as a software engineer, yeah, they might have to rewrite a lot of code. could take weeks or months, depending on how much they want to fix. but from what I understand it was just a very old codebase and might require significant rewrites.
plus they probably aren't as organized as a regular tech company so reviewing and merging all of the code could be even slower.
