I figure they are some "get Trump" hitsquad, and exposing them as just that would be great. Prove to the sheeple that it's not "Orange Man BAD" but "Orange Man made us BIG MAD."
That way later when whatever Agency these investigators come from is to be dissolved they are known to be a politically motivated goon squad and nobody will miss them.
