More And More Australians Are Seeking To Leave The Country

August saw the highest number of Australians apply to leave the country over the past year.
According to figures from the Australian Border Force (ABF), 37,979 applications were received from individuals hoping to leave the country, with 14,900 of those looking to be overseas for three months or more.
A large portion of the applications - 12,347 - were rejected. Australia is one of the few countries in the world that require residents to apply for permission before leaving the country.
The latest figures (pdf) reveal that since January - when the ABF received 20,976 applications - Australians have continued looking for opportunities to leave the country.
“There are literally tens of thousands of people out there on social media and elsewhere saying we’re done, we don’t need this anymore,” Andrew Cooper, president of LibertyWorks told the Daily Telegraph.

“There’s definitely that feeling out there—people saying I’m done,-” he added.
While Australia has enjoyed some of the lowest infection and death rates from COVID-19, it has seen state governments apply stringent health restrictions and domestic border closures at any sign of an outbreak.
In several instances, entire cities have been placed under lockdown—with minimal movement allowed—over the emergence of a single case.
Currently, Greater Sydney and Melbourne have tried to contain outbreaks of the Delta variant of the virus, with both cities under extended lockdowns and stringent health restrictions including mask mandates, curfews, and travel limited to within 5km of a person’s home.
Melbourne entered its sixth lockdown on Aug. 4, which was originally planned for seven days, after eight cases emerged in the city. As a result, the lockdown has been extended and is currently ongoing.
Meanwhile, Greater Sydney has been under lockdown since last June, which has been extended twice until Sept. 30.
Frustrations with tough health restrictions have begun boiling over, with increasing protest activity and petitions against government-mandated restrictions, vaccine mandates, and passports.
Recent figures have also revealed the damage lockdowns are causing Australians with mental health support service, Lifeline Australia, saying August was its busiest month on record.
One in four Australians also reported knowing someone who had committed suicide in the past 12 months, according to figures from Suicide Prevention Australia, whose CEO Nieves Murray said increases in suicide occurred during periods of major social and economic upheaval.

Canadian Schools Hold Book-Burning Demonstration To Be A More "Inclusive Country"

We recently discussed how many on the left have discovered the allure of book burning, book banning, and blacklisting of authors.
While expressing shock at ISIS and other extremist groups burning books, the practice appears acceptable based on the titles or content.
Now educators in Ontario have held a “flame purification ceremony” for the local indigenous population by burning roughly 5,000 books.
The notion of teachers burning books is almost as bizarre as the thought of book sellers embracing blacklisting but both are now part of the realities of our age of rage.These school officials actually videotaped the celebration of book burning for students at 30 schools with the announcement that:
“We bury the ashes of racism, discrimination and stereotypes in the hope that we will grow up in an inclusive country where all can live in prosperity and security.”
The announcement even has a type of Maoist cultural revolution feel to it. In addition, Lyne Cosette, a spokeswoman for the public French-speaking Catholic schools of Ontario, told the National Post newspaper, “Symbolically, some books were used as fertilizer.”
The entire demonstration was a disgrace to educators everywhere. The lesson of book burning left with these children will likely be indelible and lasting. I have worried about the rise of a generation of censors but the Catholic schools of Ontario appear intent on raising a generation of book burners.
What is truly chilling is the Orwellian call for children to burn books in order to be a more “inclusive country.”

Fawad Andarabi, a local artist, was dragged out of his home yesterday and killed by the Taliban in Kishnabad village of Andarab. He was a famous folk singer in the valley. His son has confirmed the incident.

The announcement by Joe Biden yesterday to force vaccinations amid the U.S. workforce was a case study in politics, and his mandate attempt will fail – period. Be angry, be righteously angry. Be resolute and determined. This is the hill, but do not be fearful… they will fail.
As we noted yesterday, it is likely the elitist goal of the crew behind Biden is to cleave society thereby destroying it.
However, if there’s something I know about this crew –it’s how their hubris is their blind-spot.
They can never think clearly through the details of their dictates, because they have never operated/lived in the place where the outcomes of those dictates surface. They make rules that are never implemented within their own tribe;this fact makes them extremely vulnerable.
The announcement by the Obama Chicago Marxist group, through Joe Biden, will never succeed. The U.S. Constitution does not provide the executive with the power they are attempting to exert; not even close. Their arguments are weak, make no sense, are not framed in legal standing, and are easily dispatched in the courts. The carve-outs themselves nullify most of their predictable arguments. If the vaccine is required as a matter of urgent public health -under an emergency declaration- then why are any exemptions afforded, or groups exempted......

