs silence on Cuba
https://tnc.news/2021/08/04/us-senator-slams-trudeau-governments-silence-on-cuba/
US Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) chastised the Trudeau government for not speaking out enough about the ongoing human rights abuses and political upheaval in communist Cuba.
While addressing a recent statement by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken which condemned the Cuban governmentâs actions with regard to democratic protesters, Menendez noted Canadaâs âabsenceâ on the international stage.
âI am proud to see Secretary Blinken and the administration make that happen. I applaud those governments that joined Secretary Blinken, but I also note the absence of those, including Canada and Spain and the European Union,â said Menendez in the US Senate on July 28.
âDoes Canada place more priority on mining investments than it does on fundamental freedoms? I would hope not. These universal principles should unite all of us.â
Since Cuban authorities began their brutal crackdown on pro-freedom protesters in recent months, critics have accused Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of being wilfully blind to the communist regimeâs human rights abuses.
In response to a request to condemn the Cuban government, Trudeau didnât have an unkind word to say about the communist regime saying that âCanada has always stood in friendship with the Cuban people.â
While the United States placed sanctions on a number of Cuban government officials, Liberal Foreign Affairs Minister refused to say whether the Canadian government would be doing the same.
Trudeauâs tardiness with regard to condemning Cuba and other communist regimes is nothing new considering his past praise for Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.
Upon the death of Castro in 2016, Trudeau gave a glowing eulogy to the brutal dictator saying that he was a âlegendary revolutionary and oratorâ who âmade significant improvementsâ to his country.
Others including NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh have also had glowing words to say about Cubaâs communist regime and Castro in the past.
Conservative Party Leader Erin OâToole was the first to release an official statement condemning the Cuban government on July 15 following violent crackdowns by communist authorities.
âWhile the Cuban people have taken to the streets to demand democratic freedoms, and basic necessities like food, water, and medicine, the leaders of Canadaâs left-wing political parties have remained silent.â
âThe silence of these individuals, some of whom have praised the brutal dictators of the Cuban regime before, speaks volumes. Actions and words matter, especially when it is politically inconvenient to do so.â

BC nurse accused of being transphobic after advocating for womenâs rights
https://www.rebelnews.com/bc_nurse_accused_of_being_transphobic_after_advocating_for_women_s_rights
Freedom of expression and freedom of speech are rapidly fading in Canada, and it appears that anyone who dares to have a public opinion that doesnât fall in line with the far-left, âpolitically correctâ narrative can easily fall victim to cancel culture, including medical professionals.
In this report, I interview Amy Hamm. Sheâs a Vancouver-area mom, who passionately advocates for womenâs rights in her spare time. So whatâs the problem with that, you ask?
Well, Hamm also happens to make her living as a nurse. And as soon as some trans-rights-over-biological-womenâs-rights social justice warriors got word of that, they set out to fulfill their calling in life by trying to have Hamm cancelled. It appears the B.C. College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) has taken the bait, and is trying to discipline Hamm for her activism and exercising her freedom of expression.
You may recognize Hamm from when I interviewed her in front of the massive âI love JK Rowlingâ billboard that she and fellow Vancouver-area activist Chris Elston collaborated on putting up in Burnaby, B.C.
The sign was intended to show support for Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, for her defence of women and childrenâs rights. But the billboard didnât stay up for long.
Shortly after Vancouver City Councillor Sarah Kirby-Yung â who previously contributed to defunding Canadaâs longest running rape shelter because they wouldnât admit males or biological males who identify as women, in a safe space created for women dealing with trauma from sexual assaults â took to Twitter to condemn the sign, and demanded the billboard owners take down the sign that said nothing transphobic on it.
While Elston and Hamm have not collaborated since the billboard, it hasnât stopped both of them from being attacked for their activism. In March, Elston was viciously assaulted for his activism. Hamm has now been subjected to an intense investigation for hers, and could potentially be disciplined for speaking out.
Watch this report to hear from Hamm about her ordeal, as well as from her legal counsel, Lisa Bildy, who is the Interim President at the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms.

Calgary doc who claims âno tiesâ to Alberta NDP has donated nearly $20,000 to party
https://tnc.news/2021/08/04/calgary-doc-who-claims-no-ties-to-alberta-ndp-has-donated-nearly-20000-to-party/
An outspoken Calgary doctor and frequent media go-to who has called on Albertans to topple the UCP government for lifting COVID-19 restrictions claims that he has no affiliation with the rival Alberta NDP despite donating nearly $20,000 to that party since 2014.
In a tweet, Dr. Joe Vipond urged Albertans to âtake to the streetsâ to take down Premier Jason Kenneyâs government in response to the provinceâs decision to lift mandatory COVID-19 quarantines and other public health restrictions. Vipond also called for a âgeneral strike.â
A âgeneral strikeâ is a mass mobilization of workers in a community. Such a display would involve most public sectors and could deprive Albertans of health, education, care for children and seniors, social supports, and other government programs, just as the province begins to recover from a devastating year of lockdowns.
Vipond also demanded Albertaâs Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw resign for her role in lifting the restrictions.
âItâs quite evident now that public health is not actually putting in policies to protect the health of the public. I think this is a travesty, and I think she should resign,â said Vipond during a protest earlier this week.
Alberta elections finance data shows that a Joe and/or Joseph Vipond living in Calgary, Alberta has contributed $19,387.50 to the Alberta NDP in the last seven years.
Vipondâs contributions include an $8,000 donation to a 2015 NDP campaign and another $4,000 campaign contribution in 2019. Vipond also made regular annual donations to the NDP ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 every year from 2014 to 2019.
When asked for comment, Vipond told True North that he had âno tiesâ to the NDP despite the tens of thousands in contributions.
âI have no ties with the NDP other than past donations. As a strong supporter of climate action, I felt it was my duty as citizen (sic) to support a party that acknowledges and acts on the climate crisis,â Vipond told True North.
Media outlets like CTV News, CBC and Global News have all quoted Vipond as a medical expert in response to the Alberta governmentâs changes without making any reference to his extensive political contributions to the NDP.
True North reached out to UCP Executive Director of Communications and Planning Brock Harrison for comment on Vipondâs political contributions.
âAll Albertans are able to participate in the political process, and that includes donating to their party of choice. Nearly $20,000 in partisan political donations to the Alberta NDP speaks for itself. Readers can draw their own conclusions,â Harrison said in an emailed statement.
âMembership in a political party is not publicly disclosed, so we canât speculate on whether an individual is an NDP member. Only the NDP would be able to confirm that.â
On Twitter, Vipond has vehemently denied any claims that he is an NDP activist or has ties to the party.
âReference for me being a NDP activist doctor plz? Thanks for that. Otherwise this might be considered slander, if not true,â said Vipond in an Aug. 3 Twitter reply.
âI am an independent practitioner with no ties to the NDP. If you have evidence to the contrary, feel free to produce it,â he also tweeted earlier that day.

CBC advertising revenue down 18% last year
https://tnc.news/2021/08/04/cbc-advertising-revenue-down-18-last-year/
Canadaâs state broadcaster lost 18% in ad revenue last year and is seeking to find âadditional fundingâ to offset the loss.
According to Blacklockâs Reporter, the CBC Corporate Plan Summary 2021-2025 noted the networkâs cash flow struggles.
âAdvertising revenue from conventional TV will continue to be under pressure,â wrote CBC management.
The CBC also noted that âwithout additional funding, program spending in future years will have to be reduced to match available resources and some services will have to be reduced.â
CBC receives $1.2 billion a year in taxpayer dollars annually, which is its main source of income. Last year, the broadcaster reported a $204.8 million decline in advertising revenues when compared to the year prior.
In their plan, the CBC bet on a surge in revenues from the Tokyo Olympics but it has yet to be seen whether the networkâs dwindling viewership has matched its hopes.
âThe projections are based on a series of assumptions pertaining to key factors, e.g. the economy, media industry, rules and regulations, that are difficult to predict and are beyond our control,â the plan claimed.
âAny changes to these factors may cause actual results to differ from the projections over the planning period.â
In recent years, CBC has struggled with dwindling viewership and retaining a sizable audience. Last year, it was revealed that in 2019 CBC-TV viewership fell below 4% for the first time in history.
Although the CBCâs popularity and financial viability continues to fall into the gutter, the Trudeau government has indicated that it may increase âfunding supportâ for the ailing network.
An April 20 briefing note titled Funding Support For The CBC, claimed that the government had concerns about the âimmense pressureâ on the broadcasterâs finances.

