Employment Report-(the ubiquitous 'revisions down' to prior)-Above expectations

(muh comments)

The headline jobs number in the June employment report was above expectations, however employment for the previous two months was revised down by 74,000. The participation rate and the employment-population ratio both decreased slightly, and the unemployment rate was unchanged at 3.6%. Excluding leisure and hospitality, the economy has 800 thousand more jobs then prior to the pandemic.

Leisure and hospitality gained 67 thousand jobs in June. At the beginning of the pandemic, in March and April of 2020, leisure and hospitality lost 8.20 million jobs, and are now down 1.32 million jobs since February 2020. So, leisure and hospitality has now added back about 84% all of the jobs lost in March and April 2020.

Construction employment increased 13 thousand and is now 46 thousand above the pre-pandemic level. Manufacturing added 29 thousand jobs and is now 12 thousand above the pre-pandemic level. Earlier: June Employment Report: 372 thousand Jobs, 3.6% Unemployment Rate. In June, the year-over-year employment change was 6.3 million jobs.

Cap#1 shows permanent job losers as a percent of the pre-recession peak in employment through the report today. This data is only available back to 1994, so there is only data for three recessions. In June, the number of permanent job losers declined to 1.273 million from 1.386 million in the previous month.

These jobs were likely the hardest to recover, so it is a positive that there are fewer permanent job losers now than prior to the recession.(remember this commentary/author is based on official #s so this is going on what they see and is presented-he noes his stuff and sometimes it can be misconstrued(and he kinda joins in at times too) that they are 'cheerleading' but it is based on what they have to work with-they are a Dem supporter but I've noticed that they have taken down any reference to that in the last few months and have laid off the politicizing-they were certainly doing that last year and during the election season of 2020-CR has always been a good #s place despite the rare times the presentation is skewed-his housing #s work is unmatched and was in the run up to the call of the 2007 housing market peak-imo)*

The headline monthly jobs number was above expectations; however, the previous two months were revised down by 74,000 combined.

The headline unemployment rate was unchanged at 3.6%.

Look at these highlights:

• U-6 is below pre-recession levels, and the lowest level on record (started in 1994).

• There are now fewer permanent job losers than prior to the recession.

• There are fewer part time workers, for economic reasons, than prior to the recession.

(I'm not even gonna go "here" he getting starry eyed as he doesn't pick this apart.)

Part Time for Economic Reasons is a perfect example of the not really looking at this with unbiased eyes but it's there if you want to take a look a the link.

However, there are still 524 thousand fewer jobs than prior to the recession. Overall, this was another strong report. (and it certainly APPEARS that way but you have to also understand that these are nothing moar than rolling averages of the last 10 years-as I've said before it the last 10 years :show" that 10k manufacturing jobs were "created" then they were 'created and added' to current report-that is how that works from the Bureau of Lying Shitheads (BLS)-the methodology of these reports are gathered were changed A LOT during the Clinton admin as well as another revision how the inflation #s are calculated-which we will get for June next week-pretty sure that will show an increase but since they are working on gas prices now (trying to) because that is included while the raw material, Oil,is not.)

https://www.calculatedriskblog.com/2022/07/comments-on-june-employment-report.html

*Again this is based on the official #s and I wish he would pick this apart with a different set of eyes (like the way that shadowstats has for a LONG time)

https://www.shadowstats.com/

I've left out the politicizing aspects of this as he kinda stats to go back there but look at it from his perspective-as mentioned this is what he and everyone else has to work with-there is not official reports that use the old methodologies any longer-why sites like shadowstats are important to see past the "noise"

and of course the markets 'celebrate' as teh mornings drop was quickly erased-it is friday afterall and will look for the NYFRB to have done another currency swap this week with the BOE or ECB and possibly the BOJ because of the dollar skying and then reported after markets close for the week-they have done that for a few weeks now-starting the week of memorial day.

U.S. Weekly FundFlows Insight Report: Government-Treasury ETFs Break 4-Week Moving Average Record plus what the NYFRB "do" when the VIX or "fear index" gets too high

Money market funds (+$20.41) logged the only weekly inflows, their first weekly inflow in four.

The 10-two Treasury yield spread fell over the week to negative 0.05, signaling an inverted yield curve, which typically acts as a leading indicator for a recessionary period. In the current market environment, it would appear that equity market participants react positively to hard rhetoric by the Fed to attack inflation.

