'''FEMA to conduct nationwide EAS test on Aug. 7

By SAUL A. FLORES News West'''

BULLHEAD CITY — The Federal Emergency Management Agency will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System at 11:20 a.m. MST next Thursday.

FEMA said that the test will assess the readiness of the infrastructure for the distribution of a national message and determine whether improvements

are needed.

FEMA said that the intent of this year’s tests to evaluate the readiness of the national alerting capability in the absence of internet connectivity.

The test will begin with a broadcast of the national test message from radio stations, called Primary Entry Point stations, that participate with FEMA in the National Public Warning System. Other radio and television broadcasts in each state that monitor PEP stations will receive and broadcast the test message so that within minutes the test message should be conducted by all radio, television, cable, wireline service providers and direct broadcast satellite service providers nationwide.

FEMA said that the audio test message will be similar to regular monthly EAS test messages with which the public is familiar: “This is a test of the National Emergency Alert System. This system was developed by broadcast and cable operates in voluntary cooperation with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Federal Communications Commission and local authorities to keep you informed in the event of an emergency. If this had been an actual emergency an official message would have followed the tone alert you heard at the start of this message. No action is required.”

The EAS test on Aug. 7 is the fifth time that the test has been conducted nationwide, according to FEMA. Previous EAS national tests were conducted on November 2011, September 2016 and 2017 and October 2018 in collaboration with the FCC, radio and television stations and emergency management officials.

Trump's Judicial Legacy

August 2, 20197:03 AM ET

President Trump has now appointed nearly one in four of all federal circuit court judges, cementing an important part of his legacy. The picks are far less diverse than his predecessor's.

STEVE INSKEEP, HOST:

The president of the United States may be a master of distraction, with one dramatic story unfolding after another, but when it comes to judges, his administration has been very disciplined. In a little over two years in office, the Trump administration has appointed almost 1 out of every 4 federal appeals court judges in the United States. Earlier this week, the president called it his legacy. NPR's Carrie Johnson reports on how the White House is starting to reshape the bench.

CARRIE JOHNSON, BYLINE: Federal judges serve for life, so President Trump's achievements on judicial nominations could represent his most enduring contribution.

BRIAN FALLON: The sheer number of people that Trump is installing at a very young age ensures that the legacy of Trumpism is going to be with us for the next three to four decades.

JOHNSON: Brian Fallon is executive director at Demand Justice. It's a left-leaning group designed to fight Trump's judge nominations and to rally Democrats. So far, the White House and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell are dominating in that arena. Trump has installed nearly 25% of all federal appeals court judges and about 15% of all district court judges.

KRISTINE LUCIUS: What stands out to me is that President Trump is deliberately nominating the least diverse class of judicial nominees that we have seen in modern history.

JOHNSON: Kristine Lucius of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights says there's something unusual about them.

LUCIUS: It is stunning to me that 2 1/2 years in he has not nominated a single African American or a single Latinx to the appellate courts.

JOHNSON: In all, around 70% of Trump's judge appointees are white men. Dozens of those nominees have refused to answer whether they support the Supreme Court holding in Brown v. Board of Education. That 1954 opinion said racial segregation in schools was unconstitutional. Conservative legal analyst Ed Whalen says there are good reasons why some judge candidates balk at those questions.

ED WHALEN: Well, I think there's a game being played here, and the critics are part of that game. It's quite clear that what Democratic senators' aims do with that questioning is say, well, if you're going to answer questions about Brown, why won't you answer questions about Roe?

JOHNSON: Whalen is talking about Roe v. Wade, the decision that legalized abortion. Abortion rights groups worry that ruling is now under attack from a new generation of judges with ties to the conservative Federalist Society.

The only black House Republican, a critic of President Donald Trump’s, has joined a growing list of GOP lawmakers not seeking reelection next year, jarring the party’s efforts to woo minority voters and recapture House control

WASHINGTON — The only black House Republican, a critic of President Donald Trump’s, has joined a growing list of GOP lawmakers not seeking reelection next year, jarring the party’s efforts to woo minority voters and recapture House control.

