My great uncle was SS when that happened. Just before LBJ got to the plane they drove in the middle of nowhere to a field and he was apparently completely distraught. I'd love to ask him about it again, but he died several years ago.
Yea, from the story my grandmother told us, LBJ was very upset and had to go somewhere to calm down, so they pulled off a major road and drove into a field and he got out of the car. I will ask my mother/uncles again for more details.

Spoke with my mother. My great uncle told her that LBJ did not want to be President. He also said the shots came from the grassy knoll and the Cubans were supposedly the ones who did it. They may have been involved with CIA, but it was supposed to have been related to the Cuban Missile Crisis.