(this is just a smoke-screen as the Treasury markets are being manipulated HARD through the Securities Lending Ops at the NYFRB all 10yr/30 yr and 2y/5y the largest chunks in the last several weeks)

https://www.newyorkfed.org/markets/desk-operations/securities-lending

(Will have a break down of that later-to end the week they will keep this dropping (yields rising) so that they can raise rates until Sept...pause and then sky the markets just as we go into Sept.)

During Refinitiv Lipper’s fund-flows week ended July 6, 2022, investors were overall net purchasers of fund assets (including both conventional funds and ETFs) for the first week in four, adding a net $12.1 billion. Money market funds (+$20.41) logged the only weekly inflows, their first weekly inflow in four. Equity funds (-$7.9 billion), tax-exempt bond funds (-$313 million), and taxable bond funds (-$111 million) all suffered outflows. Excluding money market funds, equity and fixed income funds have seen five straight weeks of outflows.

(Money is 'leaving'the markets-or the appearance of it-and 'going into the "safety of" debt bomb notesas really all it takes is "cleeck" of the mouse via the Exchange Stabilization Fund-that Janet at US Treasury runs.) At the close of Refinitiv Lipper’s fund-flows week, U.S. broad-based equity indices traded positive for the second week straight—Nasdaq (+1.65%), S&P 500 (+0.69%), Russell 2000 (+0.48%), and DJIA (+0.03%). This was the Nasdaq’s best performing week since the last fund-flows week in May. Fixed income indices traded positive for the third consecutive week with the Bloomberg Municipal Bond Total Return Index and the Bloomberg U.S. Aggregate Bond Total Return Index rising 1.41% and 0.77%, respectively. Overseas broad market indices posted sub-zero performance after trading mixed last week—Dax 30 (-5.77%), FTSE 100 (-4.50%), Nikkei 225 (-1.76%), and Shanghai Composite (-0.28%). The Dax 30 has depreciated in four straight fund-flow weeks. The 10-two Treasury yield spread fell over the week to negative 0.05, signaling an inverted yield curve which typically acts as a leading indicator for a recessionary period. As of Thursday, July 6, investors will receive greater compensation for investing in the two-year Treasury note (2.96%) than the 10-year (2.91%). According to Freddie Mac, the 30-year fixed-rate average (FRM) decreased by its largest weekly margin since December 2008—from 5.70% to 5.30%. This is the second week in a row where the 30-year FRM reported a decrease. The United States Dollar Index (DXY, +1.89 %) appreciated as the VIX (-5.27%) decreased over the course of the week.

The VIX is a 'volatility' index-Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) -see below-that the FRB-via a trading desk in New York (NYFRB and the recently established one in Chicago, earlier this year) totally manages to give off the impression of stability when they want to and "chaos" when they want that-you'll notice that it never stays elevated for very long-never has..it's always quickly brought back down.)

Four fund-flows week kicked off Thursday, June 30, with U.S. broad-based equity markets falling for the fourth straight day—Nasdaq (-1.33%), S&P 500 (-0.88%), DJIA (-0.82%), and Russell 2000 (-0.66%). The final trading day of the month marked the worst-performing start to a calendar year on record for the Nasdaq, and the worst since 1970 for the S&P 500—for more on quarterly equity fund performance: Equity Funds Suffer Largest Quarterly Decline in Two Years. The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis posted its Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) May report showing that prices increased by 0.6%, an acceleration from April’s 0.2% increase. The 12-month PCE figure came in at 6.3%. The Federal Reserve’s preferred gauge of inflation, core-PCE (excluding energy and food), was only up 4.7% from last year, decelerating from April’s 4.9% annual increase. Crude oil prices fell almost 4.0% as WTI crude ended below $106 per barrel. The price of crude oil has increased 45% in the first half of the year.

VIX-Cboe Volatility Index (VIX)

The Cboe Volatility Index (VIX) is a real-time index that represents the market’s expectations for the relative strength of near-term price changes of the S&P 500 Index (SPX). Because it is derived from the prices of SPX index options with near-term expiration dates, it generates a 30-day forward projection of volatility. Volatility, or how fast prices change, is often seen as a way to gauge market sentiment, and in particular the degree of fear among market participants. The index is more commonly known by its ticker symbol and is often referred to simply as “the VIX.” It was created by the Cboe Options Exchange (Cboe) and is maintained by Cboe Global Markets. It is an important index in the world of trading and investment because it provides a quantifiable measure of market risk and investors’ sentiments.

