You are looking at output and equivalents, not what it takes to set off an earthquake. It would be very hard to determine what would set off an earthquake because of the many variables involved. It would be unique to each location, distance to fault lines, depth, and about a million other things.

I'm interested in how they arrived at the number they did. Did they look at number of cases brought under a certain statute? That would be easy to pull from a database query, but it may miss other statutes that prosecutors may choose to prosecute.

I'm thinking of a perp who gets picked up for a number of things and the kiddie diddling may not be the strongest case to prosecute so the prosecutors get the perp on attempted murder, or whatever else they can bring. Maybe drug charges with intent to distribute so they know dude will go away for a long time.

This just seems like a quick SQL query with a specific statute in mind rather then piecing together how many defendants were brought in on pedo and trafficking related charges, how many were put away, and what were tehy ultimately charged with. IMO the number should be how many were brought in, prosecuted, and ended up behind bars. NOT how many were brought in and prosecuted under a specific statute.
