Duterte To Put $400,000 Bounty On 'Head' Of Cop-Killing Insurgency Leader

He Only Wants The Head Not The Body

by Tyler Durden

Sat, 07/27/2019 - 23:00

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has posted a bounty for the literal head of a communist insurgent leader behind the killings of four police officers in central Philippines, according to SCMP.

Members of the New People's Army (NPA) ambushed and shot the motorcycle officers while they were riding in Negros Oriental province on July 18, according to police.

"Still not satisfied with the blood of their prey, the terrorists also looted the dead of their firearms, valuables and personal belongings, and drove off with the victims’ motorcycle," reads a statement by the Philippine police.

Baltimore Sun editorial board lashes out at Trump: 'Better to have a few rats than to be one'

By John Bowden - 07/27/19 09:16 PM EDT

The Baltimore Sun editorial board ripped President Trump as the "most dishonest man to ever occupy the Oval Office" on Saturday in a scorching piece after Trump referred to Rep. Elijah Cummings' (D-Md.) 7th congressional district, which includes west Baltimore, as a "rat and rodent infested mess."

In a scathing column, the editors of one of the country's oldest newspapers wrote that Trump himself had more power to affect immediate change in Baltimore than Cummings does, who Trump also targeted for criticism Saturday, and urged him to use the power of the presidency to affect positive change.

"[W]e would above all remind Mr. Trump that the 7th District, Baltimore included, is part of the United States that he is supposedly governing," the Sun's editors wrote.

"The White House has far more power to affect change in this city, for good or ill, than any single member of Congress including Mr. Cummings. If there are problems here, rodents included, they are as much his responsibility as anyone’s, perhaps more because he holds the most powerful office in the land," they added.

The editors then went on to launch into a full-scale attack on Trump, likening him to "vermin."

"[W]e would tell the most dishonest man to ever occupy the Oval Office, the mocker of war heroes, the gleeful grabber of women’s private parts, the serial bankrupter of businesses, the useful idiot of Vladimir Putin and the guy who insisted there are 'good people' among murderous neo-Nazis that he’s still not fooling most Americans into believing he’s even slightly competent in his current post," they wrote.

"Or that he possesses a scintilla of integrity," they continued. "Better to have some vermin living in your neighborhood than to be one."

Trump's attack on Cummings earlier Saturday came after similar attacks in previous weeks targeting other minority members of Congress including Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.).

The House, led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-N.Y.) largely condemned the president's remarks and voted mostly along party lines to label the remarks "racist."

Evidence that Trump’s ‘remain in Mexico’ policy is working

John SextonPosted at 8:31 pm on July 27, 2019

Yesterday the Texas Tribune posted a story offering evidence that Trump’s “remain in Mexico” policy, which sends would-be migrants back to Mexico to await their immigration court dates is having its intended effect. Many migrants who came for economic reasons, some believing that having a child with them would give them a quick pass into America, are becoming discouraged and going home.

The official name for the “remain in Mexico” initiative is Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), an ironic turn of phrase for migrants who feel anything but protected in Mexico. Launched in January in California, the initiative has since spread across the border all the way to deep South Texas. Activists have sued to stop it, but MPP has survived so far as those legal challenges work their way through the courts.

Though thousands of migrants have gone back to Mexico under MPP (more than 10,000 to Juarez alone), requests to both U.S. and Mexican immigration authorities for the latest figures and comment about the program’s impact were not returned as of Friday morning.

One potential sign that many are giving up: a government official in Washington familiar with the MPP initiative said an estimated 40 percent of the migrants returned to Juarez, Mexico, from El Paso did not show up for their initial court hearings. The official did not have permission to comment on the record and spoke on condition of anonymity.

A migration expert from UT Austin tells the Tribune, “There is a big difference between waiting in Boston for your case and waiting in Mexicali or Monterrey.” Mexico is offering migrants the choice of waiting around for their court dates in the rough towns just south of the border or a free bus ride farther south. Many are choosing the bus, having realized that their attempts to game the system aren’t working out as planned:

Franklin Lopez, 44, came to the U.S. border with his 8-year-old daughter and dreams of getting some new work tools he could bring back to Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua.

“We all came with the illusion that with a child you could get through, and unfortunately they reached the limit,” Lopez said. Now he’s headed home $8,000 lighter — $4,000 of it in the hands of a coyote who left him stranded in Guatemala, and $4,000 to get across the U.S. border only to get sent back to Mexico a few days later.

Ted Cruz, Lindsey Graham: Top Gun? More like popgun after China’s influence

Ed MorrisseyPosted at 7:01 pm on July 27, 2019

Maverick returns in the upcoming sequel to Top Gun, but he’s a lot less mavericky in one sense. Adam Kredo provided this amusing leftover from an already heady week, pointing out the wisdom of the old adage — he who pays the piper calls the tune. And when a major firm from China bankrolls your patriotic look at the American military, well, what follows is pretty predictable.

See Also: Evidence that Trump’s ‘remain in Mexico’ policy is working

First Mark McKinnon noticed the changes to Maverick’s wardrobe in the trailer:

Why would the CCP have any input into Maverick’s jacket? It turns out that China’s Tencent Pictures put up a lot of the cash for Top Gun 2. They also own part of the production company Skydance that is producing the film, but it’s not just the ownership issue that might be driving these changes, notes The Hollywood Reporter:

Suspicions have been heightened by the fact that Tencent Pictures, the film division of Chinese internet giant Tencent, is a co-financier of the new Top Gun movie. Tencent also is a part-owner of David Ellison’s Skydance, which is co-producing the film with Paramount.

