I would say from now on the term "expert" is questioned and treated with suspicion. "It's a novel corona virus, not seen before." "Experts say must lockdown and 'social distance…"

The appeal to authority is losing its power as businesses and the associated jobs are lost forever.

Real estate super high now, going to have glut of supply when the evictions get going. Tent cities around urban areas.

"Don't worry, keep voting for us and wear your mask and get the jab, we'll make the rich and big corporation pay their 'fair share'"

The Big Three relocate to Mexico, HQ and every plant. UAW left with no jobs but Union Dues still charged. Jim in Detroit: "I want $30 an hour, every holiday paid off, and absenteeism and plain slacking allowed because you have to go through Shop Steward to even think of firing me." Diego in Cuidad de Juarez. "$5 an hour and new safety glasses and I will work so hard it will make you tired just watching me."

También podríamos incluir en esa secuencia de HECHOS que en ABRIL Biden liberó $235 md a los palestinos…y en MAYO sucedió todo lo demás

We could also include in that sequence of events that in April Biden released $ 235 md to the Palestinians … and in May everything else happened

First Ships Dock at Kenya’s New Deepwater Port

By David Herbling (Bloomberg) —

Two A.P. Moller-Maersk A/S vessels made maiden calls at Kenya’s new Indian Ocean port which began operating on Thursday, edging the nation closer to fulfilling its ambition of becoming the main shipping hub on East African’s coast.

The port in Lamu is expected to eventually have 32 berths and offer an alternative gateway to access landlocked Ethiopia and South Sudan. It will supplement the clogged Mombasa port, which lies 340 kilometers (313 miles) to the south.

The $5 billion project is part of a bigger infrastructure plan known as Lapsset that’s being rolled out by Kenya’s government and includes an oil pipeline, roads, rail lines and airports that connect the nation to its northern neighbors.

The port’s first berth is expected to process 400,000 twenty-foot equivalent units in its first year of operation, according to the Lapsset Corridor Development Authority. Establishing the first three berths has cost $480 million, with two of those set to be fully operational by year-end.

Customer Incentives

Transshipment fees will be waived and permissible periods for the removal of transit cargo will be extended in a bid to woo shipping lines and cargo owners to Lamu, according to the Kenya Revenue Authority.

Luring new business to Lamu could prove challenging. Ethiopia has regained use of the Red Sea ports of Assab and Massawa following a rapprochement with Eritrea, while about 90% of its inbound trade already arrives through the Port of Djibouti. South Sudan may however consider using Lamu as an alternative to Port Sudan, the main maritime gateway in neighboring Sudan.

A key concern for potential users will be Lamu’s location. The idyllic resort town lies about 100 kilometers from the Somalia border and has come under multiple attacks from al-Shabaab — an al-Qaeda-backed group of insurgents.

Last month, Kenya began constructing a 257 kilometer highway linking Lamu to the town of Garissa, part of a road network that will extend to the border with Ethiopia and South Sudan. The road will traverse sparsely populated Kenyan territory that’s particularly vulnerable to attacks from the Somalia-based militant group.

Kenya lauds Belt and Road Initiative as best model for growth of Africa

By

Yvonne Rarieya -

May 16, 2017

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta said on Monday that the Belt and Road Initiative is the best model for Africa’s desired progress, Xinhua reports.

Kenyatta told a round-table summit of global leaders in Beijing that the continent is poised to regain some of the missed opportunities of globalization by playing an active role in the China-proposed initiative for an interconnected world.

“The Belt and Road Initiative gives our continent the opportunity to make a paradigm shift. Post-colonial Africa has been stuck in a rut,” Kenyatta said in a statement issued by the Kenyan Presidency in Nairobi.

“Being part of One Belt allows the continent to move to a new platform, through which global collaboration will allow for value-addition, innovation and increased prosperity,” reads the statement.

The Kenyan leader, who has been in Beijing for the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, said that the Silk Road initiative fits well into the African Union agenda to create more infrastructure links within the continent.

He added that the continent must move from being a mere consumer of imports of finished goods to become an exporter itself.

Kenyatta said China has been a true friend of Kenya and has supported the efforts to transform his country, noting that the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway shows the tremendous potential for mutually beneficial strategic cooperation between Kenya and China.

The President also said that Joining the Belt and Road Initiative will open up trade and investment opportunities while also reigniting Africa’s own plan for regional and continental integration.

“It will be a win-win situation when our people have the skills, assets and financing necessary to participate in the development of the infrastructure corridors that will enhance connectivity, support trade and reduce the cost of doing business between our countries,” Xinhua quotes Kenyatta say

Uhuru further said, “We will all win when the economic corridors we develop hasten industrialization; and when they hasten the development of domestic private-sector capabilities.”

In his keynote speech at the forum, President Xi Jinping said China will provide relevant international organizations with 1 billion U.S. dollars to implement cooperation projects that will benefit the countries on the Belt and Road.

Kenyatta, who also inked various agreements with China during his visit, said that the Belt and Road Initiative will secure good jobs and protect Kenyans from the burden of imprudent debt.

He lauded China for the role it is playing in improving the infrastructure connectivity in East Africa, saying infrastructure brings prosperity and African governments are working hard to strengthen connectivity on the continent.

“Roads, electricity, telecommunication and water empower our people, and bring prosperity and freedom. China has learned this lesson well and so has Africa,” he said.

29 heads of state and government and delegates from 130 countries attended the Belt and Road Forum held in Beijing on May 14-15
