Having a little inventory problem?...and keep in mind these are surveys...they will keep it above 50 (below that shows contraction) and KANGZZ Bostic gets ta 'update' his GDPNOW forecast today too...kek

US Manufacturing Expands at Slowest Pace in Two Years

US manufacturing activity continued to cool in July as more factories dialed back production in the face of shrinking orders and rising inventories.

The Institute for Supply Management’s gauge of factory activity eased to 52.8, the lowest level since June 2020, from 53 a month earlier, according to data released Monday. Readings above 50 indicate expansion, and the latest figure compared with a median projection of 52 in a Bloomberg survey of economists. The group’s measure of production also fell to a more than two-year low, and its gauge of new orders remained in contraction territory for a second month. The figures highlight softer demand for merchandise as the economy struggles for momentum.

“Panelists are now expressing concern about a softening in the economy, as new order rates contracted for the second month amid developing anxiety about excess inventory in the supply chain,” said Timothy Fiore, chair of ISM’s Manufacturing Business Survey Committee.

The ISM factory inventories index rose to 57.3, the highest since 1984 and suggesting stockpiles are mounting at more manufacturers. While many producers have been adding to inventories in the event of further supply-chain disruptions, the increase may also suggest some of the build is unintended. (Ya think!...fuggen super genius)

Separate data from S&P Global this morning showed a build-up in finished goods inventories for the first time since October 2020. That group’s final July overall factory purchasing managers index slipped to 52.2, a two-year low.

just "seasonal" right?...kek...muh comments in () and in bold

Housing Inventory August 1st Update: Up 32.3% Year-over-year

Inventory is still increasing rapidly, but the inventory build has slowed somewhat over the last few weeks. Still, inventory is increasing much faster than normal for this time of year (both in percentage terms and in total inventory added). Here are the same week inventory changes for the last four years: 2022:13.4K 2021: 4.4K, 2020: -13.4K, 2019: 2.9K

Inventory bottomed seasonally at the beginning of March 2022 and is now up 124% since then. More than double! Altos reports inventory is up 32.3% year-over-year and is now 23.2% above the peak last year. As of July 29th, inventory was at 539 thousand (7-day average), compared to 526 thousand the prior week. Inventory was up 2.5% from the previous week.

Inventory is still historically low. Compared to the same week in 2021, inventory is up 32.3% from 407 thousand, however compared to the same week in 2020 inventory is down 14.0% from 627 thousand. Compared to 3 years ago, inventory is down 44.6% from 972 thousand. The blue line is the year-over-year data, the red line is compared to two years ago, and dashed purple is compared to 2019.

Two years ago (in 2020) inventory was declining all year, so the two-year comparison will get easier all year.

Based on the recent increases in inventory, my current estimate is inventory will be up compared to 2020 in late August or early September of this year, and back to 2019 levels in early 2023.(Which is exactly what we been saying in here for a few months now-as the wheels are coming off the housing market they just wanna soften it with flowery language like "seems to suggest" or"could be trending this way"-take a look in your own neighborhood(s)-how many homes are for sale and how long have they been for sale-this is not rocket science)

"greatest single-month slowdown on record" since at least the early 1970s"

Black Knight sees record slowdown in home price growth in June, and biggest jump in inventory in 12 years

Black Knight Inc. BKI, -1.16% said Monday that year-over-year home price growth in June dropped by nearly two percentage points, which the data analytics company said was the "greatest single-month slowdown on record" since at least the early 1970s. Black Knight said the slowdown to 17.3% annual home price growth in June from 19.3% was broad based was a record by far, "and it wasn't even close," said Black Knight Data & Analytics President Ben Graboske; in comparison, the strongest single-month slowing during the 2006 housing downturn was 1.19 percentage points. The slowdown comes along with a 22% increase in the number of homes listed for sale the past two months, which was the biggest inventory gain in 12 years. The company said the "clear driver" of the inventory gains is a decline in sales activity, resulting from the lowest levels of home affordability in nearly 40 years due to rising interest rates.

