lol, no. What we’ve had is a theoretical weapon akin to radioactive dirty bombs. They’re an idea, not a rumor.
An underground explosion is exactly the opposite of what these would produce. It’s like saying a AS2 artillery shell managed to cause an underground explosion. It’s complete nonsense. They explode on the surface of the ground, release a fuckton of kinetic energy (exactly like a traditional artillery shell).

Fucking stupid. They would create an enormous trail of heat in the atmosphere, leaving a giant tail behind them that you oils see with the naked eye. And they also move incredibly slowly when they “launch” while in orbit and could absolutely be traced. They can trace space debris the size of a basketball; I don’t think a god damn telephone pole would be a problem.
The big fear or advantage to them is they move so quickly that there’s no deterrent. By the time they’ve entered the atmosphere it’s too late to do anything. Hypersonic missiles are going Mach 5 (3,800mph), but these would be going Mach 10 (7,600mph).
