All the major arcana cards (ones numbered from 0 to 22??) are associated with a Hebrew letter.

Theres a big story behind the letters, goes into Kabbalism.

For instance, the Fool is Aleph, an Ox, the force that moves nations, people, and humanity.

The Universe is a cross which symbolises completion or centering.

The Magician is Bet, a house, a container for the life force symbolised by Aleph. Maybe a person, or a story, or anything influential that exists for a limited time as a physical object or idea.

Many interpretations of the cards, but the above is an example of what they sound like.

All of the colors, numbers of decorations on a robe or stars, animals, the river that appears, etc.: everything has a meaning.

Rider-Waite is a classic deck for symbolism.

Crowley's deck is a masterpiece and is tied to his other work.

The usual use of the cards is contemplation, which is a meditation on the symbolism in a particular card, so gazing at the card for maybe ten minutes or longer.

At a fundraising party for an arts event a tarot reader donated her time.

I told her I was planning on going back to school but did not know how to pay for it, I asked her how can I find the payment.

She laid out the cards and looked them over, then simply said that it was already taken care of. No elaborate interpretations, and she said she didn't know anything more.

Months later when I started digging on how to pay, I found an act of Congress had doubled the GI Bill payment, almost enough for school and all (meager) living expenses.
