Indianapolis police say at least 8 dead, 'multiple' injured in shooting at FedEx facility

The shooting has been classified as a "mass casualty" incident, according to police

By Brie Stimson | Fox News

Indianapolis police said at least 8 people were shot and killed at a FedEx facility near the airport Thursday night and 'multiple' others have injuries.

The alleged shooter also died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson Genae Cook said during an early morning news conference.

At least four people were hospitalized, including one person with critical injuries. Two others were treated at the scene and released. No law enforcement officers were injured.

"We have multiple people with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds," police said during a preliminary news conference after 1 a.m. ET, according to local NPR reporter Brock E.W. Turner.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired around 11 p.m. ET and found an active shooter at the scene.

The site is near the Indianapolis International Airport, according to the reports.

Police said they believe there is no active threat to the community anymore.

U.S. Rep André Carson, D-Ill., who represents the district, tweeted his condolences early Friday.

"I am heartbroken by the mass shooting at the FedEx facility here in Indianapolis and praying for all affected by this tragedy," he wrote. "I am communicating with local authorities to get all details of the attack and my office stands ready to help everyone affected any way we can."

Interstate 70 has reopened after being closed in both directions near the scene, Indiana State Police public information officer John Perrine reported on Twitter just before 1 a.m. ET but there's no access to the Ameriplex Parkway.

Parminder Singh told Fox 59 reporter Courtney Crown that his niece called to tell him she had been shot in the shoulder by the suspect while she was in her SUV at a nearby gas station but she’s expected to be OK.

Ian Johnston said his wife works at the FedEx facility and texted him to tell him there was an active shooter at her work. "She’s since notified me that she’s OK," he said. "She said she’ll be stuck in there for a while."

"You never think it might happen, but of course it can," he told FOX 59, adding that he’s "of course" "pleased as punch" to know his wife is OK.

Jeremiah Miller told WISH he was between shifts at FedEx when he heard several shots.

"This made me stand up and actually look out the entrance door, and I saw a man with a submachine gun of some sort, an automatic rifle, and he was firing in the open," he said. "I immediately ducked down and got scared and my friend’s mother, she came in and told us to get inside the car."

The scene was declared a "mass casualty, Level 1," according to WISH-TV in Indianapolis, meaning more emergency responders could head to the scene.

The FBI field office has said it's ready to assist if needed, according to freelance reporter Ethan Biando.

Police have advised anyone concerned about the safety of someone inside the facility to go to the Hilton Garden Inn Indianapolis Airport, WISH reported.

FedEx in a statement said, Safety is our top priority, and our thoughts are with all those who are affected. We are working to gather more information and are cooperating with investigating authorities, according to WTTV-TV.

Drone attack targets Iraqi base that houses US troops

The same base was attacked by rockets in February, leaving a non-American contractor working with U.S. forces dead

By Brie Stimson | Fox News

A drone reportedly dropped explosives at a U.S.-led base near the Erbil airport in Iraq on Wednesday night.

There were no reports of injuries, Reuters reported, citing Kurdish officials.

It was the first known drone attack believed to be targeting U.S. service members but rocket attacks have hit U.S. bases in the country.

A Turkish soldier was reportedly killed in a separate rocket attack Wednesday, Turkish officials said, according to Reuters.

A group thought to be aligned with Iran praised the drone attack but no one has explicitly claimed responsibility for it.

The U.S. has blamed the attacks on Iran-backed militias, which have called for the withdrawal of all foreign troops, according to Reuters.

The EU's Stunning Green Hypocrisy (At Least Trump Was Honest About Targets)

BY TYLER DURDEN - FRIDAY, APR 16, 2021 - 03:30 AM

Authored by Mike Shedlock via MishTalk,

Let's check in on EU's green energy policy and how countries meet green investment targets.

The EU mandates that that 30% of all EU expenditures be allocated to green projects. Eurointelligence discusses the Green Smokescreen and some amusing math as to how those targets are met.

If you took this target seriously, you would have to reform the Common Agricultural Policy. But the EU failed to do precisely that when they had an opportunity last year. Instead, the EU resorts to cheating.

The European Commission classifies investment in terms of 0%, 40% and 100% green content, and rounds up the numbers to the next higher target. So 1% becomes 40%. 41% becomes 100%.

You can always rely on EU leaders to put appearances ahead of content.

Reform of fiscal rules, a capital markets union, and changes in tax rules would produce more environmental investments and employment than a senseless competition for numerical climate change targets.

I also don’t believe this charade will work politically. When the mendacity of the EU’s climate policy becomes apparent, the centre will not only have lost the victims of the economic crisis, but an entire generation of young voters.

This is the thing with smoke and mirrors: when the smoke lifts, you see clearly.

Eurointelligence reports today in "Greenwashed Out" that lobbyists consider the above demands as too strict.

The Commission has been working to update its green finance taxonomy because the most recent set of guidelines, published in 2019, were deemed too strict by some member states and industry lobbyists.

In layman’s terms, projects that are not green will still be labelled green, which defeats the purpose of the entire endeavor.

Nine members of the 57-strong group have threatened to quit over the latest proposal because it would allow companies that are not currently considered green to claim investments, such as highly efficient steel production, and classify them as taxonomy-aligned.

This means that the proposal will maintain a longstanding practice of mislabeling green investments. Under a previous set of guidelines, a system called the Rio markers was used to round up the green content of investments and projects. A project with even a tiny amount of green content would qualify as 40% green, and anything with more than 40% green content was rounded up to 100% green.

Too Strict!?

Clearly there is a need to round 1% up to 49% and 50% up to 120% or whatever.

In addition, let's label steel production as green-aligned.

You may love or hate Trump's approach to green projects but at least he was honest about what he was doing.

Who is Indianapolis FedEx shooter Brandon Hole?

Police responded to Hole's home last year and seized a gun following a mental health incident

By Michael Ruiz | Fox News

Brandon Scott Hole, a 19-year-old Indiana man, is suspected of opening fire at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis Thursday night, killing at least eight people and wounding more.

Law enforcement identified Hole as the shooter during a news conference Friday afternoon.

Indianapolis Deputy Police Chief Craig McCartt said the gunman arrived at the processing center near the Indianapolis airport and opened fire at random in the parking lot before moving inside, where he continued to spray bullets.

"There was no confrontation with anyone that was there," he said. "There was no disturbance, there was no argument. He just appeared to randomly start shooting."

The shooter is believed to have turned the gun on himself before police arrived, McCartt said.

He was also a former FedEx employee at the same facility, according to the parcel company. Most employees there are barred from bringing their cellphones inside, which led to confusion and anxiety as friends and family sought to get in touch with loved ones after news of a mass shooting.

McCartt said during a Friday afternoon news conference that they had responded to Hole’s home last year after reports of a man voicing suicidal ideas, which he repeated to responding officers. He had reportedly just purchased a shotgun, and the police department’s behavioral unit took him into custody and then to a hospital for mental health treatment.

They also confiscated the gun.

Investigators said Friday they were searching a home in the city connected to Hole and had seized evidence including computers and other electronics.

Authorities have not yet revealed a possible motive in the attack.

By early Friday evening, police said the coroner’s office still had not identified all of the victims.

WOW!

After dropping his bike, running and rolling in the grass to avoid being hit.

Only fired 5 shots from what looks like 50 plus feet at a moving target while the officer advances, after being shot at himself.

Suspect down.

Great shooting Officer Burch!
