The Jalisco New Generation cartel claimed responsibility for what was happening. The perpetrators are spreading messages on social media that they will continue their attacks until 3 a.m. Sunday and crack down on anyone they meet on the streets during this period.
The situation is heated by the fact that Mexicali, Tecate and Tijuana directly border the United States. As for Ensenada and Rosarito, these are popular local resorts where many American citizens are currently located. Baja California isn't the only state that's been turbulent this week:
