Elon Musk's Hyperloop Reaches A Record 288 Miles Per Hour...Right Before Exploding

Tue, 07/23/2019 - 08:26

Elon Musk's futuristic vision for disrupting the world of transportation hit a new milestone yesterday: a Hyperloop test pod hit 288 miles per hour โ€“ right before it exploded, according to the Independent.

The incident took place at the 2019 SpaceX Hyperloop pod competition, which is where student teams launch prototype pods through a 1.2 km vacuum tube next to SpaceX headquarters in California. We're sure this contest definitely isn't Musk farming out his engineering work to a bunch of his cultists for cheap labor.

The winning team reached the top speed - and then their pod exploded.

We are happy to announce that we have reached a top speed of 463 km/h today. Although we lost some parts on the way, we were able to successful finish our run and are proud to be the winners of the 2019 SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition.โ€

When Musk first conceptualized the Hyperloop in 2013, he suggested that vacuum tubes might help move people at more than 500 mph. As the article notes, this latest record is still a long way off from this prediction and is barely on a par with some of the fastest high-speed trains currently in use in China. Except, of course, those trains donโ€™t explode after they reach 250 mph.

The explosion didnโ€™t stop Musk from announcing the new speed record on Twitter and revealing that the 2020 competition would take place in a 10 km vacuum tube "with a curve".

We wonder if Elon will take the first test ride

S.Korean Fighter Fires 360 Rounds Of Warning Shots At Russian Jet In "Mid-Air Confrontation

Tue, 07/23/2019 - 07:55

For the first time since the fall of the Soviet Union, Russian jets flying through South Korean airspace provoked the South Korean military into a "midair confrontation" that involved firing hundreds of warning shots. All told, South Korean jets fired 360 machine-gun rounds and at least 20 flares, Bloomberg reports.

Three Russian military planes (two Tu-95 bombers and one A-50 airborne early warning and control aircraft) entered South Korea's air defense identification zone off the country's east coast, the South Korean Defense Ministry said. South Korean fighter jets scrambled in response, and fired 80 rounds of machine gun fire and 10 flares - what they described as "warning shots." Two Chinese bombers joined with the Russian planes on Tuesday, and even violated South Korea's airspace from the Southwest, though media reports didn't specify whether they were participating in some kind of exercise with the Russian planes, or whether it was a separate incident entirely. It's not uncommon for Chinese jets to wander into South Korean airspace.

White House Backs Rule Change That Will End Food Stamps For 3 Million Americans

Tue, 07/23/2019 - 06:28

In another example of the Trump Administration using the bureaucracy to circumvent intransigent House Democrats, the Department of Agriculture is taking steps to cut food stamp benefits for 3 million Americans by limiting a state's ability to automatically enroll residents who also receive welfare benefits.

Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue said the states "have misused this flexibility," Bloomberg reports.

"We are changing the rules, preventing abuse of a critical safety net system, so those who need food assistance the most are the only ones who receive it," Perdue added.

In a potential complication, the Department of Agriculture has proposed this rule change just as the Trump Administration is touting a deal with Congressional Democrats to lift spending caps as part of a compromise to raise the Debt Ceiling.

Rashida Tlaib Calls For $20 Per Hour Minimum Wage

By Sara Carter -

July 23, 2019

Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., called for a federal minimum wage of $20 per hour at an event in Detroit.

Tlaib, referring to the federal minimum wage for those workers, said that โ€œtipped employees make $2.13 per hour, federally.โ€

โ€œThink about that for one minute. People cannot live on those kind of wages, and I canโ€™t allow people to be living off tips, you know, relying on tips for wages. Itโ€™s just not enough to support our families. โ€ฆ By the way, when we started it, it should have been $15,โ€ she said at the event, titled โ€œServer for an Hour.โ€

โ€œNow I think it should be $20 โ€” make sure America Rising hears that,โ€ she continued. โ€œIt should be $20 an hour โ€” $18 to $20 an hour at this point. โ€ฆ They say all of this is going to raise the cost, but I can tell you, milk has gone up, eggs have gone up, everything has gone up. The cost of a lot of things that we need has gone up already.โ€

Trump Welcomes Prime Minister Boris Johnson: โ€˜He Will Be Great!