Abe shooting suspect's motive related to 'specific organization', police say

edited for information widely known by now-but small recap to start

Police had confirmed that the gun used in the shooting was handmade, and that the length of the weapon was about 40 cm. The Nara police obtained several other objects that are thought to be handmade guns when they investigated the suspect's residence.

Yamagami learned about Abe's whereabouts on a website showing the former Japanese prime minister's schedule for campaign speeches, according to the police. The suspect also told them that the motive did not come from a grudge against Abe's political beliefs, police said. Sources close to the investigation said Yamagami had served in the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force for three years under a fixed-term assignment. According to Japan's Ministry of Defense, such SDF service members are trained on the structure of firearms and how to disassemble and reassemble them. They also receive training in rifle shooting and firearm safety.

Yamagami started to work for a manufacturing company in the Kansai area of western Japan in autumn 2020, according to a staffing company source in Osaka Prefecture. There were no reports of problems involving him at his workplace, but Yamagami quit in May after asking for a leave in April saying things were "rough." "He was rather quiet and didn't seem to be aggressive," a person connected with his workplace said. "I never felt that he had any political beliefs." Yamagami allegedly told police he took a train to the site of Abe's speech. When searching the suspect's residence, police mobilized a bomb disposal truck. Investigators wore bulletproof-vests and held shields and fire extinguishers upon entering the apartment.

Police confiscated a personal computer and books, along with the handgun-like objects. A man in his 60s who lives in the same apartment building said there had been no recent trouble among residents. The Nara branch of Japan's Liberal Democratic Party said there were no threats made regarding the attack.

Novavax, Moderna, BioNTech Surge To 3-Month High As Omicron Boosters Loom

Covid vaccine stocks Novavax (NVAX), Moderna (MRNA) and BioNTech (BNTX) surged to a three-month high Friday on growing enthusiasm for an omicron booster campaign in the fall.

The Food and Drug Administration recently asked vaccine makers to tailor their next boosters for the new dominant sub-variants, dubbed B.A.4 and B.A.5. Both are offshoots of the omicron strain. They are more contagious than the first members of the omicron family, according to Yale Medicine.

Companies are aiming to launch their next boosters by October. These will be bivalent vaccines capable of targeting the B.A.4 and B.A.5 sub-variants as well as the ancestral Covid strain. Previously, vaccine makers tested boosters that aim for B.A.1. But as of late June, that sub-variant accounted for no cases in the U.S., the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says.

So you see why (((They))) need to get this recession identified, acknowledged and moar importantly OVER-by the time September comes around...see below for the latest TODAY'S GDP 'adjustment'.

Consumer Credit Hits A Brick Wall With Credit Cards Maxed Out and GDP revised 'upwards' to -1.2%

Last month, when we reported that the latest (April) consumer credit numbers were an absolute shocker, with another month of blowout revolving (credit card) debt confirming that US consumers had tapped out, and were spending themselves silly with money they don't have, we said that the hangover was going to be brutal and painful. Well, fast forward one month to the Fed's latest, just released consumer credit data (for the month of May) which confirmed that as expected, US consumers had maxed out their credit cards and the hangover had started.

Starting at the top, total consumer credit rose just $22.3 billion, the lowest monthly total since January, and a sharp drop from both April's $36.8 billion and March's record $47.5 billion. The drop was driven entirely by a sharp slowdown in revolving debt (i.e., credit card usage) which rose by just $7.4 billion, the lowest since last August, and nearly 75% below March's record $25.9 billion. Meanwhile, non-revolving credit, which is far more stable as it funds less discretionary items such as cars and college education, rose by $14.9 billion, below April's $18.8 billion, if in line with the average monthly increase of 2021. Bottom line: the sharp drop in credit card growth (if not yet decline) is precisely why Q2 GDP is on pace for a big slowdown. But what's worse is that once the mass layoffs kick in in addition to the soaring inflation, at a time when most marginal credit cards are maxed out, the pain across US consumers will be unbearable, as it will come just as most households are tapped out and no longer have dry powder on their credit card for discretionary purchases.