But even without the direct involvement of Chinese investors, Hollywood studios have for years avoided storylines, characters or even visual elements that could conceivably cause offense to either Beijing authorities or nationalistic segments of the Chinese audience. …

For the better part of a decade, U.S. studios have been careful to portray China in an unfailingly positive, or neutral, light. Film projects casting a critical eye on the China of the past or present — Seven Years in Tibet, for example, or Richard Gere’s Red Corner, which criticized China’s legal system — haven’t gotten made since the 1990s. Instead, China has tended to be portrayed — if at all — as a thoroughly stabilizing and technologically advanced partner, as in the finale of Ridley Scott’s The Martian or Roland Emmerich’s 2012.

Why? It’s still about the dollars. Hollywood needs China’s theater screens and billion-person population to ensure profitability, and the Chinese government won’t allow films that paint China in a bad light to be shown. That’s not a big deal when producing low-budget art films, but Hollywood studios have stopped producing those in favor of big-budget comic-book action films.

Top Gun 2 is hardly the most egregious example of Chinese influence on a film. In 2012’s Red Dawn remake, the country invading the US was changed from China to North Korea in post-production. Its original studio, MGM, was going through a bankruptcy and they needed to gain access to China’s theaters in order to maximize profit off the film. No one explained how a starving nation of around 25 million people could invade a wealthy nation of 300 million, an issue that didn’t exist when the antagonist was China and its one-billion-plus invasion potential.

Anyway, money talks, and patriotism walks — in Hollywood, anyway. Ted Cruz, take it away:

Here We Go: Nearly 150 Obama Officials Defend 'The Squad' In WaPo OpEd

July 27, 2019

In an opinion piece for the Washington Post, 148 African American members of President Barack Obama's administration came together to explain why they support "The Squad," made up of Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA).

According to the Obama alumni, President Donald Trump's "go back to where you came from" comments are unacceptable and racist. Although they're bothered by the language Trump used, they use it as "jet-fuel" for their activism.

.Witnessing racism surge in our country, both during and after Obama’s service and ours, has been a shattering reality, to say the least. But it has also provided jet-fuel for our activism, especially in moments such as these.

...

There is truly nothing more un-American than calling on fellow citizens to leave our country — by citing their immigrant roots, or ancestry, or their unwillingness to sit in quiet obedience while democracy is being undermined.

Trump wasn't telling "The Squad" to leave this country as a way of being racist. He was saying that America is the greatest nation in the world. If someone can't respect our laws, our way of life and what we hold dear, they're more than welcome to leave. They're more than welcome to live in a country that more aligns with their political and personal beliefs. Stop trying to changing the United States and what she stands for. There are plenty of people who love her the way she is.

We are proud descendants of immigrants, refugees and the enslaved Africans who built this country while enduring the horrors of its original sin. We stand on the soil they tilled, and march in the streets they helped to pave. We are red-blooded Americans, we are patriots, and we have plenty to say about the direction this country is headed. We decry voter suppression. We demand equitable access to health care, housing, quality schools and employment. We welcome new Americans with dignity and open arms. And we will never stop fighting for the overhaul of a criminal-justice system with racist foundations.

Democrats Have Lost What Was Left Of Their Minds

Derek Hunter |

Imagine being a Democrat right now. You have the House, and the Republican majority in the Senate is small. In the race for the presidency, you have every advantage with the exception of incumbency. Yes, the economy is booming but there isn’t a mainstream media or cultural institution that isn’t on your side and willing to anything to help you win. All you have to do is not act crazy and you’re 99 percent of the way home. And that’s the problem, there are no longer any sane Democrats.

The House hearing with Robert Mueller on Wednesday was supposed to be their shining moment, their chance to rally the country to their thus far rejected cause. Instead, it was another in a long line of flops. After watching it, I wanted to call a hotline to, as I put it in my podcast, report a shameless display of elder abuse.

It’s true that Mueller didn’t want to be there, but it appears everyone was wrong about the reason why. He’s not “above the fray,” as he was portrayed by liberals, he’s lost a lot of steps. Most shockingly, the hearing exposed that he was, at best, barely involved in the investigation. He was a name to put on the letterhead to give it gravitas and the appearance of bipartisanship.

The hearing left those who watched it with the realization he was an autopen to sign off on subpoenas, letters, and the final report. I’d feel pity for him were there not so much destruction in his wake. No matter how many steps he’s lost, he knew he was driving people into bankruptcy chasing a unicorn and he sat there, silently, hammering paychecks.

But Mueller’s embarrassing testimony wasn’t the only problem for Democrats. They had to polish that turd, no matter what. This was their moment in the sun.

Why Do Democrats Run All Of The Dangerous And Rodent Infested Cities?

Kevin McCullough|

Posted: Jul 28, 2019 10:05 AM

Congressman Elijah Cummings may honestly believe that his district in West Baltimore doesn’t stink.

But it does.

I’ve been there, I’ve seen and smelled it.

Bernie Sanders called it “the third world back” in 2016.

Sometimes the truth hurts. Especially to those bathed, clothed, and dipped in the intoxication of corrupt power, but that’s why sunlight is so helpful.

And disinfecting!

