"They could wear stickers": Swiss Green Liberals call for labelling of unvaccinated people
In Switzerland, there is an open debate on whether unvaccinated people should be labelled - especially nurses for the elderly, doctors or nursery school teachers.
National Council member and head of the Green Liberal Party (GLP), Jürg Grossen, suggested: "Nurses, caregivers in homes, staff in day-care centres and so on could, for example, wear stickers showing whether they have been vaccinated or not," Grossen said, reports the Swiss news portal "Nau.ch".
Meanwhile, Health Commission President Ruth Humbel, of the "Die Mitte" party, called for "no more consideration" for unvaccinated people.
Humbel told the newspaper: "As far as it is medically and epidemiologically justified, vaccinated persons in the health sector should also be exempted from the obligation to wear masks". Unvaccinated persons, however, should not be exempted, as this would "make it clear who has been vaccinated and who has not". In view of the delta variant, unvaccinated people could no longer be taken into consideration, the politician said.
In addition, a mandatory vaccination certificate is being debated in Switzerland. GLP President Grossen demands that the certificate obligation be extended "to smaller events such as theatres and cinemas or also for banquets in the gastronomy sector". According to Grossen, this would create a great incentive to vaccinate, especially among younger people.