Rep. Will Hurd, a moderate Texan who’s split with Trump over race and immigration, became the ninth House Republican to say he or she will depart and the sixth in just over a week. Those retirements — and Republicans say there are more to come — will only complicate the GOP’s pathway to gaining the minimum 18 seats it will need to grab the chamber’s majority in the November 2020 elections.

Hurd, 41, personifies some problems his party faces as the campaign season gears up: He is among several junior lawmakers to abruptly abandon vulnerable seats and is a visible symbol of the GOP’s struggle to shed its image as a bastion for white men.

While the former CIA agent’s written announcement late Thursday said he was pursuing an opportunity in technology and national security, he added, “I will stay involved in politics to grow a Republican Party that looks like America.” He was not specific.

Hurd’s exit puts the GOP ahead of its pace in 2018, when 34 of its members declined to seek reelection — the party’s most retirements since at least 1930. It also underscored a distaste among many Republicans for life as the House minority party, today’s razor-sharp partisanship and Trump’s tantrums and tweets.

Republicans say they don’t expect this election’s retirements to reach last year’s levels. But the recent departures put perhaps four additional GOP seats in play and suggest an underlying unease within the party.

“There’s a mood of tremendous frustration with the lack of accomplishment,” Rep. Paul Mitchell, R-Mich., said in an interview this week, days after stunning colleagues when he said he’s leaving after just two House terms. Mitchell, 62, blamed leaders of both parties for prioritizing politics over problem solving.

Border Chief Reports that 5,800 “Fake Families” were Discovered at the Border

Posted on August 2, 2019

The Acting Commissioner of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Mark Morgan revealedto a Senate committee on Tuesday that 5,800 “fake families” were discovered to have been trying to enter the U.S. illegally this year.

Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) questioned Morgan during a Senate Homeland Security hearing about the border crisis, asking him “Our laws prevent us from holding people more than 20 days and because we can’t get the information we’re probably releasing them even sooner than that in many cases, correct?”

Morgan responded, “With respect to family units, since March of this year, United States Border Patrol has been releasing family units directly so in some cases they’re being released in under 48 hours into […]

NEC Director Larry Kudlow -vs- U.S. CoC President Tom Dohonue…

Posted on August 2, 2019 by sundance

With President Trump announcing an additional ten percent tariff on $300 billion of Chinese products, the Chamber of Commerce worm, Tom Donohue, comes out to oppose.

An interesting juxtaposition between two interviews. The first with National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow, and the counter point by CoC President Dohohue:

In the next interview Donohue surfaces… he has no choice. Tom Donohue is paid tens of millions by the Wall Street multinationals to retain the current exploitative system of global trade. Donohue has no influence over President Trump.

In the Clinton/Clinton, Bush/Bush, Obama/Obama terms, Tom Donohue was allowed to purchase control, and write the trade language that perpetuated the benefit to those who paid him for trade policy. Three administration’s sub-contracted the work to the CoC.

As a consequence, over the past 25 years the Chamber of Commerce actually wrote the rules, regulations, language and details within the trade deals. That language was written by the CoC to the benefit of those who paid for the terms (Wall Street Corporations) regardless of impact to the U.S. economy or worker.

President Trump stopped this process.

President Trump’s economic team (USTR and Commerce) took back control over the trade negotiation process, and only the U.S. economic team writes the trade language. Wall Street has been cut out of the process. This is the reason for so much of the anger directed toward President Trump and the global trade reset.

Woman who threw drink at Matt Gaetz pleads guilty

By Jessica Campisi - 08/02/19 04:41 PM EDT

A woman reportedly pleaded guilty on Thursday to assault after she threw a drink at GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz (Fla.) at a town hall event in June.

