ST PETERSBURG, Russia (Reuters) - A descendant of Russia's former imperial family married his Italian bride on Friday in the first royal wedding to take place on Russian soil since tsarist times more than a century ago.
Grand Duke George Mikhailovich Romanov tied the knot with Victoria Romanovna Bettarini, an Italian, at St. Isaac's Cathedral in Russia's former imperial capital St Petersburg.
Russian Orthodox clergy conducted the elaborate ceremony, watched by hundreds of guests who included the groom's mother, Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna of Russia - the self-proclaimed heir to Russia's imperial throne - and more than a dozen minor European royals.
George Mikhailovich's great-grandfather, Grand Duke Kirill Vladimirovich, fled Russia during the 1917 Bolshevik revolution, escaping first to Finland and later relocating with his family to Western Europe.
Russia's last tsar, Nicholas II, his wife and five children were murdered by a revolutionary firing squad in July, 1918, in the cellar of a merchant's house in Yekaterinburg, a city 1,450 km (900 miles) east of Moscow.
George Mikhailovich, 40, was born in Madrid and has lived most of his life in Spain and France.
Bettarini, 39, who converted to the Russian Orthodox faith last year and took the name Victoria Romanovna, was led to the altar by her father, Roberto Bettarini, who has served in the Italian diplomatic service.
George Mikhailovich visited Russia for the first time in 1992 and moved to Moscow in 2019, where he works on a number of charity projects.
The Romanov dynasty ruled Russia for over 300 years before Nicholas II abdicated in early 1917, setting the country on course for the Bolshevik Revolution in November of that year, civil war and 70 years of Communist rule.
Russia's Orthodox Church in 2000 canonised Nicholas II, who had been portrayed as a weak leader by Soviet authorities.

The video opens with ominous music inside an airplane. All passengers are masked and socially distanced.
A flight attendant directs the passengers to watch a “short message” from DeSantis on the coronavirus pandemic. “Thereafter, everyone on board will be required to comply with the state’s Florever Purge,” she warns.
Video of DeSantis plays. “We are not doing any vaccine passports in the state of Florida,” he says. “We trust people to make their own decisions in this state. We are not going to be bludgeoning people with restrictions and mandates and lockdowns or any of that stuff.”
“In a state with no rules, over 3 million infected and over 50,000 dead” flashes across the screen.
The flight attendant resumes her intercom speech and says, “As Gov. DeSantis stated, while you’re within state lines, you do not have to wear a mask. You do not have to get a vaccine. It is against the law for private businesses or schools to mandate masks or vaccines.
“And you have the absolute right to infect whoever you want whenever and wherever with COVID-19. Thank you for traveling with us. And please enjoy your Florever Purge.”
Breathless reporter sound bites blare: “COVID-19 is surging again.” “Florida just requested 300 new ventilators.” “Hospitals are filling up here.” “The numbers continue to rise across Florida.”

Wisconsin Special Counsel Michael Gableman Issues Subpoenas in His 2020 Election Probe – Will Any Justice Be Served?
Wisconsin Special Counsel Michael Gableman has subpoenaed Wisconsin election officials as part of his investigation into the 2020 Election irregularities.
The Wisconsin Special Counsel overseeing an election review in the state has subpoenaed Wisconsin election officials.
Special Counsel Michael Gableman has served subpoenas to the administrator of the Wisconsin Election Commission, the executive director of the Milwaukee Election Commission, and four city clerks as part of his probe into the 2020 election, “The Dan O’Donnell Show” has learned exclusively.
On Friday morning, subpoenas were served to Wisconsin Election Commission administrator Meagan Wolfe, Milwaukee Election Commission director Claire Woodall-Vogg, the city clerks of Madison, Green Bay, Racine, and Kenosha as well as a former executive assistant to Racine Mayor Cory Mason, sources said.
The subpoenas seek all records related to grants from the Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL), a group funded by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg that is accused of taking over the administration of the presidential election in Green Bay and having undue influence on election administration in Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and Madison.
The five cities, dubbed “The Wisconsin Five,” submitted a joint bid for CTCL grant money to help administer the presidential election. Emails from former Green Bay city clerk Kris Teske revealed earlier this year that a CTCL partner organization, the National Vote at Home Institute, had unlawfully taken over the administration of the city’s election. In Milwaukee, Woodall-Vogg was providing National Vote at Home Wisconsin lead Michael Spitzer-Rubenstein with daily email updates on early voting, and Spitzer-Rubenstein even requested access to the City of Milwaukee’s voter database, which Woodall-Vogg declined.
We know there were numerous issues in Wisconsin in the 2020 Election. Over 140,000 ballots all for Joe Biden were dropped at around 4am in the Milwaukee area. The Election head in that area laughed about this in emails at that time.

High demand and the transition to green power has left much of Europe at risk of blackouts. In Germany, state authorities are teaching the public to heat their homes with candles and get used to “cooking without electricity.”
State authorities in North-Rhine Westphalia will hold their first ‘Disaster Protection Day’ on Saturday, with instructors in the city of Bonn teaching citizens how to get by “in the event of a long power failure.” An advert by the federal Civil Protection Office gives a hint of what’s in store, and features an elderly woman wearing several layers of clothing, heating her apartment with candles burning under an upturned flower pot and sealing her windows with reflective foil.
The Civil Protection Office on Friday unveiled an ad campaign focusing on all aspects of crisis preparation, and will soon release a targeted strategy addressing “stockpiling, extreme weather, power failure and emergency baggage.” Meanwhile, officials will present a new book entitled ‘Cooking Without Electricity’ at the event in Bonn on Saturday.
Based on these official communications, blackouts are coming to Germany soon. While the idea of the world’s sixth-most developed country being unable to power itself may seem ludicrous, the problem is Europe-wide, and is the result of a number of factors.
Germany relies heavily on natural gas for heat and power, and supplies were depleted following an unusually cold winter and spring. Globally, gas markets are tight, with increased demand in Asia and an upsurge in air-conditioner use during a hot summer in Europe driving prices to record highs.
Compounding the problem, wind-power generation fell this year, literally due to a lack of wind in Germany. Coal burning has increased to make up this shortfall, yet the cost of European Union ‘carbon credits’ on this fuel is passed on to consumers, with the end result being a spike in energy costs for ordinary Germans, who already pay the highest price per kilowatt hour in the world.

I was just sent this video of a doctor, who’s at the rally today that testified last week, testifying against the standard protocols of hospitals and how he was personally asked to stop prescribing Ivermectin. He has also experienced pharmacy staff declining his prescriptions. He challenges South Carolina to be the first state (in something kek) but the first state to prescribe every SC citizen Ivermectin and not let anyone’s symptoms progress and the first state to eradicate Covid completely.
