SAM875 USAF C-32A landed at Kelflavik AB, Iceland about 20 minutes ago and came from a stop at Thule AB, Greenland-not often we get to see a traceable flight to/from Thule and this is probably the highest level AC (tail #98-0002 used as AF2-primary kneepads and secondary-pence/Sec of State used by both Blinken Pompeo) I've ever seen in/out of Thule-had SAM729 on Aug 2 for 90min or so >>144570 pb and before that SAM437 on 0717 >>143024 pb that left RAF Northolt and likely stopped at Thule as it followed the same inbound as SAM729 and had a gap of time between Northolt depart and being visible heading south back to JBA
Greenland is owned by Denmark and we lease the land for this base-it is the northern most AFB we habs-also 45 mentioned he wanted to buy Greenland a while back in August 2019 but the Danes said "open for business, not for sale"
from Aug 21 2019

Also have a look at Project Iceworm and they said they abandoned that in 1995 and "revisited in in 1969" but ultimately never restarted...this is like a lot of other projects..pretty sure they never stopped this and continue using to this day'''

i member used one of his winter WH pics (not knowing it was his-was 2018) and someone said "wow that's a great pic do you know who took it?"
looked it up and posted it was DS (and I din't know much about him then) I gots a smiley face back
and the NS was added by someone else too
they always say "oh we stopped this project or that initiative" when you noes it's total BS.
All that work and effort to just say "ok this din't work out the way we wanted it to and we're done here"
knew about that from a ways back (Iceworm) did not know they revisited it in 1969 so you know they totally lying
prolly lotsa boomers and they just kept adding to it
'Nucular' energy (shrub kek), Maps over the centuries, Antarctica, Oil, some questions/theories about how it all was formed/discovered-don't habs all the answers for sure but would really like to know some things..how about you?
Personally think nuke energy and type weapons been around for hundreds of thousands of years and we din't invent them either..just appropriated-why the Hopis say the earth had been destroyed 4 times (and that is just their time period-what about before?) you've got that one place in western africa they say is an old nuclear reactor-Eye of Mauritania-some places say it's the remnants of Atlantis but all the old stuff-Plato, especially say it was out the Pillar of Hercules (gibraltar) but never specific as to how far or if it actually was a big mass in the atlantic-then you got the whole Lemuria thang in the pacific-which I only recently sortof rediscovered-let's face it some of the stuff we thought was total BS is really turning out to not be.always had open mind..especially with how things were created and/or discovered
The Grand Canyon..is a perfect example-all that was not done by a river and erosion from ice age. Just another thing I always thought was total BS but din't know why as a kid-they even still look like destroyed pyramids even now and plenty of examples of that all over the world.
The oil thing too all the dinosaurs just 'died' in a few places and always wondered why the saudis increased it's reserves by almost exactly what they took out of the ground almost every year-sometimes they'd let it go for a year or two but always 'filled' back up-learned all that with muh financial education because trading comms you have to look for yerself and not trust what is published so that was always one thing I could never recitfy-they'd have ran out long ago if it was finite
They say it (antarctica) discovered in early 1800s-and some of the islands around it sooner but you have all those maps that show it pretty much connected to south america all before the early 1700s and then after that it's 'not connected'.
The islands to the east of it not on any maps before that either-that I have seen
Habs always thought that it was always tropical and wasn't frozen until very recently-that whole earthquake in Japan in early 1700s (2 big ones 1703, 1707 and then the Cascadia one in 1700 so lotsa movement in a short time frame and that water had ta go somewhere and created the gap. How it got frozen like that I dunno-it had a circulation around it after that so mebby that or I've seen stuff that said the atmosphere was 'opened' somehow and that is what froze it all-one way or another it hasn't been like that for millions of years I am totally convinced.
It's kinda difficult to argue against the story they say that it was covered in ice for millions of years since we weren't there but I
be never believed that even as a kid...ever..it's always fascinated me
All those maps can't be wrong-since if they were you did not survive.
cap 1 is 1500s 2 is 1600s
Antarctica-it's called Magalla Nica on some maps and that is literally a tropical bird in Latin..it's not "magellan's land" imo cause even though he was alive in the late 1400s and early 1500's and probably knew there wasn't this big gap between that and south america
They tell the story that way because it fits in nice and neat with him naming the Pacific Ocean in the same time frame and then in later 1500s you had Drake and he names it Drakes passage not a 600 mile wide ocean (or whatever the exact distance is) separating the two
The maps of the 1700s and after are way different-just one example of 1700s cap 3
Then you habs the Piri Reis map of 1513 cap 4 that show south america and antarctica but it wasn't 'discovered' until the early 1800s?
NFW imo
kek
>they told this story
absolutely agree-one thing I never collected since they were always ridiculous priced-but wished I had (because if I thought they were 'spensive then-hfs!!) luckily most available online but never collected stuff to sell so not 'investments' ever and I have some stuff that is really 'valuable' to others but never parting with it/that as it's personal
In muh old age want to be able to have some "answers" but I'm not going to ruin muh life if I don't or not able to get them.
It would be really nice though....to really know