7/23/2019

U.S. President Donald Trump has hailed the selection of Boris Johnson to the leadership of the United Kingdom, writing that the Conservative will be great.

Former Mayor of London and foreign secretary Boris Johnson [pictured above meeting President Trump in 2017, above] won a ballot of Conservative members Tuesday to become the new party leader, a position that brings with it the office of Prime Minister under the present makeup of the British Parliament. Mr Johnson is expected to officially take on the title of Prime Minister on Wednesday afternoon.

Reacting to the news, President Trump congratulated Mr Johnson and made a prediction for his future performance, stating โ€œHe will be great!โ€

President Trump appeared optimistic about the prospects of a Johnson leadership before the vote closed last week. Breitbart News reported his comments when the President said: โ€œI think theyโ€™ve done a very poor job with Brexit, I think the previous Prime Minister has done a very bad job with Brexit, what can I say, I mean itโ€™s a disaster. It shouldnโ€™t be that way, I think Boris will straighten it out.โ€

Trump continued: โ€œI like Boris Johnson, I always have โ€ฆ heโ€™s a different kind of guy, but they say Iโ€™m a different kind of a guy too, we get along well,โ€ he said. โ€œI think weโ€™ll have a very good relationship.โ€

Boris Johnson himself has been a lot cooler on President Trump. While he has spoken up for President Trump when he has criticised Theresa Mayโ€™s Brexit strategy, he has also criticised Trumpโ€™s comments and even reportedly snubbed a meeting with him when the President was in London earlier this year.

Boris Johnson to become next British Prime Minister, after winning Conservative Party leadership ballot

Britainโ€™s next Prime Minister will be Boris Johnson after he won a ballot vote of Conservative Party members against Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt, it was announced Tuesday.

Johnson, an avid supporter of Brexit and former Mayor of London, had been expected to clinch victory against Hunt. He will replace outgoing Prime Minister Theresa May Wednesday after she announced her resignation last month amid failure to lead the nation out of the European Union.

He won 66 percent of the vote, or 92,153 of the total 159,320 people eligible to vote. Hunt received 46,656 votes, and there were 509 rejected ballot papers. The turnout was 87.4 percent.

BORIS JOHNSON SAYS IT'S 'BIZARRE' PEOPLE ARE BLAMING HIM FOR RESIGNATION OF UK AMBASSADOR TO US

Johnson will be installed as prime minister in a formal handover from May on Wednesday when he will also visit the Queen and be asked to form a government. In his victory speech, Johnson praised Hunt as a formidable opponent and thanked the outgoing prime minister for her โ€œextraordinary service to this party and our country.โ€

โ€œWe know the mantra of the campaign that has just gone by, it is deliver Brexit, unite the country and defeat Jeremy Corbyn, and that is what we are going to do,โ€ Johnson added in a brief speech.

โ€œDeliver Brexit, unite the country and defeat Jeremy Corbyn.โ€

โ€” Boris Johnson

President Trump, who previously endorsed Johnson for the position, was among the first world leaders who congratulated Johnson on the victory.

"Congratulations to Boris Johnson on becoming the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He will be great!" Trump tweeted.

Johnson will take the reins of the government at a turbulent time when Britain is at crossroads over Brexit, the Iranian regime sparked an international crisis after seized a British tanker, while even his party members are openly rebelling against him.

He campaigned on getting Britain out of the EU on the scheduled date of Oct. 31 โ€” with or without a deal, a promise that won over supporters of Brexit but created animosity with more moderate Conservatives who fear the consequences of a no-deal Brexit that experts say would plunge the country into recession.

