Current baker here.
While you are noticing perceived baker problems, i am noticing a cleanup of this board. For example, the deletion of a thread that is essentially the same as the "Pass the Test" thread on /qresearch/ that allows for tests/tryouts. I was its creator and have reconstructed it bc it's useful for many purposes, including baking. Just a headsup so you know why it has reappeared. What i don't understand is why it was not only deleted but done without notice.
This is relevant to the discussion about bakering bc it pertains to the exercise of power on a board.
>it seems to me that creating a new thread on /qresearch/ has become a limited access type of thing
BO/BVs have a lot more power than bakers, bc they can not only create threads but delete them. As here.
I'm not a fan of bakers vetting other bakers bc i think it tends to create dissension where unity is needed. As the same time, i have been following recent events very closely and believe i understand the reasoning behind the attempt to find some way to keep the board (and espec the dough) in good shape.
Imo, there's too much heat and not enough light here. Bakers aren't perfect and neither is the board. Is there baker fuckery? I don't think so but don't know for sure. The only thing I really know is my purpose here both as a baker and anon. i also know that it's very easy to stir up trouble and much more difficult to restore a good atmosphere once anons have become suspicious bc fear & suspicion is much more contagious than corona. Witness MN.
One reason i've tried to hard to maintain /qrb general/ since Nov 2 is bc it was a great digging board that had VERY little dissension. Thus, a lot of excellent work got done here. And supporting that work is my priority. Ironically, one reason this board is slowly sinking into the sunset is the opposition to /qrb/ by anons on /qr/ saying it was divisive, etc. (Always suspected many were shills but that is another story.)
Am always open in exploring ideas re baking or anything else, but only if the aim is constructive.
My general pov re /qr/ kitchen: there has been a core group of bakers who have kept it more or less running for a long time now. Crew is not perfect, nothing is perfect here. See also my comments here: >>>/comms/15225
One last thing, to any anons reading this:
let me know if anyone would like to take over baking responsibilities in /qrb/. Requires nothing but the willingness to support this thread for as long as anons wish to post here. Will be wrapping this thread up by May 31 and starting a new monthly thread. But if anyone wants to collect notes and bake the May loaf, let me know. I got more than enough other things to do. May ghost the next QRB bread if no anon steps up.