Toronto Blue Jays ânational interest exemptionâ latest COVID hypocrisy
https://www.rebelnews.com/toronto_blue_jays_national_interest_exemption_latest_covid_hypocrisy

People Versus Predators pushing for legislative changes to better protect kids
https://www.rebelnews.com/people_versus_predators_pushing_for_legislative_changes_to_better_protect_kids
Over the August long weekend in Alberta, the People Versus Predators Association was working hard to make legislative changes to the bail system to keep kids safe and keep predators away from schools and playgrounds.
We first met Mike Meilleur and Cheri Easton last year, when we documented the work they are doing to keep kids and communities safe and informed through People Versus Predators (PvP). Nearly every weekend, Mike, Cheri and the other PvP volunteers are doing community awareness sessions, childrenâs self-defence sessions and giving communities a voice in the bail system through petitions.
PvP collects in person signatures in affected neighbourhoods when they find out an accused or recidivist sex offender has been released into a given area. They then take these signatures as evidence of community concerns â a tertiary consideration in Alberta bail hearings â and submit them to Crown prosecutors asking for amendments to the conditions of release for accused sex offenders. And they have had some real successes in keeping suspected offenders behind bars and away from places where kids may congregate.
But for Cheri and Mike, the community petitions are only a stopgap measure to an immediate problem. They want real legislative change that requires escalating mentoring for offenders and mandatory restrictions on how close offenders can be to schools, playgrounds and daycares. Getting federal legislative change means another petition â this time nationwide. But unfortunately, like their community petitions, PvP needs to collect these signatures in person, and they need volunteers and resources to do so.
Mike and Cheri are largely self funded, both working two jobs to keep their fight to protect kids going. The perverse irony is that because they want to change laws to protect victims, PvP is labelled a lobby group. Because of that, they do not qualify for the same tax benefits as civil liberties groups, which advocate for offendersâ rights and lighter sentences.
The legal system is not only stacked against the victim, but also against those who champion the victim.

âNothing makes senseâ: Manitoba man fired for attending lockdown protest
https://www.rebelnews.com/nothing_makes_sense_manitoba_man_fired_for_attending_lockdown_protest
Ryan Johnston is yet another victim of the "health and safety" regulations here in Canada. Over the past year and a half, protests of all sorts have been seen across the country, from Black Lives Matter to pro-Palestine rallies. But most notably, those who participate in protests that go against government dictum, i.e. pro-freedom and anti-lockdown protests, seem to have been selectively targeted by the government for enforcement.
And as Ryan found out recently, by employers too.
After attending the Worldwide Freedom Rally in Winnipeg, Manitoba Ryan was contacted by his employer, who requested to know if he had been at the event. Because Ryan is an honest man, he gave an honest answer: he was there, and he was proud of it. This didn't bode well for his former employer HyLife, who promptly took action against him. It started as a two week suspension without pay, and later devolved into Ryan leaving the company that once put food on his table.
The difficult situation here is that even though HyLife is able to have policies on workplace health and safety, it most certainly should be applying punishment equally for those who break their rules. Unfortunately, as we heard from Ryan himself, there are many at the company who flout the rules, as long as they know they can get away with it, much like Ryanâs former supervisor who initiated the disciplinary actions against him. Allegedly, this same person was also having birthday parties against company guidance.
We reached out to HyLife to get their side of the story, but unfortunately, so far, they've decided not to get back to us. Stay tuned as political oppression continues to escalate here in Canada, and remember we will continue to update you as new information comes out.

NDP faces heat from Atlantica Party for promoting ârent-control government intervention clichĂŠâ
https://tnc.news/2021/08/04/ndp-faces-heat-from-atlantica-party-for-promoting-rent-control-government-intervention-cliche/
The Nova Scotia NDP will introduce permanent rent controls and build 1000 new affordable housing units in four years at an annual cost of $39.6 million.
The NDP received immediate pushback from Atlantica Party (AP) leader Jonathan Dean who told True North, âit is depressing but not surprising to see [the NDP] trot out the old-fashioned rent-control government intervention clichĂŠ.â
The announcement came in an August 3 media release in which the NDP criticized the Liberals for building âfewer than 200 new affordable housing units andâŚeliminating temporary rent controls leaving people vulnerable to skyrocketing rent increases.â
The NDPâs housing promise is an integral part of their campaign for the upcoming August 17 provincial election. A recent poll conducted by Mainstreet research found that the NDP has 22% support, behind the Progressive Conservatives (30.3%) and Liberals (42.4%).
Nova Scotia NDP leader Gary Burrill claimed that ârent control is the best solution to ensure people can stay in their homes while supply increases.â Dean disagrees, saying that âMr. Burrillâs statement is contradictory since rent control destroys supply, supply will not increase and upward pressure on rents will be greater. If you own a packet of land, why build affordable housing or rental units if rent control exists to limit your profits and create hassles with bad renters? Better to build condos or something else. Where is the supply increase?â
Halifaxâs current vacancy rate of 1.9% is the second-lowest of all Canadaâs major cities. Fraser Institute Economist Livio Di Matteo explained in 2019 that the two main reasons Canadian would-be renters are facing low vacancy rates is because of ârising demand and tight supply. And rent controls only exacerbate the situation.â
Rent control âis good for politicians, good for current renters and bad for everyone else, especially people needing accommodation â it is a typical lazy political position that is bad for Nova Scotia overall â this is the type of bad political decision-making we want to eliminate,â said Dean.
AP worries that the artificial nature of affordable housing and rent control leads to problems such as saddling âlandlords with unreasonable regulations.â AP instead advocates for a âcommon sense approach to affordable housing.â
âIf there is a shortage of rental units and affordable housing, then AP will press cities to alter the municipal codes, so it is profitable to build them,â said Dean. He wants to âget the free market involvedâŚsimplify building codes, make rental codes more owner-friendly, encourage more private ownership, allow very low-cost mini-apartments, semi-dorm style living, pod sleepers, and very tiny homes, lower municipal charges and taxes.â

Majority of Canadians oppose transgender athletes in womenâs sports
https://tnc.news/2021/08/05/majority-of-canadians-oppose-transgender-athletes-in-womens-sports/
With the Tokyo Olympics in full swing, the debate surrounding transgender athletes has heated up to an all-time high but according to a recent poll, itâs clear Canadians oppose the participation of male-born transgender athletes in womenâs sports.
This finding comes from a new poll commissioned by the Macdonald-Laurier Institute (MLI).
According to the poll, 56% of respondents believe it is ârightâ for men and women to compete separately from each other. 18% believe it is âwrongâ that there are separate gender categories.
Further, 62% of Canadians believe it is âunfairâ for transgender athletes who were born male to compete in womenâs sport events whereas 15% believe it is âfair.â
The MLI poll was analyzed by Canadian pollster Conrad Winn. Winn believes governments and decision makers need to pay close attention to the findings of this poll.
âGovernments do countless things that affect lives â from health and military spending to taxation and roads. But there are few things that resonate with the average person more than sports, sex, and gender,â said Winn.
âSports administrators and government leaders need to pay attention to polls that reflect what people may care about. These opinion research findings are worth considering as policy leaders search for the right answers.â
In an MLI webinar regarding the poll, University of Manchester Developmental Biologist Emma Hilton said that âfemales need a protective sports category because quite frankly, without a protective category, females wouldnât win anything.â
âThere are tens, hundreds of thousands of physical differences between males and females and obviously these lead to functional and performance differences,â said Hilton. âThese performance differences create athletic gaps. Males can run 10% faster, they can jump 20% longer, they can throw 50% further, they can lift 65% heavier, and they can punch 160% harder than females can.â
In the Tokyo Olympics, the first-ever transgender Olympic athlete Laurel Hubbard competed in weightllifting. Hubbard is biologically male, identifies as a female and was able to compete against other women.