In short, the recession which unofficially started in Q1 and worsened in Q2, is about to get much worse in Q3 when the key support pillar of the US economy, consumer spending which accounts for 70% of GDP, goes into reverse now that maxed out credit cards have to finally be repaid.

https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/consumer-credit-hits-brick-wall-credit-cards-maxed-out

This right around time that Gavin's stimmy checks (CA) will be sent out so that they hit right around the time that all the banks go OH FUQQ we're gonna have an ass-ton of charge-offs and why you will also see them setting aside records amounts of loan-loss provisions to makeup for this unsecured (key point) debt bomb to start going off on their balance sheets.

This is also why KANGZZZ Bostic (Atlanta Fed President) took down his GDP estimate by almost 3% in a week...from 0.09% growth to -1% and then on the very DAY of the FOMC meeting to a - 2.1% target...This will be the indicator that they want it over and he will be the "good cop" for them as he is already the "bad cop" by having a non-voting member do that (adjust his GDP figures) to -2.1%

But HOLD on there as he has ALREADY made ANOTHER adjustment TODAY to reflect this: Latest estimate: -1.2 percent — July 8, 2022

A Russian plane landed at Basel Euroairport yesterday evening. The Ilyushin 96 is often used by President Putin (and Sergey Lavrov-you left that part out)

To get around an EU ban on Russian aircraft it had to fly a long detour, skirting north Africa before heading north – an extra 5,000 km. It was then given special permission to overfly France and Switzerland to land at Basel.

The Federal Office for Civil Aviation says the reason of the flight was to move embassy staff.

Twitter vows legal fight after Musk pulls out of $44 billion deal

Elon Musk, the chief executive officer of Tesla (TSLA.O) and the world's richest person, said on Friday he was terminating his $44 billion deal to buy Twitter (TWTR.N) because the social media company had breached multiple provisions of the merger agreement. Twitter's chairman, Bret Taylor, said on the micro-blogging platform that the board planned to pursue legal action to enforce the merger agreement. "The Twitter Board is committed to closing the transaction on the price and terms agreed upon with Mr. Musk...," he wrote.

In a filing, Musk's lawyers said Twitter had failed or refused to respond to multiple requests for information on fake or spam accounts on the platform, which is fundamental to the company's business performance. "Twitter is in material breach of multiple provisions of that Agreement, appears to have made false and misleading representations upon which Mr. Musk relied when entering into the Merger Agreement," the filing said. Musk also said he was walking away because Twitter fired high-ranking executives and one-third of the talent acquisition team, breaching Twitter's obligation to "preserve substantially intact the material components of its current business organization." (This can be easily proven an attempt at sabotage and way easier than the bot thing...WAY easier so he should be up their ass' on this angle-unless he has the proof of the 'bot claims)

Musk's decision is likely to result in a protracted legal tussle between the billionaire and the 16-year-old San Francisco-based company. Disputed mergers and acquisitions that land in Delaware courts more often than not end up with the companies re-negotiating deals or the acquirer paying the target a settlement to walk away, rather than a judge ordering that a transaction be completed. That is because target companies are often keen to resolve the uncertainty around their future and move on. Twitter, however, is hoping that court proceedings will start in a few weeks and be resolved in a few months, according to a person familiar with the matter. There is plenty of precedent for a deal renegotiation. Several companies repriced agreed acquisitions when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in 2020 and delivered a global economic shock. In one instance, French retailer LVMH (LVMH.PA) threatened to walk away from a deal with Tiffany & Co. The U.S. jewelry retailer agreed to lower the acquisition price by $425 million to $15.8 billion.

"I'd say Twitter is well-positioned legally to argue that it provided him with all the necessary information and this is a pretext to looking for any excuse to get out of the deal," said Ann Lipton, associate dean for faculty research at Tulane Law School.

(wrong academic MORAN...and really tits or GTFO! complete idiot to ignore what has transpired with this- they won't provide a forensic look at it's account account activities, fought with him from the start to drive the price up-dis ishis faultimo for not going straight to the BoD seat and doing it from that angle-so he basically chased this entire deal with the upped offer and if on the BoD he could have had access to the shit they are hiding-it certainly would have been easier so this entire exercise is/was just exposing the bot issues to the wider public-he doesn't want it and never did-mentioned several times that he did not do the share purchase and accept the BoD seat at the start of this-so what did he really want..expose dis)

Shares of Twitter were down 6% at $34.58 in extended trading. That is 36% below the $54.20 per share Musk agreed to buy Twitter for in April. (Oh you ijits FINALLY noticed that his been getting larger and larger) Twitter's shares surged after Musk took a stake in the company in early April, shielding it from a deep stock market sell-off that slammed other social media platforms. But after he agreed on April 25 to buy Twitter, the stock within a matter of days began to fall as investors speculated Musk might walk away from the deal. With its tumble after the bell on Friday, Twitter was trading at its lowest since March.

