There is a high probability Alberta will go independent and becoming either an Unincorporated US Territory or ultimately a US State is the most logical course of action.
.Alberta has a potentially very short path to independence via the same mechanism that Donetsk and Luhansk used.
Step 1: Albertans make a clear assertion of their desire for independence via referendum.
Step 2: USA recognized Alberta as an independent territory and gives Alberta Unincorporated US Territory status, which includes offering US Citizenship to Alberta residents, allowing free trade with Alberta, the use of the US dollar as a currency and providing security assistance to secure Alberta's borders.
See Donetsk and Luhansk which were formerly part of Ukraine, and are now independent territories under the protection of Russia

>From April 2014 until September 2022, the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) claimed to be independent states. Their sovereignty was recognized by South Ossetian authorities in 2014, Russia and Abkhazian authorities in February 2022, Syria in June 2022 and North Korea in July 2022.