Kids Who Had Mild/Asymptomatic COVID Still Have Antibodies Months Later
https://www.zerohedge.com/covid-19/kids-who-had-mildasymptomatic-covid-still-have-antibodies-months-later
Researchers have found robust antibody responses up to four months after infection in children and adolescents who had mild to asymptomatic cases of COVID-19.
The study found that the children and adolescents who previously had COVID-19 developed antibody responses capable of neutralizing the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Further, these responses were comparable or superior to those observed in adults.
âThe study shows that children whoâve had mild infections or even those who did not have any symptoms, develop an immune response that will likely provide some protection against future infections,â said co-lead author Jillian Hurst, assistant professor in the pediatrics department at Duke University School of Medicine.
The researchers evaluated the SARS-CoV-2-specific immune responses in 69 children and adolescents, with ages ranging from 2 months old to 21 years old. The median age of participants was 11.5 years, and 51 percent were female.
The researchers measured antibody responses among children and adolescents with asymptomatic and mild symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection and found that the antibody response didnât differ based on the presence of symptoms, and SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing antibodies remained detectable in the majority of participants up to four months after infection.
The researchers also compared the childrenâs immune responses to those of adults. They found that all children, regardless of age group, had equivalent or slightly higher levels of antibodies than adults at two months and four months after acute infection.
âMost studies of the immune responses of children to SARS-CoV-2 have focused on patients hospitalized for severe COVID-19 or multi-system inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C), or have assessed immunity only during acute infection,â Fouda said.
âOur study provides important information that SARS-CoV-2-specific immune responses, regardless of disease severity, may decline over time more slowly in children and adolescents.â
The study of 69 children appears in JCI Insight.
The study received funding from the Duke University School of Medicine; the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, Office of Research and Development; the National Institutes of Health; the U.S. Defense Advanced Projects Agency; and Virology Quality Assurance. COVID-19 samples were processed at the Duke Regional Biocontainment Laboratory, which received partial support for construction from NIH.

LEVY: Government-subsidized âaffordableâ housing is not the least bit affordable
https://tnc.news/2021/08/05/levy-government-subsidized-affordable-housing-is-not-the-least-bit-affordable/
In the past six months, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has handed over hundreds of millions of dollars in affordable housing money to Toronto with no checks and balances.
The two announcements â Jan. 15 and July 29 â gave Toronto $335-million in Rapid Housing Initiative money for 773 âaffordable homes.â
In reality, they will be mostly tiny modular housing units of 325-square-feet lumped together in a multi-residential building.
Simple math puts each âaffordable homeâ at $433,376 just to construct, which does not include the dollars needed to provide supports such as harm reduction, mental health, wellness and employment counselling â facts not mentioned by federal minister Ahmed Hussein, Toronto MP Adam Vaughan or Mayor John Tory at the two highly promoted announcements.
Government-subsidized âaffordableâ housing, as Iâve been saying for years, is not the least bit affordable â especially for taxpayers.
But thereâs something even worse than tossing barrels of money at Canadaâs largest city prior to an election callâwith seemingly no fiscal oversight.
The Rapid Housing Initiative (RHI) program mandates that the homes be constructed within 12 months. On the surface, that seems like a good way to make sure the city (which operates at a snailâs pace) gets things done.
But itâs not the least bit fiscally efficient.
As has repeatedly occurred since the program was announced, the bureaucrats have used the tight timelines to sole-source the work as well as to overpay for buildings and for the construction itself.
The official mantra is that city officials had no choice but to sole-source the services required because of the âemergencyâ due to COVID. They continually maintain that COVID has left people without housing even though more than $200-million has also been spent housing people in fancy hotels like the Novotel on the Esplanade.
Take the first 99 units of modular housing built in downtown Toronto and in Scarborough late in 2020. City officials claimed they needed to sole-source the job to Horizon North â based in Vancouver, B.C. â because of pressures from COVID and the need for immediate housing.
Abi Bond, executive director of Torontoâs housing secretariat, came to Toronto from Vancouver in early 2019, where Horizon North was used for their modular housing builds.
As I quickly found out there were other Ontario suppliers who could have built the same pre-fab units at 2.5 times less the cost. At 350-square-feet, Horizon Northâs off-the-shelf design cost taxpayers $600 per square foot.
But excuses were just that â excuses. After a tendering process lasting much of last fall and which closed Nov. 30, city officials decided to give the second phase to NRB Modular Solutions â which is Horizon North under a new name.
One supplier said his company didnât make the cityâs Roster of Approved Service providers and was never able to find out which manufacturers made the list.
âSo much for transparency in the spending on this critical, but extremely expensive, program,â he said.
Meanwhile, supposedly feeling flush from their pot of RHI funds, the city paid $94.9 million to buy an entire building at a prime location in downtown Toronto (877 Yonge St. for those who know the city) in April of this year.
The building â which tragically forced all of its senior residents out in 2019 and sat empty for more than a yearâ is to be converted into 252 affordable homes.
The whole transaction has been extremely secretive. Continued at source

Toronto to ban Indigenous-themed sports team names for non-Indigenous people
https://tnc.news/2021/08/05/toronto-to-ban-indigenous-themed-sports-team-names-for-non-indigenous-people/
On August 10th, Toronto Parks, Forestry & Recreation (PFR) will propose to ban all sports teams from using âIndigenous-themed logos and team namesâ by ânon-Indigenous usersâ in city facilities.
In a presentation to the cityâs Aboriginal Affairs Advisory Committee, PFR Interim Director of Client & Business Services Kevin Carr says the move is in line with directives by the Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC).
âTo promote a positive and inclusive experience in City of Toronto facilities and to protect the dignity and well-being of Indigenous communities, the City of Toronto prohibits the display of any Indigenous-themed images or names by non-Indigenous user groups, and discourages the display of Indigenous-themed names or images on team uniforms and personal belongings by non-Indigenous users,â a proposed ânext stepsâ clause reads.
As an example of two team names identified as âbeing of concernâ for Indigenous content were the High Park Braves and the Willowdale Blackhawks. According to Carr, both teams have changed their names to Toronto High Park Little League and the Willowdale Hawks, respectively.
âAs of July 2021, there are no Indigenous-themed images or names being used by non-Indigenous user groups in PFR sports facilities,â writes Carr.
True North reached out to the City of Toronto for comment on what threshold officials would use to consider an organization to be ânon-Indigenous usersâ and received the following reply.
âOur commitment â as stated in the report â is promoting a positive and inclusive experience in our facilities and protecting the dignity and well-being of Indigenous communities. The proposed policy change, affecting no existing Toronto teams, is a straightforward way to honour this commitment,â Toronto media relations officer Alex Burke told True North.
On May 13, 2019, the OHRC issued a letter on the so-called âharmful impact of Indigenous-themed sports logosâ in city facilities.
âThe Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC) recently intervened in an Application before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO) which alleged that the use and display of Indigenous-themed logos and team names in the City of Mississauga sports arenas was discriminatory,â wrote OHRC Chief Commissioner Renu Mandhane.
âThe OHRC is now contacting municipalities in Ontario to ask that they follow suit. This is in keeping with the OHRCâs mandate to identify, prevent, and eliminate discrimination, and to promote human rights within the province using a range of powers under the Human Rights Code.â
The issue of Indigenous-themed sports names and depictions has also received international attention in the recent past. Following the widespread George Floyd protests in 2020, the Washington Redskins were forced to change their name and logo to a temporary name, the Washington Football Team, after 87 shareholders and investors pressured the organization over alleged racism.

Trudeau considering mandating vaccines for federal workers
https://tnc.news/2021/08/05/trudeau-considering-mandating-vaccines-for-federal-workers/
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says his government is considering making the COVID-19 vaccine mandatory for government employees and those working in federally regulated industries.
âItâs time for people to get vaccinated, and for those who are hesitant to go and get their first and second doses,â Trudeau said during a press conference with Quebec Premier François Legault on Thursday.
âThatâs why Iâve asked the clerk of the Privy Council, who is responsible for the federal public service, to look at mandatory vaccinations for federal employees.â
Trudeau also said mandatory vaccines could apply to federally regulated industries such as airlines, banking and telecommunications.
This is the first time Trudeau has indicated support for a form of mandatory vaccination. While the majority of Canadians have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, approximately 20% of Canadians remain unvaccinated.
According to an Innovative Research Group poll, 60% of unvaccinated black Canadians expressed vaccine hesitancy, compared with 55% of white Canadians and 44% of non-Black visible minorities.
At the same press conference, Legault also announced that his government would be implementing vaccine passports, claiming Quebec is on the cusp of a fourth wave requiring such a response.
Ontario, Alberta and Saskatchewan have all rejected the idea of a vaccine passport, though Manitoba has adopted a similar program..