Rep. Cummings, while being very obsessed with Russia, seems utterly bewildered with the idea that anyone could dare question why so many billions of federal dollars flow to places like West Baltimore when they are obviously doing no good.

Look at other cities in similar dilapidation and there holds a unique truth: Democrats run them all.

How long will sewage run down the streets of San Francisco? How long will St. Louis, Detroit, and Baltimore, continue to rotate as the nation’s most dangerous crime infested metros? And how long will federal dollars keep chasing bad money with new?

None of the elected officials seem to know—much less care.

Why would they?

They look and see that Elijah Cummings has been a “public servant” for most of his life yet owns not one but two homes.

Bernie Sanders owns three.

Nancy Pelosi owns at least ten properties, and has a net worth of $29 million. On a salary of $223,000.

Imagine.

But in San Francisco—or the West Coast version of West Baltimore—which is Nancy Pelosi’s home district, you literally can download an app to help navigate the streets with the least amount of fecal matter as possible.

Seattle is just as bad. Los Angeles has zoomed past them both.

And according to the FBI Uniform Crime Report and as reported in the USA Today (from Feb 19, 2019), the top 10 most dangerous cities in America are run by Democrats.

The overwhelming majority of them are also all governed by Democratic Governors. And the Congressional districts represented are also >>30884

majority Democratic.

Did I mention that each of them also has higher unemployment rates than the national average?

In Baltimore, Democrats have run everything for more than four decades. Federal dollars have flowed in, and yet the stench, sight, and symbolism of it all—stinks.

In my life I’ve spent multiple seasons, time, and resources going to the actual third world. The heartbreak in places like Haiti, Guatemala, Ghana and the Congo, is that they have no opportunity to make their lives better. Those economies are largely run by corrupt governments whose only ambition is to use public office to enrich themselves. A lot like Cummings, Sanders, and Pelosi have done.

Seriously? MSM Makes A Sudden Discovery About 'Anchor Babies

Beth Baumann

Posted: Jul 27, 2019 1:05 PM

Conservatives have long said one of the major issues with illegal immigration is the number of pregnant women who come to the United States solely so their child can be born on American soil. They know that a child born in the United States automatically makes the child an American and, because of that, the parents are allowed to stay in our country. And all of them are able to reap the benefits of being an American, including access to various welfare programs.

Liberals and the mainstream media typically ignore that fact, no matter how much it is presented to them. NBC News, however, did something shocking: they actually did an "exposĂŠ" on that very scenario...and acknowledged what conservatives have said for years.

Because of President Donald Trump's agreement with Mexico, those who file asylum claims must remain in Mexico while their case is decided. It's part of the "Remain in Mexico" plan that was recently established.

“More women are arriving pregnant or with babies,” said pastor Gustavo Banda of the Embajadores de Jesús (Ambassadors of Jesus) church, which operates a shelter in Cañón del Alacrán (Scorpion’s Canyon) on the outskirts of Tijuana. “We have a lot of Haitian women and some Central American.”

And some women even turn up pregnant while waiting to get into the United States

In Tijuana, expectant moms hope for U.S. asylum

As the days, weeks and months pass while these women wait, obtaining prenatal care is difficult.

TIJUANA, Mexico — A growing number of expectant mothers are among the migrants coming in daily from Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador — even Haiti — to more than 30 already overflowing shelters in Tijuana, Mexico.

Some women also get pregnant while they wait.

These pregnant women are here because the Trump administration’s “Remain in Mexico” program requires some U.S.-bound asylum applicants to register at ports of entry and then return to Mexican border cities to wait as their claims are processed.

It’s a period of great anxiety, if only because many want their children born in the United States. The U.S. Constitution guarantees that every child born on American soil automatically becomes a U.S. citizen. Mexico also offers birthright citizenship, but it's not exactly the same: A child born in Mexico, regardless of their parents' nationalities, automatically becomes a Mexican citizen when they turn 18.

Democrats struggle to figure out next move against Trump after Mueller hearing falls flat

House Democrats are struggling to figure out their next move against President Trump after their highly anticipated hearing with Robert S. Mueller III fell flat, forcing some Democrats to second-guess their strategy while aggravating divisions in the party over impeachment.

Several centrist Democrats seized on the absence of a major revelation to argue it was time to end House investigations into whether Trump tried to obstruct the former special counsel’s probe and pivot to legislation.

“Anyone who was looking for the smoking gun yesterday didn’t get it,” said Rep. Anthony Brindisi (D-N.Y.), who ousted a Republican incumbent by fewer than 500 votes in last year’s midterm elections. “It’s time to move on and focus on getting some bills passed here that can get signed into law.”

But that plea had no effect on the pro-impeachment Democrats, who dug in, insisting that House oversight of Trump and his administration has been ineffective and pressed for launching proceedings.

John Denver (1985)

John before committee...spot on

The 1985 PMCR Hearings were just another of many examples of liberals flexing their racism on otherwise upstanding Americans.

Led by Tipper Gore - wife of climate-abuser Al Gore - the PMCR, or "Parent Musical Resource Center," was a group of left-wing, liberal, Democrat white women who insisted on shutting down any and all music they didn't "agree" with.

Three years after being called a Nazi (lol) by his ex-producer, John Denver, country music legend and political activist, was called on to provide his personal opinion on the issue.

