The "Common Cold" you say? KEK

Cholesterol-lowering drug could see coronavirus treated like common cold, study finds

A cholesterol-lowering drug could make coronavirus as treatable as the common cold, scientists have suggested. Researchers at New York’s Mount Sinai Medical Center looked at depriving the virus of nutrients which Covid-19 needs to survive. They found that fat which accumulates inside lung cells is a key component of what the virus needs to reproduce. Depriving the virus of these conditions could mean that the virus could be better controlled, with the researchers claiming it could be reduced to something akin to an ordinary cold. "By understanding how the SARS-CoV-2 controls our metabolism, we can wrestle back control from the virus and deprive it from the very resources it needs to survive," said Prof Yaakov Nahmias from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He continued: "With second-wave infections spiking in countries across the globe, these findings couldn't come at a better time. "If our findings are borne out by clinical studies, this course of treatment could potentially downgrade Covid-19's severity into nothing worse than a common cold." During the study, which was previewed by the Cell Press – a publisher of biomedical journals, including Cell and Neuron – scientists screened medications that could interfere with the virus’s ability to reproduce. They found that one cholesterol-lowering drug, fenofibrate, showed promising results which allowed lung cells to burn more fat and therefore depriving the coronavirus of the conditions it needed to survive. After five days of treatment with the drug, the researchers said that the virus had almost completely disappeared in lab studies. Another study published by Cambridge University Press this week found that three in four coronavirus deaths in China had at least one underlying health condition. More than 40 per cent of those had high blood pressure, and more than a quarter had heart disease – conditions both linked to high cholesterol. The University of Jerusalem researchers hope that with clinical trials, a cholesterol treatment for the virus could become viable to help fight Covid-19. With a working vaccine often taking years to develop, and with no guarantees that it will be completely effective, therapeutic treatments are currently being researched to fight the virus.

Sorry if already posted. Seems pretty AWESOME!

Antonio Sabato Jr. starting 'conservative' movie studio: 'Hollywood has got to be fair'

Antonio Sabàto Jr. appeared on FOX Business’ “Mornings with Maria” on Friday where he discussed his plans to establish a "conservative movie studio."

Speaking to host Maria Bartiromo, he explained that he looked at the current Hollywood landscape and found there was really no place for conservatives or people of faith to tell stories.

“There’s just so many people that have been blacklisted, not myself, but just so many over the years and they’re sick of it,” Sabàto explained. “So I just thought about, ‘why don’t we start a studio where we can produce and make our own stuff and have our own distribution and just make movies that we want to make, you know? That are patriotic, that have God involved … things that we all are passionate about.”

The actor announced on Thursday his plans to establish a studio to help combat what he sees as the routine blacklisting of conservative creatives in the entertainment industry.

“We are putting together a plan to create a conservative movie studio for all patriots to do projects that Hollywood would never do. No more blacklisting and no more injustice from the socialist's elites," he tweeted.

Sabàto declared his support of President Trump at the 2016 Republican National Convention and since then has said he's been largely unable to work in Hollywood. He noted on “Mornings with Maria” that things have been difficult for not just him and his career, but his family.

“It’s been really tough, I mean, it’s been an awakening for me and I’ve been through hell and back and my family and I have been through some crazy times because of my affiliation with the president and my political affiliation with the Republican Party and so forth, but I’ve never seen anything like this before,” he said. “I never expected to see it here in Hollywood where you have this liberal world dictating the future of everybody in the business who disagrees with them politically, or even if they bring God or if they wear their crosses to work.”

Sabàto added: “That’s why I moved away from California, I live in Florida because it’s getting out of hand and it’s just an unfortunate thing but we’ve got to fight for it you know? I use this time, this crazy times in our lives, to be positive and to use the Lord in my way to make things that are going to be uplifting and we’re going to be moving the world and if we don’t do it, who is going to do it? So I’m willing to go all out.”

The actor explained that he already has several actors and talented people in the industry willing to join him in this conservative movie studio endeavor such as Kevin Sorbo, Scott Baio and Kristy Swanson, all of whom he recently worked with on the movie "Trail Blazers."

They just want to have a playing field where it’s fair for everybody. That’s not the case right now,” he explained. “So I’m just going to fight for this and I have a great team of people with me, I have a great production company and we’re going to open the studio and we’re going to make it happen for America and the future of this country and the future of our industry. Hollywood has got to be fair. It cannot be happening where your mouth is shut or you’re being blacklisted left and right for your political or spiritual ways of life. It’s got to stop, and we’re going to do it by doing things like this.”

This isn't’ the first time that the “General Hospital” actor has tried to affect change in the country. In 2018 he ran for a congressional seat but lost to Rep. Julia Brownley, D-Calif. He made the move to Florida shortly after.

Jeremy Roenick Sues NBC Sports for Anti-Straight Discrimination in Firing

Hockey commentator Jeremy Roenick is firing back at NBC Sports, accusing his former employer of discriminating against him for being straight.

Roenick was fired by NBC Sports back in February after he made sexually suggestive remarks about colleagues Kathryn Tappen and Patrick Sharp on a podcast. Now Roenick has filed a lawsuit against the network in New York Supreme Court, claiming wrongful termination and discrimination based on gender or sexual orientation, according to our sister site Variety.

Roenick’s lawsuit states that figure skating commentator Johnny Weir made “colorful commentary” about skaters’ body parts for NBC Sports during the 2018 Winter Olympics, and when Roenick asked his supervisor about that, the supervisor responded that Weir “is gay and can say whatever.” Roenick’s suit also points to a promotional video featuring Weir and on-air partner Tara Lipinski that included vulgar language; Weir and Lipinski were not suspended or fired.

Roenick also claims that he was fired because the network was retaliating against him for his support of President Donald Trump. When he asked for permission to speak at the 2016 Republican National Convention, he alleges he was told: “You know who you work for. You work for NBC. That would not look good on your NBC record.”

A nine-time NHL All Star who retired in 2009, Roenick joined the NBC Sports team as a commentator and studio analyst the following year. Roenick was suspended and eventually fired for comments he made on a podcast about Tappen and Sharp. Roenick recalled a trip to Portugal that he and his wife Tracey took with Tappen and implied he wanted to have a threesome with her. He also called Sharp “so beautiful” and added that “I wouldn’t say no right away” if Sharp invited him to bed.
