Thousands have pleaded online for the governor to either reopen the state’s economy or provide relief funding, but neither has been done.

The federal CARES act was initially set to expire on December 31st, 2020, which allows unemployment insurance to be paid out at no less than $795/per week, per individual. This now expires on July 25th, 2020, which is leaving millions of people worried about how they will survive.

Some good news is that top-named officials are stating it will almost be extended indefinitely due to new cases of coronavirus skyrocketing in some states. Parents question how and if they get back to work, what will happen to their children once school starts. The balance between surviving and ensuring children’s safety by being left home alone is raising some significant eyebrows.

On May 7th, a federal suit was filed at the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania in Pittsburgh. Reportedly, the suit alleges that Democratic Governor Tom Wolf reacted poorly to the COVID-19 response, in addition to the Department of Health advisor Richard Levine.

Some key points question whether Wolf had the authority to issue an emergency declaration for an indefinite period of time and whether he was allowed to shut down businesses using the “essential v. non-essential” chart.

A civil rights lawsuit is expected to be filed as well, which comes as a shock to many since House Resolution 915 was introduced. House Resolution 915 is the articles of impeachment against Gov. Tom Wolf.

Dozens of individuals testified before a federal judge on Friday, many of which cited flaws in the “red/yellow/green” stoplight reopening plans. Some locals testified, including Butler County Commissioner Leslie Osche, U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, state Rep. Marci Mustello and Rep. Daryl Metcalfe and owners of several county businesses.
