Similar missile technology now exists too, Russia proof tested their new Mach 10 Oreshnik missile system in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine last year. There were no explosive charges for the warheads, it was merely super fast and the kinetic energy was so destructive it completely destroyed and reduced a weapons procurement facility into dust, down to three stories underground creating a massive crater. Ukraine and the US worked very hard to keep it quite and distract attention from it, even downplaying it over social media hours after.

The Russians are still working to mass produce these new Oreshnik missile systems since proving it's effectiveness. BOTTOM LINE: Yes, this type of hypersonic weaponry exists and has for some time. It's not only the US working to perfect this type of weaponry. Any new world war risks the use of this deadly technology.