(it sat here at $36.97 >>142075 for a quite a long time and you could see that there a fight going on right at that point becasue on the price of $36.97 the premium was that indicated $17.23 it would go up by 0.01 then right back and then down by a few pennies then right back to $36.97)

The announcement is another twist in a will-he-won't-he saga after Musk clinched the deal to purchase Twitter in April but then put the buyout on hold until the social media company proved that spam bots account for less than 5% of its total users. The contract calls for Musk to pay Twitter a $1 billion break-up if he cannot complete the deal for reasons such as the acquisition financing falling through or regulators blocking the deal. The break-up fee would not be applicable, however, if Musk terminates the deal on his own.

(That makes a BIG difference..I always thought he was locked into this no matter unless he could prove the adverse material effect-he can do that easily by the Twatter firings as that is an EASY argument to make-not even sold and your BoD approves a 30% head-count drop?...they should have just waited but..how many times do you need to hear it "these people are stupid.) Musk's abandonment of the deal and Twitter's promise to vigorously fight to complete it casts a pall of uncertainty over the company's future and its stock price during a time when worries about rising interest rates and a potential recession have hammered Wall Street. Shares of online advertising rivals Alphabet (GOOGL.O), Meta Platforms (META.O), Snap (SNAP.N) and Pinterest (PINS.N) have seen their stocks tumble 45% on average in 2022, while Twitter's stock has declined just 15% in that time, buoyed in recent months by the Musk deal.(I bet those shorts that covered yesterday wish they hadn't) Daniel Ives, an analyst at Wedbush, said Musk's filing was bad news for Twitter. "This is a disaster scenario for Twitter and its Board as now the company will battle Musk in an elongated court battle to recoup the deal and/or the breakup fee of $1 billion at a minimum," he wrote in a note to clients.

(Wedbush is serial offender of pay-for-play 'analysis and research' and naked shorter imo)

Not wrong and moar right than the academic from Tulane above-that one....you get paid to ignore obvious shit like that?

It surely looks like it's not hidden that well.

But this is also benefit as hindsight but it's not muh job to notice that..

They don't really have a Secret Service like ours any longer (and what they had before was certainly comparable to the Gestapo-see below) it's just a unit of the Tokyo Police called SP or Special Police and they are not set up to deal with stuff like ours or other countries are-mostly deal with physical threats like assaults-and this is why other Foreign Leaders have to bring even moar personnel since the SP are moar or less regular Police with some fighting skills and hand-to-hand combat training...so they certainly aren't ninjas like everyone thinks-don't even carry guns.

The guy tackling the shooter has a holster but there is no gun in it.

But there is literally no gun violence in Japan-10 incidents last year and one fatality.

The whole security apparatus for them is about to get a serious overhaul and I hope is doesn't turn out like what they had in the past. This is an opp for the Gov't to force through some changes-some would be good-like allowing a specialized force to protect them and let them carry weapons since there would have NEVER been a second shot that is for sure.

It used to be called Kempeitai-and it was just as controlled as ours is-which is why 45 had the Marines do it for him.

The origins are not unlike ours and even connected to the still warring Dragon families.

Just like the comp'd parts of our Secret Service here, Kempeitai (their old version) and it's birthplace is from Imperial Japanese Army so same type of evolution of ours. It translates as Military Police Corps

WW2 Japanese Secret Intelligence

The Kempeitai, translated as Military Police Corps, served as the military police of the Japanese Army from 1881 –1945. It draws parallels with Nazi Germany’s Gestapo, in that it was a secret police force rather than overt operation. The Kempeitai was not restricted to the army, but also worked for the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN). However, the IJN had its own, similar force: the Tokkeitai (contraction of Tokubetsu Keisatsutai), "Special Police Corps"; the Naval Secret Police. Those who were part of the Kempeitai were caked a “kempei”, meaning “military police”.