Bipartisan Senate Report: Obama Failed to Secure U.S. Election Systems, Trump Admin Making Progress

A bipartisan report by the Senate Intelligence Committee documents how the Obama administration did not take effective action as Russia worked to target the U.S. election process.

The same report shows that, under the Trump administration, U.S. agencies have made significant progress in working to secure election systems while vulnerabilities still remain.

Not only were states confused by briefings on election threats by Obama-era agencies, the Department of Homeland Security under President Obama didn’t even tell states that a nation-state actor may have been associated with suspicious IP addresses listed in an FBI FLASH notification on August 18, 2016 about actors purportedly scanning election-related websites, the report relates.

States the report in one damning section: “Given the lack of context, state staff who received the notification did not ascribe any additional urgency to the warning; to them, it was a few more suspect IP addresses among the thousands that were constantly pinging state systems. Very few state IT directors informed stats election officials about the alert.”

The report, which contains some heavily-redacted sections, contains the results of a bipartisan investigation led by Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-N.C.) and Vice Chairman Mark Warner (D-Va.). It was released on Thursday, one day after former special counsel Robert Mueller testified on Capitol Hill about the results of his own report, which found no evidence of any collusion between the Trump administration and Russia while documenting Russian interference attempts.

The bipartisan Senate report did not explicitly indict the Obama administration by name, but it thoroughly documented the many failures of government agencies to secure U.S. election systems prior to the 2016 presidential election.

A key section of the report states that “the Russian government directed extensive activity, beginning in at least 2014 and carrying into at least 2017, against U.S. election infrastructure at the state and local level.”

Prior to the 2016 election, state election officials “who have primacy in running elections were not sufficiently warned or prepared to handle an attack from a hostile nation-state actor,” states the report.

The report related a news-making August 15, 2016 conference call with state election officials in which then-Secretary of DHS Jeh Johnson took heat from some state officials for bringing up the idea of designating the U.S. election systems as critical infrastructure.

Relates the report:

States also reported that the call did not go well. Several states told the Committee that the idea of a critical infrastructure designation surprised them and came without context of a particular threat. Some state officials also did not understand what a critical infrastructure designation meant, in practical terms, and whether it would give the federal government the power to run elections. DHS also did not anticipate a certain level of suspicion from the states toward the federal government. As a State 17 official told the Committee, “When someone says ‘we’re from the government and we’re here to help,’ it’s generally not a good thing.”

Those and other failures contrast with concrete action taken under the Trump administration to secure U.S. election systems.

The report notes that “since 2016, DHS has made great strides in learning how election procedures vary across states and how federal entities can be of most help to states.”

It continues:

Richard Grenell Calls Out Left’s Hypocrisy on Baltimore: Read the New York Times

U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell called out the media and Democrats’ hypocrisy on Baltimore, tweeting a New York Times article from March 2019 on Sunday in response to claims that President Donald Trump’s criticisms of the city were racist.

Trump has taken on House Oversight Committee chair Elijah Cummings over Baltimore’s decay. Democrats have called his criticisms a “racist” attack.

But Baltimore’s dysfunction has been in the spotlight since the Black Lives Matter movement, when a CNN-encouraged riot against police caused law enforcement to pull back from policing in black neighborhoods.

The same phenomenon occurred in other cities, especially where elected Democrats declined to support police and backed protests against them.

“Spikes in homicides in Baltimore, Chicago and the District of Columbia accounted for more than half of the national increase in killings in the 30 largest cities in 2015, according to a final analysis of yearly crime data by New York University School of Law’s Brennan Center for Justice,” the Baltimore Sun noted in April 2016.

The Times magazine article, “The Tragedy of Baltimore,” by Alex MacGillis, described “the crackup of an American city”:

In 2017, [Baltimore] recorded 342 murders — its highest per-capita rate ever, more than double Chicago’s, far higher than any other city of 500,000 or more residents and, astonishingly, a larger absolute number of killings than in New York, a city 14 times as populous. Other elected officials, from the governor to the mayor to the state’s attorney, struggled to respond to the rise in disorder, leaving residents with the unsettling feeling that there was no one in charge. With every passing year, it was getting harder to see what gains, exactly, were delivered by the uprising.

…

The violence and disorder have fed broader setbacks. Gov. Larry Hogan canceled a $2.9 billion rail transit line for West Baltimore, defending the disinvestment in the troubled neighborhood partly by noting that the state had spent $14 million responding to the riots. Target closed its store in West Baltimore, a blow to a part of town short of retail options. The civic compact has so frayed that one acquaintance admitted to me recently that he had stopped waiting at red lights when driving late at night. Why should he, he argued, when he saw young men on dirt bikes flying through intersections while police officers sat in cruisers doing nothing?

MacGillis noted that it was difficult to talk about Baltimore’s problems partly because “the national political discourse lacks a vocabulary for the city’s ills.”

Seattle fights preview battle between Democrats, democratic socialists

By Reid Wilson - 07/28/19 12:25 PM EDT

A pitched battle between mainstream Democrats and more liberal democratic socialists is roiling Seattle, one of the most progressive cities in the country, in a potential preview of the choice Democratic voters face in picking a presidential nominee.

Amid raging debate over the future of the party in Seattle, a city where President Trump won just 8 percent of the vote in 2016, both mainstream Democrats and the most liberal candidates find themselves aligning with the president on some issues.

