Trump Considers Afghan War Critic For Ambassador To Afghanistan: Wants "Full & Speedy Withdrawal"

mid a substantial US pullout from Afghanistan, the administration still doesn’t have a proper US Ambassador for that country. Reports, however, are that the short list includes a long-time war critic, Will Ruger.

Though not nominated yet, Ruger is undergoing vetting, and has been meeting with officials. The Vice President for Research and policy at the Charles Koch Institute, Ruger has frequently advocated ending the Afghanistan War.

Though the US is heading toward ending that war anyhow, with so many officials taking a wait and see approach, having a proper ambassador who is known to want a pullout would be a clear signal the administration intends to complete the process.

According to Politico:

Ruger, a Naval Reserve officer who served a year in Afghanistan a decade ago, is aligned with the president’s thinking about the U.S. footprint in the Middle East and the wars in Afghanistan and Syria, and has been especially vocal about getting out of Afghanistan.

“President Trump has correctly concluded that a full and speedy withdrawal of our troops is imperative,” he wrote in the American Interest in late May. “Our national interest isn’t served by continuing to wage a futile battle but by exiting it.”

The US is well ahead of its pullout schedule, down to about 8,500 troops in Afghanistan. Officials sayt hey want 4,000 by the election, and some are saying a complete pullout is possible by then.

And then Vladimir Putin pulled the rug out from under the Obama administration in 2014, invading the Crimea region of U.S. ally Ukraine in a move that ended the reboot and made for frosty relations between Washington and Moscow.

“Russian Nuclear Energy Conquers the World!” exclaimed the Pravda headline on January 22, 2013. The former Soviet propaganda rag celebrated Russian President Vladimir Putin’s latest coup. The Russian atomic energy agency, Rosatom, had just taken full control of a Canadian company called Uranium One Incorporated. Uranium One had a substantial mining portfolio with assets stretching from the United States to Kazakhstan.

The takeover brought Putin closer to achieving his goal of owning the largest nuclear company in the world and controlling much of the global uranium supply chain. Putin achieved this nuclear coup after years of aboveboard lobbying efforts and through surreptitious influence operations.4 The Uranium One purchase was a blatant muscle-flex by a man who likes to play with tigers, swim with dolphins, and ride bare-chested on horseback through Siberia.

Putin had set his sights on global nuclear domination before President Barack Obama took office and then, just two days after Obama’s second inauguration, Putin had achieved a near virtual monopoly (producing more uranium than all American miners combined).6 In a single purchase, he had gained full control of one of the world’s largest uranium mining companies and a nuclear foothold in the land of his greatest adversary.

Uranium One was headquartered in Canada but mined uranium all over the world. The uranium mines in Kazakhstan were Uranium One’s crown jewels, and Putin had been eyeing them for nearly a decade. The mines in Wyoming, Texas, and Utah were prized too, but Putin had other, more sinister plans for Uranium One’s American assets.

Russia and the Soviet Union before it had mined the other precious yellow metal for nearly as long as the Americans had—more than fifty years.9Uranium is well known for its use in nuclear bombs due to its ability to create an explosive chain reaction of devastating power. But it is also used for civilian energy generation and medical purposes.

Chemical, steel factory fires latest in series of fires, explosions in US

The fire follows a number of large fires and explosions around the USA at industrial and military sites.

Large fires broke out at a chemical plant in Atlanta and a steel factory in Pennsylvania on Saturday, the latest in a series of fires and explosions reported at industrial sites in the past week.

A large fire broke out at the Alchemix Chemical Plant near the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta on Saturday, according to local media.

Firefighters from five departments fought the blaze for two hours before managing to extinguish the fire. A road nearby was closed as the fire neared the tree line near the plant.

A miles high smoke plume from the fire could be seen for miles and even showed up on radar. No injuries were reported due to the fire.

Alchemix works with a chemical known as nitrocellulose, according to a local NBC-affiliated television station. Nitrocellulose is composed of nitric esters of cellulose and a highly flammable compound that is the main ingredient of modern gunpowder.

The cause of the fire was unreported as of Saturday night.

Also on Saturday, a large fire was reported at Sukup Steel Structures in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. It took six hours for firefighters from 24 departments to extinguish the blaze. Two firefighters were injured in the fire. Electrical work was conducted near where the fire started and the cause of the fire is being investigated. It is not believed that the fire was suspicious, according to Ambridge fire Chief Robert Gottschalk.

In the past week, two large fires were reported in northwest Indiana, one at a steel mill in Burns Harbor and one at a power plant in Wheatfield.

On Thursday, an explosion was reported at the ArcelorMittal steel mill in Burns Harbor. Video from the scene showed the explosion showering the mill with large chunks of burning shrapnel, according to The Times of Northwest Indiana. No injuries were reported in the incident.

A spokesman for ArcelorMittal stated that the fire was caused by a stove dome failure. Mike Millsap, director of District 7 of the United Steelworkers union, stated, "We do not know what caused it or the how much damage was done. We may not know until tomorrow or the next day. We are very fortunate that there was nobody in the immediate area."

The members of all of them are overlapping. Even this expanded forefront combined represents less than 0.001%. They all have superimposed themselves over sovereign national elected and constitutional governments, and over THE multinational world body, the United Nations, the UN.

In fact, they have coopted the UN to do their bidding. UN Director Generals, as well as the DGs of the multiple UN-suborganizations, are chosen mostly by the US, with the consenting nod of their European vassals – according to the candidate’s political and psychological profile. If his or her ‘performance’ as head of the UN or head of one of the UN suborganizations fails, his or her days are counted. Coopted or created by the Beast(s) are also, the European Union, the Bretton Woods Organizations, World Bank and IMF, as well as the World Trade Organization (WTO) – and – make no mistake – the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. It has no teeth. Just to make sure the law is always on the side of the lawless.

In addition to the key international financial institutions, WB and IMF, there are the so-called regional development banks and similar financial institutions, keeping the countries of their respective regions in check.