Amanda Kondrat’yev, 35, pleaded guilty in Pensacola, Fla., CBS Miami reports. Kondrat’yev faces up to a year in prison and will face sentencing on Oct. 17.

Kondrat’yev was part of a group of protesters outside a June town hall that Gaetz attended, and she reportedly held a sign that read “Gaetz wipe the blood off your hands, A+ rating NRA, save our kids vote Gaetz out 2020,” referring the the congressman's rating by the National Rifle Association, Roll Call reports.

When Gaetz, an outspoken supporter of President Trump, left the event, a drink came flying out of the crowd and appeared to hit him in the arm.

It was unclear from video whether the drink actually spilled on Gaetz, but the congressman is seen reacting to being struck from behind and turning to point to one of the protesters.

Gaetz said after the incident that he was pressing charges out of fear that similar things would happen to him or his staff in the future.

“If there are no consequences, then maybe it's me getting hit with a drink one time, but what if it's a member of my staff? What if instead of a drink it's acid or urine?” he said during a Fox News appearance.

Trump casts uncertainty over top intelligence role

By Morgan Chalfant - 08/02/19 06:24 PM

President Trump has created massive uncertainty about who will serve in his top intelligence post — even on an interim basis.

On Friday, Trump abruptly dropped plans to tap Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Texas) to replace outgoing Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Daniel Coats, and he has not yet announced who will be acting DNI after Coats leaves the administration later this month. The moves fuel concerns that Trump will try to circumvent a federal statute requiring that Sue Gordon, as Coats’s deputy, assume his duties.

Trump told reporters Friday afternoon that he likes Gordon and that she would be “considered” for the acting role, indicating a decision would be made in the coming days.

“Sue will be there now and certainly she will be considered for the acting," Trump said.

Meanwhile, a person familiar with the process told The Hill earlier Friday that the White House is weighing removing the career intelligence officer so Trump can name someone else as acting DNI.

A move to pass over or oust Gordon would be met with frustration among lawmakers on Capitol Hill who have built relationships with her. Some have emphasized their respect for Gordon in recent days and noted that the law states she should replace Coats when he leaves his post on Aug. 15.

“The statute is very clear, the deputy takes over as acting,” Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-N.C.) told reporters Thursday.

When asked what would happen if the White House ignores the statute, Burr replied, “It’s a legal issue.”

Legal experts agree, pointing to the 2004 Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act, which states that the principal deputy director of national intelligence “shall act” as DNI during a vacancy in that position.

They say that outweighs the Federal Vacancies Reform Act, another law that gives the president broader discretion generally in choosing officials to fill acting roles.

“I think there would be serious legal questions about the validity of the appointment of any acting DNI who isn’t sue Gordon,” said Steve Vladeck, a University of Texas law professor. “But, it’s not clear to me who would raise them.”

Congress has limited recourse to protest such a move. Lawmakers could, for example, threaten to withhold funding for programs or impeach the acting director who is chosen, but such options are unlikely to be politically viable.

Rand Paul pushed for Iranian diplomat to meet with Trump

: report

By Tal Axelrod - 08/02/19 09:38 PM EDT

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) reportedly worked to set up an Oval Office meeting between President Trump and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif last month before the top Iranian diplomat was targeted by sanctions from the Trump administration.

The New Yorker reported Friday, citing U.S. and Iranian sources, that Paul and a senior adviser met with Zarif for an hourlong conversation in mid-July in New York, as the Iranian foreign minister traveled there for a United Nations summit.

Zarif reportedly offered ideas on how to reduce tensions surrounding Iran’s enrichment of uranium beyond the limits of an Obama-era nuclear pact and the country’s involvement in the bombing of oil tankers in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Among the ideas reportedly floated was the prospect that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei could issue a fatwa, or religious edict, forbidding the production or use of nuclear weapon. Zarif also pitched resuming cooperation based on the 2015 nuclear agreement, from which Trump withdrew the U.S. in 2018, in exchange for sanctions relief.