Report: National Review, Forbes, HuffPost Helped Epstein Remake Image After Sex Crime Conviction

7/22/2019

A number of media outlets took part in what the New York Times called a โ€œcampaign to remake the public imageโ€ of Jeffrey Epstein, the billionaire financier who served a short jail sentence for sex offenses after reaching a controversial plea deal in 2008 that allowed him to avoid federal prosecution.

The Times cited Forbes, the National Review, the Huffington Post, and a tech website as outlets that published positive stories about Epstein and noted that those stories were deleted or revised after the newspaper inquired about them.

Forbes published a retraction for a story praising Epstein for his philanthropic spirit headlined: โ€œScience Funder Jeffrey Epstein Launches Radical Emotional Software For The Gaming Industryโ€:

Boris Johnson's Brexit 2.0: Can the New PM Deliver?

Boris Johnson, the public face of the Brexit campaign, won the contest to succeed Theresa May as British prime minister, taking over a country in crisis and a government on the brink of breaking apart.

After a six-week leadership race, which he led from the start, 55-year-old Johnson defeated his rival Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt by a landslide in a ballot of the Conservative Partyโ€™s roughly 160,000 members.

โ€œI say to all the doubters ... we are going to energize the country, we are going to get Brexit done on Oct. 31, we are going to take advantage of all the opportunities that it will bring in a new spirit of can do,โ€ Johnson said in acceptance speech. โ€œLike some slumbering giant we are going to rise and ping off the guy ropes of self-doubt and negativity.โ€

The pound erased the dayโ€™s losses against the dollar, and was up against all major peers after the announcement.

The result marks the end of a bruising battle for the biggest job in British politics and the start of what threatens to be a brutal new phase in the civil war inside the government over Brexit.

The incoming prime minister has just 100 days to negotiate a new divorce deal with the European Union before the U.K. is due to leave the bloc at the end of October.

He must do so despite opposition from the EU and a growing rebellion from his own colleagues, including a group of ministers quitting the government because they canโ€™t work for him. Within minutes of Johnsonโ€™s victory, Justice Secretary David Gauke confirmed he was resigning from the government.

An hour later, International Development Secretary Rory Stewart also announced he would quit. On Sunday, Philip Hammond said he would stand down as finance minister. Hammond has declined to rule out voting to topple Johnsonโ€™s government if itโ€™s the only way to stop a no-deal Brexit.

The rebels inside the party Johnson now leads are vowing to fight his policy of exiting the EU with or without an agreement -- โ€œdo or dieโ€ -- by the hard deadline of Oct. 31. Adding to his problems is the Toriesโ€™ lack of an automatic majority in Parliament -- and Democratic Unionist Party, the small Northern Irish grouping that props up the Conservatives, wants to renegotiate the terms of its continuing support.

Even with the DUP on board, Johnsonโ€™s majority is perilously small, after a number of defections and defeats. Some Conservative believe a general election is inevitable and Johnsonโ€™s team have been war-gaming their options for a snap poll in the fall.

Giuliani shreds de Blasio over videos of NYPD officers doused with water: โ€˜Heโ€™s a disgrace

Rudy Giuliani pointed the finger squarely at New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio after videos surfaced Monday of people attacking NYPD officers by dousing them with water, saying this โ€œwould never happen in a million years when I was mayor of New York City.โ€

Footage shows separate incidents of people in Harlem and Brooklyn using buckets to splash and dump water over uniformed officers, as the cops calmly walk away. De Blasio condemned the acts as โ€œCompletely unacceptable,โ€ and said, โ€œWe wonโ€™t tolerate this kind of disrespect.โ€ Still, former mayor Giuliani believes the 2020 presidential candidate is part of the problem.

DE BLASIO PRESSED ON BEING IN IOWA DURING NYC BLACKOUT: 'DOESN'T MATTER WHERE YOU ARE' WHEN YOU'RE A CHIEF EXECUTIVE

โ€œThis is what happens with knee-jerk disrespect for police. It will only get worse until these Left wing idiots are defeated," Giuliani tweeted Tuesday morning, saying the current "disrespect for the uniform" is the "result of a Democrat-Progressive (Retrogressive)-Socialist Mayor."