Like Trump, mainstream Democrats led by Mayor Jenny Durkan are warning of the dangers of socialism, while more liberal candidates consider their most potent enemy to be Amazon, a tech giant targeted by Trump whose growth has changed the face of the city.

Seattle voters will cast ballots in a primary election next month to winnow a field of more than 50 candidates running for council seats in seven districts across the city.

In virtually every one of those races, November’s general election is likely to come down to a choice between a candidate backed by self-described democratic socialists and a candidate aligned with the city’s business community.

Democratic senator intervenes to help pregnant Mexican woman make asylum claim

7/28/2019

A pregnant Mexican migrant was allowed to make her asylum claim after Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) intervened and spoke with U.S. Customers and Border Protection (CBP) officials, the senator said.

Wyden visited a shelter with asylum seekers in JuĂĄrez, Mexico, where he met the pregnant woman and her family. The woman, who he and reports did not identify, is more than eight months pregnant and facing severe complications endangering her life and the life of her unborn child.

“They immediately packed all their belongings and headed up for the border to make sure she could get in the U.S. and get the medical care they needed,” Wyden said in a tweeted video recalling the experience.

She was told by customs officials “things were filled up” and there was “no way she could get in,” Wyden said.

“When they found out I was a United States Senator and that we had a pediatrician with us, they changed their tune,” Wyden said. “Now that individual is going to be able to get the medical care that she so desperately needs.”

The Washington Post reports the woman Wyden helped gain asylum was accompanied by her husband and 3-year-old son.

Along with his visit to the shelter in JuĂĄrez, where migrants wait for six months before their US. immigration court hearing, Wyden toured CBP detention facilities, the paper reports.

“These policies that I’ve seen are not what America is about. And in fact what we saw with respect to the woman who is here today is just a blatant violation of U.S. law,” Wyden told the Post, referring to the pregnant woman.

Wyden told the paper he believes the family would have been turned away if he had not intervened.

The Hill reached out to CBP for comment.

A CBP spokesman told the Post the officer would not have told the family that asylum processing was at capacity if they had said they were Mexican and the mother was pregnant. However, the paper reports the family gave the officer a folder that contained their Mexican birth certificates and identification.

Metering is used to cap the number of people allowed to apply for asylum at ports of entry; Shaw Drake, the policy director American Civil Liberties Union Border Rights Center told the Post Mexicans are exempt from the rule.

Drake told the paper he has seen CPB agents turn Mexican asylum seekers away before.

Transcript suggests Obama White House pressured intelligence agencies to blame Russia

July 27, 2019 by Ty Clevenger

Newly released documents from the FBI suggest that the Obama White House pushed intelligence agencies to publicly blame the Russians for email leaks from the Democratic National Committee to Wikileaks.

This afternoon I received an undated (and heavily redacted) transcript of an interview of James Rybicki, former chief of staff to former FBI Director James Comey, that includes this excerpt: “So we understand that at some point in October of 2016, there was, I guess, a desire by the White House to make some kind of statement about Russia’s…” and then the next page is omitted.

The comment is made by an unidentified prosecutor from the U.S. Office of Special Counsel or “OSC,” not to be confused with the office of former Special Counsel Robert Mueller (the OSC is a permanent office that investigates Hatch Act violations, and Mr. Comey was under investigation for trying to influence the 2016 Presidential election).

The context of the statement makes it all the more interesting, because the OSC prosecutors were noting that the FBI publicized its reactivation of the Clinton email investigation shortly before the 2016 election, and they were wondering why the FBI did not counterbalance that by publicizing the “Russian collusion” investigation into Donald Trump. In that setting, one of the prosecutors then commented that the White House wanted some kind of statement made about Russia. [Continued on page 2].

Bernie Sanders Asks Nation To Please Stop Mailing Him Books On Economics

Oldie but a goodie July 5,2018

NEW YORK, NY—In a late-night show interview Wednesday, Senator Bernie Sanders politely asked the nation to please stop mailing him books on basic economics, revealing that he’s been “absolutely flooded” with works on the most rudimentary concepts of supply and demand.

Sanders made the request after receiving yet another daily shipment of books from well-meaning Americans who simply assumed that he has never read a book on the subject in his life.

“I’ve got 1,200 copies of Human Action, 1,500 copies of Basic Economics, and 4,700 copies of Economics in One Lesson,” the angered senator said. “I’m drowning here.” Sanders also showed the late-night host a small mountain of children’s books on the subject of economics from the easy-to-read Tuttle Twins series, sent to him from Americans who assumed he had somehow missed classroom discussions on the value of a dollar and supply and demand while in elementary school.

Jeffrey Epstein and the doomed dome: Pedophile Island goes quiet as owner awaits sex trafficking charges while new photos show the golden top to mysterious temple is gone.

July 28,2019

The golden dome that formally sat atop Jeffrey Epstein's temple on Little St James is gone in recent photos

A local told DailyMail.com that it went missing around the time that Hurricane Irma hit the island in 2017

It is believed that Epstein had removed the dome prior to the Category 5 storm making landfall

The temple has been of great interest to members of the QAnon community, who had been talking about the island long before Epstein's current arrest

The arrest of Jeffrey Epstein on federal sex trafficking charges earlier this month has turned his two properties off the coast of St Thomas into ghost islands.

New drone footage and photography shows the state of the islands, including the massive amounts of development over on Great St. James and his shockingly bare temple on Little St. James.

Photos obtained by DailyMail.com show the blue-and-white striped structure is suddenly without its golden dome.