First Autopsy of Dead Person Vaccinated for Covid Found to Contain Spike Proteins in Every Organ of Body
https://dailyexpose.co.uk/2021/08/04/first-autopsy-of-dead-person-vaccinated-for-covid-found-to-contain-spike-proteins-in-every-organ-of-body/
Researchers from Germany conducted the worldâs first-ever postmortem study on a corpse that had been vaccinated against Covid-19 prior to their death. They discovered that every single organ of the deceased personâs body had become infested with spike proteins as a result of the vaccine.
The German scientific report titled âFirst case of postmortem study in a patient vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2â, which was published in June 2021, examined the autopsy of an 86-year-old man who had received a single dose of the Covid-19 vaccine but died a month later after becoming infected with Coronavirus by a nearby patient at a hospital.
According to the report, the man had a medical history including systemic arterial hypertension, chronic venous insufficiency, dementia, and prostate carcinoma.
The report, which was published in the International Journal of Infectious Diseases, states that on January 9th, 20201, âthe man received lipid nanoparticle-formulated, nucleoside-modified RNA vaccine BNT162b2 in a 30 Îźg dose.â Just 18 days after his dose of the vaccine, the man was admitted to the hospital for worsening diarrhea, where an âantigen test and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for SARS-CoV-2 were negative.â
However, by day 25, the vaccinated patient tested positive for Covid-19, presumably from a nearby Covid-infected patient in the hospital, and he, unfortunately, died of kidney and respiratory failure the following day.
According to the report, researchers found that the patientâs entire body had become overrun with high viral RNA loads, also known as vaccine-induced spike proteins.
The study concluded: âIn summary, the results of our autopsy case study in a patient with mRNA vaccine confirm the view that by first dose of vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 immunogenicity can already be induced, while sterile immunity is not adequately developed.â
In other words, whilst the Covid-19 vaccine triggered an immune response within the body, it did not seem to stop the spread of the virus throughout the body or the spike proteins that caused his organs to fail.
This bombshell study only confirms our worst fears that the Covid vaccine causes more harm than good, and may actually even accelerate the spread of the virus.

No, one Alberta man DID NOT end the lockdown and mask mandate
https://www.rebelnews.com/no_one_alberta_man_did_not_end_the_lockdown_and_mask_mandate
A viral video has been circulating online where it is alleged an Alberta man single-handedly ended the province's lockdown and mask mandates because public health could not provide proof that COVID-19 existed.
In a classic case of something sounding too good to be true, the actual story is more complicated than a headline suggests.
On today's Rebel News DAILY Livestream, hosts David Menzies and Sheila Gunn Reid took a look at this interview, involving an appearance by Patrick King on the Stew Peters Show.
Explaining how this wasn't the silver bullet that ended Alberta's lockdowns, Sheila Gunn Reid said:
No disrespect intended, but I want to first point out the timeline of all of this here⌠Now if you know the masking and basically the end of our lockdown [in Alberta] was July first. This court case transpired roughly on July 19, so that Stew Peters would attribute [ending the mandates] to Pat King, I don't think is accurate or fair and Pat King's court case didn't do any of that.
But I actually took the time to read the transcript of what went down in court that day and I also read the originating documents from Alberta Health Services about what went down.
Now, in that video, Pat King says that AHS has no material evidence that COVID-19 exists. It says the chief medical officer has no material evidence and in the video he presents this as, and I don't know if this is intentional or otherwise, that means there is no evidence that COVID-19 exists.
Now, that's not the case. It may be the case, it may not be the case. But that's not what that statement means. Material, in legal jargon, means relevant evidence.

Quebec Becomes First Canadian Province To Introduce Vaccine Passports
https://www.zerohedge.com/covid-19/quebec-becomes-first-canadian-province-introduce-vaccine-passports
Following in the footsteps of French President Emmanuel Macron, whose vaccine passport was yesterday upheld by France's Constitutional Court, Quebec has drawn up plans for a vaccine passport of its own.
According to France24, Quebec - Canada's second-largest province by population and its only province that's francophone, announced this week that it plans to introduce a vaccine passport, the first in Canada, to counter a fourth wave of the coronavirus and the spread of the Delta variant.
"The principle behind the vaccine passport is that people who have made the effort to get their two doses should be able to live a semi-normal life," provincial prime minister Francois Legault told a press conference.
Legault said the exact rules surrounding the passports will be revealed in the coming days, but explained that they would mostly govern access to "non-essential" activities such as dining out at a restaurant, or using the gym. NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio announce a similar program this week making NYC the only city in the US to adopt its own version of a vaccine passport.
Legault didn't offer an exact date for when the pass would go into effect. However, at this point, few adults would be affected: more than 80% of Quebec residents have received at least one dose, while more than 60% of adults have received at least one dose. However, unlike the NYC pass, which will allow those who have received at least one shot to dine indoors and work out at indoor gyms, the Quebec pass will require both shots.
"We will give certain privileges to those who have agreed to make the effort to get their two shots," Legault said.
The decision to adopt the pass comes as case numbers in Quebec have climbed recently, with the province recording more than 300 cases in a day this week, compared with roughly 100 per day in recent weeks.
While this increase is "still much lower than what we see in the United States, in most of the countries in EuropeâŚcan already talk about the beginning of a fourth wave," Legault said.
He also said the pass would help Quebec avoid another lockdown. Canadian PM Justin Trudeau said he supported the decision: "I fully support the initiative of Mr Legault and the Quebec government."
As Quebecois wait to learn more about the plan, Legault didn't say anything about the potential punishments. For example, those who violate the vaccine passport rules in France could face up to 6 months in prison for the offense. Will Quebec adopt a similarly over-the-top punishment?

Horwath forced to apologize for supporting Charter rights over mandatory vaccinations
Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath has backtracked after being heavily criticized for saying she supports Charter rights over mandatory vaccinations.
âI donât take lightly peopleâs charter rights, and so thatâs why what weâre saying is rapid tests, or your vaccination status and being vaccinated,â Horwath said on CBC News Wednesday.
âWe canât simply ignore that there are folks that are not going to get vaccinated and I donât think that the right thing to do is just to shut them out.â
Horwath faced swift backlash after the interview, including from federal NDP MP Charlie Angus, who said opposing mandatory vaccination amounted to âidiocy.â
âI just wrote to the party and told them they better push her to walk back her vaccination comments because the [Liberals] will drive a truck over our party for such idiocy,â Angus said in a Wednesday tweet, which was later deleted.
Horwath has since apologized for the comments, now claiming that she fully supports mandatory vaccinations in key sectors.
âI regret the comment. I was wrong. I fully support mandatory vaccination in health care and education, based on science and public health priorities,â Horwath said Thursday.
âI should have made that position clearer, much earlier, in support of the health and safety of the most vulnerable among us: seniors, people with disabilities, people who are sick, and children who canât yet get their vaccines.â
Justin Trudeau said heâs considering requiring federal workers and those employed in federally regulated sectors to get vaccinated.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford has stated that he will not make vaccinations mandatory for workers in the province.
âNo, we arenât doing it â simple as that. We arenât going to have a split society,â said Ford.
âI think itâs our constitutional right to take it or not take it. No one should be forced to do anything.â
Alternatively, Ontario Liberal Party Leader Steven Del Duca has stated that under his government COVID-19 shots would be mandatory for education workers and healthcare workers.

Convicted Ontario terrorist receives four-year peace bond with 26 restrictions
A convicted terrorist from Ontario who was released in 2019 despite posing a threat to society has been put on a four-year-long terrorism peace bond.
According to Global News, Kevin Omar Mohamed will have to abide by 26 restrictions under the bond including a GPS monitoring device and participating in a de-radicalization program.
Additional conditions include a ban on using social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook for three years. Mohamed is also not allowed to possess a passport, terrorist literature, explosives, firearms, âany knife or cutting toolâ, and bomb-making materials.
The 28-year-old was sentenced in 2017 to 4.5 years in prison for âparticipating in or contributing to, directly or indirectly, any activity of a terrorist group for the purpose of enhancing the ability of any terrorist group to facilitate or carry out a terrorist activity.â
The conviction stemmed from Mohamedâs travels in 2014, when he visited Syria with the hopes of joining the al-Qaeda affiliated terror group Jabhat Al-Nusrah.
Additionally, Mohamed participated in spreading terrorist propaganda on social media.
âIn those posts [Mohammed] made comments supportive of terrorist activities, promoted violence, and suggested that a person could create timed bombs to be put on planes or boats, and burn cars of ânon-believers;â [Mohammed] also commented on the beauty of attacking the west, suggestive of attacks on the Western world,â said the Parole Board of Canada.
Upon his initial arrest, police discovered a large hunting knife on his person and a list of potential targets to attack.
The Parole Board of Canada also cited Mohamed for his unapologetic extremist views and a likelihood that he would present a risk to the community.
âThe Board remains very concerned that the serious nature of your offences alone, coupled with your dangerous radical religious beliefs, would impede your reintegration and continue to present significant risk to the community as a whole,â wrote the Parole Board in a statement.
Despite these concerns, Mohamed was released with time served in 2019. Soon after his release, Mohamed was re-arrested on July 8, 2020 for breaching his parole conditions.
Mohamed is one out of an estimated 60 returning extremists who have travelled abroad in order to participate in terrorist activities.

