QRB = the Continental Army, formations of professional, battle-hardened warriors unafraid to face ANYONE.

Generally yes, but only if you're comfortable with it. If not, hopefully you know "right-minded people you can trust to be out front if SHTF. That's a lousy backup plan, though.

Agree it's important to get excellent safety and range training. Also useful to find a vet who's BTDT and can help you sort through muh prepper BS to get to the rock-bottom realities.

Best advice - keep yourself and fam close to a well-prepared home. Canned foods, dried beans and ample water.

I concur it's important to protect hearing but that means you would have to keep plugs handy and stuff your ears before battle. Life doesn't happen that way.

Train first ti become proficient then remove plugs for a bit to get the "this will prolly be how it happens irl" experience. Fright from loud noises can be overcome through familiarity so it helps to know what you'll be dealing with.

Just don't do it much. Enough to che k yoursel so you know you can perform if it happens.

Then back to plugs.