US seeks to expand ties with New Zealand amid China worries

The commander of the United States military in the Pacific said Monday he wants to expand and strengthen its ties with New Zealand. The visit to Wellington by Adm. John Aquilino, head of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, comes as the U.S. is looking to increase its presence in the region amid deep concerns over China’s growing ambitions in the Pacific. They include most recently the Solomon Islands, where the U.S. and several Pacific nations expressed deep concern about a security pact the Solomons signed with China in April, which many fear could result in a military buildup in the region.

Russia’s Slump in Oil Exports Abates, Moscow’s Revenues Go Up

Russia’s seaborne crude shipments have stabilized at a level about 500,000 barrels a day below the peak they reached after Moscow’s troops invaded Ukraine in February and remain little changed from where they were before before the attack.

Outflows rebounded in the week to July 29, hitting a four-week high of 3.5 million barrels a day, according to vessel tracking data monitored by Bloomberg. But four-week average shipments, which smooth out some of the volatility in weekly figures, were little changed at about 3.2 million barrels a day.

Based on current destinations, the average flow of Russian crude to Asia has stabilized at about 1.75 million barrels a day, down from a plateau of more than 2.1 million barrels a day in April and May. Shipments to European buyers, are averaging about 1.3 million barrels a day, down from more than 1.85 million barrels a day before the invasion.

There’s still a long way to go before a drop in shipments hits the Kremlin's war chest hard enough to give President Vladimir Putin second thoughts about his invasion of Ukraine. Rising crude prices have boosted Russia’s export duty rates this month, with four-week average export duty receipts edging higher.

Crude Flows by Destination:

Asia: Shipments to China averaged 745,000 barrels a day in the most recent four-week period, down from 810,000 barrels a day in the four weeks ended July 22. Flows to India were 740,000 barrels a day, compared with a revised 828,000 barrels a day.

Europe: The volume shipped from Russia to northern Europe fell to a two-month low in the four weeks to July 29, averaging 364,000 barrels a day. Shipments to Mediterranean buyers rebounded to a four-week high of 758,000 barrels a day, just 66,000 barrels a day below their post-Ukraine-invasion peak. A tanker anchored off Bilbao would mark the first delivery to Spain since April, if it discharges. Combined shipments to Bulgaria and Romania remained unchanged at 208,000 barrels a day in the four weeks to July 29, at a little more than half their recent peak.

Flows by Export Location: Aggregate crude flows from Russian ports jumped by 567,000 barrels a day, or 19%, to a four-week high of 3.51 million barrels a day in the seven days to July 29. Flows were higher from all regions.

Export Revenue: Moscow’s revenue from export duty jumped to an eight-week high in the week to July 29, up by $25 million, or 16%, to $180, according to calculations by Bloomberg.

Origin-to-Location Flows: A total of 34 tankers loaded 24.5 million barrels from the country’s export terminals in the week to July 29, vessel-tracking data and port agent reports show. That’s the most in four weeks. Destinations are based on where vessels signal they are heading at the time of writing, and some will almost certainly change as voyages progress. The total volume of crude on ships loading from Russia’s Baltic terminals edged lower in the week to July 29, with a rebound in flows to Asia. A ship heading across the Atlantic is showing its destination as Cuba. Flows from Novorossiysk in the Black Sea jumped to an eight-week high in the week to July 29, driven by high flows into the Mediterranean. Arctic shipments rose for a third week. Crude flows from Russia’s three eastern oil terminals regained the previous week’s losses.

11-9355 USAF E-11A GLEX (usually BLKWFXX) out of Riyadh with it's second trip north today-this is known as B.A.C.N or Battlefield Airborne Communications Node so think of this as an aerial Wi-Fi platform that allows all the ACs in the area (old and new) to have a common comms point-this AC does that for them and allows older ones to talk to newer ones since you have tankers that are well over 40 years old and current technology fighters in this area.

This is one of the newer ones as the older versions have bigger appendages that stick out of the air frame see cap #4-this one incorporates them much better-cap #3

Bombardier E-11A is the military variant of the civil Bombardier BD-700 Global Express for use as overhead communications-relay platform in southwest Asia. The BD-700 was selected due to its high service ceiling, up to 51,000 ft and up to 12 hours flight duration. Initially aircraft was designated as RC-700 under the reconnaissance classification but later was re-designated as the E-11A under the special electronics installations category. The E-11A is a U.S. Air Force aircraft that provides unparalleled communications capabilities to forces on the ground and aircraft in the air. Commonly known as Battlefield Airborne Communications Node, or BACN, this aircraft extends the range of communications channels and enables better communication among units. This element is essential where the terrain may disrupt communications channels and it enables ground forces to know what is around them when something is not in their line of sight.