A story that haunts me about 9/11 is how all but 13 of Morgan Stanley's approximately 2,700 employees made it out of the South Tower alive because their head of security over rode the NYC Port Authority's instructions and started evacuating immediately.
Rick Rescorla was born in Cornwall and fought for both the UK and US militaries, most famously in the battle of Ia Drang in Vietnam, of We Were Soldiers fame. He was awarded a Silver Star and two Bronze Stars.
Rescorla left active duty, went to law school and ended up working as head of security for Dean Witter (which later merged with Morgan Stanley) in their World Trade Center offices. When the World Trade Center was bombed in 1993 he was the last person out of the building.
Rescorla was concerned the World Trade Center was still a target for attack and recommended Morgan Stanley move their offices, but they had lease obligations. So he started instituting quarterly evacuation drills. Everyone thought this was overkill and more than a bit of a pain.
When the plane hit the North Tower on the morning of 9/11, Rescorla was in his office on the 44th floor. The Port Authority asked everyone in the South Tower to stay calm and at their offices. Rescorla was worried the North Tower would collapse and take the South Tower with it.
So Rick Rescorla, who was 62, ordered a full evacuation for all of Morgan Stanley's employees. Because of the drills, everyone knew what to do. He led the employees down the stairwell, singing Cornish songs, and then he turned around and went back up.
Rick Rescorla was last seen on the 10th floor of the South Tower of the World Trade Center, heading up, to see if he had left anyone behind. He had two of his security employees with him. His body was never found.
9/11 is always a hard day to be on social media. So this year I'm trying to focus less on where I was, and more on the people who were there.
This year I'm remembering Rick Rescorla, the 62 year old Vietnam veteran and cancer survivor who annoyed everyone with his evacuation drills, told the people telling him to stay put to piss off, trusted his instincts, and helped over 2,600 get to safety. And then went back up.

I fucking hate today. Every year for 20 years I hate today.
20 years ago a 14 year old me who skipped school to skateboard heard a plane scream overhead and saw it slam into the North tower. Then the next in the South.
20 years ago I heard over a payphone from my father, a NYPD Detective and RN “Son, we’ve been mobilized. We’re getting attacked.” Then he paused “I’m heading in, I love you. Take care of your Mom and Sister, they’ll be scared.” Then the line went dead.
20 years ago I watched people sail through the air and turn to liquid as they hit the ground. The sound of their impacts are something I can never get out of my head. Their desperation to not burn alive driving them to die like that.
20 years ago I saw so many other things before I would make it home, heard the sound of the world ending as the tower fell and the silence after the cloud got you. The only thing telling me I wasn’t dead was the sound of the firefighters distress alarms. No other sounds, darkness
20 years ago I didn’t hear from my father for three days. The TV’s alive with talks of further attacks being possible. A 14 year old thinking his father was dead, figuring out how he would protect his mother and younger sister in a new world full of hazards.
20 years ago I saw my father walk through the door, covered in soot and dirt from 3 days without sleep digging at ground zero desperate to save the innocent and his brothers who were still inside. I cried when he did and I could see in his eyes that on the inside he was dead.
A piece of him, a spark he always had, was gone. He silently ate after hugging us, threw up, showered, slept for an hour and went back.
20 years ago I watched as he and other detectives were forced to do morgue duty because it was considered a criminal case with bodies to process. I would later learn how so many of their brothers would come in, in pieces, wrapped into metal, being peeled off by them.
I hate today. I lost family that day. We all lost a lot of things. I lost my innocence. It hardened me at a young age.
But I can never forget the love and the strength of those who ran in knowing death was certain just to try to get one more out.
Or the strength of those after.
The strength of the cops, firefighters, steel workers, and everyone else at the pile risking themselves to try and save and later to recover anyone they could.
The strength of the families who lost those they loved. The strength of New Yorkers who rose up together in the face of this horror and with a resounding voice screamed one thing through their collective actions in the days after:

We went to many funerals. Many honor guards. Flag draped caskets. The sound of bagpipes to this day still makes me shake no matter where I am.
Never forget.
