To be honest, most of the notables became simply straight posts of mainstream news articles, instead of actual research and connections. Plus many, many scrapers were set up to grab the notables, besides the ones that were positive, slowing down QR for everyone.
I'm not yet sold that the change was entirely a bad idea.
Most people can barely release themselves from their attachments without emotional breakdown of some sort. What if the things they "love" are the things destroying them?
What if the people they admire are mostly evil who are working, or helping, to wipe them off the planet?

Food - Poison
Pharma - Poison
Electronics - Cellular Damage, Rapid Aging
etc, etc for the sake of not going too deep too soon
