U.S. SEC subpoenas Overstock, seeks information on 2019 retail forecast
Overstock.com Inc said on Friday it received a subpoena from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in January, seeking information on the company’s 2019 forecast for retail unit and on certain communication with executives and investors.
The online retailer and blockchain tech investor is cooperating with the investigation, it said in a regulatory filing, and continues to provide documents requested in the subpoena.
Overstock did not respond to a request for additional details on the subpoena. “Although we believe that we have fully complied with all relevant laws and regulations, there can be no assurance that the SEC will not commence an enforcement action against us or members of our management, or as to the ultimate resolution of any enforcement action that the SEC may decide to bring,” Overstock said.
Earlier this week, the company posted a surprise quarterly profit and said its revenue soared 84% over the previous year.
Overstock’s shares have received a boost after bitcoin, the world’s most popular cryptocurrency, witnessed increased demand from institutional, corporate and more recently retail investors, attracted by the prospect of quick gains.

So is this the way that all the information that was collected over on DeepCapture gets placed into the record?…officially speaking of course.
Overstock was naked-shorted into the ground.
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced in January that Melissa Hodgman, the wife of disgraced former FBI agent Peter Strzok, was appointed to head the agency’s Division of Enforcement as its acting director.

Buffett is buying back more Berkshire stock this year after record $25 billion repurchase in 2020
As the coronavirus pandemic roiled markets during 2020, Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway bought back a record amount of company stock. And the buying spree has continued into 2021, according to the conglomerate’s annual letter that was released Saturday morning. During the fourth quarter the company bought back around $9 billion of Berkshire shares, bringing the total 2020 repurchase to a record $24.7 billion. “Berkshire has repurchased more shares since year-end and is likely to further reduce its share count in the future,” his annual letter stated.
During the third quarter the conglomerate bought back $9 billion of its own stock, up from $5.1 billion during the second quarter. The figures compare to the $5 billion total the company spent on buybacks in 2019.
Buffett emphasized that the company only engages in share repurchase programs when it believes shares are trading below their intrinsic value.
Sure bro….nevermind it diminishes the total amount of shares available of the float which increase your margins-but it's "under-valued"…
Berkshire’s operating income, which Buffett urges shareholders to concentrate on, came in at $5.02 billion during the fourth quarter, up from $4.42 billion during the same period a year earlier. For the full year, operating earnings dipped 9 percent to $21.922 billion as the pandemic hit Berkshire’s conglomerate of businesses.
The company’s net earnings — which account for Berkshire’s big investments in the public market — jumped 23 percent on a year-over-year basis to $35.835 billion. For the full year, however, net earnings slid 48 percent to $42.521 billion. Berkshire Hathaway’s class A shares hit a new all-time high on Thursday, after bouncing 52 percent from the March 23 low. For the year the stock is up about 5 percent, outperforming the S&P 500′s 2 percent gain.
under-valued……
Even after Berkshire’s record 2020 buyback, the firm still has a sizable cash pile at $138 billion. The figure is down from $145.7 billion at the end of the third quarter.

Military fires ambassador to UN – state TV
Saturday, Feb. 27
10:30 p.m. Myanmar's U.N. Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun has been fired, state television reports, a day after he urged the United Nations to use "any means necessary" to reverse the military coup.
Kyaw Moe Tun had told the U.N. General Assembly he was speaking on behalf of the ousted civilian government of Suu Kyi, the country's de facto leader who's National League for Democracy sweep elections in November.
State television, MRTV, reports he had "betrayed the country and spoken for an unofficial organization which doesn't represent the country and had abused the power and responsibilities of an ambassador."
Kyaw Moe Tun had called on the international community to recognize a small group of elected NLD members who have been acting as a government in exile.
8:20 p.m. Calls for a large-scale Sunday protest have been spreading on social media. Activists are urging unity under the banner of the international "Milk Tea Alliance," a loose coalition of mainly young and tech-savvy democracy advocates in Thailand, Hong Kong and elsewhere. The goal is to spark a second general strike in Myanmar, after the first on Feb. 22, when huge crowds took to the streets and businesses shut their doors.
3:30 p.m. Three domestic news outlets report that a woman was shot and killed in the central town of Monwya. Earlier, a protester in the town said police had fired water cannon as they surrounded a crowd. In Yangon, despite a police presence, people came out to chant and sing, then scatter into side streets as police advanced, firing tear gas, setting off stun grenades and firing guns into the air, witnesses say.
11:30 a.m. With police moving decisively against opponents of military rule, festivallike peaceful protests are no longer taking place in Yangon. The police have cracked down on assemblies in places such as Hledan and Myinigone, central Yangon, where major protests were happening. Since the coup on Feb. 1, 728 people have been arrested, according to Myanmar-based human rights group Assistance Association for Political Prisoners.

