WATCH THE WATER?

David H. Wright, a top Los Angeles Department of Water and Power executive, has reportedly stepped down in the wake of FBI raids on the organization’s downtown headquarters.

Mayor Eric Garcetti had announced weeks ago that David Wright, the DWP’s general manager, would be leaving the utility on Oct. 1. The DWP’s board also voted today to appoint Chief Operating Officer Marty Adams, a 35-year veteran of the agency, as interim general manager, effective immediately.

FBI agents served search warrants on Monday at multiple government offices, including the utility’s downtown headquarters. Agents were reportedly looking for evidence of a wide array of possible crimes, including bribery, kickbacks, extortion, mail fraud, and money laundering, according to a warrant excerpt.