PICTURED: US teen, 18, BLINDFOLDED and handcuffed in custody after killing an undercover Italian cop with his friend - as neighbors from their wealthy San Francisco suburb reveal the pair were 'violent' and 'constantly drunk'

Gabriel Christian Natale-Hjorth, 18, and Finnegan Lee Elder, 19, spent a second night in a Rome jail Saturday after the death of officer Mario Cerciello Rega

A photo of Natale-Hjorth shows him blindfolded and handcuffed behind his back

The two teens were high school classmates in Mill Valley, a wealthy suburb

Elder played varsity football while Natale-Hjorth played Lacrosse

Natale-Hjorth invited Elder to Italy, where he has family and visits every summer

Neighbors told how Elder had been sick in front of their home after getting drunk

'When Gabe is on drugs, he's insane. He has a lot of anger,' one classmate said

Elder's family say they 'are shocked and dismayed at the events'

Investigators said Cerciello Rega confronted the boys after a botched drug deal

By Lauren Fruen For Dailymail.com and Associated Press

7/28/2019

One of the American teenagers accused of murdering an undercover Italian police officer during a bungled drug deal was 'illegally blindfolded' before his interrogation.

A photo of Gabriel Christian Natale-Hjorth, 18, shows him handcuffed, with his head bowed and a scarf covering his eyes.

He spent a second night in a Rome jail Saturday with friend Finnegan Lee Elder, 19, after they were both interrogated for hours about their alleged roles in the murder of Vice Brigadier Mario Cerciello Rega.

Natale-Hjorth was said to have been blindfolded 'for a very few minutes, four or five' on Friday just before he was questioned about the fatal stabbing, Provincial Cmdr. Francesco Gargaro said.

Italian police say they have now launched an investigation into the incident with a spokesman confirming: 'We disassociate ourselves with this kind of behavior and we are investigating who was responsible.'

Blindfolding of a suspect 'is illegal. It's not allowed,' Gargaro said. The officer who put the blindfold on committed a 'mistake' but did so to prevent Natale-Hjorth from seeing documents related to the investigation, the commander said.

Natale-Hjorth had been brought in handcuffs to the station from his hotel, Gargaro said. He was interrogated by police and prosecutors without a lawyer there since he hadn't been formally detained as a suspect and Italian law doesn't allow an attorney's presence at that stage, the commander said.

The officer was transferred to a different unit, Gargaro said. The Carabinieri were also investigating who took the photo and how it was leaked. Lawyers for the two Americans were not immediately available for comment.

Sheila Jackson Lee’s Long History Of Being An Entitled ‘Queen

Sheila Jackson Lee has been a congresswoman for over 20 years. However, she acts far more like an arrogant monarch than a humble servant of the people.

The Texas Democrat has regularly abused her power and position to demand and receive special treatment from private companies, demean and harass subordinates, and reap untold benefits of being “The Queen.”

When her abusive behavior comes to light, Jackson Lee often claims her opponents are racist.

Jackson Lee’s most recent abuse of power comes at the expense of teacher Jean-Marie Simon who was allegedly bumped from her first class seat when Jackson-Lee demanded it. Simon was given a voucher for her flight by United and moved to the economy section. On her way to the back of the plane, Simon saw Jackson Lee occupying her seat.

In a Facebook post, Simon says she spoke with a congressman who said Jackson-Lee regularly poaches seats from other passengers.

Trump expected to nominate Texas GOP lawmaker to replace Dan Coats: report

By Justin Wise - 07/28/19 02:04 PM EDT

President Trump is reportedly expected to nominate Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Texas) to replace Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats.

Axios, citing three people familiar with the president's deliberations, reported on the development on Sunday. The news outlet noted that Trump was especially enthusiastic by Ratcliffe's questioning of former special counsel Robert Mueller during his congressional testimony last week.

Ratcliffe denounced some of the findings in Mueller's report during a House Judiciary Committee hearing, saying that it wasn't Mueller's job to "conclusively determine Donald Trump's innocence."

"I agree with Chairman Nadler this morning when he said Donald Trump is not above the law," Ratcliffe said. "But he damn sure should not be below the law which is where Volume II of this report puts him."

Advisers to the president told Axios that Trump had already been considering Ratcliffe for the position before Mueller's testimony. He had also reportedly been on Trump's short list to replace former Attorney General Jeff Sessions following his dismissal last November.

CNN reported last week that Ratcliffe has been under consideration for a job within the administration. Though the report did not specify which position. Advisers stressed to Axios that Trump could still change his mind about the decision.

Coats is expected to step down from his position in the coming days, people familiar with the decision told The New York Times.

The White House and the office of the Director of National Intelligence did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Hill.

Speculation has persisted in recent weeks on whether Coats would leave his position atop the intelligence community. Axios first reported earlier this month that Trump told confidants he was thinking about replacing him.

It was then followed by a report from Politico that Trump had met with Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) about potential replacements for Coats.

Coats at the time dismissed the reports about his potential exit, telling The Hill that the "rumors" were "frustrating."

Ratcliffe is a former federal prosecutor who has served in Congress since 2015. He has been repeatedly critical of how Democrats have responded to Mueller's report on his probe into Russian interference.

Ratcliffe's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Hill.

