Amazing journalist and human being.
Listen at least to words from her recent book at the very beginning of this podcast.

>Malta, UK, and Netherlands had some highest new cases.
>Romania, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Moldova, Bosnia and Ukraine had the lowest rates of new cases.
What are "cases"?
Something found in a person's snot that was detected with undisclosed settings on the equipment used to determine whether or not this qualifies as a "case" or not?
These new "cases" displaying or suffering symptoms of a respiratory viral infection?
There's too much confusion, can't get no relief.
Inside the Federal Police Building, which teetered on the edge of the Old City by the Tigris River, a few young male civilians hoping to return to the city lined up. They were almost all amputees, holding each otherโs hands as they swayed in the freezing cold. Electricity and warm water belonged to a lifetime long gone. They had meandered into the hollowed place with broken faces and missing body parts, looking for answers about their loved ones.
I tried to talk to an old, frail man without hands, who stood like a ghost in the shadow of the door. He started to speak in a staccato dialect, but his husky words gave way to breathless pants โ the kind of pants that come when you are trying so hard not to cry that it hurts like a throbbing fire at the pit of the throat. He stumbled back into the streets, his pallid body vanishing into the wreckage. For a moment, I wondered if I had even seen a real person at all.