UN Special Rapporteur On Torture: "Authorities Are Viewing Their Own People As An Enemy"
https://www.zerohedge.com/political/un-special-rapporteur-torture-authorities-are-viewing-their-own-people-enemy
UN Special Rapporteur on Torture Nils Melzer responded to police brutality dished out to anti-lockdown protesters in Germany last weekend by warning, âAuthorities are increasingly viewing their own people as an enemy.â
As we highlighted earlier in the week, Melzer, a professor of international law, made a request for eyewitnesses after footage emerged of numerous examples of people being manhandled and beaten by police in Berlin merely for expressing their right to assemble.
One clip showed a female anti-lockdown protester in Berlin being grabbed by the throat and brutally thrown to the ground by riot police, while another showed a young boy being struck in the face as he tried to come to the aid of his mother.
The response to Melzerâs request was overwhelming, with over a hundred reports of violence flooding in, leaving him with the task of âcalling for clarification as well as punishment and reparation for rule violations,â reports Berliner Zeitung.
The professor says there is clearly enough evidence âfor an official intervention on my part with the federal government.â
However, it was Melzerâs comments on the wider perspective of the crackdown that stirred the most interest.
After seeing similar scenes during anti-lockdown protests in European cities across the continent, as well as âpolice operations in demonstrations worldwide,â Melzer came to a sobering conclusion.
âSomething fundamental is going wrong. In all regions of the world, the authorities are apparently increasingly viewing their own people as an enemy,â he stated.
Melzer went on to assert that it is totally unethical for police to engage in violence against the citizenry unless it is in clear self-defense.
âIt is absolutely unacceptable when the police take action against defenseless demonstrators because of mere administrative offenses or civil disobedience with sometimes life-threatening violence,â he said.
The professor also noted the utter stupidity of police inflicting violence on demonstrators while claiming to do so in the name of âhealth protection.â
âIf the police do not clearly communicate that they see themselves as friends and helpers, but rather treat their own population as an enemy, then a dangerous spiral has been set in motion: namely that the next thing is that the population will also regard the police as an enemy,â concluded Melzer.
As we previously highlighted, while authorities continue to direct police to meter out violence against protesters, Germanyâs top newspaper recently profusely apologized for its fearmongering coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Targeted for associating with a pastor? Volunteer for Artur Pawlowski speaks out
https://www.rebelnews.com/targeted_association_pastor_artur_pawlowski_volunteer_street_church_calgary
After daring to remain open for worship despite COVID restrictions, Pastor Artur Pawlowski drew the ire of Alberta Health Services, politicians and lockdown advocates alike. Perhaps most shockingly, however, was the extent of malice the Pawlowski family endured at the hands of fellow citizens.
It is hard to imagine an incident more dramatic than the viral roadside footage of Pastor Arturâs arrest, but in the weeks following, Pastor Artur was assaulted while shopping with his daughter for a birthday cake, experienced an alleged arson at his home, and reportedly had the lug nuts on one of his vehicles loosened, not to mention the repeated incidents of vandalism at his church.
Most recently in the long string of apparently targeted attacks, Monty, a volunteer with Street Church, informed us that someone had fired a pellet or BB gun through his back window as he was driving. It seems now that even daring to help feed the poor alongside Pastor Artur makes you fair game for harassment and violence. Sadly, the politicians who riled up a great deal of the hostility against Pastor Artur and his church have yet to condemn these attacks against him, his family and his community of faith.
In this video I speak with Monty, who shared about his experience of being targeted simply for associating with Pastor Artur.
Restrictions are, for the time being, being relaxed across Alberta, but Alberta Health Services' persecution of pastors has certainly not slowed down. Pastor Artur is facing up to 21 days in jail for feeding the poor and continuing to worship throughout the COVID restrictions. We are covering all of Pastor Arturâs legal fees through our partnership with the Democracy Fund at SaveArtur.com. Consider contributing today if you want to support Pastor Arturâs fight for religious freedom.

Canada Begins Allowing Vaccinated US Citizens to Visit Again
https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/virus-outbreak-us-canada/2021/08/09/id/1031579/
Canada on Monday is lifting its prohibition on Americans crossing the border to shop, vacation or visit, but the United States is keeping similar restrictions in place for Canadians, part of a bumpy return to normalcy from COVID-19 travel bans.
U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents must be both fully vaccinated and test negative for COVID-19 within three days to get across one of the worldâs longest and busiest land borders. Travelers also must fill out a detailed on application on the arriveCAN app before crossing.
Even though travelers have to register, the Canada Border Services Agency wonât say how many people they are expecting to enter Canada for the reopening. But travelers should plan for the possibility of additional processing time at the border.
âCBSA will not compromise the health and safety of Canadians for the sake of border wait times,â agency spokeswoman Rebecca Purdy said in a statement.
While the Canada Border Services Agency won't say how many people it's expecting, Garnet Health, an Essex, Vermont-based company that offers same-day COVID-19 testing, has seen the number of tests it performs more than triple in recent weeks. The increase coincides with Canada's decision last month to drop a two-week quarantine requirement for its citizens when they return home from the U.S.
âI imagine once that border opens, we are going to see lots of people,â said Chelsea Sweeney, the company's director of business development.
The U.S.-Canada border has been closed to nonessential travel since March 2020 to try to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
The U.S. has said it will extend its closure to all Canadians making nonessential trips until at least Aug. 21, which also applies to the Mexican border. But the Biden administration is beginning to make plans for a phased reopening. The main requirement would be that nearly all foreign visitors to the U.S. will have to be vaccinated against the coronavirus.
But Canadians aren't waiting for reciprocal rules.
Joel Villanueva, owner of Primo's Mexican Grill in White Rock, British Columbia, about 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) north of the U.S. border, is more than ready for Americans to return.
âLetâs get this thing going,â he said. âA lot of our customers are from the United States, and we are literally minutes from across the border. We welcome our Americans, and we depend on their foot traffic.â
Villanueva said he supports people coming who are fully vaccinated and doesn't think there will be a rush of Americans initially. But if his restaurant and dozens of others along the waterfront could fill some tables with U.S. visitors every day for the rest of the summer, it would be a big financial boost, he said.
Near the border in Washington state, Blaine Chamber of Commerce board member Carroll Solomon called the reopening a step in the right direction for businesses. But she also said it was somewhat concerning because of an increase in COVID-19 cases nationwide as the highly contagious delta variant spreads.
âFor people who need to get up there (to Canada) for family reasons, it's wonderful,â said Solomon, who also volunteers at the Blaine Visitor Information Center.
With all the hoops people need to jump through â being fully vaccinated, getting tested for COVID-19 and uploading that information to an app â she doesnât think that people will be going to Canada for many day trips.
âI have a lot of friends on the Canadian side and would love to go have lunch with somebody, but you canât just do that; you have to plan days in advance to make sure you can get through,â Solomon said.
Itâs going to be an event for the Blaine area when Canadians can come down on a regular basis, she said.
As far as returning to the United States from Canada, U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman Jason Givens said there's no requirement to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test.
âCBP officers have been processing essential travel throughout the pandemic and remain ready and able to process American citizens and permanent residents returning from Canada,â Givens said by email.
Steve Blake, who lives in Stanstead, Quebec, just across the border from Derby Line, Vermont, is hoping his siblings living in the United States will be able to visit Canada soon so they can hold a memorial service for their mother who died in early 2020, just before the pandemic closed the border. But given the requirements, he doesn't know how quickly that will happen.
âIâd like it to be sooner rather than later,â he said.

