I am partially unwilling to agree with semite and greek artemis being different. With a roughly thousand year time space between the two, it is within the realm of possible that a more direct link is possible by way of the ancient culture of Lydia, located where Turkey is now. Much knowledge of the culture is lost, though I postulate the myths of the greek gods originated within the area. A point of reference is in the Phonecian city of Tyre, per Herodotus, a temple to Heracles(greek)/Hercules(Roman) the demi-god another to a human version. I will put that cite up later. But, I see the possibility of the two being the same, but found distant from each other only by where found.