Mulvaney defends Trump's 'infested' remarks in grilling from Chris Wallace

By Ian Swanson - 07/28/19 09:32 AM EDT

White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney defended President Trump's remarks calling a black congressman's district a "disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess," stating during an interview with Fox News's Chris Wallace that there was nothing racist about the president's comments.

Mulvaney, the acting chief of staff who has also served as Trump's budget director, told Wallace that Trump was right to raise the issue and that "it has absolutely zero to do with race."

Under pointed questioning from Wallace on "Fox News Sunday," Mulvaney said Trump criticized Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) because Cummings had criticized the border and said he would have done the same thing if the criticism had come from Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), a white congressman who is Jewish.

Mulvaney, a former congressman, also doubled down on Trump's remarks, saying, "If I had poverty in my district like they have in Baltimore, if I had crime in my district like they have in Chicago, if I had homelessness in my district like they have in San Francisco, and I spent all of my time in Washington, D.C., chasing down this Mueller investigation, this bizarre impeachment crusade, I'd get fired."

"I think the president is right to raise that," he added. "It has absolutely zero to do with race."

Wallace said there was a "clear pattern here," stating that before Trump's inauguration, he had said another black congressman, Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), should spend time in his "crime infested" district.

He then noted the president's recent criticisms of four Democratic congresswomen, who are all members of minority groups. Trump also used the word "infested" while criticizing those lawmakers, stating that they should “go back” to the “totally broken and crime infested places from which they came.”

Three of the women were born in the United States.

"Infested. It sounds like vermin. It sounds subhuman. And theses are all six members of Congress who are people of color," Wallace said.

Mulvaney responded by saying he thought Wallace was "spending way too much time reading between the lines."

"I'm not reading between the lines. I'm reading the lines," Wallace interjected.

Mulvaney responded that if Schiff said the same thing as Cummings, Trump would be talking the same way about him.

When Wallace expressed doubt that Trump would talk about Schiff's "crime-infested, rodent-infested district," Mulvaney said that "he very well could" and that it would have zero to do with Schiff being Jewish.

Pressed on whether he was comfortable with Trump's rhetoric, Mulvaney asked Wallace if he'd seen pictures of Cummings's district.

A short time later, the two shifted subjects to this week's testimony by former special counsel Robert Mueller.

The president launched the controversy with Cummings on Saturday by tweeting about the lawmaker, who as chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee has led investigations into the administration.

"Cummings has been a brutal bully, shouting and screaming at the great men & women of Border Patrol about conditions at the Southern Border, when actually his Baltimore district is FAR WORSE and more dangerous,” Trump wrote in the tweet.

You know Paul Ryan is pushing Fox News to jump the shark when…. After a few minutes of insufferable UniParty propaganda, even CBS is less fake news.

Margaret Brennan clutches her pearls at the outrage of Trump tweets and then settles in to the typical DC UniParty narrative: ‘We are spending too much, but lets spend more on the Central American migrants.’ Mamet was correct: to retain positions that are inherently hypocritical, leftists have to disconnect their hypothalamus, sever their hippocampus, and pretend not to know things: aka Cognitive Dissonance.

How Mueller’s Lawyers Spun the OLC Guidance on Indicting a Sitting President

By Andrew C. McCarthy

July 28, 2019 6:30 AM

After Mueller, it is worth another look at its role in the report and its fallout

T

his is Part Two of a two-part series. In Part One, we took a look at the OLC guidance that bars the indictment of a sitting president. (The OLC is the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel.) In particular, we looked at (a) how, in investigating President Trump for purported obstruction, special counsel Robert Mueller’s staff distorted the guidance into a prohibition against even considering whether an offense occurred; and (b) the futile hope of congressional Democrats, during Wednesday’s hearings, that Mueller would contradict his final report on this point.

In Part Two, we explore why Mueller’s staff of very able lawyers, many of them activist Democrats, twisted the OLC guidance. (Spoiler: Their priority was to get their evidence to Congress, intact and as quickly as possible, in hopes of fueling an impeachment drive, or at least damaging Trump politically.) We also analyze how attorney general Bill Barr deftly dealt with the Mueller staff’s gamesmanship.

As we observed at the end of Part One, Mueller’s report makes the whopper of the claim that prosecutors construed to OLC guidance to forbid them to make a charging decision on obstruction because they were trying to protect President Trump.

How’s that?

Well, Justice Department protocols prohibit prosecutors from prejudicing suspects by publicizing the evidence against them unless and until they are formally charged. The idea is that the government must refrain from speaking until it files an indictment. For at that point, the person becomes an “accused” under the Constitution, vested with all the due process guarantees our law provides: assistance of counsel, confrontation of witnesses, subpoena power — the full array of rights to challenge the government’s indictment.

his is Part Two of a two-part series.

NOW WATCH: 'Mueller Gives Pro-Impeachment Democrats Nothing to Work With'

From this commonsense proposition, Mueller’s staff leapt to an untenable conclusion: Because the OLC guidance prevents the Justice Department from formally charging a sitting president, poor President Trump would have been denied his due process protections if Mueller had recommended an indictment: It would be as if the government slimed him by publicizing the evidence but denied him his day in court to clear his name.

If this doesn’t insult the intelligence, nothing will. Sliming the uncharged president by publicizing the evidence is exactly what Mueller’s team did.