It was then that Paul pitched the idea of meeting with Trump to relay his suggestions, the magazine reported. U.S., Iranian and diplomatic sources told The New Yorker that Trump had authorized Paul to extend the Oval Office invite as early as that week.

A White House official declined to comment about the invitation for the magazine's report. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Hill.

Trump has said that he authorized Paul to negotiate with Iran to curb tensions between Washington and Tehran, saying the Kentucky Republican asked if he could get involved.

Zarif reportedly told Paul he would have to send the idea of an Oval Office meeting up the flag pole in Tehran but expressed concern that the conversation would produce little more than a photo opportunity.

The reported moves come as tensions between the two countries have skyrocketed in recent weeks after Iran sped up its uranium enrichment, bombed the oil tankers and shot down an unmanned U.S. surveillance drone.

Trump said he had authorized a retaliatory strike in response to the drone downing but aborted the operation after learning that 150 Iranians could be killed.

Far-right activist Laura Loomer announces 2020 congressional bid

By Jessica Campisi - 08/02/19 09:18 PM EDT

Far-right activist Laura Loomer announced Friday that she was launching a congressional bid, filing to run in a heavily Democratic district north of Miami.

Loomer, who has come under fire for anti-Muslim comments, has filed to run as a Republican in Florida’s 21st District, which is currently represented by Rep. Lois Frankel (D-Fla.). Frankel, an outspoken critic of President Trump, ran unopposed in 2018.

“My opponent cares far more about radical leftist special interests, her anti-Semitic colleagues, and protecting criminal illegal aliens from deportation than about her district and constituents here in Florida who she’s supposed to be working for, not against,” Loomer said in a statement.

Karen Giorno, who served as the Florida state director for Trump’s 2016 campaign, will lead Loomer’s House bid, according to the announcement.

Loomer has generated backlash over past anti-Muslim remarks and has faced numerous bans on online platforms.

She was kicked off PayPal in February and was previously kicked off Twitter. She said she has also been banned from GoFundMe and Venmo, and she was banned from Uber and Lyft after calling for the creation of a new rideshare app that does not employ Muslims.

“Big-Tech censorship of conservatives is an issue of growing importance to Americans,” Loomer wrote in the statement. “Tech titans’ censorship … makes it clear that Republicans are under attack.”

Facebook Wants To Read Your Mind

Authored by Mac Slavo via SHTFplan.com,

Facebook is one step closer to reading your mind. The social media giant has become one step closer to developing a working brain-computer interface, capable of reading users’ thoughts.

CNBC reported that Facebook has taken yet another step in developing its brain-computer interface, with the company’s Reality Labs division working alongside researchers from the University of California, San Francisco to develop a device that can decode speech directly from the human brain onto a screen. A new report published in the journal Nature Communications reveals that researchers are becoming closer than ever to connecting human brains directly to computers.

Cuomo Goes Ballistic On Guns

Authored by James Fite via LibertyNation.com,

The Second Amendment hit with another round of lead poisoning in The Empire State...

Governor Andrew Cuomo took a few potshots at the already dying right to keep and bear arms in The Empire State as he signed more gun control bills into law. Surprise, surprise. New York is hardly a bastion of respect for the Second Amendment and has more than its share of “common sense” firearms restrictions. While anyone with actual good sense already knows better than to let a Democrat politician around their guns, this is as good a time as any to recall that Liberty Nation’s Graham J Noble was and still is correct: The party of progressives is absolutely out to disarm us.

Lock ‘Em Up

Gun owners in New York are no strangers to safe storage laws, though the rules vary depending on where in the state they live. But under the new measure signed Tuesday, July 30, anyone who has a firearm in a house with a minor under the age of 16 has about two months to lock up their guns – without exception.

