Phonefagging/workfagging so sauce can’t happen, but in correlation with this thought about John the Baptist, I’ve read ( I think it was in “Bloodline of the Holy Grail” ) that JtB could also have qualified as “The Christ” by lineage. Both Jesus and JtB had the same lineage, so they were both eligible to be chosen as The Christ. Some evidence exists that JtB was actually chosen at some point.