The former mayor had even stronger words Monday night on โ€œThe Ingraham Angle,โ€ saying de Blasio was โ€œabsolutely destroying the quality of life in this city.โ€

Giuliani has criticized the mayor in the past over the increase in homelessness in New York City under de Blasioโ€™s administration. Giuliani was known for reducing the number of people living on the streets.

โ€œHeโ€™s a disgrace, and even Democrats donโ€™t support him and are embarrassed of him,โ€ Giuliani added, perhaps a reference to de Blasioโ€™s low poll numbers as he campaigns for the Democratic presidential nomination. Mayor de Blasio's office did not immediately respond to Fox News' request for comment on Giuliani's remarks.

New York City Police Benevolent Association President Patrick J. Lynch also called out the cityโ€™s leadership after the videos went viral.

โ€œOur anti-cop lawmakers have gotten their wish: the NYPD is now frozen. Itโ€™s not the fault of these police officers. Itโ€™s the end result of the torrent of bad policies and anti-police rhetoric that has been streaming out of City Hall and Albany for years now,โ€ Lynch said in a statement, adding, โ€œDisorder controls the streets, and our elected leaders refuse to allow us to take them back.โ€

In one of the videos, someone could be seen throwing a bucket at an officer, hitting him in the head as he appeared to be in the middle of an arrest.

'''NSA Forms Cybersecurity Directorate Under More Assertive U.S. Effort

Anne Neuberger, tapped as head, warns against โ€˜not engaging in the fight'''

By Dustin Volz

July 23, 2019 6:00 am ET

The National Security Agency will create a cybersecurity directorate later this year as part of a wider effort to align the agencyโ€™s offensive and defensive operations more closely, U.S. officials said.

Anne Neuberger has been tapped to lead the new directorate, slated to become operational Oct. 1.

The creation of the directorate and selection of Ms. Neuberger come during a broader fusion of NSAโ€™s offensive and defensive portfolios. The integration has been under way for several years but has expanded under Gen. Paul Nakasone, who has led the NSA and the U.S. Cyber Command since May 2018.

The Trump administration has sought to be more aggressive and the NSA has adopted a strategy of โ€œpersistent engagementโ€ in cyberspace against foreign adversaries including Russia, China and Iran. Much of those efforts have focused on deterring election interference after Moscow, according to former special counsel Robert Mueller and the U.S. intelligence community, meddled in the 2016 presidential vote to boost the candidacy of Donald Trump. Russia has denied the allegations.

Ms. Neuberger, 43 years old, is expected to be named formally to her new post Tuesday during a speech by Gen. Nakasone at the International Conference on Cyber Security at Fordham University. He is expected to provide public details on the cybersecurity directorate for the first time.

Ms. Neuberger said in an interview that she will report to Gen. Nakasone and that the directorate will more actively use signals intelligence gleaned from expanded operations against adversaries. The directorate will work to protect the U.S. from foreign threats by sharing more insights about specific cyber threats with other federal agencies and the private sector.

Gen. Nakasoneโ€™s โ€œcore vision is operationalizing intelligence to secure the country,โ€ Ms. Neuberger said.

Ms. Neuberger recently oversaw NSAโ€™s election security work leading up to and during the 2018 midterms, which saw expanded efforts from the NSA and the militaryโ€™s U.S. Cyber Command to detect and deter Russian election interference and share more intelligence with other agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security.

She previously served as NSAโ€™s first chief risk officer, a position created to help stem the tide of leaks after disclosures in 2013 from former agency contractor Edward Snowden revealed details about the NSAโ€™s domestic and international surveillance operations. Ms. Neuberger worked on a team that helped to establish Cyber Command a decade ago and served as assistant deputy director of the operations directorate at the NSA. She currently sits on NSAโ€™s board of directors.