The Kempeitai formed in 1881 under the decree “Kempei Ordinance”, which was modelled on the Gendarmerie of France. Their code of conduct was known as the “Kempei Rei” in 1898—“rei” roughly meaning “example”. This code was to be amended 26 times by Japan’s defeat in 1945. 349 men made up the initial force, and they enforced the new conscription legislation—bringing in men from peasant families who had resisted the call to arms. In 1907, the Kempeitai was ordered to Korea, with their purview being preserving the peace of the Japanese Army. They still, however, operated in Japan. At this time, the “Tokko” (civilian secret police) was also functioning, of which the Kempeitai had a branch within their organization. Naturally, a secret operation had to use cover locations to hide their presence and subsequent activities. In Tijuana, Mexico, this took the form of the Molino Rojo (Red Mill), which was a brothel and was used as a meeting place. This HQ was situated in the infamous Zona Norte, a red-light district, the largest in North America. The Molino Rojo was around 15 miles from the U.S. Navy's San Diego Destroyer Base and the North Island Naval Air Station. While operating in Mexico, an Imperial Navy Lieutenant Commander and subversive agent—a former exchange student at America’s Stanford University—lured an ex-U.S. Navy yeoman, via monthly payments, to be an American spy. The man was hired to obtain intelligence from the crews. Underground Actions

Japan also secretly allied themselves with societies in their country that had ultra-nationalist agendas. These included Genyosha (Dark Ocean Society), Kokuryu-kai (Amur River Society or Black Dragon Society), and organized criminal enterprises such as Yakuza crime syndicates. The Dark Ocean founder Mitsuru Toyama had links to the Kempeitai, and the latter relied on these groups for manpower. The Black Dragons were active along the Pacific Coast of North and South America. Many of its members had a legitimate career in politics and several were members of the Kempeitai.

Spain was neutral during World War II. (BZZZZZT WRONG but hey that's what they said..so is Switzerland and why I view Japan in the same way becasue of who controls them-but they are always trying to be neutral in a similar way to the Swiss and why I see them almost the same-controlling Asias money like the Swiss do Europe/London and the West ) Here, spies working under the guise of Japanese ambassadors could control worldwide spy rings and coordinate the exchange of intelligence with other Axis Forces. This was achievable through Germany's Abwehr general staff intelligence agency and Italy's Military Secret Service. Like Spain, Portugal’s neutrality (Yeah another NOT but always passed off as) was an integral point of informational exchange. Germany even went so far to allow the Japanese ambassador outrank the Japanese diplomat in Madrid and Lisbon, because the majority of information was funneled through Japan’s Embassy.

The Japanese Ambassador was close friends with the chief of Germany’s secret service. There were also diplomats in Afghanistan that spied on the Soviet Union, Iran and India, which fed information into the Japanese Madrid center. This network even extended to Great Britain and America. Early in the war, the Japanese ambassador in Spain established a spy ring in the U.S., with the help of Spanish operatives. The brutality of the Kempeitai became notorious in Korea and other occupied territories. This extended to the homeland as well; the Japanese people held no love for the police force, especially because they were used to ensure that the public was loyal to the war. In total, the United States Army estimated that there were over 36,000 regular members of the Kempeitai by the end of the war. This number was attributed to the fact that Japan’s occupation of a number of overseas territories meant they needed locals to act as part of their force. During wartime, the Kempeitai had a number of responsibilities including travel permits, labor recruitment, counterintelligence and counter-propaganda. The latter was run by the “Tokko- Kempeitai, classed as “anti-ideological work”. Additionally, the Kempeitai handled Supply requisitioning and rationing, psychological operations and propaganda, and rear area security. Even towards the end World War II, they still arrested people for antiwar sentiment and defeatism.

