Yes and no. If you don't have antibodies, the virus will reproduce. The way a virus reproduces
guarantees that at least some cells will die, and the resulting T-cell response will annihilate every
cell nearby. You can't kill massive amounts of cells in your body, particularly your throat, without
at least some pain (soar throat), and likely fever. If the symptoms abate quickly, or they're so
mild you don't notices, that means your immune response succeeded, and there are no more
symptoms and no more disease (though you'll keep testing positive for a while because of the way
that PCR test works).