Lacking federal action, Barrie to vote on funding First Nations drinking water
Barrieâs Deputy Mayor Barry Ward wants to step in where the federal and provincial government has fallen short and put an end to boil water advisories on First Nations reserves.
As a sponsor of a recent motion on overcoming discrimination and racism in Indigenous communities, Ward hopes that the City will approve a move to allocate a portion of the 2022 municipal water and wastewater revenue to improving access to drinking water.
According to the motion, the City of Barrie would âdedicate 0.2% of its 2022 water and wastewater revenue toward efforts to improve water services in Indigenous communities in a method to be determined at a future date.â
âThe 0.2% should bring in at least $100,000 in 2022,â Ward told True North.
âThe average annual water/wastewater bill in Barrie is about $880, meaning 0.2% would mean about $1.80 per household. Itâs not a large amount but in my mind it would be a wonderful gesture on the part of Barrie residents toward the spirit of reconciliation, working with Indigenous communities to achieve something most Barrie residents take for granted: turning on our tap and drinking our water.â
Barrie City Council will debate the motion on Monday night. A second part of the initiative involves inviting representatives of Water First, an Indigenous-led NGO to give a presentation before the municipal Finance and Corporate Services Committee.
According to Ward, he has not yet decided whether the funds would directly fund internships by Water First which train Indigenous youth to be certified water plant operators and is open to ideas from his fellow councillors.
âSince an estimated 40% of Ontario First Nations are under boil water advisories, I think it is obvious that federal and provincial governments have not done enough,â said Ward.
Since being first elected in 2015, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has walked back on his promise to end all boil-water advisories on Indigenous land by 2021.
In October 2020, the federal government blamed COVID-19 for their failure to deliver on the matter.
âWe recognize thereâs lots more work to do. Travel restrictions related to (COVID-19) have made it more difficult in certain situations, but we continue to work very closely with communities across the country,â said Trudeau at the time.
Now, the Liberal government claims that it wonât be able to end the advisories until at least 2023. As of June 16, 2021, there are currently 51 long-term boil water advisories in 32 Indigenous communities.

Trudeau ignores impact of mandatory vaccines on First Nations, black Canadians
As part of Prime Minister Justin Trudeauâs push to make vaccinations mandatory for the public service and federally-regulated industries, many Indigenous and black Canadians would likely be forced to get a COVID-19 jab.
Last week, Trudeau announced that he would pursue options to make vaccines mandatory for federal workers. He made no reference, however, to the fact that First Nations band leaders and reserve staff fall under that umbrella.
A vaccine mandate on all federal employees would include thousands of First Nations leaders.
Trudeau omitted referencing the impact on Indigenous and black Canadians despite official government statistics showing that vaccine hesitancy is highest among these two communities.
Statistics provided to True North by Health Canada confirm that black and Indigenous Canadians experience the highest rates of vaccine hesitancy in Canada.
A Statistics Canada COVID-19 vaccine willingness survey from March 26, 2021, reveals that black Canadians have the lowest willingness to take the COVID-19 vaccine (56.6%), while Indigenous Canadians have the second-lowest (71.8%).
âCertain sub-groups in Canada are more likely to report COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy. These include black Canadians, Indigenous peoples, newcomers, and younger adults, among othersâ â this according to a federal government backgrounder on vaccine hesitancy intended for healthcare workers.
Statistics Canada data shows that black Canadians make up a sizable part of Canadaâs public service, relative to the overall population. According to 2020 data on visible minorities in Canadaâs public service, black Canadians made up 3.5% of the total federal workforce.
According to an official count, as of August 9, 2021, 71.1% of Canadaâs population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 59.7% of Canadians have been fully vaccinated against the virus.
According to the Government of Canadaâs website on federally regulated industries and workplaces, âFirst Nations band councils (including certain community services on reserve)â are included in the list of organizations that are federally mandated and therefore would fall under Trudeauâs proposed mandatory vaccination scheme.
The Prime Ministerâs Office did not respond to True Northâs request for comment on why these facts were omitted from Trudeauâs announcement on mandatory vaccines for federal employees.

âPoliticians should be ashamedâ for response to church burnings, vandalism
At last count, more than 50 churches in Canada have been burnt to the ground or vandalized. Little wonder that hundreds of people gathered at Celebration Square in Mississauga, Ont. last Saturday to take part in a rally called Stop the Burning of the Churches in Canada.
You would think that condemning arson and vandalism against places of worship would be a no-brainer; but alas, the silence has been deafening from our so-called leaders. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau refuses to weigh in on this issue. Also tongue-tied are Public Safety Minister Bill Blair and RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki. As for Trudeauâs best pal, Gerald Butts, he âunderstandsâ the passion for the destruction.
Appalling.
As for the mainstream media, these ongoing atrocities always fail to make the front page (if they get covered at all, that is). It is a miracle no one has died during these acts of terrorism.
And yet, one must ponder: would there be a different reaction if these places of worship were mosques or synagogues or temples? We suspect that if these grotesque attacks were carried out on these institutions, a royal commission would already have been struck by now.
The unspoken âjustificationâ for these attacks is the disturbing news that is emerging regarding unmarked graves of First Nations children who attended residential schools decades ago. This is an atrocity, too, but how do two wrongs make a right? How does burning down a church on First Nations land that was used by the community for everything from weddings to funerals help matters in the here and now?
One of the keynote speakers at Saturdayâs rally was Raheel Raza, who lamented that this ongoing desecration of churches is exactly the sort of policy ISIS and Taliban thugs take part in. (Raheel is also the chairman of the Rebel News advisory board.) The disturbing thing is that this is not occurring overseas, but in Canada in 2021.
Conspicuous due to their absence at the rally were the politicians. Neither Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie nor the MP and MPP for the region could be bothered to show up. Indeed, not a single elected leader was in attendance to condemn the ongoing atrocities against Christian churches. How shocking, how cowardly is that?
Indeed, if you are as outraged about this as we are, please sign our petition at www.SaveOurChurches.com. Regardless of your religious background, letâs let our elected leaders know that these acts of hate and terror against places of faith must not be ignored or even normalized.

RCMP investigating arson at Fox Lake Community Church in northern Alberta
RCMP are investigating a weekend fire at a church located on the Fox Lake Indian reserve, 550 kilometres north of Edmonton in Alberta.
The RCMP told media in a statement that emergency crews responded some time around 10 p.m. on Saturday night after reports of a fire at the Fox Lake Community Church:
âŚMounties said smoke was observed coming from the interior of the structure as they arrived on scene.
The Fox Lake Volunteer Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire.
âThe building is still standing but sustained significant damage to the interior,â RCMP said. âA fire investigator attended the scene and was able to determine that the fire was deliberately set.â
Please go to SaveOurChurches.ca to sign our petition to Justin Trudeau, RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki, and Minister of Public Safety Bill Blair to recognize the burning of churches as acts of hate and terrorism, work forcefully to end them, and provide safety for Christians and their places of worship.

Chinese court upholds death sentence for Canadian man convicted of drug smuggling
https://www.rebelnews.com/chinese_court_upholds_death_sentence_for_canadian_man_convicted_of_drug_smuggling
A Chinese court has rejected a Canadian drug convictâs appeal of a death sentence on Tuesday, in what appears to be an effort to coerce Canada into releasing a detained executive of tech giant Huawei.
Robert Schellenberg, who was accused of smuggling drugs, had his sentence increased from a 15-year prison term to a death sentence. The decision seemingly coincided with Huawei chief financial officer Meng Wanzhouâs arrest in Canada.
Meng Wanzhou was detained at Vancouver Airport in December 2018 on U.S. charges related to possible dealings with Iran.
âWe oppose the death penalty in all cases, and condemn the arbitrary nature of Mr. Schellenbergâs sentence,â Canadian Foreign Minister Marc Garneau said in a statement following the verdict. Garneau said that Canada âstrongly condemns Chinaâs decisionâ and will continue to seek clemency for Schellenberg.
The Higher Peopleâs Court of Liaoning Province in the northeast rejected Schellenbergâs appeal and sent the case to the Chinese supreme court for review, which is required by law before a death sentence is carried out.
âWe condemn the verdict in the strongest possible terms and call on China to grant Robert clemency,â the Canadian ambassador to Beijing, Dominic Barton, told reporters. He criticized the penalty as âcruel and inhumane.â
Schellenberg was convicted of smuggling over 200kg of methamphetamine, according to the court. He was sentenced in November 2018 to 15 years and resentenced to death in January 2019 after a one-day retrial.
Canada, along with Australia and the U.S., is among a growing group of countries that face arrests of their citizens, trade boycotts, and other pressure from Beijing over political disputes.
The United States has warned its citizens of a âheightened risk of arbitrary detentionâ in China for purposes other than law enforcement.
China has rejected the suggestion the Schellenbergâs case is linked to Meng's case in Canada, though China has warned of unspecified consequences unless Meng was released. Chinese courts have a conviction rate of more than 99 per cent, with a conviction rate of 99.965% in 2019 and 99.969% in 2018.