“These measures continue New York’s legacy of enacting the strongest gun laws in the nation by helping keep firearms out of the hands of children,” Gov. Cuomo bragged – and yes, he actually boasts about infringing liberty more than any other state in the union.

Air Force to deploy ground-based lasers in first field test of ‘directed energy’ weapon

The Air Force announced Friday it will soon deploy two ground-based laser weapons to an undisclosed location to test how they can be used against small drones, the service’s first “operational field test” of an experimental “directed energy” weapon.

On Friday afternoon, the Air Force announced a $23 million sole-source contract for two of Raytheon’s High Energy Laser Weapons Systems, through which the systems are to be tested for 12 months in an undisclosed “contested environment” outside the continental United States.

“What we really want to do is figure out how we can deploy these systems in an environment where our warfighters work and train every day,” said Evan Hunt, director of high energy laser and counter-UAS at Raytheon. (UAS stands for unmanned aerial system.)

The 10-kilowatt lasers are to be mounted on small ground-based vehicles and aimed using an interface similar to a video game controller. The prototype laser weapons were built by Raytheon and incorporate a range of components from the commercial technology industry, including high-performance lithium-ion batteries, the same type used in electric vehicles.

Because laser weapons could fire constantly without wasting ammunition, military technology experts have theorized they could one day be useful in combating the small, remotely operated quadcopter drones that ISIS has used. They are also expected to be an effective counter against swarming attack drones, a concept that a handful of countries are exploring.

“The fact that it’s a laser weapon allows you to put energy in target at the speed of light. It can be an instantaneous heating event,” said Michael Jirjis, who leads the Air Force’s directed energy experimentation projects.

Jirjis later said in an email that the test will be the first “operational field assessment” of a laser weapon.

He said the effort is the first Air Force deployment “for an operational field assessment of lasers for counter UAS and the first time we have the entire AF Enterprise intimately engaged across the acquisition community, test centers, operators, and headquarters.”

Hong Kong Police Fire Tear Gas As Protesters Surround Station

Bloomberg TicToc

Published on Aug 3, 2019

Hong Kong on Saturday entered the second of four straight days of rallies, with thousands of pro-police demonstrators gathering on one side of the harbor and thousands of anti-government protesters on the other.

The protest movement that began as weekend marches has shifted form and become a part of daily life, with unrest is growing in the Asian financial hub. Last week saw violent clashes downtown between riot police and demonstrators marching toward China’s local government headquarters.

The arrests of 49 people there -- including 44 on a colonial-era rioting charge that carries a 10-year prison term -- signal the city’s Beijing-backed government is heeding calls for a stronger response, bolstered by support from Chinese authorities.

Demonstrations began nearly nine weeks ago over opposition to legislation easing extraditions to China, and demands have since widened to include Chief Executive Carrie Lam’s resignation, the release of people detained at previous protests and an inquiry into the police’s use of force.

Police fired tear gas to dispel protesters who had surrounded a police station in the Tsim Sha Tsui area, a shopping district that attracts many Chinese tourists. Protesters had set a fire near the station and hurled bricks at the outpost. Demonstrators had also blocked Nathan Road, the main thoroughfare in Kowloon, from Tsim Sha Tsui to Mong Kok. Riot police were also out in number trying to clear protesters from the Mong Kok district

Former Google Engineer: Google Will Try to Prevent Trump from Being Re-elected

Friday on Fox News Channel’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” former Google engineer Kevin Cernekee argued there was political bias within the tech giant.

Cernekee claimed to have been bullied and ultimately fired for his right-wing beliefs. However, Cernekee said it was his view that Google would attempt to thwart President Donald Trump’s re-election in 2020.

Partial transcript as follows:

CARLSON: How ideological is the management at Google?

