Yes, it was nothing new
The interesting thing about Trump pushing for a vax was to keep the lockdowns to a minimum. If vaxxes did not come out at "warp speed" the lockdowns would have lasted years until a fully tested vaxx was released. The tradeoff was those dying up front vs those dying of 3-5 years.