Trudeauâs foreign policy has been a failure

The Chinese regime has sentenced one Canadian to death and another to 11 years in prison in the latest stage of its hostage diplomacy with Canada. When Justin Trudeau was elected in 2015 he insisted âCanadaâs back,â yet in the last six years Canada has failed to make a dent on the world stage. Trudeau spent his political capital on idle virtue signalling while Canadians were held behind bars and China waged genocide against the Uyghurs, True Northâs Andrew Lawton says.

Billboard campaign to highlight ballooning trillion-dollar federal debt
A campaign by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) hopes to make Canadians aware of how much debt the Liberal government has accrued on their behalf.
The cross-country initiative will include physical billboards and social media ads that seek to warn Canadians about the countryâs growing debt.
âDeficit spending is out of control and weâre pushing politicians to be honest about how theyâre going to pay back the $1-trillion debt,â said the CTFâs Federal Director, Franco Terrazzano.
âMore deficits mean more debt that Canadian kids and grandkids will need to pay back. Politicians need to rein in their deficit spending so future generations arenât weighed down by soaring government debt.â
Billboards are expected to appear in Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal, while social media ads will be broadcast to numerous communities.
When broken down based on each personâs individual share of the federal debt, Canadians can expect to pay about $29,000 per person for the governmentâs reckless spending.
âPoliticians owe taxpayers the truth about how they are going to pay for this $1-trillion debt and the truth is taxpayers are going to get clobbered if politicians donât tighten their belts. Interest charges on the debt siphon away billions that canât go to health care or lower taxes,â said Terrazzano.
Under the Liberal governmentâs watch, Canadaâs deficit has also grown as a result of reckless spending.
According to the Parliamentary Budget Officer, Canada will not be able to get out of a deficit until 2070 due to the Liberal governmentâs spending programs.
âOverall, it paints a picture of unsustainability for finances, both federal and provincial combined,â Parliamentary Budget Officer Yves Giroux said.
âAnd that is the big elephant in the room that nobody seems to be worried about or wanting to address.â

Trinity Bible Chapel remains shuttered by court order, but the sermon shall go on neverthelessâŚ
As previously reported, Trinity Bible Chapel in Waterloo, Ont., has been shuttered by court order since April 30.
This heavy-handed measure was done at the behest of the Attorney Generalâs office, which apparently looks upon Trinity Bible Chapel as a super-spreader venue, given that the church was âillegallyâ allowing more than 10 congregants into the chapel for service back in the springtime.
As well, many individuals associated with the church have been fined tens of thousands of dollars for violating the ludicrously named Reopening Ontario Act. This is surely a move that smacks of vindictiveness, to say the least.
Yet, how odd that the Attorney General has never had any issue whatsoever with even greater numbers of people cramming into various Walmarts, Costcos, and of course, government-owned and operated Liquor Control Board of Ontario outlets.
But then again, Premier Doug âOntario: Open For Businessâ/âFor the Peopleâ Ford has moved in mysterious ways since being elected back in 2018.
Currently, the church is still in lockdown mode. When he ordered the closure, Justice John Krawchenko stated: âThe risk of irreparable harm would be too great to ignoreâ if the church were allowed to remain open and admit more than 10 persons into the venue. (Oddly, no evidence has ever been provided that places of worship are hotspots for Wuhan virus transmission. So much for the âscience.â)
Yet, while Trinity Bible Chapel remains in lockdown mode, come rain or shine, services are still being conducted upon the lawns of the church.
Last Sunday, several hundred people showed up to take in several baptisms and a sermon by pastor Jacob Reaume. Pastor Reaume has no intention of bending the knee to the state in terms of agreeing to conditions that would allow the church to reopen (i.e., forcing congregants to don face masks).
Even so, what was abundantly clear last Sunday is that a church is far more than a mere brick and mortar building. While the state may have locked down this facility (and threatened contempt of court charges to anyone who might tamper with those locks), the congregants of Trinity Bible Chapel nevertheless celebrated their faith outdoors.
The province of Ontario might be able to maliciously lockdown a church, but the state canât kill faith.

Conflict of Interest: Reuters âFact Checksâ COVID-Related Social Media Posts, But Fails to Disclose Ties to Pfizer, World Economic Forum
From the onset of the pandemic, social media giants, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, have flagged COVID-related posts the social media giants deem âfalse or misleading.â
Thatâs not news â most social media users are aware of the practice, especially amid recent headlines citing increased pressure from Congress and the White House to aggressively crack down on âvaccine misinformation.â
But hereâs a less-publicized fact some social media users â and consumers of online news â may not know: Reuters, owned by the $40 billion international multimedia company, Thomson Reuters Corporation, is also in the business of âfact checkingâ social media posts, and publishing its fact-checking commentary online in a format designed to resemble new stories, which turn up in online searches.
Last week, Reuters announced a new collaboration with Twitter to âmore quickly provide credible information on the social networking site as part of an effort to fight the spread of misinformation.â
In February, Reuters announced a similar partnership with Facebook to âfact checkâ social media posts.
However, when announcing its fact-checking partnerships with Facebook and Twitter, Reuters made no mention of this fact: The news organization has ties to Pfizer, World Economic Forum (WEF) and Trusted News Initiative (TNI), an industry collaboration of major news and global tech organizations whose stated mission is to âcombat spread of harmful vaccine disinformation.â
Reuters also failed to provide any criteria for how information would be defined as âmisinformationâ and did not disclose the qualifications of the people responsible for determining fact versus false or misleading âmisinformation.â
Physician kicked off LinkedIn for calling out Reutersâ ties to TNI, Pfizer, WEF
Dr. Robert Malone, a physician and inventor of mRNA vaccines and RNA drugs, said he thinks anyone reading Reuters âfact checkâ articles about COVID-related content should know about, as Malone says, the obvious conflicts of interest.
On June 28, Malone tweeted this:
regarding the âTrusted News Initiativeâ and censorship of information regarding COVID vaccine safety, please be aware of the link between Pfizer and Reuters. I would call that a journalistic conflict of interest. What do you think? pic.twitter.com/qQCysxnPX6
â Robert W Malone, MD (@RWMaloneMD) June 28, 2021
In the tweet, Malone showed the LinkedIn profile of Jim Smith:
âJim Smith, who sits on Pfizerâs board, is also former president and current chairman of the Thomson Reuters Foundation, and CEO and director of Reuters parent company, Thomson Reuters Corporation â a $1.53 billion publicly traded âprovider of financial information ⌠to businesses, governments and individuals worldwide.â
Twitter didnât censor or remove the post. But when Malone posted the same information on LinkedIn, he was banned from the platform the next day for violating LinkedInâs âUser Agreement and Professional Community Policies against sharing content that contains misleading or inaccurate information.â
LinkedIn was purchased in 2016 for $26.2 billion by Microsoft, when the companyâs co-founder Bill Gates was still at the helm. Microsoftâs COO and corporate vice president, Kirk Koenigsbauer, also serves on the board of Thomson Reuters.
Gates, who is set to profit substantially from COVID vaccine sales, still owns stock in Microsoft â about $5.1 billion, according to recent estimates. In March, Gates stepped down from Microsoftâs board, but he continues to serve as technology adviser to the tech firmâs CEO, Satya Nadella.
Maloneâs LinkedIn profile was eventually restored, but only after a series of emails, initiated by Malone, between him and LinkedIn executives.
Whistleblowers Welcome! Help Humanity â Securely Share COVID-19 Corruption
In an interview last week with The Defender, Malone discussed his Twitter and LinkedIn posts â why he made them, the reactions they elicited and why it matters that Reuters is partnering with social media companies to call out what its fact-checkers decide is âmisinformation.â

It is âjustâ the inability to express our humanity and the total negation of our very selves. All of these measures have served as a prohibition of expressing outwardly oneâs valid and complex internal reality. This kind of suppression of self does violence to oneâs very soul.
All of these supposedly little and supposedly short-lived âjustsâ have transformed us into totalitarian states from which there appears to be no endpoint.
In New York City, California, Australia, etc., the people have permitted government such control over our daily lives that we have to ask it for permission to control our bodies, to move freely, to practice religion, to educate our children ourselves, to protest, etc.
Soon Biden, Trudeau, and other world leaders are going to clamp down on our ability to express ourselves and to associate with each other online so that we can no longer question, object to, or organize against government action. It is the destruction of democracy.