CERNEKEE: It’s highly ideological. You can see bias at every level at the organization. One thing that I noticed that just handling routine issues is plagued with bias. Like they will get a report, an email with a liberal reporter complaining about something and they will jump on it and they will fix the issue very, very quickly. In contrast, one thing that I saw when I worked there was if you do a Google search for “Crippled America,” which is Donald Trump’s book you would get results that would show “Mein Kampf” instead of “Crippled America.” And I reported that I filed a bug, I escalated it, I tried to run it up the chain. They took nine months to fix that bug. They just stalled at every opportunity. They assigned it to people who no longer work there. They made every excuse in the book to avoid taking down something that made Donald Trump look bad. And I saw a number of incidents just like that.

CARLSON: Do you think that Google will attempt to influence the election outcome. Attempt to prevent Trump from being re-elected?

CERNEKEE: I do believe so. I think that’s a major threat. They have openly stated that they think 2016 was a mistake. They thought Trump should have lost in 2016. They really want Trump to lose in 2020. That’s their agenda. They have very biased people running every level of the company. They have quite a bit of control over the political process. That’s something we should really worry about.

Biden, Inc.: How ‘Middle Class’ Joe’s family cashed in on the family name

https://twitter.com/DonaldJTrumpJr/status/1157661867034259457

The day the Bidens took over Paradigm Global Advisors was a memorable one.

In the late summer of 2006 Joe Biden’s son Hunter and Joe’s younger brother, James, purchased the firm. On their first day on the job, they showed up with Joe’s other son, Beau, and two large men and ordered the hedge fund’s chief of compliance to fire its president, according to a Paradigm executive who was present.

After the firing, the two large men escorted the fund’s president out of the firm’s midtown Manhattan office, and James Biden laid out his vision for the fund’s future. “Don’t worry about investors,” he said, according to the executive, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, citing fear of retaliation. “We've got people all around the world who want to invest in Joe Biden.”

At the time, the senator was just months away from both assuming the chairmanship of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and launching his second presidential bid. According to the executive, James Biden made it clear he viewed the fund as a way to take money from rich foreigners who could not legally give money to his older brother or his campaign account. “We've got investors lined up in a line of 747s filled with cash ready to invest in this company,” the executive remembers James Biden saying.

At this, the executive recalled, Beau Biden, who was then running for attorney general of Delaware, turned bright red. He told his uncle, “This can never leave this room, and if you ever say it again, I will have nothing to do with this.”

A spokesman for James and Hunter Biden said no such episode ever occurred. Beau Biden died in 2015, at 46.

But the recollection of an effort to cash in on Joe’s political ties is consistent with other accounts provided by other former executives at the fund.

Report: Foxconn Considers Sale of $8.8 Billion China Plant

Foxconn, the Taiwan-based electronics manufacturer, is considering the sale of its new $8.8 billion display panel factory in China, according to a Friday-published Reuters report citing “people familiar with the matter.”

Foxconn supplies components to electronics manufacturers including Apple, BlackBerry, Dell, Google, Huawei, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Microsoft, Motorola, Sony, and Toshiba. It is looking for a buyer for its aforementioned liquid crystal display (LCD) factory in Guangzhou, China, according to Reuters.

“It would mark one of its largest divestments from China,” assessed Reuters of Foxconn’s possible sale of its Chinese LCD factory, linking the development to “the protracted trade war between Washington and Beijing.”

On Thursday, President Donald Trump announced that his administration would implement a 10 percent tariff on $300 billion of imports from China previously exempted from his latest import duties.

Reuters attributes Foxconn’s contemplations to Trump’s trade policies toward China:

The trade war has disrupted technology global supply chains in a major way, forcing Foxconn to review its own. That and slowing demand for large-screen televisions and monitors had prompted Foxconn’s management to seek a buyer for the LCD plant, one of the sources familiar with the management’s thinking said.

Japanese electronics manufacturer Sharp — which makes sensors, camera modules and screens for Apple’s iPhones — ended plans to build a display-manufacturing factory in China, opting instead to locate in Vietnam, according to a Friday report from Nikkei Asian Review:

Sharp said Thursday it has scrapped plans to produce displays for the American market in China and will instead build a new plant in Vietnam in order to avoid new tariffs being imposed in the long-simmering trade dispute between Washington and Beijing.