We gotta take a trip at the end of all this-assuming we are not old geezers that can't move around much-cause we have some common interests in that stuff and asked some of the same questions.
Fun with numbers PBOC style...and these same western credit ratings agencies are still schtum on Evergrande
Chinese Banks Are Inflating Their Loan Numbers as Demand Sinks
Chinese banks are employing unusual practices to inflate their loan volumes as they struggle to meet government demands to pump more credit into an economy beset by Covid lockdowns and a beleaguered property market.
With borrowers reluctant to take on debt as economic growth slows, some state-owned banks are extending loans to companies and then allowing them to deposit funds at the same interest rate, according to executives at six banks who spoke to Bloomberg News on condition of anonymity. Others are borrowing from each other through short-term financing arrangements that can be dressed up as new loans to boost volumes, the executives said.
It wasn’t immediately clear how widespread the practice has become. The China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission and the People’s Bank of China didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment. The moves underscore the reticence among businesses and households to borrow in an uncertain environment, where some forecasters are predicting the economy will grow just 3% and youth unemployment has surged to a record 20%. Cuts to the key policy rate and admonitions to step up lending to developers, local governments and small businesses have so far failed to arrest plummeting loan growth. Credit posted the smallest increase in at least five years last month, with consumer demand at its lowest ebb since 2007.
A successful electronics supplier in Zhejiang, in eastern China, is a good illustration of the problems banks are facing. The firm, which supplies major power companies including Schneider Electric SE, has received loan offers from a dozen banks at record low rates but has no plans or needs to borrow given the cloudy outlook. The PBOC on Monday said that in addition to supporting the real economy, banks should enhance credit support for small- and micro-enterprises, green development, scientific and technological innovation and other fields, according to the statement. “We must consolidate the foundation of economic recovery and development with a sense of urgency that no time can wait,” it said.
As data such as credit growth and retail sales have shown the economy is slowing sharply, policy makers have unveiled a series of steps to support growth and borrowing. The PBOC unexpectedly cut its key policy rate this month while authorities are also planning 200 billion yuan (29.3 billion euros) in special loans to developers and a broader relending program. (and they did just that)
China Launches 200 Billion Yuan Bailout Of Reeling Housing Sector
https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/china-launches-200-billion-yuan-bailout-reeling-housing-sector
Chinese banks this week lowered some of their benchmark loan prime rates for the first time in months to lure in reluctant borrowers. Economists are now warning that the nation faces a “liquidity trap” with demand for loans falling while broad measures of money supply show banks are sitting on plenty of cash. Households deposits increased almost 13% in the first half of the year, the largest jump on record. “The banking industry is suffering enormous pressure from the economic slowdown and the sector’s profit growth is likely to weaken,” said Liao Zhiming, chief bank analyst at China Merchant Securities Co. Banks are also dealing with a bigger risk-management challenge from more non-performing loans, he said. Under pressure to lend, banks are also facing a property crisis with developers teetering on the edge and consumers unleashing an unprecedented mortgage boycott as construction has ground to halt across the nation. It’s a balancing act for banks trying to heed Beijing’s expectations for them to play an active role in protecting economic growth while curbing bad loans. S&P Global Ratings has estimated that lenders could face mortgage losses of $350 billion in a worst-case scenario. In June, lending to the real estate sector dropped for the first time in a decade. Bad loans also increased by almost 107 billion yuan in the first half of the year to 2.95 trillion yuan. Banks are the most exposed to the property sector and mortgages at some banks account for more than 30% of total loans. There were 39 trillion yuan of outstanding mortgages and 12 trillion yuan of loans to developers at the end of June, according to PBOC data. So far, listed banks have reported 2.1 billion yuan in delinquent mortgages as directly affected by the boycotts.
(so we habs contango in the Natty Gas sector but we habs contagion in the Chinese property sector: Contagion=economic crisis from one market or region to another and can occur at both a domestic or international level-Usually associated with credit bubbles and financial crises, contagions can be manifested as a crash in one market leading to a crash in other markets.) https://www.investopedia.com/terms/c/contagion.asp
Exposure to the property sector is making banks reluctant to take on riskier lending to small businesses, who are grappling with elevated rates. Business conditions of private small companies in China contracted for the third straight month in July, according to a survey by the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business. The majority of China’s small brick-and-mortar shops can’t get a bank loan because they don’t have collateral or valid credit records, making expensive online credit firms their only option. A small electric vehicle component maker in Anhui province in eastern China said the company was only able to get 60% of the bank loan it applied for. That’s because it takes a long time for its downstream clients to make payments, affecting its debt repayment ability in the eyes of banks, said the firm’s manager, who only gave only their name as Hui.

