These days, I'm typically skeptical about nearly everything that "scientists say", but especially when paired with government or media.
Having said that, I could definitely see there being some fuckery in the Harvard study, especially because of the media hype that carried the "myth" as far as it has.
Having said that, "mob mentality" is a very real thing, and it's been on full display, as of recent.
Additionally, "intelligence" agencies have long been fucking around in various fields, including in our universities, and there were/are countless instances where "studies", "experiments", "operations" and such all "happened", for "information gathering" "purposes", whether or not all that "information" is readily available to the public or not.
Basically, stay skeptical of everything
