Nancy Pelosi joins G7 Speakers on a visit to Coronation Street
Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, has continued her visit to the UK with a stop on the cobbles at Coronation Street. Mrs Pelosi is in the country as part of the G7 Speaker's Conference being hosted by House of Commons speaker and North West MP Sir Lindsay Hoyle. The Speakers toured the street's exterior set and the Rovers Return at ITV's studios in Trafford, Greater Manchester. Other VIPs on the tour included Richard Ferrand, the President of the French National Assembly and Roberto Fico, President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies. They were joined by representatives from the EU, Germany, Canada and Japan. Their arrival in Weatherfield was greeted by ITV Chairman Sir Peter Bazalgette and Iain MacLeod, Coronation Street's Executive Producer. After touring the set the visitors held a talks about the role TV plays in democracy.