Asgard: the dwelling place of the gods...Asgard, Old Norse Ásgardr, in Norse mythology, the dwelling place of the gods, comparable to the Greek Mount Olympus. Legend divided Asgard into 12 or more realms, including Valhalla, the home of Odin and the abode of heroes slain in earthly battle; Thrudheim, the realm of Thor; and Breidablik, the home of Balder. Each important god had his own palace in Asgard, and many Germanic peoples believed that these mansions were similar in design to those of their own nobility. Asgard could be reached from earth only by the bridge Bifrost (the rainbow).

Hedge Fund Pelham Capital Pares Record Losses, Still Down 33%
Pelham Capital, one of Europe’s best-known stock pickers, has recovered some of its record losses suffered at its hedge fund earlier this year.
The firm’s flagship Pelham Long/Short Master Fund, which runs a majority of its assets, gained 11.6% last month, according to an investor document seen by Bloomberg. That still leaves the fund down almost 33% through July, the worst-ever loss since the hedge fund started trading in 2007.
The losses have led to a sharp decline in the assets runs by the firm, which was until recently one of the largest in Europe specializing in betting on and against stocks. The firm currently manages about $2 billion, down from $5 billion in 2020, according to a person with knowledge of the matter, who asked not to be identified because the information is private.A spokesman for the London-based investment firm declined to comment. Equity hedge funds are suffering one of their worst periods. As a group, they have tumbled about 10.7% on average, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
Pelham’s losses this year have been driven by its long equity trading book, while the firm turned a small profit on its short bets, the document shows. Pelham’s smaller Long/Short Small Cap Master Fund also made about 10% last month, cutting its losses this year to 29%, another document shows. Pelham, part owned by Petershill Partners Plc, was started in 2007 by former Lansdowne Partners money manager Ross Turner.

New Home Sales Decrease Sharply, Record Months of Unsold Inventory Under Construction
Months of supply by stage of construction. “Months of supply” is inventory at each stage, divided by the sales rate. There are 1.06 months of completed supply (red line). This is about two-thirds of the normal level.
The inventory of new homes under construction is at 7.33 months (blue line) - a new record and well above the normal level. This elevated level of homes under construction is due to supply chain constraints. And a record 107 thousand homes have not been started - about 2.51 months of supply (grey line) - more than double the normal level. Homebuilders are probably waiting to start some homes until they have a firmer grasp on prices and demand. Umm I disagree-they are never very cautious-this is there business and all they know-they always buck the trend between demand and own 'sentiment' since no new homes built means no expected revs to be booked later on down the road-but this road is very rocky already)
...
This suggests we will see a sharp increase in completed inventory over the next several months - and that will put pressure on new home prices.

Biden’s decision on student loan forgiveness could come as soon as tomorrow
President Joe Biden has promised to make a decision on student loan forgiveness by the end of August, when monthly loan payments are set to resume. The president is under intense pressure to cancel more than $10,000 per borrower. Though the White House insists no final decision has been made, three sources told NBC that the president is expected to extend the pause on student loan debt payments for several months while forgiving loans up to $10,000 for those with yearly incomes of less than $125,000. The country’s outstanding student loan debt balance exceeds $1.7 trillion, with 40 million Americans in debt for their education. Before the pandemic, when the economy was in one of its healthiest periods, some 10 million borrowers were still behind on their payments.
Since the campaign trail, President Joe Biden has put his support behind $10,000 in student loan forgiveness, while his competitors to the left, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass. and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., vowed to cancel more. Warren pledged to cancel $50,000 for most borrowers and Sanders, to eliminate all of the debt.
Biden is now under intense pressure to cancel more then $10,000, including from groups like the NAACP and lawmakers such as Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. Wisdom Cole, national director of the NAACP’s youth and college division, recently said on Twitter that nixing just $10,000 would be “a slap in the face.”
At the same time, sweeping student loan forgiveness will also likely anger some Americans, including those who never borrowed for their education or went to college. Several Republicans have said they will try to block an effort by the president to cancel the debt. Rep. Kevin Brady, R-Texas, ranking member of the House Ways and Means Committee, recently called student loan forgiveness “a giveaway to highly educated college grads.”
Overall, though, the majority of voters (62%) support student loan forgiveness, according to a poll by Morning Consult.