Exclusive — Kevin McCarthy Details GOP Plan to Retake House Majority: 31 Democrats Sit in Districts Donald Trump Won

Republicans only need to net win back 20 seats from Democrats to retake their majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy broke down the GOP plan to do just that in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News that aired Saturday morning.

The one-hour-long in-studio exclusive interview which aired on Breitbart News Saturday and will air again on Breitbart News Sunday on SiriusXM 125 the Patriot Channel, is the first and most comprehensive the House’s leading Republican has given detailing such plans by the GOP.

In addition to the political focus in this interview, McCarthy also discussed immigration policy and tech policy with Breitbart News. McCarthy laid out the numbers that Republicans need to hit to win back their majority in 2020 alongside President Donald Trump’s efforts to win re-election.

“There are 31 seats that Democrats sit in today that President Trump carried,” McCarthy said. “Of those 31, 13 of them President Trump carried by more than six points. So, here you have the socialist wing of the party trying to take them further left, when the only way they have the majority is actually winning in Republican areas—areas that would be swing districts.”

Currently, Republicans hold 198 seats in the House. A majority in the House is 218 seats. So, if Republicans take back those 13 seats from Democrats in districts that Trump won by more than six percent, and seven more from the remaining 18 districts that Democrats represent that Trump won—while holding what they currently have—or find some other way to net gain 20 seats, they can retake the majority in 2020.

The 13 districts currently represented by Democrats that Trump won by more than six percent are as follows: Minnesota’s 7th district, New York’s 22nd, Oklahoma’s 5th, South Carolina’s 1st, Maine’s 2nd, New Mexico’s 2nd, New York’s 11th, Pennsylvania’s 8th, New York’s 19th, Michigan’s 8th, Utah’s 4th, Virginia’s 7th, and New Jersey’s 3rd.

The other 18 districts currently represented by Democrats in which Trump defeated Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton include: New Jersey’s 2nd, Wisconsin’s 3rd, Michigan’s 11th, Iowa’s 2nd, Illinois’ 14th, Iowa’s 1st, Iowa’s 3rd, Virginia’s 2nd, Pennsylvania’s 17th, New York’s 18th, New Hampshire’s 1st, Georgia’s 6th, Minnesota’s 2nd, Arizona’s 1st, New Jersey’s 5th, Nevada’s 3rd, New Jersey’s 11th, and Illinois’ 17th.

18 Shot at Texas Walmart as Police Warn of Active Shooter

Reports

By Zachary Stieber

August 3, 2019 Updated: August 3, 2019

An active shooter was reported at a Walmart in Texas on Aug. 3 and a local news outlet said that 18 people were shot inside.

The El Paso Police Department warned of an active shooter starting at 11 a.m.MDT, telling people to avoid the area near the Cielo Vista Mall.

A number of streets were closed in the area as police hunted for the shooter and ambulances rushed to the scene.

KTSM reported that 18 people were shot inside the Walmart. It said that the extent of the injuries was not yet known, adding: “details are limited at this time.”

The El Paso Times said it had not been able to confirm how many people had been shot.

Witness Rey Holgin told CBS that he was close to entering the Walmart when he heard at least 10 gunshots.

He said he thought he saw two people with guns and that one person, an elderly woman, collapsed, but he was unsure if she was shot.

He wrote on Twitter there were “15+ shots.”

Another user wrote, “so many people got shot,” while another claimed there was a shooter with an AK-47.

At least four ambulances were seen in the area along with a slew of police vehicles. The Dallas field division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives said it was responding to the scene to assist local law enforcement.

According to the Simon Property Group, which owns the Cielo Vista Mall, it El Paso’s “main shopping destination” and is located at 8401 Gateway Blvd Way on the East Side of the city.