China hoards used chipmaking machines to resist US pressure
Chinese semiconductor makers are snapping up used chipmaking machines as they rush to produce homegrown products amid U.S.-Sino trade tensions, driving up equipment prices in Japan's secondary market. Japanese used equipment dealers say prices are up by 20% from last year. Older-generation machines are not restricted by U.S. sanctions on China, giving Chinese players unfettered access.
The stay-at-home trend spurred by the coronavirus pandemic is also a factor. As chip demand rises worldwide, even equipment that is not the most up-to-date is selling at a brisk pace. This, in turn, could prolong the shortage of semiconductors used in automobiles. To gauge market trends, Nikkei interviewed major dealers of used machines, which are sold mostly through individual transactions. "Prices on used machines are rising every year," said a source at a major leasing company. "Over the past year, the prices have gone up 20% on average." Prices on core equipment, such as lithography systems, have risen by a factor of three. A Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing source says prices have gone up tenfold compared with right after the 2008 financial crisis. "Nearly 90% of used machines appear to be headed to China," said a source at Mitsubishi UFJ Lease & Finance.
Beijing is pushing to increase domestic production of semiconductors as the U.S. restricts access to its chipmaking technology by Chinese companies. As U.S. sanctions limit China's access to cutting-edge technologies, Chinese manufacturers are hoarding older-generation equipment. "I've heard that some Chinese makers are just buying up machines even if they don't use them right away," said one market source.
The pandemic is also contributing to the popularity of used machines. Demand is brisk for driver ICs used for TV and PC displays, and power management chips used in connected home appliances. Those chips are made from 200mm wafers using older-generation equipment. Since new chipmaking lines use 300mm wafers, not many companies are producing machines for 200mm wafers. As a result "prices on immediately available used machines are higher than those for brand-new machines," said a source at Hitachi Capital. "Machines that were basically worthless several years ago are now selling for 100 million yen [$940,000]," according to a source at a used equipment dealer. In production lines, 20- to 30-year-old machines are operating. "Machines we bring in are shipped directly to the next plants," said an official at Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing. "They literally disappear instantly." The company decreased storage space for used machines it rents in Taiwan last year.
Some manufacturers of chipmaking machines see the revival of older machines as a business chance. Canon, for example, will release lithography equipment for 200mm wafers for the first time in nine years. But other equipment, such as machines used for etching and cleansing, is necessary to produce semiconductors, leaving manufacturers reliant on older machines.

RAF Retires Sentinel R1 Intelligence Gathering Aircraft With Final Mission To Watch Kaliningrad And Belarus
On Feb. 25, 2021, the RAF Sentinel R1 ZJ694 flew its last sortie before retirement. The touch down of mission RRR7303 (“ASCOT 7303”) at RAF Waddington marked the end of 13 years of RAF service for this airframe.
The final mission of ZJ694 could be entirely tracked online. The aircraft operated in one of the regions that have more frequently been watched by the long-range, wide-area battlefield surveillance platform. In fact, RRR7303 flew towards the Baltic and, operating inside NATO airspace of Poland and Lithuania, carried out surveillance activities off Russia’s Kaliningrad semi-exclave, and then close to Belarus. RAF Sentinels have been frequent visitors of the Baltic airspace, often sparking the reaction of the Russian Su-27 Flankers based in Kaliningrad.
The Sentinel R1 is a long-range, wide-area battlefield surveillance aircraft, delivering critical intelligence and target tracking information to British and coalition forces. It has been operationally deployed in support of operations in Afghanistan, Libya, Mali, and, more recently, Iraq and Syria.