The NSAโ€™s cybersecurity directorate will effectively replace the agencyโ€™s information assurance directorate, which was responsible for guarding sensitive information on national security systems but largely operated separately from its signals intelligence directorate.

Scheme Team Ploy โ€“ Mueller asked Barr for Letter Outlining Testimony Restriction

Posted on July 23, 2019 by sundance

The media has been apoplectic in selling outrage over the U.S. Department of Justice sending a letter to Robert Mueller with guidelines for his testimony. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler appeared on morning TV shows today to decry the hubris of the letter calling it โ€œincredibly arrogantโ€ of Bill Barr to send such instructions.

However, in the background, for those who watch these manufactured events, you can see that everything around this โ€œletterโ€ was staged. Everything around this letter was intentionally designed by the Lawfare group; which includes Jerry Nadlerโ€™s staff.

Yes, it is revealed todayโ€ฆ. the Lawfare staff of Chairman Nadler -who are coordinating with Muellerโ€™s staff- requested the letter to set-up a manufactured narrative before the testimony. Essentially, team Nadler and team Mueller requested the letter, so that Nadler could decry it. Thatโ€™s the textbook definition of manufacturing outrage:

(Reuters) House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler said Mueller did not need to follow the instructions contained in the letter.

โ€œHe does not have to comply with that letter. He doesnโ€™t work for them. And that letter asks things that are beyond the power of the agency to ask even if he still worked for them,โ€ Nadler said in a CNN interview.

โ€œI think itโ€™s incredibly arrogant of the department to try to instruct him in what to say,โ€ Nadler added. โ€œItโ€™s part of the ongoing cover-up by the administration to keep information away from the American people.โ€

A spokesman for Mueller, Jim Popkin, said the letter had been received but declined further comment. (Link)

See what they are doing?

Notice how the Mueller โ€œspokesmanโ€ doesnโ€™t refute the narrative?

See the scheme?

This is what Lawfare does folks. This is all they know to do; and the media selling the narrative is all just part of the planโ€ฆ. Itโ€™s ridiculous in the extreme.

As Predicted โ€“ Mueller Will Not Testify Alone โ€“ Handler Aaron Zebley Now Added

Posted on July 23, 2019

The schemes of Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler are predictable. As we said three months ago, Robert Mueller would not be allowed to testify without a handler. Small group participant Aaron Zebly will now join Mueller for his testimony. This has always been the plan, but strategically announced today.

Remember, Muellerโ€™s team is working closely with Nadlerโ€™s team; they are part of the same purpose. They are all part of the same network. The impeachment objective is a group effort from inside government & outside (Lawfare). These are not separate groups.

The pre-planning was why Chairman Nadler hired Lawfare Group members to become committee staff. Chairman Schiff hired former SDNY U.S. Attorney Daniel Goldman (link), and Chairman Nadler hired Obama administration lawyer Norm Eisen and criminal defense attorney Barry Berke (link). All these participants are within the Lawfare network. Aaron Zebly is just another key player in the coordinated group.

WASHINGTON โ€“ Former special counsel Robert Mueller has made a last-minute request to have one of his longtime aides appear as a witness during his highly-anticipated testimony before the House Judiciary Committee, one congressional source told NBC News on Tuesday.

Mueller has requested that Aaron Zebley appear with him when he testifies on Wednesday about his report on Russian interference in the 2016 election and collusion and obstruction by President Donald Trump.

BREAKING: Top Los Angeles Water Executive Steps Down in Wake of FBI Raids

David H. Wright, a top Los Angeles Department of Water and Power executive, has reportedly stepped down in the wake of FBI raids on the organizationโ€™s downtown headquarters.

Mayor Eric Garcetti had announced weeks ago that David Wright, the DWPโ€™s general manager, would be leaving the utility on Oct. 1. The DWPโ€™s board also voted today to appoint Chief Operating Officer Marty Adams, a 35-year veteran of the agency, as interim general manager, effective immediately.

FBI agents served search warrants on Monday at multiple government offices, including the utilityโ€™s downtown headquarters.
