Anons, it is time to have a serious debate about the consequences of the hacking:

  1. The fact that 4chan servers were alegedly hacked by a regular visitor of soyjak party tells us, that the hacking was so easy to achieve that a literal 10yo mentally disabled script kiddie was able to execute it.

  2. This is further confirmed by the rumors that 4chan was running on incredibly old versions of PHP and other software.

  3. This suggests that multiple entities probably had access into the servers for a long time, but nobody was stupid enough to take the whole site down and brag about it on the internet as if it were a genius haxxor move.

  4. I would be surprised if one of the entities was not one of the american government agencies. If we consider the reputation 4chan has in the mainstream media and the way american law enforcement works, it would make much sense.

  5. This somewhat confirms the schizo theories about 4chan being a honeypot (even though not willingly) an we all are for sure on some kind of a police list to be monitored more closely than average internet user. (So we all shall be aware of that.)

  6. This also suggest that the hacker probably is very dumb and possibly left some clues of their identity in the leaked files. This shall be further inspected.

  7. 4chan refugees on soyjak party technology bord are already experimenting with running the leaked source code locally and tweaking it. This could open interesting new possibilities of better version of 4chan not ruled by jannies and /pol shitposters. Discussions about the workings of a new 4chan utopia shall be opened.

> Hope the source code is opened up and there are DOZENS of alternative chans everywhere that cannot be stopped or wiped out!

There is already a lot of OSS image board projects and many alternative chans exist with smaller userbases. The oportunity here is in my opinion to create a new 4chan replacement/successor which would be managed better and would have the large userbase migrated from OG 4chan. It is not a question of the code itself, but more of analyzing and solving for example the moderation problems of 4chan. It was objectively getting worse year after year, so lets come up with solutions to its problems instead of gatekeeping and shitting on it.

> Based hackers!

The hackers are sadly far from based. It would be based if they would for example catch the NSA on the 4chan servers.