so here's muh story on dis one

Cap on the notables list is the original version of this car

Little bit on that one 962-the car it's based on the 956 had it's drivers feet in front of and hanging over the front axle and the American sanctioning body for Spostcar racing IMSA aka as International Marijuana Smuggling Association..really it was International Motorpsorts Association would not allow that car-the 956 to race in America because of that. There were several accidents where the 956 just folded up over the driver inside and a few deaths actually. A driver by the name of Stefan Bellof was killed in one of the 956s in an accident at Spa Circuit in Belgium at the fastest part of the track-he tried to pass in a place where is was impossible to do it-he was basically going to be Michael Schumacher as he was already starting to be really fast, smart an reliable in F1-but kiled way too early-he actually held the lap record at the Nuburgirng for decades until Porsche built a rocket ship with no rules specifically for breaking that record a few years ago So they made that version the 962 for the American series so that they could run it here. All they did was extend the front so the drivers feet were not in front of the front axle-it's all an aluminum tub so not really "safer" but times were different then. Tye also did not allow twin-turbos so they just stuck the biggest one they could find on it and problem solved-it had BIG lag though and they eventually tuned that out of it It then went on to become the most successful sportscar ever and versions on this original design in 1982 the 956 were still racing in the late 90's. They even outlawed it int the early 90's so someone made one into a street car and the reversed it back out to be a racer-there was a loophole in the rules that allowed a street car Cap3 (yes that started as a"street car" and they quickly changed the rules to race if it had a luggage compartment and few other things. I never got to drive one but got a ride on the one in cap #2 but ain't saying what year that happened as too easy to pin that down-it wasn't too old at the time but not a historic racer either. It was still running but not winning-quite a ride I'll never forget

Porsche ran it at Daytona is the practice sessions and had Mario Andretti and his son Michale (mario GREAT guy..son..asshoe entitled completely) race it but the organizers knew that the Porsche team was sandbagging (purposefully going slow to not show it's true speed) so they dropped the amount of turbo boost they allowed for it and it was not as fast. It raced but broke as it was not fully sorted. He got his chance to race it at LeMans a few years later but it broke and I think lost a cylinder so it had to race on 5 and was really his last chance to win there- he would have been the only driver to win a Daytona 500, Indy 500, F1 World Champion and LeMans had he won-he tried up until 2000 and should have won it (not in 2000 but a few times in the 70s and 80s but racing is cruel that way-he should have had at least 3-4 Iny 500 wins too.

His actually scared himself in 20000 and that is when he quit trying to win Lemans-he tried to get in one of the all-conquering Audis at the time but did not have the pace of the other drivers so they said no-he went off at night and the rumor was that he "wet" himself in the process cause he got close to going to the big track in the sky. The next year the had a much bigger runoff area in the exact spot he went off and almost "bought the farm" so it was close.

Mario was a good guy-learned much from listening to him in the test sessions about engineering and feel-this was when they used to test with no spectators at muh local in Monterey. Very personable and never forgot how lucky he was to do that for a living always had time fr his fans-plus he was a POTUS guy too took 45 for a ride in an indycar during his TV show- cap #4

Now will 45 go after the rally today since he will be halfway there??...

Abe's body returns to his home as Japan grieves for slain ex-PM

A motorcade carrying the body of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrived at his home in the Japanese capital on Saturday, a day after he was assassinated by a lone gunman in a rare act of political violence that has shocked the country. Mourners gathered at his residence and at the scene of Friday's attack in the western city of Nara, where Japan's longest-serving modern leader was gunned down while making a campaign speech, a murder decried by the political establishment as an attack on democracy itself. Authorities are reviewing security arrangements at the event where Abe was shot from close range by a 41-year-old unemployed man armed with a homemade gun. Police say the man held a grudge against Abe.

Elections for seats in Japan's upper house of parliament are going ahead as scheduled on Sunday. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida was back on the campaign trail visiting regional constituencies after making an emergency return to Tokyo on Friday after the shooting. A metal detector, not normally seen at election events in largely crime-free Japan, was installed at a site in Fujiyoshida city where Kishida was due to give a campaign speech. There was also a heavy police presence. In Nara, some 450 km (280 miles) southwest of Tokyo, a stream of people queued up to lay flowers on a table, that also held a photograph of Abe. "I'm just shocked that this kind of thing happened in Nara," Natsumi Niwa, a 50-year-old housewife, said after offering her flowers, with her 10-year-old son, near the scene of the killing outside a downtown train station. Niwa explained how Abe, a conservative and architect of the "Abenomics" policies aimed at reflating the economy, had inspired the name of her son, Masakuni. Abe used to hail Japan as a "beautiful nation". "Kuni" means nation in Japanese.