The Tiger is ded...you may remember Bill Hwang of Archegos Captial..one of the moar infamous members of the original group of Robertsons' Tiger Cubs-see below and a few of the other ones have had some liquidations but have managed to stay afloat...Sundheim D1 and Chase Coleman Tiger Global and many of these originals have been shuffling the deck chairs around on the Olympic
Julian Robertson, Founder of Tiger Management Hedge Fund, Dies at Age 90
Julian Robertson, the billionaire founder of Tiger Management and a sponsor to several other hedge funds, has died. He was 90.
He died in Manhattan due to cardiac complications, according to a comment that Robertson’s longtime spokesperson, Fraser Seitel, provided to Bloomberg, which first reported Robertson’s death.
Robertson launched Tiger Management with $8.8 million in 1980; it swelled to be a multi-billion dollar hedge fund before closing in 2000. His own net worth was estimated to be $4 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
But more than Robertson’s personal investing success, he was credited for mentoring a new generation of hedge fund managers who learned to trade from Roberston at Tiger and then went on to launch their own hedge funds. The so-called “Tiger Cubs” include Chase Coleman of Tiger Global Management, John Griffin of Blue Ridge Capital, Lee Ainslie of Maverick Capital, Andreas Halvorsen of Viking Global Investors, and Stephen Mandel of Lone Pine Capital. After closing his fund, Robertson went on to seed this new generation of hedge fund managers in exchange for some of their profits.
Robertson’s investing tactics included investing in good and bad times and never committing more than 5% of capital to a single investment, according to Sebastian Mallaby, author of a 2010 book on hedge funds titled More Money Than God, according to Bloomberg.
While average annual returns at his fund hit 32%, Robertson’s fund faced difficulties such as being on the wrong side of a trade on the Japanese yen in 1998. This led to investor outflows and Robertson closing his fund two years later.
Robertson was born on June 25, 1932, in Salisbury, North Carolina, and earned a bachelor’s degree in business at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. From there he spent two years in the U.S. Navy before joining Kidder Peabody & Co. in 1957. Robertson went on to become chief executive officer of Kidder Peabody’s asset management firm, Webster Management, in 1974.
Outside of his finance career, Robertson launched the Tiger Foundation in 1989. The organization supports low-income New Yorkers and their families and has provided more than $250 million in grants to organizations that strive to break the cycle of poverty, according to its website.

Some overlap in 2-3 but many of these "cubs" din't adhere to the same strategy and most notorious is Bill Hwang at Archegos who was so levered up on equities (via swap contracts or Certificates of Difference so he din't actually own it the banks below did) and that allowed most of the trail of ownership to be placed back at the same banks who loaned him the $ to acquire the positions-(and are the ones now that say "we din't know") so when the market flinched down a bit in late 2020 and early 2021-he (and his over-levered personal "fortune") went with it...'
The banks that Archegos used are:
Goldman Sachs (US)
Morgan Stanley (US)
Wells Fargo (US)
Credit Suisse (European)
UBS (European)
Deutsche Bank (European)
Nomura (Japan)
Mitsubishi (Japan)
Here is from 4 days ago and again another "this is the story we want to tell you" like the JP Morgan Metals Trading...the best line here is "the banks had no idea wut was going on"....they used the same line for Bernie Madoff too..and no trial date has been set but if this goes to trial it will be the same thing as in the JP Morgan Metals "trial" putting names and faces on a totally algorithmically controlled market and the insistence that the participants (i.e. Banks and it's management) have/had no idea what was going on with it at any time-which is total BS-they usually settle this stuff or plead it out so if it goes to 'trial' he is the one they will blame it all on-and then don't look at the others because none of them are structured this way.../s some of his former staff are cooperating