“It serves the nearby communities of Socorro, Fabens, Ft. Bliss and the International City of Juarez, Mexico,” the company stated.

Stores inside include Dillard’s, an Apple Store, Sephora, Forever 21, and H&M.

The Walmart is not located inside but is located nearby.

Video footage showed shoppers inside the mall being told to put their hands up and being escorted outside by law enforcement officials with firearms.

Feds Charge 90 People, Seize Over 51 Guns, Drugs in Baltimore Drug Conspiracy Crackdown

Federal law enforcement agents have charged 90 people, seized more than 51 guns, and large quantities of drugs in separate drug conspiracy investigations in Baltimore during the month of July, the Maryland U.S. Attorney announced on Aug. 3.

The arrests and seizures are part of a partnership between federal, state, and local agencies to crack down on the most violent neighborhoods in Baltimore. The investigations targeted drugs operations in the Northwest, Western, Eastern, and Southwestern Districts of Baltimore, according to a statement.

Along with the firearms and drugs, authorities also confiscated nearly $1 million in cash.

“Reducing violent crime in Baltimore is job one. It’s what we in law enforcement think about morning, noon, and night,” U.S. Attorney Robert K. Hur said in the statement. “We will continue to do everything we can to prosecute the violent criminals who wreak havoc in and terrorize Baltimore’s neighborhoods.”

This announcement comes after Baltimore was put in the national spotlight due to President Donald Trump‘s criticism of Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) that underscored problems like squalid conditions and crime in the city.

Trump called out Cummings in a series of Twitter posts last weekend after the Democrat shouted at federal immigration officials about the conditions on the southern border. Trump suggested Cummings focus on his own district, which he called “a disgusting, rat and rodent-infested mess.”

Throughout the week, Trump continued to target Cummings, blaming the congressman for the condition of his district and accusing him and other politicians of wasting and stealing billions of dollars sent to the city in federal aid.

Trump also called Cummings’s Baltimore district far worse and more dangerous than the southern border, saying, “His district is considered the worst in the USA.”

Cummings has represented Maryland’s 7th Congressional District since 1996. According to the Gun Violence Archive, there have been 1,191 deaths and 4,328 gun incidents in the district since 2014. Baltimore as a whole has one of the highest murder rates in the nation even as its population has decreased considerably since 1970.

Multiple Dead After Shooting at El Paso Shopping Mall,Police Say

Multiple people were killed and one person was in custody after a shooter went on a rampage Saturday at a shopping mall, police in the Texas border town of El Paso said.

Police responded in the early afternoon to an active shooter scene at the Cielo Vista Mall, which is near Interstate 10 on east side of the city, and were advising people to stay away from the area.

Shortly after, Sgt. Enrique Carrillo, a police spokesman, said a suspect was in custody and there was no longer danger to the public.

El Paso, which has about 680,000 residents, is in West Texas and sits across the border from Juarez, Mexico.

Presidential candidate and former Texas congressman Beto O’Rourke appeared a bit shaken as he appeared at a candidate forum in Las Vegas on Saturday shortly after news of the shooting in his hometown was reported.

O’Rourke said he had called his wife before taking the stage and said the shooting shatters “any illusion that we have that progress is inevitable” on tackling gun violence.

The Democrat said he’d heard early reports that the shooter might have had a military-style weapon, saying we need to “keep that (expletive) on the battlefield and do not bring it into our communities.”

“We have to find some reason for optimism and hope or else we consign ourselves to a future where nearly 40,000 people are year will lose their lives to gun violence and I cannot accept that,” O’Rourke said.

Remind you of the Parkland shooting's MO somewhat? Students saying they saw men in black or man dressed in black.

They catch the kid down the road outside of some fast food restaurant.

Take him into custody without a struggle …. and the girl who said the kid who was accused of shooting the students walked out of the school with her to escape the shooter that was still inside. I think she died of an overdose sometime last year.
