Looks like the FRBNY is offloading some of the crap it "bought" from the primary dealers (and then some) with it's multiple QE programs over the last several years. Using the Reverse Repo programs to buy it back "at a later date"-for a higher price. For those that do not know the FRB directs these operations through the FRBNY (the real arm of the FRB) under the direction of the FOMC (Federal Open Market Committee).

Credit and Liquidity Programs and the Balance Sheet
Open market operations (OMOs)the purchase and sale of securities in the open market by a central bankare a key tool used by the Federal Reserve in the implementation of monetary policy. The short-term objective for open market operations is specified by the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC). OMOs are conducted by the Trading Desk at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The range of securities that the Federal Reserve is authorized to purchase and sell is relatively limited. The authority to conduct OMOs is found in section 14 of the Federal Reserve Act. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York publishes a detailed explanation of OMOs each year in its Annual Report.

Reverse Repo Counterparties (it's a long list click on the - to drop the menu down on the link below)
The usual cast of characters are on the list.
Reverse repo counterparties only operate with the New York Fed as cash providers in reverse repo operations. As such, they play a much more limited role in the New York Fed Trading Desk's (Desk's) operations than primary dealers, which may serve as counterparties in all of the Desk's domestic open market operations.

Repo vs. Reverse Repo: An Overview
The repurchase agreement (repo or RP) and the reverse repo agreement (RRP) are two key tools used by many large financial institutions, banks, and some businesses. These short-term agreements provide temporary lending opportunities that help to fund ongoing operations. The Federal Reserve also uses the repo and RRP as a method to control the money supply.1 Essentially, repos and reverse repos are two sides of the same coin โ or rather, transaction โ reflecting the role of each party. A repo is an agreement between parties where the buyer agrees to temporarily purchase a basket or group of securities for a specified period. The buyer agrees to sell those same assets back to the original owner at a slightly higher price using a RRP. Both the repurchase and reverse repurchase portions of the contract are determined and agreed upon at the outset of the deal.
*Repurchase agreements, or repos, are a form of short-term borrowing used in the money markets, which involve the purchase of securities with the agreement to sell them back at a specific date, usually for a higher price.
*Repos and reverse repos represent the same transaction but are titled differently depending on which side of the transaction you're on. For the party originally selling the security (and agreeing to repurchase it in the future) it is a repurchase agreement (RP). For the party originally buying the security (and agreeing to sell in the future) it is a reverse repurchase agreement (RRP) or reverse repo.
*Although it is considered a loan, the repurchase agreement involves the sale of an asset that is held as collateral until it the seller repurchases it at a premium.

Pentagon Sending B-52s, Carrier to Guard Afghanistan Withdrawal
Two B-52 long-range bombers arrived in the region around Afghanistan Friday to bolster security as the U.S. prepares to withdraw all 2,500 troops from the country by September, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said.
The bomber deployment was approved by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin along with an extension of the carrier USS Eisenhowerโs current tour in the Middle East as the military anticipates potential attacks by the Taliban and works to send signals to deter them, Kirby told reporters at the Pentagon. The number of ground troops in Afghanistan is also expected to increase temporarily to assist and secure the departing U.S. and NATO forces, Kirby said. Thousands of American and foreign contractors will also leave the country two decades after the initial invasion by the U.S. and allies. Military equipment will be transferred back to the U.S. or redeployed in the region. Some will be given to the Afghan government or destroyed, Kirby said. Vehicles and equipment will be airlifted from Afghanistan, according to Kirby, who said the Defense Department is still assessing the cost of the withdrawal ordered by President Joe Biden.