Vaccine Expert Vanden Bossche Calls For "Immediate Halt" To Vaccinations, Says They Encourage "Escape Mutant" Variants
Of all those who have been critical of our vaccination efforts related to Covid-19, vaccine expert Geert Vanden Bossche stands out as one of the loudest voices in the crowd.
Having been featured on Dr. Chris Martenson's Peak Prosperity and Bret Weinstein's Dark Horse podcast, Vanden Bossche has been outspoken - yet measured and reasoned - in his critiquing of mass vaccinations during the midst of the Covid pandemic. One of his main gripes with vaccination efforts is that vaccinating during the middle of a pandemic could potentially lead to a long runway of variants, some of which may evolve to be far more difficult to deal with than the original Covid virus.
And Vanden Bossche is an expert in the space with an extensive resume. He received his DVM from the University of Ghent, Belgium, and his PhD degree in Virology from the University of Hohenheim, Germany. He has worked for several vaccine companies (GSK Biologicals, Novartis Vaccines, Solvay Biologicals) to serve various roles in vaccine R&D as well as in late vaccine development.
He also joined the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundationâs Global Health Discovery team in Seattle (USA) as Senior Program Officer before working with the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) in Geneva as Senior Ebola Program Manager. At GAVI he tracked efforts to develop an Ebola vaccine. He also represented GAVI in fora with other partners, including WHO, to review progress on the fight against Ebola and to build plans for global pandemic preparedness.
He then joined the German Center for Infection Research in Cologne as Head of the Vaccine Development Office.
In a new blog post published yesterday, Vanden Bossche continued to raise questions about our mass vaccination program to fight Covid.
In a summary of his findings, he writes: "As of the early days of the mass vaccination campaigns, at least a few experts have been warning against the catastrophic impact such a program could have on global and individual health. Mass vaccination in the middle of a pandemic is prone to promoting selection and adaptation of immune escape variants that are featured by increasing infectiousness and resistance to spike protein (S)-directed antibodies (Abs), thereby diminishing protection in vaccinees and threatening the unvaccinated."
"This already explains why the WHOâs mass vaccination program is not only unable to generate herd immunity (HI) but even leads to substantial erosion of the populationâs immune protective capacity," he continues. "As the ongoing universal mass vaccination program will soon promote dominant propagation of highly infectious, neutralization escape mutants (i.e., so-called âS Ab-resistant variantsâ), naturally acquired, or vaccinal neutralizing Abs, will, indeed, no longer offer any protection to immunized individuals whereas high infectious pressure will continue to suppress the innate immune defense system of the nonvaccinated."
"This is to say that every further increase in vaccine coverage rates will further contribute to forcing the virus into resistance to neutralizing, S-specific Abs. Increased viral infectivity, combined with evasion from antiviral immunity, will inevitably result in an additional toll taken on human health and human lives."
He then urges "immediate action", writing: "Immediate action needs, therefore, to be taken in order to dramatically reduce viral infectivity rates and to prevent selected immune escape variants from rapidly spreading through the entire population, whether vaccinated or not. This first critical step can only be achieved by calling an immediate halt to the mass vaccination program and replacing it by widespread use of antiviral chemoprophylactics while dedicating massive public health resources to scaling early multidrug treatments of Covid-19 disease."

Getting the Band Back Together: U.K. and Canada Send Troops Back to Afghanistan
Afghanistanâs Khaama Press reported Friday that Canada has dispatched âan unknown number of Special Forcesâ troops to Afghanistan to evacuate staffers from the embassy in Kabul.
The United Kingdom said Thursday it will send 600 troops to help its own 4,000 nationals withdraw as the Taliban closes in on Kabul, while the United States hastily committed 3,000 troops to a similar effort.
A Canadian official not authorized to publicly discuss the special forces deployment told the Associated Press that special forces operators would be sent to protect the Kabul embassy, where staffers are currently shredding sensitive papers and preparing to evacuate.
Canada deployed about 40,000 troops to Afghanistan under the auspices of NATO but began withdrawing them in 2014.
âThe highly-trained soldiers are expected to work alongside allies, such as the United States and the United Kingdom, which are sending thousands of troops to the Afghan capital to aid in the partial evacuation of their embassies as security throughout the war-torn country rapidly deteriorates,â a Canadian defense source told CBC News.
CBCâs source said there has been an âextensive discussion between the Canadian military and U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM)â about U.S. forces providing âlogistical and transport assistanceâ for Canadaâs evacuation effort.
The Canadian government in July announced a program to resettle Afghans who served in positions âintegralâ to the Armed Forces mission, such as interpreters and drivers, to help them escape from Taliban retribution. Closing the Kabul embassy suddenly would severely hinder that program.
Canadian officials on Friday refused to state if a shutdown of the Canadian embassy in Kabul is imminent.
The U.K. military watched in frustration as Lashkar Gah, capital of Helmand province and focus of the British war effort in Afghanistan for almost 20 years, fell to the Taliban on Friday. Almost all of the U.K.âs 457 casualties in Afghanistan were sustained in Helmand.
âThe political will to see through enduring support to Afghanistan has not been there, and a lot of people are going to die because of that, and for me that is extremely humiliating,â former U.K. defense minister Johnny Mercer, who served in Afghanistan, told the BBC on Thursday.
Canada was comparably disheartened by the fall of Kandahar, where the Canadian combat deployment to Afghanistan was focused.
As with the United States, Afghanistan was Canadaâs longest war; its mission began in 2001 and lasted until 2014. 165 Canadians died during the war, and over 2,000 were wounded. Kandahar fell to the Taliban without resistance on Friday, marking the symbolic restoration of the âIslamic Emirate.â

Trudeau officially triggers the 2021 federal election
https://tnc.news/2021/08/15/trudeau-officially-triggers-the-2021-federal-election/
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has officially asked Governor General Mary Simon to dissolve Parliament and formally launch the 2021 federal election.
Trudeau made the announcement on Sunday, stating that Canadians can expect to head to the polls by September 20.
âI have just had a talk with our Governor General and she has accepted my request to dissolve Parliament. Canadians will therefore vote on September 20th,â Trudeau said at a press conference at Rideau Hall.
âAfter making it through 17 months of nothing like weâve ever experienced, Canadians deserve to choose what the next 17 months and 17 years and beyond will look like.â
While parliament was still in session, Trudeau insisted on several occasions that he was not interested in holding an election during the COVID-19 pandemic and suggested that opposition parties like the Conservatives would force his hand.
âOur priority as a government is going to be helping people get through this pandemic and I hope the different opposition parties will help us ⌠itâs not in our interests to have an election, people want us to work together to help them,â said Trudeau in February.
Additionally, Trudeau stated in a year-end interview with CBCâs Rosemary Barton that he was ânot eager for an electionâ and that winning another mandate was ânot our focus right now.â
In reality, having survived several votes of non-confidence this year, the decision to force Canadians to the poll was the prime ministerâs alone.
Canadians can expect COVID-19 management and the state of Canadaâs finances to be some of the top issues during the 2021 election.
Debates around the path to economic recovery and the Liberal governmentâs recent attacks on free speech like the anti-internet legislations, Bill C-10 and Bill C-36, will also likely rear their head in the next few weeks.
To date, the Liberals have been leading the polls ahead of the Conservatives but some signs point towards voter dissatisfaction with the prime ministerâs performance.
One recent poll by Leger found that Canadians were divided on their approval of Trudeau. In total, 49% of Canadians said that they were either dissatisfied or very dissatisfied with the prime minister, while 46% of Canadians said they were satisfied or very satisfied with him.
