And, in a gradual change, neither does the local movie theater. Government buildings and hospitals are about all that are left around hear. We can even carry in taverns and restaurants that serve alcohol. Un-holstering after the first drink, however, remains a dubious proposition. I don't need alcohol that bad.

What was it that Nancy and Elijah and the gang found so fascinating about Africom? Why were they so interested in getting out of town and making sure we all knew where they were?

Multiple witnesses, who were present at the beginning, say they saw either 3 or 4 gunmen dressed in black and wearing masks.

Only the police, who were NOT there, think that it was a solitary shooter wearing khaki slacks.

"Hell is other people" is a line from "No Exit" by French existentialist and Marxist Jean-Paul Sartre. Sauce? I read the play in an advanced English (EMU credit) class in high school in 1969 and recall the line vividly because I used it as the answer to "What is Sartre's vision of hell?" and it was challenged by the teacher.

That leads to a very long story which is forever "etched in my hippocampus" because NO ONE beat Mrs. Pamela Reisey at her game. I think she challenged my answer (Her: "That's incorrect." Me: "It's a quote and I can prove it.") because she guessed that the rest of the class had missed it. They had. But when I stuck to my guns, they started flipping pages until one of them found it.

Good teacher. One of the best possible. May she rest in peace until she can live in paradise.

The guy supposedly just murdered 20 people at random and injured as many others and the cop is polite / the perp is calm?

Really? And there is only one cop walking with him? Shit ... Bill Cosby didn't get that royal treatment for sex crimes that happened 20 years ago with women who voluntarily came to his hotel room.

There are only about 20 injured. None of the dead need transfusions and only a few of the 20 will. The Cadillac of surgical care is not to need ANY transfusions. But there is big money in selling blood.

I'm on Spectrum near Charlotte. No outage for me. Then again, THIS is my "social media".

AT&T will be planting fiber in my front yard pretty soon. Hopefully it will be priced such that I can afford to tap into it. My switch can already handle it ... just need a new router and I should be good to go.

My sons are fiercely loyal, well armed and one, a Marine, is well trained. I was a single Dad with custody and I busted my ass for them. Sometimes these things work out.

Nah ... she took off, skipped out on child support ($10 per kid per month), the boys only saw her for a couple Christmases and one or two birthdays. No presents. One Christmas I had to tell her that she got three hours with the boys, after which I would give her a 30 minute head start out of the county ... she should use it -- because there was a warrant for her arrest for back child support and I was going to call the cops. For three years my sons didn't see her -- or anyone from her family -- at all. Not a fucking phone call.

In the end, she changed and is now a good grandmother and we get along pretty well (at a 2,000 mile separation).

I've sent her a couple Christmas presents. Last year she sent me a card. That's close enough.
