Beirut 2020 BLAST: Chemicals involved just a FRACTION of original shipment – FBI probe (Report)
An FBI report from October 2020, seen by Reuters this week, estimates that 552 tonnes of ammonium nitrate exploded on August 4th last year – approximately ONE FIFTH the amount (2,754 tonnes) that arrived on a Russian-leased cargo ship some 7 years before in Beirut.
The findings add to the suspicion that much of the cargo has gone MISSING. With the anniversary of the explosion approaching many questions remain unanswered – including how such a huge quantity of ammonium nitrate was left unsafely stored in a capital city for years.
An FBI spox referred Reuters to the Lebanese authorities when pressed for a detailed response.
