Trump Calls On Congress To Exclude Illegal Immigrants From New Congressional Redistricting Maps
President Donald Trump signed a presidential memorandum Tuesday that calls on Congress not to count illegal immigrants while redrawing voting districts ahead of the 2022 election.
“My Administration will not support giving congressional representation to aliens who enter or remain in the country unlawfully, because doing so would create perverse incentives and undermine our system of government,” Trump said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “Just as we do not give political power to people who are here temporarily, we should not give political power to people who should not be here at all.”
The president added that “there used to be a time when you could proudly declare, ‘I am a citizen of the United States,’ but now, the radical left is trying to erase the existence of this concept and conceal the number of illegal aliens in our country.”
“This is all part of a broader left-wing effort to erode the rights of Americans citizens,” he continued. “I will not stand for it.”
It should be noted that the executive branch does not hold any oversight over the U.S. Census, which provides the data from which congressional appointment maps are drawn.
Senior White House officials confirmed the contents of the memo, titled “Excluding Illegal Aliens From the Apportionment Base Following the 2020 Census,” to the Daily Caller ahead of the signing, but multiple questions remained as to how exactly Trump is recommending Congress exclude illegal immigrants from the new district maps. The U.S. Census does not currently contain any questions about respondents’ citizenship or legal status.

US Homeland Security Head Says 43 Arrests in Portland This Month, Vows Agency 'Will Not Retreat'
Amid condemnation of the violent repression of anti-racist protests by federal police, the head of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said on Tuesday the agency "will not retreat" from Portland, Oregon.
"Smear attacks leveled against officers are disgusting," Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf told reporters on Tuesday. "These officers are not military … they are civilian police officers, they are not storm troopers … this description is offensive."
"If you’re looking to peacefully protest, do it away from violent riots," Wolf continued, noting that violent rioters "need to find another line of work … we will not retreat."
He later added, "I'm ready to pull my officers out of there if the violence stops," noting the violence was continuing because local politicians were not "doing your jobs."
"If we left tomorrow, they would burn that building down," Wolf asserted about the federal courthouse in Portland that has been the focus of the protests in recent weeks.
The acting DHS chief would not give exact numbers about how many agents had been dispatched to Portland, simply that it was "a force now that can protect our federal property."
Wolf's comments come after days of violent repression of protests in Portland, Oregon, that have featured federal officers from Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the US Marshals Service, and Federal Protective Service, among others, freely engaging in violence against protesters. Not all of those agencies are part of DHS. This has included not only unprovoked beatings and prolific use of tear gas and pepper spray, but also kidnappings by cammo-clad officers in unmarked vans.
Acting CBP commissioner Mark Morgan said at the press conference that "use of unmarked vehicles is standard practice … it’s nothing new … it’s especially important under these circumstances … I call these individuals criminals - the individuals with the intent to go out and target marked vehicles … In these circumstances it makes sense."
The acting DHS chief previously described Portland as "under siege" and vowed to “bring an end to the violence perpetuated by anarchists" when he arrived in the northwestern city last week. The DHS published a list of allegedly violent crimes justifying the forceful presence of federal police in the city, but most of the items on the list were graffiti and dismantling of fences.
Wolf said on Tuesday that since July 4, federal police had carried out 43 arrests in Portland. Officials did not indicate how many of the arrested individuals have been officially charged with a crime.
Oregon lawmakers, including Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, who is also the city’s police commissioner, and Oregon Governor Kate Brown, have all denounced US President Donald Trump's dispatching of federal police to Portland, in some cases curtly telling the officers to leave and saying the federal police are making the violence and the protests far worse.

Forced to Take Countermeasures:’ Beijing Practices Airstrikes on Ships as US Carriers Drill Nearby
While two US Navy carrier strike groups drilled in the South China Sea last week, Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) jets practiced anti-ship attacks nearby.
For weeks, several US aircraft carriers have carried out drills in waters near China, including in the Philippine Sea and South China Sea. However, last week, Chinese forces decided to stage their own drills, holding live-fire exercises in which PLAAF jets rehearsed how they would carry out strikes against enemy warships in the region.
The drills involved JH-7A and J-16B naval strike aircraft, which fired more than 3,000 missiles total, the Global Times reported, citing China National Radio. They were held on July 15 and 16.
In addition to flight ops by the US Navy carrier USS Nimitz and USS Ronald Reagan, the destroyer USS Ralph Johnson carried out a still-more-provocative act on July 14, the day before the Chinese drills began: a so-called “freedom of navigation operation” (FONOP). The warship sailed inside the waters surrounding the Spratly Islands, which are claimed by China as part of its territory, in a deliberate attempt to flout Chinese claims.
“These incidents, taking place thousands of miles away from the US and on China's doorstep, have again proven that the US is the real pusher of militarization in the South China Sea, and China is forced to take countermeasures to safeguard its national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Global Times wrote, citing an unnamed Chinese military expert.
“If US military provocations in the South China Sea persist, China could be left with no choice but to conduct more drills and deploy more warships and warplanes in the South China Sea, to the extent of setting up a possible air defense identification zone (ADIZ),” they said.