I guess Gary and Co. (SEC) need some lobster dinners now since here's yet another settlement-no one ever goes to jail or gets fired just fines paid..now the difference in the JPM metals spoofing "trial" (if you can call it that-moar like show) is that they can effectively lay that entire thing at those three traders feet and thus avoid the real issue-namely a systemic problem in all markets

Jefferies Expects $80 Million Fine in Wall Street Texting Probe

Jefferies Financial Group Inc. said it expects to pay $80 million related to a sweeping US investigation into the use of unapproved personal devices for business communications.

The combined penalty would be paid to the US Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the investment bank said Monday in a filing. Regulators have been investigating Wall Street banks for failing to monitor employees using unauthorized messaging apps. Financial firms are required to track communications by staff to head off improper conduct.

So if you thought that finance was structured, careful and precise...it's not-and this was noticed in March and outflow in April-they basically invented shares(this was no "error"-how fuckin' dumb do they think people are-on purpose)to whoever showed up to buy this offer since it was oversubscribed and in true fashion they just kept writing these hoping it would never catch up to them

Barclays Faces Billion-Dollar Loss From Structured Note 'Paperwork Error'

Barclays shocked many market participants when it suspended, until further notice, any further sales from inventory and any further issuances of a number of ETNs (including VXX and OIL).

According to a press release at the time, the suspension was because "Barclays does not currently have sufficient issuance capacity to support further sales from inventory and any further issuances of the ETNs." At the time, details were scarce and opaque with Barclays expecting a loss of approximately $600 million from the 'error' which was called “basic”, “bizarre” and “embarrassing” by analysts at the time.

Now, according to a new filing today, we get considerably more color on what exactly prompted this 'paperwork error' and how high the losses have already reached.

What did Barclays do wrong? (it was fuggen greesy that is what they did wrong) In August 2019, the SEC declared effective the 2019 F-3 of Barclays Bank which sought to cover the offer and sale of up to $20.76 billion of securities (in maximum aggregate offering price) registered thereunder.

The Subject Securities offered and sold by Barclays Bank during the Relevant Period, which comprised structured notes (“Structured Notes”) and ETNs, exceeded the maximum aggregate amount that Barclays Bank could offer from the 2019 F-3 by approximately $16.37 billion. In addition, Barclays Bank also offered and sold during the Relevant Period Subject Securities in the amount of approximately $1.27 billion that were issued under the 2018 F-3 in excess of the capacity remaining thereunder.

As such, certain offers and sales of Subject Securities were not made in full compliance with the Securities Act, giving rise to rights of rescission for certain purchasers of such securities. The Issuer has therefore elected to make this Rescission Offer. Translation - Barclays sold more securities than they were allowed and are now paying the price.

As a reminder, a rescission offer is an offer to rescind a securities transaction in which a securities law violation occurred or may have occurred.

The rescission offer is simple-ish - Barclays will buy back the securities from the investors at the initial purchase price (plus some interest).

There are over 3,000 structured notes on the list that are being offered rescission and 11 ETNs. Given the market's massive swings over the past couple of years, this rescission decision has meant surging losses for Barclays and that a number of investors have been rescued from terrible trades.

For some investors, this is a massive windfall.

Bloomberg highlights one security - a $1.8 million note tied to Peleton - which trades at an indicate price of just 7.9c on the dollar (after PTON's share price collapse), but which Barclays will be forced to buy back at 102.06c on the dollar for those initial investors. That's an approximate 1200% gain for any investors who accept the rescission offer. Finally, as Bloomberg reports, net losses from the error so far have reached £751 million ($914 million), Barclays said in its second-quarter results last week. The bank delayed a billion-pound share buyback, suspended the sales and issuance of dozens of exchange-traded notes and halted market-making activities in its own debt securities due to the error.
