Resister Newswire (T.me) ❗️NEW: North Korea Crypto-Hack Sees US Company Breached
A government-backed group penetrated Colorado-based JumpCloud, an IT management firm, and used it as a springboard to target cryptocurrency clients and steal digital cash, Reuters reports.
The hack was blamed on a “sophisticated nation-state sponsored threat actor” in a JumpCloud blog post, with it still unclear if any digital currency was retrieved by the group.
A probe by Cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike Holding found that "Labyrinth Chollima” - a group with a history of crypto targets - was behind the attack, possibly in a bid to “generate revenue for the regime,” they said.
“North Korea in my opinion is really stepping up their game,” said security researcher Tom Hegel, who works for US firm SentinelOne.