The special counsel’s staff wrote a 448-page tome, overflowing with details about a traitorous collusion plot that never happened and the obstruction of an investigation that was never actually impeded in the slightest. Even though the regulations call for a confidential report from the special counsel to the attorney general, the Mueller report was patently written with the intention that it would be transmitted to Congress and the public. (Indeed, even before the report was submitted to the Justice Department, various industrious publishers planned to make it available for sale.)

State is 'gold mine' for human trafficking

The next time you travel to Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport to board a plane, it may be possible that a young woman or teenage girl in the area is being kidnapped to be sold into the human sex trafficking trade.

According to the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County’s “Poverty Amidst Plenty” report, the county is in the top five jurisdictions in Maryland for sex trafficking. The report states that the 50-mile radius surrounding BWI is becoming known as the third-most lucrative area in the state for trafficking.

The Maryland Human Trafficking Task Force reports that victims of human sex trafficking and the dealers themselves have told law enforcement that Maryland is a “gold mine” for human trafficking.

The third annual Maryland Child Trafficking Conference will be held Aug. 7 at Towson University.

But Maryland is only part of a worldwide crisis. In 2014, the United Nations established July 30 as World Day Against Trafficking in Persons Day. The designation was established to “protect and preserve human rights” and “promote and create awareness about human trafficking and its issues among the people.”

The United Nations defines human sex trafficking as “the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of persons, by means of the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation,” according to the U.N. website.

Dangers of the Internet

Police Cpl. Christopher Heid has been working with the Child Recovery Unit of the Maryland State Police for eight years. The unit’s mission is to locate missing children; identify and rescue child victims of human sex trafficking; and arrest traffickers.

“Basically, we do all we can do to raise awareness,” Heid said.

The unit works daily with the FBI and the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force to “conduct reactive and proactive human trafficking investigation,” Heid said. “We do training for law enforcement, social workers and other private entities throughout the state.”

The victims of human sex traffickers are mostly female and range from ages 14 to 16. Children in foster care or constant runaways are the most vulnerable, Heid said.

“Also, kids with self-esteem issues are most vulnerable as well.”

Althea Whieldon, leader of the Trafficking In Persons Working Group of the Anne Arundel County Commission for Women, said many victims are lured through the internet and social media.

“Simply put, the internet has created a virtual reality, where individuals can pretend to be someone other than who they really are,” Whieldon said. “Traffickers use social media to ‘befriend’ those who are unaware of the dangers or who are looking for someone to make them feel valued and loved.”

Luring Victims

Once a trafficker makes contact, he or she can lure a young person to meet them at a location away from home or safety.

The Maryland Human Trafficking Task Force reports that major highways with numerous rest stops, truck stops and bus stations have all proven to be primary locations for traffickers to exploit their victims. The task force has identified incidents of sex trafficking at Maryland truck stops.

Data from the National Human Trafficking Resource Center suggests that approximately 70 percent of human trafficking incidents occur in the nation’s truck stops.

Senator John Kennedy said the “four horsemen” of the Democratic party’s internal apocalypse were the “reason there are directions on a shampoo bottle”.

I doubled over in laughter. Then I watched the interview with “the squad”.

Rashida Tlaib whined about Trump being a “bully”. AOC called America a “story. Ayanna Pressley called the president “predictable” despite her and her colleagues constantly appearing surprised or taken aback by his actions. Ilhan Omar refused to retract her wildly anti-Semitic comments.

Gaslighting America into believing they’re the helpless victims of a pitchfork-wielding president.

Then there was Yahoo News basically calling actor Chris Pratt a white supremacist for wearing a t-shirt with a Gadsden Flag on it for a veteran’s charity.

It’s only been about 10 days since the Betsy Ross flag debacle. Megan Rapinoe’s U.S. flag would still be on the ground were it not for her lesbian teammate who picked it up. I mention her sexuality only because we were expected to be mad about that, for some reason. No one was.

Everyone’s gone nuts.

Some stealth editing going on over at @YahooEnt.

They know they’ve gone nuts because they stealthily try to go un-nuts, having gone nuts already. Check the stealth edit on the Yahoo News article.

Originally: “Chris Pratt criticised for ‘white supremacist’ T-shirt’.

Later: “Chris Pratt criticised for T-shirt choice’.

You can’t go un-nuts once we’ve seen you go nuts.

That applies to Starbucks, Nike, Oreos, Yahoo, CNN, all of you.

…

For the right, it’s an example of how “everything is racist to the left”.

For the left it is an opportunity to shift the Overton window further. To create consternation about a flag that requires no consternation. To undermine the founding of America by undermining its symbols.

That’s all it took.

And that’s why all it takes to upset the political apple cart is those who John Kennedy referred to as the Democrats’ four horsemen: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib, and Ilhan Omar.

One media company rattled the cage of another – for exposure, clicks, and profit – and America got sucked into a heated political war as a result.

The same reason Nike snubbed the Betsy Ross flag. For profit.

And that’s what the ‘Squad’ are doing to America.

Riling her up. Dividing her. Causing consternation and upheaval wherever they go, and through whatever they say.

For profit.

In their case, it’s not so much financial gain they’re after. It’s power. That’s what the whole internal fight they’re having with Nancy Pelosi is about. Power. The left craves power as the right craves autonomy.

But they’re forgetting those now “racist” words: Don’t Tread On Me.

And that’s why Trump continues to goad them. Because Americans don’t like being tread upon. And he knows elevating them provides his best hope of waking people up to the danger of a Democrat president, House, and Senate in 2020.