A night vigil will be held on Monday. Abe's funeral will take place on Tuesday, attended by close friends, media said. There was no immediate word on any public memorial service. Police are scrambling to establish details of the motive and method of Abe's killer. The suspect, Tetsuya Yamagami, arrested immediately after the attack, told police he believed Abe was linked to a religious group he blamed for ruining his mother financially and breaking up the family, media reported, citing police sources. Police have not identified the group.

Costco raises prices on food court soft drinks, chicken bake

Costco has reportedly raised the prices on two of its food court items. According to Business Insider, the national price hikes on its chicken bake and 20-ounce soda were confirmed by a location in Rochester, New York, as well as food courts in other locations. The chicken bake now sells for $1 more than in June, at $3.99. The price of the soda has increased by 10 cents, up to $0.69. According to research compiled by Wells Fargo ahead of the Fourth of July holiday – using data from Urner Barry, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Nielsen and Bureau of Labor Statistics – chicken prices have soared this year. The bank said that soda prices are also up 13% from last year, as well as competing beverage favorites. Last week, Costco Wholesale Corporation reported net sales of $22.78 billion for the retail month of June. That marks an increase of 20.4% from $18.92 billion last year. For the 44 weeks ended July 3, 2022, the company reported net sales of $188.34 billion, or an increase of 16.9% from $161.09 billion during the same period in 2021.

Thier hotdogs are good-every once in a great while get one and Mrs G brought one the other day-she had the Chicken bake once or twice and never got it again.

Don't do soda so I gave that to the n'bor kid

They also used to habs 3-4 different types of pizzas and those were good (for the price) to use if you bought that and then added a bunch of stuff to it now they only have cheese and pepperoni and not so good

it's not so much "news" that they raised prices on that stuff (the Food court items)-the retail big boxers have all seen increased consumption-all this pent up demand that is also being brought forward by by the system predicting and then exacerbating it (we already had one) with the constant comments and the games played by the revisions to the GDP estimates. The other thang here is that all of these big box retailers also have to carry all this inventory of the shit you don't need (like high end electronics-comps, TV's etc) and that is going through some serious deflation right now but all the stuff you need-food especially vegetables, fresh meat, grains (rice, corn, wheat and all the products made from that etc) are all and have been going higher.

A lot of that stuff is imported too which already has a higher cost-base (the prices higher to start with) and then add in the fuel prices too.

(((They))) are trying to get that down, gas prices but that is not going to be very fast since this entire gas thing is a refinery problem and the coming CPI #s won't be affected by that at all (the Oil price drop) since that is not used in the CPI data BUT gasoline IS.

"Bad cop" who is now "good cop" (Atlanta Fed Prez Bostic) in the systems view/way-raised his GDP projections yesterday (and it is a weekly thing so he may leave it there for a coupla of weeks (2 weeks!)

See here >>142078 Consumer Credit Hits A Brick Wall With Credit Cards Maxed Out and GDP revised 'upwards' to -1.2% from -2.1%

They say our GDP (Gross Domestic Product) is 70% based on consumption of goods and service-I think it's closer to 80% but that is muh opinion-and when you have deflation in all the stuff you don't need and inflation in the stuff you need that doesn't bode very well for this entire system staying together for very much longer (that is ultimately what we need) but it's gonna suck the closer we get to the election.

The disconnect is also going to be very hard for (((them))) to hide it too. I think they are in the clear with the CPI #s until Septembers reading-which comes out in Oct and they will probably be well into the next cycle of skying the markets to make the first half of the YTD (-20% or so overall) look much better in all those IRAs and 401ks.

Putting people back to sleep but that is gonna be tough to do so good luck as I think they are going to fail as most peeps (outside of the pensions and IRAs/401k) own very little of the stock market (and already have) miserably

whether we actually see him again-very low probability but I still have not abandoned that habbening-it's not gonna make or break it all fer me

But oh would that be so cool if it did since who better to present all this?

They left wouldn't not believe it coming from him right?

Totally have to accept it all since they (dems) still hold Sr in such high regard and miss NO opp to invoke-that has cooled off a bit but they used to do that HARD

It's like Potato and his son but they have backed off on that (kennedy) over the last few years...the Joe and Beau thing is just ridiculous.

The whole Q&A thing where someone asked if JFK Jr was still alive...what did they think the answer was gonna be..:"sure brosephs he's right here you wanna talk to him?"

I've always thought that it meant (at the time) the Jr part of his name is ded so technically correct but we'll see one day