HILLARY CLINTON: I think anybody who has watched him over the last four years has to be concerned and particularly watched his total absence of leadership with respect to the pandemic. If you were really looking for somebody to try to help our country get through this terrible virus that has cost jobs and lives and disrupted our society and economy, clearly he has failed. He’s failed at the most fundamental job of being a president. And so yes, I am concerned. I’m concerned because he does not seem up to the job, he doesn’t seem capable of having the attention, the concentration, the focus, the discipline to stay with a problem like the pandemic poses. Minnesota Sen. Dr. Scott Jensen Under Investigation After Criticism of CDC Classification of Virus Deaths
A physician who serves as a Minnesota state senator announced this month that his state’s Board of Medical Practice is investigating him following his criticism in April that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) guidelines on the classification of coronavirus deaths could artificially inflate counts.
Dr. Scott Jensen (R) tweeted on July 6 that his video message was the “most important” he has done.
The physician said the Board of Medical Practice wrote to him that he was under investigation because of allegations he has been “spreading misinformation in regards to the completion of death certificates on a news program,” and “providing reckless advice” in a comparison between COVID-19 and the flu.
In April, Jensen appeared on Fox News with host Laura Ingraham, who read guidelines developed by CDC for completing death certificates.
“In cases where a definite diagnosis of COVID-19 cannot be made, but it is suspected or likely (e.g., the circumstances are compelling within a reasonable degree of certainty), it is acceptable to report COVID-19 on a death certificate as ‘probable’ or ‘presumed,’” Ingraham read from the guidelines, emphasizing they appeared to concede how the death certificates are completed is a “judgment call.”
Jensen responded the CDC guidance was “ridiculous.”
“The idea that we’re going to allow people to massage and sort of game the numbers is a real issue,” he continued, “Because we’re gonna undermine the trust and, right now, as we see politicians doing things that aren’t necessarily motivated in fact and in science, the public’s … trust in politicians is already wearing thin.”
During the broadcast, Jensen also provided a hypothetical example of a patient who died due to influenza, with symptoms of cough and fever, but who would have the primary cause of death as “respiratory arrest.”
“I’ve never been encouraged to [notate ‘influenza’],” he said. “I would probably write ‘respiratory arrest’ to be the top line, and the underlying cause of this disease would be pneumonia … I might well put emphysema or congestive heart failure, but I would never put influenza down as the underlying cause of death and yet that’s what we are being asked to do here.”
Jensen added that, under the CDC guidelines, a patient who died after a bus accident, but then tested positive for coronavirus, would still be counted as having presumed to have died from the virus.
“That doesn’t make any sense,” he said.
Ingraham also played a clip of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Dr. Anthony Fauci’s response during a briefing to a question about the possibility of coronavirus deaths being “padded.” Fauci replied there are often “conspiracy theories” during “challenging” times in public health crises.

Fossil-fuel arch-enemy Greta Thunberg is awarded a million-euro ‘Humanity Prize’ by oil tycoon’s foundation
Climate activist Greta Thunberg has been awarded the first Gulbenkian Prize for Humanity, in the form of €1 million. Problem is, Gulbenkian was a massive oil industrialist who paved the way for Western states to exploit Iraqi oil.
Grand Jury Chair Jorge Sampaio said that “Thunberg has been able to mobilize younger generations for the cause of climate change” and is “one of the most remarkable figures of our days.” He also added that the decision was made by consensus.
The Swedish activist, however, declined the opportunity to become a millionaire. Thunberg released an Instagram monologue, accompanied by some ambient spiritual music, in which she said she was “extremely honored” to receive the prize, but pledged to donate the money to various climate causes “as quickly as possible.”
It seems, though, that Thunberg is going to be spending fossil-fuel money to advance her cause. The foundation and the Humanity Prize are named after Calouste Gulbenkian, a British-Armenian oil tycoon who died in 1955. One of the wealthiest people of his era, he was a major shareholder in Royal Dutch Shell, developed many oil companies of his own and is historically credited with being the first person to exploit oil in Iraq, which made the petroleum riches of the Middle East ripe for the taking by the West.
“By awarding this Prize, the Foundation highlights its commitment to urgent climate action,” the president of the Gulbenkian Foundation, Isabel Mota, commented.
The irony of an oil magnate of historic proportions financing an anti-oil climate activist, though indirectly, was not lost on the Internet. Both Thunberg’s supporters and detractors caught the humor in her now being sponsored by the money “of the polluters against whom she protests.”
The prize money will supposedly be split between projects supporting people enduring the worst of the current “climate catastrophe.” For now, Thunberg mentioned she will donate to causes in countries of the Global South, specifically Brazil’s SOS Amazonia campaign to tackle Covid-19 in the Amazon, and the Stop Ecocide Foundation; each will receive €100,000.
The controversial 17-year-old activist first gained a worldwide profile after gong viral with her solo protests against industries which contribute to global warming. Thunberg now is a bona fide celebrity having big media appearances and talks with government leaders.

The US Department of Commerce added 11 Chinese companies to its list of firms implicated in human rights violations, including China’s reported campaign against Muslim minority groups from an area of the country known as the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region. At least one of those companies, Nanchang O-Film Tech, is listed as a supplier or undefined “partner” with nearly two dozen tech and car companies, including Amazon, Apple, Dell, GM and Microsoft.
The Commerce Department said the group of 11 companies that supported “mass arbitrary detention, forced labor, involuntary collection of biometric data and genetic analysis” targeted at Uighurs and other minority groups will face restrictions on US products, including technology.
“Beijing actively promotes the reprehensible practice of forced labor and abusive DNA collection and analysis schemes to repress its citizens,” Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross said in a statement Monday. “This action will ensure that our goods and technologies are not used in the Chinese Communist Party’s despicable offensive against defenseless Muslim minority populations.”
O-Film couldn’t immediately be reached for comment. Amazon, Apple, Dell, GM and Microsoft either didn’t respond to requests for comment or had no immediate comment when reached.
